Jackson Bowen You have that right, but then again, Heir has been honest about the content of the channel. He puts out stuff that gets him the most views at the moment. And the most watchtime or whatever it's called. He fully recognizes it's impossible to cater to everyone at the same time. So rather than grumble, I would appreciate the effort on his part to reach out to people like you.
Not only views but it's what he enjoys playing in his limited free time. A lot of the older games he's probably burnt out playing them, putting in hundreds of hours. I know I would be.
Pre Marian Rome. My favourite era of Roman history! Unfortunately the Vigiles are not a pre Marian unit, as they were formed by Augustus to watch for fires in the city of Rome ;(
9.9/10, background at the end is NOT the background for "Hannibal at the Gates" mini campaign! But seriously great to see the classic matchup back in action!
I play it sometimes. But I can't be bothered to spend time and effort learning the math behind it all. So, I usually get rekt by the veterans who are still playing and know exactly how each unit performs. I think it keeps new players from wanting to try the online out as well.
Yea I want a proper sequel to Rome Total War and while Rome 2 was quite good after Emperor edition I still don't feel like it does justice to the great title it followed
but i completely disagree with the idea of a magic-history combined game... i would love a rome 3 but i will be waiting for a long time for the next historical total war so it would piss me of if it is something with "magic" stuff in it...let historical be historical
You know I hit that sale up. I picked up every single Total War game while on sale. I've finally got a gaming PC and these are the first games I'm getting.
Holy Jesus crap. Your fantasy/history merge akin to age of mythology is the sickest idea. Dude the guy who pitches that and takes all the credit is going to get a serious raise
cause of the sale I got back into napoleon. Imperial edition for like 7 bucks or something insane like that. I forgot how fun it is. Also it's nice to have a battle last longer than 15 minutes
thanks for the Rome 2 upload. Pre-marian Rome vs Carthage always awesome! I miss your historical TW gameplays. It's too bad you only play warhammer anymore.
I was super excited to see some stuff from Rome 2 (prior to Warhammer, the Rome era games were definitely my favorite) but then I saw the spaghetti lines...while I know this seems to somewhat still exist in Warhammer, it looks more pronounced and weird in Rome 2. Oh well, still a great video. Can't wait to see your Warhammer 2 content though!
I think Shogun 2 is still the best Total War game up to now, especially with Rise and Fall of the Samurai campaigns. Just disappointing that Japan is so small :D
I get that Warhammer 2 is probably going to take up all your time shortly, but I'd REALLY like to see you also go back to Rome 2 and do a campaign with the latest version of DEI at some point, Heir. I'm a sucker for the time period and DEI really does wonders for the game. Plus if you're playing campaign there won't be the constant spaghetti lines ;)
Depends what the last version was that you played. There's a supply system, manpower, and the latest big update overhauled phalanx's; you can single click an enemy unit for the phalanx to hold the enemy unit at bay, double click will cause the phalanx to advance and cause more casualties, but in turn be more likely to take casualties.
and you don't have to call the Dr Who to fight Sutekh -WH 1 was -33% but it had too much DLC for a B-Day pres to self. When you add them up which is a shame. The Sparta Greek states pack was so fun until everyone declared war on my poor Athena.
king arthur: the roleplaying wargame tried to mix fantasy with history. It was an interesting concept but the gameplay couldnt stand up to total war IMO
I do really like your age of mythology kind of pitch, that's something I really wish they would do for total war arena since it isn't a main lineup thing and I think having those elements of fantasy would make it a lot more standout and interesting
Heir, I feel that CA should keep fantasy to fantasy titles. they can do whatever they want on that end but magic in a historical title, that would just be antithetical to the concept of historical titles.
It was like Rome 2 is awesome! loving theme and good looking units..warhammer..dont know lore or background so meh..4months ago, warhammer was bought...its been 480hours till today :O already preordered WTW2 *pardon my eng, drunk
Please Heir stop saying some chit like you did. Since 2014 Rome 2 is no more a rotten game, you said yourself that this replay was epic, and effectively that's the case. This game is way more strategical, way more diversify and the general ambient of antiquity is awesome. After 3 campaigns on Warhammer I have the feeling that i've already all seen. The map is so small and so are the others factions. I like both, but I seriously prefer Rome 2, even after 1200 hours on it.
Figured I could get away with "Italy based" since the strategy name uses a product that was yet to be named/used, thus why not a country that was yet to be born?
They loose to archers typically as they don't deal damage as quick but deal more armor piercing damage. They are balanced in quite nice I think actually. The Roman player had already lost health in infantry fights which is why his units dropped quick when attacked by slingers in the end.
If he went into testudo he would have taken more damage. The thin lines actually help avoid it best. Definitely testudo should work...but it doesn't work great in this game because of odd missile mechanics.
My favorite historical match up... Carthage vs Pre-Marian Rome. Good times! Hope you enjoy!
Could the roman player have used testudo to defend against the slingers?
HeirofCarthage i used to be your most loyal viewer now i only watch half your vids cuz i hate warhammer and u barely ever play other games
Jackson Bowen You have that right, but then again, Heir has been honest about the content of the channel. He puts out stuff that gets him the most views at the moment. And the most watchtime or whatever it's called.
He fully recognizes it's impossible to cater to everyone at the same time.

Not only views but it's what he enjoys playing in his limited free time. A lot of the older games he's probably burnt out playing them, putting in hundreds of hours. I know I would be.
Lame. It's not a proper pre marian army.. No hastati, and i'm pretty sure Pre marian Rome doesnt have pretorians..
Just as I started getting back into Rome 2 a few days ago, Heir creates some classic Rome 2 content. FeelsGoodMan
EnderAnimations34 Exactly the same thing here!
:)
Pre Marian Rome. My favourite era of Roman history!
Unfortunately the Vigiles are not a pre Marian unit, as they were formed by Augustus to watch for fires in the city of Rome ;(
Man, you planted the seed of Troy when you said have a historical mythical game for the future 😂
Geez heir, you totally inspired the Troy game lol
9.9/10, background at the end is NOT the background for "Hannibal at the Gates" mini campaign! But seriously great to see the classic matchup back in action!
Nice! Been working on getting some Shogun 2 replays. Almost no one plays anymore. :(
There is a Shogun 2 tournament happening atm
challonge.com/bishamonten
If you get any replays let me know!
It's because Shogun 2 is a shit game
Ehmud Sarwar No it isnt, its one of the best total wars
I play it sometimes. But I can't be bothered to spend time and effort learning the math behind it all. So, I usually get rekt by the veterans who are still playing and know exactly how each unit performs. I think it keeps new players from wanting to try the online out as well.
Dude, your Rome 3 idea pitch is the dream!!
Yea I want a proper sequel to Rome Total War and while Rome 2 was quite good after Emperor edition I still don't feel like it does justice to the great title it followed

Funny that you mentioned the recent sale. I got Rome 2 in that sale and am completely new to the game. Found this channel because of that.
Age of mythology, favourite rts of the childhood, now combine that with total war. Feelsgoodman
Oh God! Total War+ Age of Mitology= My death. Really. I would not stop playing and just starw to death hahhah
CA really needs to make it happen.
If you're gonna do Arena vids Heir, could you possibly do like a short explanatory game so we know what you're doing and what abilities do?
I can try to do that yes.
This would be so useful!
Yes Rome 2!!!!!! Listen this game is epic with all of the mods available. Just have to find the right combo that suits you
It does have some very good mods that help it immensely.
HeirofCarthage even with no mods it's cool
Rome 2 + DEI plus sub mods (available on Steam) is great.
@skchalivetlnd EE vanilla is an outstanding game, but it becomes epic when you add mods.
Sneaky Carthaginians... Quite the daring bet as well. If the Roman had some two cavalry units left, things would have been very different.
9:35 Heir gets a call. Who'd ya ignore, Heir?!
Don't remember :)
lol, heir is dedicated to the job
cause of the sale I got back into napoleon. Imperial edition for like 7 bucks or something insane like that. I forgot how fun it is.
Also it's nice to have a battle last longer than 15 minutes
Yea it is a great game. Glad you are enjoying it!
Thank you again for sharing more Rome 2 online games
One of the best online battles of all time! Extremely well executed!
It certainly was a lot of fun to watch
Thank you for the kind words.I am glad you have enjoyed this battle :)
I just bought Rome II and Attila both at 75% off.
Look like Rome is back on the menu boys!
A Total War "Age of Mythology" type game would make me so damn happy...just so long as they had Celts ;)
thanks for the Rome 2 upload. Pre-marian Rome vs Carthage always awesome! I miss your historical TW gameplays. It's too bad you only play warhammer anymore.
Every online rome 2 battle I've seen seems to be on this map.
Can't wait to see your Warhammer 2 content though!
wow he predicted troy in this one
Good to see one of these. I miss your channel
Heir pitched total war Troy lol
BACK TO ROME YAS thank you patchy
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice battle! Keep up the great content.
I love this time period and the factions and units are epic but the spagetti lines hurt my eyes.
Feels Good to be back!!!
So are formations changeable? Or is everything stuck in the long line
I haven't played this total war title, but god damn if that isn't a clean UI.
I think Shogun 2 is still the best Total War game up to now, especially with Rise and Fall of the Samurai campaigns. Just disappointing that Japan is so small :D
Fall of the Samurai was very good to be sure.
love this content the most the rome2 battles are great i like wh too but im a history nerd
Glad you enjoy it!
My favourite total war game
:)
HeirofCarthage omg u replied if u read this please make more rome 2 videos and if u can, play some battles yourself
Man Warhammer has me to hooked to want to play the older games, but I may do it for those die hard fans who would enjoy it. :)
Hey Heir, was wondering if you could do the battle of Pharsalus???
Rome 2! Cool. Rome 2 with the latest DEI mod is a very good game.
This x1000
I may have to check it out soon. What were the latest changes?
Depends what the last version was that you played. There's a supply system, manpower, and the latest big update overhauled phalanx's; you can single click an enemy unit for the phalanx to hold the enemy unit at bay, double click will cause the phalanx to advance and cause more casualties, but in turn be more likely to take casualties.
Latest Rome 2 DEI mod I use (plus assorted sub mods) is now on Steam.
Hey Heir. Do you have any plans in the future, to do another Rome 2 campaign?
Not presently but I haven't ruled it out
HOLY CRAP
This made me so happy!!! :D
+1 on the Age of Mythology Total War
Why do people use spaghetti lines with their infantry? Am I missing something?
The way the unit model AI works give them an advantage this way. (Which doesn't make sense) but that's how it is
Like your CA pitch... 10/10 would buy
When will CA fix spaghetti lines?
Why are all the troops in such long thin formations?
dont worry heir nobody cares about total war arena
The Roman should have had some Rhodesian archers in reserve for revenge!
I think you mean Rhodian. (Southern) Rhodesia was the name of Zimbabwe before it rebelled against the British Empire.
Hi Heir, do you still take replays?
A fantasy Rome game? Yes plz.
How bout Fall of the Samurai online? Hows Patchy doing, I think hes lonely.
and you don't have to call the Dr Who to fight Sutekh -WH 1 was -33% but it had too much DLC for a B-Day pres to self. When you add them up which is a shame. The Sparta Greek states pack was so fun until everyone declared war on my poor Athena.
That charge at 15:25 !!!!
Man those spaghetti lines tho
Great to watch another fascinating (and kind of historical) tw rome 2 battle. Sorry heir, but I am just getting tired of Warhammer
☺️☺️☺️
If CA are bonkers enough to make a second Warhammer right after the first, postulating a Rome 3 soon isn't so unrealistic.
hm the romans could have made use of their testudo until the slingers run out of pebbles... might be counted as cowardly tho
Play more Shogan to fall of the samurai
I may
king arthur: the roleplaying wargame tried to mix fantasy with history. It was an interesting concept but the gameplay couldnt stand up to total war IMO
I think if they did it right like Warhammer it could be really fun
Damn. That was a fight.
good ole spaghetti line 2
jesus i thought spaghetti lines in Warhammer were bad
Hi, I sent you a replay, hope you upload it :) Like
I do really like your age of mythology kind of pitch, that's something I really wish they would do for total war arena since it isn't a main lineup thing and I think having those elements of fantasy would make it a lot more standout and interesting
Yea I could see it working there too
Praetorians vs Zombies!!
They aren't on sale :(
Dang sale must be over. It was a good one.
Heir, I feel that CA should keep fantasy to fantasy titles. they can do whatever they want on that end but magic in a historical title, that would just be antithetical to the concept of historical titles.
It wouldn't be a historical title it would be a fantasy title. Fantasy loosely based on history because of the use of mythology based stuff :)
HeirofCarthage well in that case that's fine but I'm sure everyone wants to see a historical title before they try anything like that.
Since when did Carthago become infested with wood elves?
lolol
Why are the lines so goofy?
It was like Rome 2 is awesome! loving theme and good looking units..warhammer..dont know lore or background so meh..4months ago, warhammer was bought...its been 480hours till today :O already preordered WTW2 *pardon my eng, drunk
Carthage Prevailed
Napoleon total war please!!!
Yes Napoleon, especially with Darth Mod is a good game.
I bought all of the games, $100 worth $400
this video reminds me why i hated rome 2's online battles. fucking long ass single line formations.
Oh God, I hate that long line formation.
anyone else getting flashbacks bc spaghetti lines
PTSD :)
ROME 2 YESSS! :D
:)
So playing spaghetti lines with Italy based troops...go figure.
Javagiba You mean Roman/Latin units, right?
Figured I could get away with "Italy based" since the strategy name uses a product that was yet to be named/used, thus why not a country that was yet to be born?
lol :)
I love R2, probably my favorite TW, but multiplayer videos are soooo lame with those stupid spaghetti lines...
Yea the spaghetti should have been patched out
Slings are rediculously OP, I reckon Rome deserved to win there
They loose to archers typically as they don't deal damage as quick but deal more armor piercing damage. They are balanced in quite nice I think actually. The Roman player had already lost health in infantry fights which is why his units dropped quick when attacked by slingers in the end.
i am totally ok with Rome losing this fight, was nice to see the carthage player using a movie style underdog strategy. Cool replay.
yeah rome!
spaghetti
401!!!
:)
The roman easily could have used testudo
Antonio Michael Testudo is really bad, you become a sitting duck for anything ranged. Yes, you gain more protection, but you become slower
If he went into testudo he would have taken more damage. The thin lines actually help avoid it best. Definitely testudo should work...but it doesn't work great in this game because of odd missile mechanics.
I can't watch gameplay with those spaghetti lines, it's a damn joke
Hi
Hello!
not Warhammer content = best content.
Look at those infantry lines spread as thinly as possible..man this game is garbage.
Thin lines... what a crap. Its just no interesting. Must be real formations
