This was great! I love the terms; sinkers and floaters. Thank you.

Hullo Carrie, I do enjoy watching your videos! I like how some people say this is a feature not a fault! It is all dependent upon your desired results. I am also a believer that we all have been taught by people that we admire and they influence us and our attitudes! I thought I was a little obsessed with color and paint properties, but I wish I had cards like yours! It is difficult to break away from our basic instructions as we begin to use any art medium! Thank you for sharing all of your ideas and thoughts on how to create wonderful art with watercolors! Please take care and keep going just as you are!

    This is a great video!
So water colors have close to same “chemistry” about weight of different colors!
In acrylics (white is always a heavier color), then black and metallics can sink!
Thank you and going to try and see which colors are surfers & sinkers!
Except for acrylics you are first person to mention this & now see why certain wet on wets do don’t come out as expected. Any chart that lets you know (weights of colors) or just test lots of colors wet on wet? Tyvm.

So glad you liked the video 😄. As for your question - I haven't seen any charts that determine sinkers or surfers but I've noted how my paints work in my own chart. It's pretty easy to test your own paints - just experiment with a wet-on-wet technique. 😄

Love your videos! What brand of paints do you recommend as having the greatest range of choices of convenience colors and most reliable for mixing without fiascos?

It feels like you were talking about your friends, describing their character and quirks😊
Obviously you know them very well and I can't get over your tidy and super glamorous folder for colour exploration! If only you could see mine... It's a GOOD thing you cannot see mine! 😂 First off, there's no folder in sight, I have the colour swatches on tiny pieces of paper and they are all over the place strewed about between 2 bookshelves 😂 ( not that they're many of them,I just manage to spread them far and wide) well, you get the picture. And the paint is not my friend, every painting feels like a battlefield!
I am mostly good with graphite, but paint kicks my derrière every time! 😅
Intrigued about the mysterious project 😎

‘Surfer’ and ‘shooting out’ when put on wet can be from ox gall, synthetic ox gall and Qors Aquazol. There is an ingredient some brands include and others don’t. This is more of a factor in my experience than pigment properties. But some pigments move and are ‘pushy’. Nickle Azo yellow and cobalt teal blue are pushy.

      What does “pushy” mean?
