I’m thinking about replacing my 2015 MS with one in the next year or two. My “problem” is while mine has 210,000 miles, it still has 89% battery .. no rattles at all and still looks and drives as new. Tough to justify flipping this car. My thinking is it is fully depreciated now .. drives as new .. so keep driving it.
I have the same car-got mine Feb 2022. The Yoke is amazing and much more comfortable to use that on our other S. It fits perfectly. My elbow rests comfortably on the center console and my hand fits perfectly on the Yoke and my thumb rests on the hook of the Yoke. The hooks on either side are ergonomic and useful. I've never had the Yoke rub on my knee. I've had more than expected battery degradation. It charged to 405 when brand new, but after 8 months would only charge to 375. When taking a normal trip, you get about 90% of the displayed miles, but on our 2016 S we always got about 105% or our stated range. It is very fast and I never "floor it" as it is unsettling to my equilibrium...Insurance is crazy, about $2300/year in North Carolina. Beware of the depreciation! My "like new" S had 18k miles and 15 months old and thought about trading for a new X. Carmax and Tesla would only offer 55K, Autonation 59K. A new S sells for about 89K. Better to stick with the lower priced Y to reduce that hit. Beware of battery drain with Sentry mode. I had it parked in the cruise port terminal and after 4 days lost 150 miles in charge. I guess with all the cars moving within parking terminal the system was always activated. Glad I had just charged before parking. The car (Teslas) are amazing to drive with the smooth power and one pedal driving. Their fit and finish are below average. Just about everything on the car feels "loose", not tight or solid. It feels cheaply put together, and its a $90K car. We just bought a RAV4 hybrid XSE and if feels better made that the S. I agree that Autopilot seems worse. Removing the sonar and radar is not an improvement. Also, Teslas need a 360 deg camera. There is a huge blind spot in front of the car. Clearly there is room for improvement and other brands/cars have moved beyond Tesla in many ways though I agree that Tesla's autopilot system is the most convenient. Also, removing all the physical controls-though looking more clean-is less functional. Trying to use the touch display while driving is hazardous. You need to learn the voice commands (change temperature, activate seat heaters, open glovebox, etc.) otherwise you might have an accident....Its much easier to just grab the temperature knob on the RAV to adjust it as an example. I would buy another Tesla but will wait for a "new generation".
Yes I paid 110k$ for a dual motor model X and when it delivered after 7 months of waiting the alignment on the body panels were all way off and bothered me and I had it sent back to be fixed and had to wait another 2 months for them to fix it and even still it’s not perfect I could’ve got a Mercedes for the money I put on the Tesla but it’s not my only car so not a bid deal I drive it twice maybe a week and I do like it still range is decent
$4500/yr to own and operate isn't crazy, but don't forget depreciation and interest. Now it gets crazy, but likely comparable to other $80k cars. Love that car!
A real enthusiast would get the yoke??? Imma say no, It’s not a Formula 1 car and its not a airplane…if it ain’t broke don’t fix it…round wheels always work…the yoke does not determine who is a real enthusiast and who isnt
I do wish Tesla would tweak the steering ratio so you wouldn't need a FULL rotation of the wheel to get the car to make some maneuvers. AP is all I have ever used and needed even after trying FSD, it's great in STOP and GO traffic but I would love to buy AUTO LANE CHANGE if they would offer that as a stand-alone option. It's brilliant and works flawlessly. The tires are STAGGERED not SCATTERED.
I don't think it's possible to tweak the steering ratio with a mechanical steering column, but they could do that on cars with drive-by-wire (like the Cybertruck)
With regards to the horn..... Did you wait until you actually needed to honk at a car before you tried to learn how to honk, or did you practice honking a few times before the need-to-honk happened?
@@ripfluffyman9972People who are sane. All this extra torque and horsepower in the hands of most teens and younger adults have sent multiple families and loved ones to heaven because they like to “flex”.
Honestly I've been saying that, you steal, lose a hand, do it again lose your arm. You do that to a few people and I guarantee it will stop a lot of people from stealing.
Steer by wire does that quick maneuver on the steering wheel. Just like the Cybertruck. Also…the Model 3 Performance steering wheel reaction is great. ⚡️😎
The Yoke you show on the Tesla is similar to what I use for SIM racing on my PC computer. So I would be very used to that kind of steering wheel. It is too bad they don't make Sentry mode standard/free with the vehicle. Not owning a Tesla at this time, not sure what Live Traffic provides and Satellite view-maps provide us on the Display. These are also Premium service. The other Premium items I would really not need, Thanks for your video. Take care.
I've had my 2021 MSP for about 2 years now and have literally spent 0 on repairs or maintenance. Luckily I have tire and rim protection as I've been through about 5 tires and at around 750 each installed from Tesla mobile services it's more then paid for itself. Updated to Matrix lights and power screen and see zero reason for buying a newer one until AI5 is released. This car is incredible and I've owned just about every high end vehicle and exotic and this is honestly maybe my favorite I've ever owned. The only disappointing thing about the vehicle is the interior finish, for 150k which was what my car was stickered @ in 2021 when new it should be a hell of alot nicer
Question does the Model s Have 8 yr / Infinity Mile warranty on the Model s 2014 - 2020? Been doing research and Tesla says it stopped doing that after Feb 2020. I’m looking to buy one and need guidance
Unfortunately you need a steer-by-wire system which is not in any tesla vehicles yet. So right now its all mechanical how its all been forever. I drove a model s not too long ago for a week, and i actually did like the yoke, apart from it being still mechanical and having the horn on the side and other buttons that needs to be rearranged. Haha. Now that they released new model 3 that has the horn in the middle, im sure the next model s would have it too, and hopefully have the steer-by-wire system. Especially now that its so much cheaper im gunning more towards with the model S. Haha, or if the cybetruck ends up being a shitshow 😂
2200 a year? I live in Cali and they’re tryna charge me 600 a month lol and I haven’t gotten a ticket in 8ish years . I’m 35 now. Doesn’t make sense but I really want one due to my work commute and free charging at work ahhh
That’s a good question. I had three Mach-Es, and I can confidently say that the interior built quality is better and can handle abuse, making it perfect forr a family car. However, the model s uses softer material that needs to be handled with care. Nevertheless, the exterior maintains the same tough build quality.
That’s awesome. I have a Mach-E super fun car. Seems like almost all EVs are plain fast. I skipped the Tesla because I preferred the Mach-E’s styling a bit more and less of them on the road. Nonetheless cool car man!

Thank you very much!
Does the Yoke or your hands hit your legs all the time when you turn?
No but I can easily see it doing so, like a long, it’s pretty long than a normal wheel. But with the right adjustment it should be good.
I save about $100 a month in gas with my Model S. It doesn’t even cover my $188/month insurance bill.
