For all the reasons you mentioned, I am happily holding on to my XE2 and XPro2 - manual controls, great build quality (made in Japan) , larger viewfinder before they started shrinking it, IS in my original 18-55 which is a perfect travel lens, and many other reasons. I do not care for the X100 line as I want to change lenses and am happy with the original Fuji primes 18mm f2 and 35mm f1.4.

I like my camera to have very high resolution sensors, so X-Trans 5 sensor of 40MP would be nice!

The features of an X-E5 will all depend on the price point.
If Fuji release an X-T50 in an X-E5 body it will be priced the same.
However, I think Fuji may go a different way and make the X-E5 the entry level £1000 body
Fuji have pretty much said that with the 40MP IBIS is required, I'll not go into technical details here. As Fuji have managed to squeeze IBIS into the X100 VI it is possible (although maybe expensive)
Fuji's 4.5/5th Gen line up currently (ignoring current price reductions, and X100VI)
    X-S20 - £1249 (4th gen sensor, 5th gen processor with IBIS)
    X-T50 - £1299 (5th gen HR sensor 5th gen processor with IBIS)
    X-T5 - £1699 (5th gen HR sensor 5th gen processor with IBIS)
    X-H2 - £1849 (5th gen HR sensor 5th gen processor with IBIS)
    X-H2s - £2499 (5th gen Stacked sensor 5th gen processor with IBIS)
If the X-E5 is released as the new entry level (if £1000 is entry level) I could see it shipping with 4th gen 26MP sensor and 5th Gen Processor.
Maybe to hit the price point it doesn't have IBIS it has UHS 1 sd card slot, and maybe only kit option is the XC 15-45 (which has stabilisation)
If it is photo first, stabilisation is not a big deal at such short focal lengths, so if at 50mm to hand hold you'll need to keep your shutter speed above 1/60.
If it is just an X-T50 in a different body, it'll be the same price, meaning to shoot on fuji outside of sales you'll need to part with £1249 as a minimum for a new camera. Canon, Sony, and Nikon have entry level cameras all available for half that price.
I love my fuji cameras, but when i started i got an X-T10 for £500.00, granted now I have upgraded and use X-T5, X-T3s and X100 VI. But when i started out all those years ago, I would not have joined the fuji system with an entry level price of £1249

Very good summary, thanks for that. I don’t like the way Fujifilm is going with the xt50, but I guess they ‚had to‘ change something and what they did would be the logical upgrade from the xt30 II.
Nevertheless, I hope you’re right that the xe5 will be fujis new entry level camera.

@@lukasbenjamin_ the X-T50 has to be priced higher than X-S20 to protect both X-S20 sales, and X-T5 sales.
If the entry point for 40MP and 5th Gen processor was £1000 ... It would hurt the sales of the X-T5 ... Same image quality and autofocus for a fraction of the price, so I understand the reasons for pricing the T50 so close to the T5
What surprised me was that after the X-S20 I thought all the mid-range would be 26MP with new processor

I have taken many amazing photos with XT2 but have given it to my niece...now I use the XT3 but want 4 new cameras...in the coming years I will buy the xpro4 and the GFX 50II, hoping they come out in 2025 and will eventually buy the XT6 and x100vii whenever they come out....then I am done.

Call me mad, but I really hope the X-E5 gets a tilting viewfinder like the Panasonic GX9. I own this camera, and find the tilting viewfinder a great feature, as my back isn't the best. It would also give the X-E5 a unique ergonomic attribute, like the X-T50's film sim dial. I don't find myself flipping the GX9's finder very often inadvertently, so providing the mechanism is designed suitably, it shouldn't cause a problem for those who don't plan to use it.
I'd also hope to see the 40MP sensor for the biggest IQ benefit, as the camera will no doubt cost at least £1000, which is a lot of money for many (myself included). Besides that, I hope Fuji allows us to adjust functions like saturation, colour chrome effect and even WB independently for each film simulation, for better 'recipe' creation. IMO, the X-T50's film sim dial was just asking for this feature...
