I researched these when they became available in California. I can already renew my registration on line and taking 5 minutes to put the sticker on is not an inconvenience. You also have to keep a regular plate on the front of the car in addition to the digital one. So, since I have personalized plates, i have to still pay for them and the digital plate. As far as tracking a stolen car, mine already has that ability and includes immobilizing it. So there is NO reason to invest in this technology at all and I'm a big tech freak.
Very well said. Seems like a cool idea but an “unnecessary” modernization that only keeps us on a monthly pay loop. At this point most things are on monthly subscriptions and it just seems to have a greater impact into consumer expense in the long run. Bad for consumers pockets but great for companies.

yeah, another way to be tracked.... and pay EXTRA for that.... hard pass. For fleets..... maybe but there are tons of fleet tracking options without some fancy, fragile plate
And what happens when u lose yer phone or sum1 steals it?
