    I use that set up for hiking with the XT-3 mostly, sometimes with the XT-5. Great combo for unexpected opportunities in the trails here in Colorado. When I travel in a plane and I know I will be birding a lot I bring the 100-400mm with the 1.4 extender. And when I travel by car I bring the 150-600mm. Love all the combos. BTW, you are the first one that mention the voice recorder. Thanks, will be using that feature from now on.

    Nice to see you again Jorge, really good and thorough review (and very good images). I’ve been using the XF70-300 with the 1.4 TC (on the X-T4) and I’m more than happy with the results that I get, absolutely no image degradation whatsoever. I’m still “thinking” about getting the X-T5, I understand the improvements over the X-T4 but I just don’t see that the end result (image quality) for my type of photography will improve significantly. On a separate note, did you keep the Viltrox 75 f/1.2 and are you satisfied with the results (image quality) and mechanically (built quality and ease of use). Be well and stay safe.

      @@jrperezphotography I do remember seeing reviews on the 2X TC a couple of years ago and they were not very positive, the recommendation was to get the 1.4, there’s a you-tuber (that I don’t follow) that goes by the name “the angry photographer” and he says that he would never buy the 2X TC because of image degradation, on the other hand, another you-tuber “during the meanwhilst” is using the 2X on the XF50-140 and doesn’t see any image degradation at all. I just did a search on you-tube and found a review on the 2X using the XF50-140 by “Jet Photo” and there’s definitely image degradation. On a separate note and for whatever it’s worth, when I got the 1.4 from B&H I asked the salesman about the two teleconverters and he said that the 2X was not a big seller, that most photographers bought the 1.4

    I have the 70-300mm lens and the 1.4X teleconverter and use them with the X-S20 camera. For wildlife, the aperture and shutter speed are manually set and Auto ISO is used. LIVE VIEW HIGHLIGHT ALERT is set and the exposure compensation dial on the left can be used to ensure that the image is not overexposed and that can easily happen on animals with a lot of white.
    I went to the States last month to see the solar eclipse then went to New Mexico and Arizona. The above camera setup along with an X-E3 and the 18-55mm easily fitted in my backpack and easily fitted in the aeroplane cabin.
    I didn't know about recording speech, but I saw somebody doing this about 15 years ago but didn't pay attention to what camera it was.

    Hi Jorge. Nice to hear the 1.4 doesn't really affect the image quality and autofocus. Therefore, I'll probably get the teleconverter soon cause it'll be very useful for surfing.
    Have you tried the 70-300 since the firmware update? It can now focus while zooming, so it's even better than what it was before.

    • @jrperezphotography
      @jrperezphotography  9 месяцев назад +2

      Surfing photos will be a challenge specially if you have to deal with glimmering highlights on the waves. A few months ago the extenders were on sale about $100 off regular price

      @@jrperezphotography to be honest the lens has been great for surfing so far and the teleconverter will mean less cropping, which will definitely help. I use back button focus, single point and a custom setting for autofocus similar to "ignore obstacles". It works really nicely with those settings for surf.

      Hello perfect on the settings it’s great to hear that it’s performing well for you in very challenging situation. The Fujifilm 70-300 just had a firmware update to improve the focus issue the lens had while zooming. I believe the 70-300 is one of the best budget zoom I’ve ever used and the fact that you can use Fujifilm extender’s withe lens is awesome. @@nomadictimbo9185

      @@jrperezphotography wow!! For a pro sports photographer like you who has used the 200 F2 and 50-140 to say that is quite a statement! (I saw your other video where you used the X-T3 and 50-140 for American football).
      Speaking of the 50-140, that'll probably be my next lens because I'll be doing Dressage events this year and some of it will be in low light. I'd love to get the 90 F2 because I already have two zooms with the 70-300 and Tamron 17-70 2.8, but I can't help but think the 50-140 will be more convenient because of its versatility and compatibility with the teleconverter.

    • @jrperezphotography
      @jrperezphotography  9 месяцев назад

      Hello I did say budget zoom. The 50-140 I use for sporting events I really don’t use as much as I should because the size and weigh. On trips I like working with fixed lenses and the 70-300 is the one zoom that always makes it in my camera bag. If you are photographing indoor sports and events the 50-140 is a must have lens. If you want the lens for day time sports the 70-300 may be all you need. For daytime sports you may want to consider the 100-400 lens, it’s 600mm equivalent on apsc cameras.

    How are the files handled in terms of EXIF data regarding the focal length with the teleconverter? Is the correct focal length written in the file, multiplied by 1.4?
    Great review and pictures by the way 👌👍

    I’m a former 20+yr Canon shooter who has switched to Fuji. I absolutely love my XH2S & my XT3. I don’t use either for video & wish Fuji would have given their flagship camera the new 40 megapixel sensor. Nice video, which zoo were you at?

    • @ThomasPetzwinkler
      @ThomasPetzwinkler Год назад +1

      Fuji did give their flagship the 40 Mp sensor. It’s called the X-H2. The X-H2S got the stacked BSI 26 MP sensor for speed. They have 2 flagship cameras.

    Just wanted to point out that all zoom lenses do that. If you keep it in continuous tracking it shouldn’t lose focus when zooming.

      @@jrperezphotography I must be misunderstanding your issue. So how would you specifically describe its behavior? I’ve been shooting Nikons for years and never really had a problem so I am wondering what the issue is here and how I can try to avoid any issues as I am considering this lens for my X-T5. Does the camera just take a shit and stop tracking when you zoom in or out and are in tracking mode?

      They just had a real nice firmware update that really takes care of the issue. They will also be bringing a new firmware update for the 16th to 80 mm lens I believe in the month of February.
