This annoyed me specifically. I remember crying when I first watched the progenitor scene in TNG and then the Romulan commander offering an olive branch of sorts. So they wished to create "Diversity" in the galaxy by...genetically tampering with thousands of species so they would look and act more like themselves. Huh. And I have to admit, while the notion of seeding the universe with the germs of your genetic code and assemblable pieces of a last message, to serve as one final testament, a memorial to a the first species to find itself in a cold, lonely universe is very touching, even romantic or noble...it does kinda fall on it's face a bit when there _was_ intelligent, non-humanoid life in the galaxy. At least some of it even friendly. Like all those silicon-based beings we've seen over the decades. Or at least some of the insectoids. Or the aquatics, energy beings, gaseous form beings, plant people, Kulkulkan... Okay, maybe some of them (or ones like them) hadn't evolved yet, or had already gone extinct. But... _all_ of them? Or maybe they just weren't the right kind of people.

they said the progenitors goal was to "add diversity" . but what they did is the literal opposite of that . they forced all life to look like them (instead of whatever they would have become naturally, which would have been more diverse)
@@MajorGrinin other words, space jesus meets the space nazis
This disaster of a show should have been called STAR TREK: MacGuffin
Thank God Discovery has ended it was torture
Who was Mickey Spock to decide this? Oh that’s right she is Space Jebus! To hell with everyone else then, Mickey Spock says so!
It's too much power for one person to have says the only person with final say 😕😑🙃
I still can’t get over the fact that Star Trek Discovery’s acronym is STD
like pottery
Actually it isn’t. That is something the fans started.
@@TelcomTransmissions Thats's how it works. DS9, TNG, STD. I mean how is it something the fans did?
@@TelcomTransmissions you trying to use the same nomenclature as ST: Voy? the show NEVER did. so it got tagged with STD, not ST: DIS or DISCO or what ever else.
@@dustinherk8124 STTNG , STDS9 , STENT ...
I just want to take a moment to salute Major Grin for making it through five seasons of this horrendous garbage and watching it in enough gory detail to be able to intelligently and thoroughly call bullshit on the entire sad affair... Salute!!
I noticed that while Picard and Crushed were scanning the Progenitor hologram with Tricoders, the Romulan had his disruptor trained on it.
Truly, STD is the most appropriate acronym for that god-awful show. It's irritating, embarrassing, and it just won't seem to go away, lingering years past wearing out its welcome.
life as we know it... except for the arachnid like, Tholians. the Calamarian, changlings, the Horta, the Kelvan (while able to take human form, are not humanoid) the Komar, Q, Lactran, Nacene/"caretakers", pah-wraith/"prophets", Phylosians, Discovery's own "species 10-C", the symbiote side of Trill, Vendorians etc. there was plenty of sentient non humanoid species the progenitors had nothing to do with, based on how the lore describes.
Is there a show that was taken over by woke people where they did NOT put a black woman or black man as the origin of it all ?
They did it in Doctor Who with the little black girl being the original docter, in star trek twice with Michael and now that progenitors as a black woman again, in He-Man when they did it again with a black man as the original he man, and so on
Wait til you see the new Snow White. I can't wait for the Netflix documentary on polar bears!
The progenitors awesome technology is incapable of creating a clone of a person that has the same memories, yet a simple transporter accident created Thomas Riker
Makes you wonder why Starfleet didn't just copy Picard 100 times and make each ship an infallible powerhouse!
So what you're saying is that the Mass Effect relays were here before the Reapers? And that they can use Citadel Station to invade the Milky Way galaxy?
Maybe for season 6 they could have showed what happened to the "beasts that came out of Dexter Remmick when he was shot by phasers and exploded"....
Whatever you do don't do a google search for which groups of people in the world never invented a 'chair' over the course of tens of thousands of years...
These 5 mins are a better put together much bettter, than the whole 5 series of STD.
Babylon 5- You'll be ready for our Vorlon technology in a million years.
STD- Nah, we don"t need this tech, lest trash it.
Time to party on New Earth.
Not to disparage B5. It’s beyond anything STD will ever do. But weren’t the Whitestars a hybrid of Mimbari and Vorlon tech?
@@fishjones4618 Yes, the Vorlons aided in the construction of the Whitestar Fleet, but that was only a minute fraction of technological assistance and presumably nothing like the scientific horrors and delights awaiting mankind’s discovery on that planet. By the time humans finally leave the Earth, they too have reached a semi-corporeal state of matter and energy.
@@sdfried4877 ah. Gotcha. All the more reason to rewatch it! 😊

Watching Sonequa Martin-Green trying to act like she knows how to act is painful...
So much emoshun and divuhrsetay 😭
Im amazed that Michael Burnhams "awe" face looks more like abject horror.
Every time I see David Cronenberg pop up in these scenes I'm like wtf! Like why man... why u do dis
Lost a lot of respect for him
She is like a happy pansexual, no form, individual freedom, total self-assurance. LIke that would happen with pansexuals
idea for proper ending of this show: give the tech to zora. have her jump in both time and space back to the beginning of life in the universe. have the progenitors eventually discover and decipher the tech that eventually ends up in the possession of zora. done.
Going forward, whenever there's some sort of catastrophic loss in Star Trek, and we 100% know that will happen, you should cut to Michael's "what the progenitor's gave us was enough."
Star trek Diversity- the whispering and crying chronicles.
I'd love to have the money to buy Trek, then retcon and destroy all of Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, etc.
"creators creating creators, countless times" given that the universe has a start date you could work it out, ms roll up and use some stuff you didn't build... i guess the race swap does make sense afterall...
that O face moment with michael made me think of The Expanse when james holden got a vision in season 3
anyone else think they just stole Topa's prosthetics from the Orville, and filled the head ridges with plaster? the "modern" version just looks like a female mochlan with some "smooth face" type skin condition
I thought the original looked too much like the Founder.
@@sdfried4877 the same actress (Salome Jens).
@@TroyConvers5000 Well, Jeez, that’s even worse. The Founder’s appearance was silly to begin with. The original concept of Odo was that he was a changeling but he couldn’t quite nail the appearance of a human so he appears as this “fuzzy copy” version. His natural form is a bucket of goo. So have the Founder looking like Odo in a dress when they can perfectly imitate humans made no sense at all.
@@sdfried4877 i think that choice was more so people could easily identify "the bad guy" instead of a "skinwalker" that can be played by background actor #32 or background actor #183 or strait up Arnold Schwarzeneggar if they wanted, swapping each and every scene, like a true Changling would to infiltrate as well as remain hidden, once the Federation started implementing measures to find changlings "hiding" in plain sight.
@@dustinherk8124 Oh I get it. It just made no sense.
Brillant. This video captures the spirit of what i think about this series.
Thank god i stoped watching it after 3rd season, which was painful enough, seeing all previous series getting rewritten, devalued, exploited and abused.
3:33 I need to go back and watch "Contact" again. Props for that!
The writers basically wrote The Chase to explain the LACK of diversity in the Galaxy :D The progenitor even said: we found no one like ourselves, we didn't like that so we influenced life across the galaxy to resemble us :D That's basically the EXACT FCKING opposite of the message the Discovery writers wanted to deliver :D :D :D
When TNG casually revealed the creator of all life on the Universe and then never referenced it again. At least a couple of religions would've sprung up no?
This annoyed me specifically. I remember crying when I first watched the progenitor scene in TNG and then the Romulan commander offering an olive branch of sorts. It waa so meaningful of what humanity could do.
And then one of the writer's of STD watched Jason X, saw David Cronenberg and thought "HE CAN COVER IT UP BECAUSE SECTION 31 BLEEECCK"
Yuck.
We need to create a ST conspiracy theory that explains how every big revelation and technology that wasn't known or existed until TNG was suppressed.
All new treks are just trashy tom parises holonovels. Its the only way this sh*t can be in the same unniverse lmao
We have to treat STD as Highlander 2
So the Iconians and the Progenitors are the same? I thought they were totally different and separated by hundreds of thousands of years?
Dsc writers: huh? Shut up nerd
So it’s the Really Great Replacement Theory?
Michael being formally raised by Vulcans as a Vulcan sure is very very emotional 😂 one of the most emotional characters ever 😂 I’m curious as to what narcissism lead to the progenitors being only black? “We’re to create a diversity” yet everyone is black and female 😂 more like division, preferred them being reddish pink more alien like less human like
were they suppose to resemble the changlings in the original release in TNG?
There was no originality in STD
Was that clip of General Chang from Klingon Academy?
when I thought it couldn`t be worse, Kovich said he`s Daniels😁
