I’m curious, I currently own a Y and a 2016 75D. I don’t want to sell my MS due to unlimited charging, and panoramic roof. I’m also afraid I might not get what it truly is valued at. With 90k miles, always garaged, and 100% PPF Expel on it since day one- it’s a limited version - I think. What did you get for resale? What’s truly the difference from 75D vs. what you have now? Thx
@@NjoyLife_yall I am keeping my 2016 75d for much the same reasons as you have your concerns. It has unlimited everything and an FSD beta. I am not sure what the optimal value for a car like this could be. I am even considering replacing a battery which is still technically under a warranty. The car drives like new. 👍
Great review Eduardo! I think this is the first legitimate review that's not based on a day's use. Goes in depth over all of the key aspects and you even showcased everything in great detail. Thanks for the hard work, hope this car will last you for years to come!
Great video! Covered all the questions I had. I also currently have the Model Y Perf and I recently ordered a Model S LR. This video has me so excited to receive the Model S!
The display/speedometer behind the wheel actually makes this interior so much better looking than the Model3 and Y... This car costs around €40 000 more than the "Y" where I live, but I'm seriously thinking of getting the "S" just for the much bettet looking interior.... Great review BTW!
Great review, very informative. Took delivery on my 2021 Model S refresh one month ago. Traded in my previous 85D (2015 vin 80xxx) which I loved. Very happy with all of the upgrades and in general it is a much better car than my original. I did not spring for the full self driving and so I was disappointed to find out that summon is not included with the vehicle unless you opt for the full self driving. I used summon frequently with the old vehicle as my garage is very tight.
Congrats on your new car! Had a question about your trade in. Did you trade In to tesla directly? If you did, do you have to give the car back in original condition? I have a performance y 2021, and I wrapped it, tinted it, and added some exterior and interior mods. Don’t want to remove everything and go through all of that if I end up trading it in in the future haha
Indeed, I currently have EAP and Summon is included. Should I order a new one, both FSD and EAP have Summon included. Here in EU it is however severely limited. Theoretically, you have to stand within 6m of the car, but in practice, you need to be next to the car on either side to be able to activate Summon. Half of the time it doesn’t want to work. But if it works, it is a great help.
Honestly, the Plaid is crazy and awesome, but the Long Range version deserves just as much hype considering its a 10 seconds car still, and is as quick as a Taycan turbo past 60mph. 0-60mph Tesla throttles it. Anyways, for 80-90K depending on when you ordered it, the Model S is such a bargain since it costs almost 50% less than a Plaid.
The license plate removal reminded me to let people know how to safely and easily remove a glued residue such as the 3M tape holding the license plate bracket. It's Naphtha. Just pour a small amount onto a paper towel and rub it on the area. Naphtha won't damage paint or plastic. I'm told that nail polish remover is Naphtha. However, the most common way I buy it is a container of cigarette lighter fluid. Not the butane gas type, but the old-fashioned lighter fluid for lighters that use a wick. The most common brand of this is Ronsonol and it comes in a yellow bottle with blue lettering. Naphtha is safe to use on anything as far as I've ever known, as it's not absurdly strong and toxic like magic marker or graffiti remover. I've been using Naphtha for years to remove price tag stickers, bumper stickers, and anything else that uses an adhesive to make it stick-on. After using it I give the area a light soapy wash and rinse, and in the case of car paint apply a coat of wax to the area.

Thank you for this review! I take delivery of my 2023 Model S LR next week, so I needed to watch this. I’m so excited!!! I’ve had my eye in the Model S since it’s inception so this has been like 10+ years in the making! 🥹
Thank you for this video on the Tesla Model S LR! 🎥 The 99% of videos talk only about the PLAID, which is exceptional, but the LR is great for traveling 🚗💨.
Just bought a 2024 model 3 refresh and after watching this I have mad regrets lol. the 2021 year specifically with the yoke. I heard it took a lot of the features found in the model S. Now I want a model S for the hatchback, Yoke and the nice screen on the Dash. A model S used is now the same price as a new model 3 AWD long range. The model 3 look like a teenagers car with stupid marketing features you don't need (ambient lighting, rear screen).
Not sure if this has been asked before but what is the practical driving range not just the ideal both at 100% and/or at 80% charge what are you actually at getting in terms of real world range? Great video, btw. Thanks.
Thanks for your review. Glad to hear Homelink is standard on LR MS. I was expecting to pay for upgrade to get it. It has been standard on all our Tesla's (2 - MS's and 2018 M3). Very much looking toward delivery of my LR MS in December.
I’m sooooo excited! I originally ordered (last September) a Model SLR white/white. I almost immediately regretted the white interior but said, “ahhhhh it’ll be ok.” I received a call a few days ago that my Advisor wanted to discuss their current inventory with me. My delivery date was originally April ‘22. In the meantime we bought a house and a truck so when we got the call that the car was ready on January 27, 2022, I wasn’t ready with financing. Ugh. So they put me back in line. Cool. Then I get the call about cars in the inventory. I get an email this morning with a RANGE of colors! Grey, Blue, Black and Red! Varying interiors. I am so happy because I wasn’t sure about the white/white. Taaaa daaaaa! I was assigned the car and now have a VIN and a pickup date! Next Tuesday at 1pm. Yeeeeee haw! 🥳💃🏽🤩🎊🎉❤️🙏🏽👏🏽🍾🥰💕 And it is earlier than my original assigned date and a color I’m happy with! I picked the RED with black interior.
Thanks for the video review. Your model S has a few similarities of my model Y LR vehicle. I like the hatchback style of my model Y. It is great that you can get 405 mile range with the model S. The model Y was more affordable for me than going for your awesome model S. Thanks and Take care.
If I had to improve one thing I would say the cameras quality. It'll be nice option for those who want to increase all 4 cameras to higher quality: 1080p, 2k, 4k. And just give it a price to increase this
Enjoy your car. In Finland we have 0 new model S cars on the road yet. I ordered 2 model S long range versions a year ago and the latest estimate is that I still have to wait 8 more months.
The FRUNK should be POWERED in the S. We love our 2020 LR AWD Y but after getting a ride in a Plaid S I'm now lusting for an S albeit an LR AWD. I hope they address the led tail lights and charge port, it does out outdated. Great review. Thanks
Frunk cannot be powered because it needs the two-stage latch. Having a single (electrically actuated) latch would introduce a single point of failure that adds risk of the hood releasing when you don’t want it to, i.e. at highway speeds.
Ordered a blue with white Model S Long-Range in June and was told December 2021. Then that changed to February 2022. Then back to December 2021 a month ago. Now it appears I may get my car in a week or two, so late November 2021. It's been a wild ride, but hopefully worth it.
I have the same car roughly one month now I put about 8500 miles miles totally love the car. The one tiny comment I often hit the windshield wiper or the horn button on the yolk accidentally but I’m guessing also muscle memory. I do agree turn signals will be better on the left and right side of their yolk but maybe up coming up grade either way great video thank you
Interesting! FYI, I think Autopilot is software limited. Here in different EU countries it is limited to 150kph and will not work above that on a 2.5 hardware 100D (speed limits are 120 and 130kph). It will not allow you to accelerate above this speed either: the car refuses and shuts autopilot off abruptly with lots of warnings. You’ll have to come to a standstill, put it in park before it will work again. On the derestricted German Autobahn however, this refusal doesn’t activate. The Autopilot still won’t work above 150kph, but it just soft limits, it doesn’t abruptly disengage or refuse service.
I very much enjoyed your video. I am scheduled for the exact same configuration to be delivered to me towards the middle of October. I am very interested as to what accessories you think are reasonable for the vehicle. My current checklist calls for the flat tire kit, car mats, car mats for the trunk, a 500gb hard drive for sentry, and possibly tinting. Not sure if I should purchase any of these before I get the vehicle. Looking forward to your thoughts on all this.
Mine is arriving in a couple of weeks. As to ordering accessories in advance, don't get the all weather mats unless they say they are for the refreshed model. Tesla told me they changed from pre-refreshed models.
Nice review, appreciate the attention to detail. Question: 1) on the std tempest wheels, when you remove the air cover the hub shaft is exposed, is there a dust cover / cap for this? 2) what is the finish of the wheels like, are they polished?
I have a model Y performance and am thinking about possibly moving to a 2022 model S long range. Being that you have both, can you compare the interior space and cargo capacity between the two? We're a family of 5 and while the kids rarely ride in my Y together, we do want the option. Between the S and Y which do you think is a better vehicle for family hauling?
Hi, yes nice review. I have a 2018 Model S 75D and am waiting on my MS LR to be delivered next month. (Ordered it in May!) The tempest wheels that you have look different than the ones on the Tesla website. I thought they were more silver and gray but yours look black or charcoal, which actually look pretty good. I was going to buy some different wheels other than the “bargain” price of $4500 from Tesla. Also I ordered the black interior and am thinking of taking my car to a detail shop in Carrollton Texas that can put a real leather interior in for $3500 vs paying $2000 for a “vegan” fake leather.
HotshotTek, great review. You mentioned that you’ve driven the new S on several long trips. I’m curious under normal conditions what real world range are you observing? 405 mile EPA works out to ### in real world highway driving? Again, very informative review. Thanks.
Hello. Great review of the model s. I have a model s ordered and currently have a model 3. The model 3 ride is extremely bumpy. Can you tell e how the ride is on the model s opposed to your model y? Thanks and good luck.
Very useful Eduardo, thanks! Regarding your radar detector, which one do you recommend to avoid false alarms/it being an unnecessary distraction? I'm getting a 2022 Model S in a few months and can't wait. Thanks, Jim
I bought a Valentine One 2nd generation. Mike Valentine was the inventor of the Passport Radar Detector in the mid '90's. My new 2021 Model S LR likes to get out and run.
The refresh LR is FASTER than the outgoing Raven Performance and previous P100D One owner has taken it down the 1/4 mile drag strip and bested a 10.8 at 130! For reference, I currently have a P100D (am taking delivery of a Plaid next week) and my best has been a 10.8 at 123, so the new LR is definitely faster at highway speeds
Have you found any sources that produce constant power when the car is off. Trying to figure out how to install a power frunk with the new battery the car has. Delivery is in one week
Thx for a thorough review, I ordered the same car as yours x-cept in grey, delivery in November, ordered in June. I had similar experience with the thin tires on my M3P so I also got the Tempest wheels, fully agree the bigger tires are safer. Any feedback on the actual range you are getting vs the 405 miles they claim?
Hey outsider, different long range owner here. I recently drove from Monterey to LA with the same specs. Driving 75-90 on the highway, I only got around 300miles per charge. The car had me going to charging stations every 150 miles or so, but the new battery took only 10-15 minutes to charge those 150 miles. That was at an average of 333 Wh/mile. To get the full 405, the average has to be in the neighborhood of 240Wh/Mile, which means no AC, no "insane acceleration," and as far as my experience has gone, no autopilot. I've found I'm more efficient than autopilot on battery usage. Hope this helped!
@@sandfox4302 very helpful, thx. I'm expecting no more than 300 mile range, which will be quite an improvement over the 2020 M3P I currently have, which barely gets 200miles!
To get the 400 miles you will need to drive in chill mode and deactivate autopilot (if you don’t deactivate the sensor still usin a lot of energy reading all traffic signals
Actually we had two Corvettes. The Model S wins hand down. When we pass a Corvette on the road, my husband laughingly comments "Slow poke!". When we pass a Prius, he laughs "Gas hog!"
I don’t own a Tesla, but from what I’ve heard, it all depends on if you value range, storage space, or money. This is more expensive than the Y, but with a way better range. It sounds like it has good storage space, but if you’re a family that needs to haul a bunch of furniture or something, then the Y could be better.
The Y feels like a cheap econobox with a noisy interior and rough ride compared to the luxurious ride and interior of the S. Plus you look like a badass pulling up in an S and a soccer mom in a Y.
I got a 2019 Model 3 and am already financially planning to upgrade to the new Tesla Model S in a few years lol.... Hopefully before the next major FSD upgrade and price hike >.
I’m sort of doing the exact thing you are. I’ve ordered a Model S LR, but it won’t be ready until February. To hold me over until then I’ve also ordered the Model Y Performance. Did you have any issues swapping vehicles logistically with Tesla? Did you do a private sale of your Model Y, or did you trade it in?
I have 7000 miles on my model s long range. It's my first electric car and I'm still so in love with it. I almost can't believe I own it sometimes.

Valentine One, 2nd Generation radar detector is what I have in my 2021 Model S Long Range. Works great!
Good video and nice car. The yoke steering wheel should be 180 degrees or less lock to lock
Do you think the S is a lot better then the Y. I have the Y and have ordered the S. After you have owned both would you go back to the Y
Absolutely everything
The refresh LR is FASTER than the outgoing Raven Performance and previous P100D
One owner has taken it down the 1/4 mile drag strip and bested a 10.8 at 130!
"Beavin' better" love it!
Don't confuse HP and torque.
The headline references a range test. Where is it?
Great video👍
How is getting in and out of the Model S. Does it sit as low as the model 3 ?
Did you consider going from Y to X? What lead you to a car after life in the crossover? Thanks again!
Model s or corvette c8 hard choose 🙄
Actually we had two Corvettes. The Model S wins hand down. When we pass a Corvette on the road, my husband laughingly comments "Slow poke!". When we pass a Prius, he laughs "Gas hog!"
Was it a significant jump in insurance rates from a Y to an S?
Coming from a Model Y, do you feel like this is the better choice (or at least not a compromise) for an all around daily driver?
I don’t own a Tesla, but from what I’ve heard, it all depends on if you value range, storage space, or money. This is more expensive than the Y, but with a way better range. It sounds like it has good storage space, but if you’re a family that needs to haul a bunch of furniture or something, then the Y could be better.
The Y feels like a cheap econobox with a noisy interior and rough ride compared to the luxurious ride and interior of the S. Plus you look like a badass pulling up in an S and a soccer mom in a Y.
what's your home charging setup like?
I got a 2019 Model 3 and am already financially planning to upgrade to the new Tesla Model S in a few years lol.... Hopefully before the next major FSD upgrade and price hike >.
Lol, you jinxed it
What’s kind of issues have you had with it?
13:56 is that near Uc davis? 😗
What year is your Tesla.
