Hey, College student here. I really want to apply for a New York Times Editorial internship but I legit have no experience. Besides taking AP English classes and one TV video and production class I have nothing to add to my cover letter for why I am the best applicant. I have heard that stories make your letter interesting, is this true?
Hi Kyle, quick question? How did you list non-paid opportunities? Maybe under experience and then put (non-paid) or on its own. Like just as Unpaid Opportunities.
Super helpful! Btw I'd like to recommend a tool to anyone who wants to put all their accomplishments in one dashboard with no limit of upload unlike a regular resume. It allows anyone to send a custom job pitch like video presentations to employers other than a cover letter. It's the digital portfolio platform of Sizigi. It def helped me land interviews!!!
since no one responded to this and I'm not sure if you've found an answer, I believe you can use the same cover letter for any job. just revise the wording for each job so it fits the job role. also, update it as you gain job experience and skills.
I believe you can re use lines between different cover letters but since each listing will be slightly different and be for different companies you will likely have to re write most of the letter for each application.
What was your post-college or first job search like?

@@worldofhippos3737 how it go? Did you get the job?
@@brighterdays5270 what about you?
I have to do this for school hello fellow students 🙂
hello 🙂
no experience here lmaoo
HEYALLL 😅 If it weren't for school I'd never write a cover letter. They're quite a drag honestly
1. introduction
2. why you're the perfect fit
3. why the company is a perfect fit for you
4. bundle up main points
5. tidbit about yourself
i feel like this was very vague
Thank you, the cover letters are always the largest hurdle in the application process!
I also put like non paid opportunities down as work experience and volunteer opportunities
Definitely a good thing to do, Kyle. Experience is experience-draw on all of it!
Correct. I agree

2:20 could you share the link of the post that details what you're referring to?
This is great information, Lauren. Thank you. I need to record a podcast episode about cover letters.
Thanks for sharing this information
It it possible to have 1 cover letter for any job or did you need to write a cover letter from scratch for every application?
