  • This video showcases meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wac and Angelwax Enigma Ceramic wax. I put them on the same panel to compare. I also explain the different application methods and how they both benefit from them. I also go into detail on the chemistry of a ceramic wax and how it protects.

    Merry Christmas ...
    I've watched two other videos on the Meguiar's hybrid and even on the directions on the bottle, it recommends for the initial application to wash, rinse, spray on the hybrid wax, then wipe it into the surface, THEN rinse again in order to get a solid 'base coat' of the product on the surfaces. After that, the applications are supposed to be spray on, rinse off.
    The Meguiar's is definitely a product I want to try as soon as it hits the shelves. The low cost/ease of use (IMO) tend to off-set any possible durability issues since this is something you can do every time you wash your car and only adds a minute or two to the time it takes to do a regular wash. Many people I know use a spray wax/quick detailer as a "drying aid" when they wash their cars. Just substitute the hybrid wax for whatever drying aid you use and it adds no more time to the job, instead it adds to and enhances your paint protection.

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  5 лет назад +1

      Indeed...if used every time you wash...no need to worry about durability.

    I use the Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax. My guest application was after a fresh mild paint correction detail. I massaged it into the surface with a microfiber drying towel and I only spray on and spray off with a power washer to rejuvenate. It's good product that last fairly long. It's certainly better in my opinion than spending $1k+ for retail grade ceramic coating that realistically lasts 2 years for a basic daily driver.

    Your video was informative and nicely done. I've been using Meguiar's products for years dating back back to the days of their yellow cleaner wax, which was like a slice of a thick candle, with no disappointments. Thank you for posting.

      It’s made to spread. You don’t need to cover it all. You’d overapply it!
      A couple of sprays on a panel, then make it dance with the power washer. It’s made to spread on its own!

    I think for meguiars you can do first layer by hand as you did, rinse it off, mist another go from the sprayer only , and then rinse once again

    The best application for Meg's ceramic wax is a dry application! Proven by many detailers. Btw Marcus (MK's Details & Deep Dives) from Meg's said that there is no wax in this product and we need water just to avoid streaking...

    I'm a Meguiar's hard core user, but in this particular case I will have to decide for the paste option. The reason being that in my location (King County, WA) it's prohibited to wash your car on the drive-way. I know it's so anti-American and stupid, but it is what it is. This is why I dry clean my cars in my garage and twice a year I go with the full deep cleaning (clay-bar) and that's when I deep seal my clear coat. Since I can't make a mess using water, this is my reason to do the paste... Thanks for the video; great work + I love the fact that you are almost as picky as I am. I'm a user, not a detailer and I do believe that nobody will love a car more than the owner. This being said, I believe you come the closest to "owner-standards". I would like to ask you a question: The paste comes in 33ml jars for about $30 and in 250ml jars for about $250; what is the usage per car? How many cars can be treated with the 33ml jar? Thanks in advance and have a good one!

    Hi great videos thanks for your efforts producing these for our benefit. I like meguiars products especially their price points however i felt that the paste wax seemed to bead better at the end, although i did note that you did not follow the instruction for the first application of the meguiars which lays down a base coat, you should miss out step 4 the rinse and go straight to step 5 the towel dry! I would be interested in a video showing the difference between the 2 application methods of the meguiars?
    Thanks Peter

  • @UNKA757

    I believe I would apply it differently, at least for the 1st time.. I spray on heavy initially while wet, then a microfiber is used to wipe the panel while the product is on to distribute evenly, then the panel is rinsed ( High Pressure), then dried. For maintenance applications, I would do what was basically shown in the video here. Overall, I think the Product is pretty good for the Price...some of these Ceramic coats are just preposterous in cost.
    Additionally, your presentation was excellent.

I 've hit it with Citrol, Super Clean, Purple Power V&B and Zep truck and trailer wash 13 - 14ph and Dawn Platinum 4x. Most of the truck is still beading but the top looks weak. I guess I'll have to try polishing it off with some TW One and Done I have.

    I always prefer paste form, but if the price is right I will try it once. Have you tried Chemical Guys Swift Wipe Waterless Wash? I use it on my tool box at work, I personally love it. The sealant it leaves behind, is probably slick enough that I bet Bo Duke won't slide across the hood the General Lee again.
    Brian, screw those who griping about your process. I appreciate the free education, after all I did pay 15,000 for the automotive technology course at Lincoln Tech. I am a trailer mechanic for a fleet and been doing it for 15 years and been great at doing it for the last 11 years. In those 15 years I have seen and done a lot of rework that the mr. know-it-alls fucked up. I really do like the way you break stuff down to explain the why and how it works. I use that same method when I train people, but I also kind of allow them to make some mistakes and I tell them about some of mine. which allows me to explain what they did wrong and to get them to think different.

    I spray it with a power washer, and when doing so, I can just make the water/spray “dance” on the surface, prolonging contact. This seems better than the way you were spraying it off as you would when finding a panel of soap.

    Manufacturers use the term “wax” for people that are used to the term “wax” having meaning. HCW just like NXT “wax” contains no carnauba or montan wax. The new buzz words are ceramic and SiO2, similar to Teflon was used a few years ago. Remember Polycharging? Polymers are what are actually doing the heavy lifting in these products.

    Merry Christmas to you and your family Brian. I think I will stay with my Angelwax products since I only do 2 cars. I noticed on the Meguiar's when you rinsed it off it seemed the bottom corners didn't get covered as well. The area where the product was sprayed instantly beaded. I like the smaller beading on the Angelwax side. Also the duration is better with the Angelwax. I know Angelwax is more expensive and if running a business the Meguiar's would be better cost wise. Thank you so much for this great video explaining how they work and for all the fantastic video's you have shared with all of us.

    How about wetting the panel, spray it on, wipe with moist towel then powerwash for even coverage

  • @andygold
    @andygold 5 лет назад

    As per Megs, you shouldn't use more than 3 or 4 trigger pulls for a full hood. Over-applying causes the product to not work well. It makes it hard to remove the surfactants and non-active ingredients. The pressure from the hose is designed to spread the product. So, basically, less is more. The first coat should be done on a slightly water-wet panel, and spread with a MF, drying it as you wipe it in. Once this base layer is applied, you can spray a second super fine mist of product on to a water-wet panel, and hose it off... Which spreads it. Then dry using your preferred method. You applied way to much product and it appears that there was still a huge amount of non-active ingredients still sitting on the panel.

    Good video Brian but surely Angelwax Enigma QD would have been a fairer comparison to the Megs Ceramic Spray Wax?

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  5 лет назад +1

      That one is a quick detailer as The Enigma wax is in the same family....both fun to play with.👍🙂

      @@apexdetail85 Can't agree with that bud. You can't categorize a product purely on it's marketing name as it is way more than just a quick detailer.
      Being a liquid it will be way more comparable to the Megs Ceramic Spray Wax, similar to something like Carpro Reload and Gyeon Wet Coat imo but comparing a watered down Si02 spray wax/sealant to a paste wax isn't really fair.
      Unfortunately it is the way the marketing is heading these days though, no more can you assume a product with 'spray wax' in it's name is just that. Market is over-complicated and over saturated with products advertised as one thing but is actually another product completely.

    Have you had an issue with the sprayer for the Meg's ceramic product? I ask because I wanted to try it on my wheels and it leaked all down the trigger.
    I took the balance of the product and poured it into my empty bottle of 007 Gloss Enhancer with its GREAT sprayer.

    Can you use this on a plasti dipped car that has glossifier on it???

  • @7071t6

    Again if meguiars silica dioxide molecules will work only if the surface areas are prepared correctly and totally free of any contaminates, so that means polishing the surface to make it perfectly smooth and no swirl mark's IPA wipe down, then either use a Meguiars microfiber 6" Damp pad and spray a little on the damp pad to apply to each area of around 2FT SQ and then rinse it and wipe down or again polish the car and IPa wipe down and then simply spray the product directly to a wet surface and rinse with hi pressure water nozzle and then use a microfiber towel to dry it and the same can be done with your wheels, but again the cleaner the surface the better the bond no matter which brand or products used as a sealant? Looks like Meguiar's is trying to get into the PRO series of detailing products like CAR Pro and others, also noticed you did not mention what the cure time was for the angle max and how long is it till you did the test panel to show the difference, the spray silica dioxide meguiers products would be quicker, but again it all depends on what car you have and how much care you take with it ?

    Your drying towel is not very absorbent. Did you wash your towels with fabric softener?
    Also, I would prefer the paste wax for durability but I also prefer the spray on for quick and easy coating. So it could go either way, just depends on what my customer wants to spend. Merry Christmas!
