With all the sequels I'm a little surprised there's never been a Children Of The Corn/Lawnmower Man crossover...
Yeah me too! I'd totally watch it if I had the chance if they existed.
I thought there's only one lawnmower man sequel
Spy kids? I find it super creepy, and it has some awful cgi.
I saw the director's cut of The Lawnmower Man, and it's awesome movie on Tubi.
i would love a crossover between Basket Case 3 and It's Alive 3.
i mean think of the possibilities here...
"The kids went ape shit and killed everybody" is the best line in the movie. Heck I use it all the time in conversation.
Common conversation in the Midwest.
Still find it weird how this kid would be able to convince all the kids to kill the adults... or how they would survive for long
"Sorry Jessica, I can't pay the rent on time. The kids went ape shit and killed everybody"
I seriously laughed out loud on that part of the video, Tigerfire75.
@@SwiftNimblefoot It's based off a Stephen King novel...it's best not to think too hard about it.
I laughed like crazy when i saw one of the kids throwing a javelin at John which ended up in him catching it with relative ease and then throwing it back and impaling the same little shit to death.
One of the hilarious "uno reverse" moments right there
As a long-time Uno fan I lol at your comment. Cheers.
May one of you very fine loyal horror fans. I'm a loyal fan to Japanese heavy medal band babymetals eteral grand rising perfectly performance skills of music abilities! I'll greatly appreciate it. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.
Just imagine trying to explain that lol
"Your demon lord can't save you now Micah you're still gonna be mulch."
My thoughts placed into better words and comedic sentence.
If this movie series ACTUALLY HAD a demon lord showing up, it would have made it vastly better. The pure fact that they kids only talk about it all the time seems like setting up an expectation that is never paid off. Heck, if you gave me a twisted corn abomination as an avatar, it would still be better than just having killer vines. :/
"Do you think we should give these kids some sort of psychological evaluation or therapy before setting them up in foster homes?" "Nah."
Oh yeah the old Native American cliche much like the old Spanish housekeeper that knows everything about the spirit world cliche.
You say that but Spanish Housekeepers were known to fight off evil spirits and demons that don't let them clean the house properly. Never heard the epic fight of Consuela vs the Devil of the Microwave?

My dude, EVERY Stephen King story is a part of the Dark Tower series.
I'm a touch of irony though, the Dark Tower movie is almost completely unrelated to the books except for character names. 😃
everything is relative
I literally was describing Steven king books yesterday and said “I’m sure it ties to the dark tower or something..”
At least the magic tortoise wasn't featured
@@patrickmartin7692 Blame the crappy script written by Akiva Goldsman, anything that man writes nowadays is crap I mean who told him to adapt all of the books into one movie? Has the man not seen Harry Potter and how to take your time to adapt a book series?
"It doesn't make sense!"
The tried and true Chewbacca defense. He's a pro!
The native American character was the only character I liked in this movie also Hemmingford is a reference to Hemmingford Home from The Stand novel
Thanks, I knew that rang a bell! All I could come up with was "Harvest Home" (which is coincidentally also rural horror).
I believe Hemingford Home is the name of an actual town in Nebraska.
@@robertstuart480 I think it is
"He who Walks Behind The Rows" is Randall Flagg, so...yeah.
Driving into a rural Nebraska town was their first mistake. No sane person should EVER do that!
Loved this movie as a kid and had such a crush on Micah/ Ryan Bollman lol. I got to meet him a few years ago at a play , very sweet dude. Also a crazy story from the film was he was actually pulled under the turned on combine! They dug a ditch under it and pulled him under but he had to do it twice cause first time he accidentally got face planted and got a mouth full of bugs.. I would have told them hell no I ain't doing that again!
Cool story. I love going to Horror Cons!
This hits that "Maximum Overdrive" sweet spot: because when a Stephen King story is good, it's good, but when it's the right sort of bad, it's *Really* good.
Still pissed off there was no 80s/90's film version of "The Mangler."
Maximum Overdrive is great. And...are you making a joke about The Mangler?
@@JnEricsonx No, I *LOVE* the short story "The Mangler": It has the best first half of a King short story, with the slow realisation that the machine is possessed and the debate on how to do anything about it without looking insane and getting fired, and then the ending is just so Batshit insane and random that you can tell it was one of Kings Cocaine days, and I adore the mood whiplash it causes.

My cousins and I watched this on tape expecting it to be scary, but by the time the corn cuts a guy's throat we were howling with laughter
I burst out laughing at that remote wheelchair scene with the granny getting hit and slamming straight into that guy's shop saying "yeah." 😂😂
My Locations Teacher in film school worked on the film as Locations Manager. He said that they are alot of Corn on the cob at catering after cutting those mazes.
Where was it filmed?
Sweet corn isn't really grown in Nebraska. Nebraska grows feed corn: for animals, corn syrup and ethanol. The fields shown in the film are grown too close together to be sweet corn.
I'm not saying catering did give them corn to eat, it's cheap and easy to prepare after all.
@@waterandafter Durham, NC.

That makes more sense. But still those fields look close grown, but with more modern technology (gmo, equipment) it's possible.
Hey Brandon! Hi Lorenzo. Brandon's videos help me through rough periods too. Hope you're well.
"Apparently in this town where all the kids killed their parents, something really fucked up happened."

And cut that out! People don't like it when you mastermind evil plots.
"... And because he is Native American and this is a horror movie, I'm assuming that means he's also magical or some shit."
As person of the First Nations, yeah we get that stereotype in movies alot. Next to being tracker/hunter, exposition for historical origins, medicine man/shaman priest macguffin to solve or even being the cause of said curse. In my personal experience, I have no idea what is going on in paranormal situations, all I got is movies and a bit of para-psychology under my belt.
And as the film goes, I find that Redbear is an old spirit making amends for cursing the land. Follow me here, back when the first euro settlers arrived, one of the gifts was given by tribes were corn to grow and harvest. Ofcourse civilization pushed the Tribe out of their ancestral land or worse genocide by disease or... Anyways, the settlers made a town on top of burial grounds causing a curse on the corn to turn bad. However like a haunted house when one spirit/curse has a door open other nasty things can get in. That's how small hauntings could turn to into a poltergeist if left unchecked, a rat-king of spirits. As said that curse invited a demon and Redbear had to do clean up before his soul can rest. I suppose his final acts to right the wrongs was the final sacrifice.
Or I would like to say if there wasn't 5 other movies after this. LOL
@Undeadgentleman, you actually made the Children of the Corn movies make some little bit of sense to me! 😲
I always thought that scene with the ghost was a person who has his soul set free, presumably because he did good and prevented evil from winning. I base this on the fact that no-one else's soul was seen in the film, so in my headcanon, that meant due to their violent deaths and the nature of the evil of He who walks behind the rows, that their souls were being 'absorbed' (or at the very least, prevented from passing on), either due to their proximity to the "cursed kids"/"cursed cornfields".
Which still doesn't quite explain the ability to walk away (even in spirit form) from a cursed location (that still has its evil intact) in horror lore, but then again, considering the period the was was shot in, saying stories were "logical" would be a bit of a stretch, and it's not like this horror franchise even kept to its own consistency. :)
I thought people of the first nations knew how to grow corn. And it was the setters that learned from them. I suppose that wasn't how it went down with the first nations of the Midwest.
@@pepperedash4424 Huh, you right the first time, the east coast tribes did teach the settlers proper things to farm and scavenge in the "New World". When the Europeans arrived, they brought their own stock to grow, unfortunately alot didn't take to the soil, because of different environments. I don't know how you went reverse uno here, but glad to clear things up. LOL
You know what I haven’t had in a while? Big League Chew.
7:44 Of all the deaths in this one particular film, I felt the most bad for Ruby. She understood from the beginning the danger the kids posed, she just wanted to escape danger, and she still died in the end.😰
So many great taglines for the poster: "Children of the Corn 2--Well That Was Awkward"; "Those kids went apeshit and killed everybody"; or "What is all this shit about the corn??"
“How I stretched a 15 minute story into 9 goddamn movies”
I kinda love it.
Holy Batman cliff hanger, run over by a combine.
You finish 16 pages in 15 minutes? You're sure are a faster reader than me.
@@remliqa 15 minutes? 4-6 minutes for me.
You underestimate Hollywood's ability to wring blood out of a rock by adapting something horribly, and then simply making "original" sequels based on popular stereotypes and tired tropes and cliches that you've seen in at least a dozen other movies.
*Looks at MOST movie series*
Oh hey Brandon is reviewing Children of the Corn sequel..... ( *remembers how many more of them exist* )......oh god....
I actually used to own all of them

Anyone else want Brandon to review the Lance Hendrikson film, Pumpkin Head? I've not seen a mention of it anywhere else since Spoony reviewed the video game.
11:10 Technically all of America is built on an ancient Indian burial ground.
And those Indians lived on the burial grounds of the Indians they killed, ad infinitum.
Technically all continents were once passable by land, and if you were to even ignore that, so you're kinda sitting on the combined cemeteries of the world if you are on land (since every continent is linked to each other via the inner core). Whether you can be haunted by any, depends on which franchise rules you want to follow - either having ghosts that are restricted by a single location, having a ghost latch onto a person where ever they go, getting "possessed by a ghost" or having a person summon a specific or any ghost to their location, or any combination thereof. :/
Yeah all of the Americas, and Australia, Hell most of the world is just a large burial ground.
So are most countries with slavery and war, and countries taken over by colonists.
@Michael Fox Yep.
Not gonna lie, the death of the old lady flying from wheelchair into ongoing traffic from one of the Children of the Corn movies holds up. Funny af.
Also, the 2009 Children of the Corn version presented by the SyFy channel is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an atmospheric horror movie with an f'd up ending.
8:50 - missed opportunity for that pastor lecturing the kids on “cornication”
Fun fact: the first film had Sarah Connor herself Linda Hamilton and coincidentally the first film came out the same year as terminator
The sequels are stupid one them features a mans head getting ripped by vines predator style and it looks incredibly goofy and stupid
the first isn't particularly good....Hell the majority of Stephen King adaptations are generally awful and occasionally mediocre....Not every book is good material for a movie.
@@lutherheggs451 can you name the ones that are awful?

@@StageRight123 yeah, not what i asked. But, thanks for playing.
Irony is her boyfriend in that movie would be hunting demons 15 years later. :)
1984 seems to have been a particularly prolific year in terms of movie releases (and all time classics, actually)
Yeah, like 'The Terminator' and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'.
No Vietnam/"Tour of Duty" reference for Terrence Knox? Aah... and I can't be the only one to think Micah and Justin Long have the same parent somewhere?!
Micah def. looks familiar - I was thinking Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
I've seen the first movie in the series. I find it really strange that a movie with such a concept got several sequels. This is one of the unlikeliest franchises in horror movie history.
It's because it's the simplest plot ever. Kids turn evil, kill all the adults. This one is just gussied up with enough religious and Supernatural overtones the kind of give it a small Edge.
Same thing with the Amityville Horror. Much of that franchise either doesn't include the actual house, or takes the evil and makes it mobile. Including a dollhouse, a clock, and I think a lamp or something.
It's easy marketing too. If you see a movie called Children of the Corn, it doesn't matter what the subtitle is or the number. You know you're going to see a horror movie with a lot of kills, evil children, and some vaguely Supernatural elements
Well the kid who Played Issac, in the original, was 22 at the time.
He was incredible in the first movie!
When I found out his age it made me think about acting.
If I wasn't scared of being watched and the pressure, I'd try out for a part as a teen in the movies. I look about ten years younger than I am :p
What is it with movie serieses that have an instalment called "final chapter" that ends up being a goddamn lie?
Worse yet, why is the final chapter always 1/3 or 50% into the movie series? XD
That's like having a franchise having a subtitle called "The new generation" and then only having them appear in that single movie? XD
Money talks
@@comixproviderftw_02 Angel III: The Final Chapter blows a hole in that theory
@@sigmacademy Not a horror movie franchise per se but the Street Fighter 3: A New Generation tried to do the exact same thing by introducing an all new cast and completely removing the previous ones. Let's just say it didn't well.
Nightmare on elm Street did technically end the original franchise with that moniker. There was no Freddy in new nightmare it was a dream demon that took the form of Freddy.
You did Halloween III without doing the other two because you're a man of taste and culture.
Also, I am from Nebraska. And I can safely say, this series is the most accurate depiction of Nebraska we have.
I saw this movie in the theatres in a matinee. It was exactly as I expected...Hilariously stupid. There were 3 other people in the theatre except for me and my friends and we were laughing all the way through. I don't think the three other viewers were happy with us making so much noise.
I'm fairly sure they meant 'Khorne' and not 'corn'.
'I saw Khorne!!'
If they were worshippers of the Blood God, those would be some tough as Hell kids.
Just in time for Total War Warhammer 3.
Back in the early noughties, my local video store had almost every entry of this series on their shelves - all except 2. I only got around to viewing this one towards the end of the decade. Knowing it was a direct sequel to the original, I had hopes it was gonna be at least as good as that one; no dice.
The discontinuity in this series is appalling. There is some continuity between 1-3 & 6, but the rest ignore one another completely, with sequel hooks in one entry going ignored in the next. It wouldn't surprise me if most started life as standalone scripts before receiving slapdash rewrites to fit into this series.
Similar to the Hellraiser sequels after part 3.
By the early noughties you mean the early 2000's?
@@Gideon13397 Yep.
I remember that nose bleed scene traumatized me. Every time I got a nose bleed after I was afraid it wouldn't stop.
I remember this one. As a kid, I thought this horror movie sequel was pretty good. And the idea that the kids actually went crazy over contaminated corn was quite interesting.
But the implementation was a bit rough. (The whole thing should play directly after the first part. But obviously takes place 8 years later)
We need to make a movie about Brandon vs the Kennys

7:45... That is the worst construction of a porch overhang I've ever seen. Maybe they should have hired John Carpenter to directors film.
Its set in the town of Hemingford. Aka Hemingford Home from The Stand. 108 yr old Mother Abigail lived on a corn farm there. Her porch was built on jack lifters. I'm guessing that porch is a nod to The Stand.
