Maybe add a morale penalty that increases as the ranks decrease to help slow spaghetti line usage. Historically, most soldiers' morale was higher when surrounded by his compatriots.
Rome 2 is a game I both love and hate at the same time. Definitely put serious hours into it and got my money's worth so can't complain. I suppose my only true hate in emperor edition is the pasta that gets served online
Thx for showing us some Rome2 again! I'm very excited to see the new historical title of the series. Hopefully it will not be so buggy as the start of rome 2 was.
There a Few mechanics from older Total War titles I would like to see in the next historical title like... *Merchants* like in M2TW *Rebellion* being able to choose to support the rebels and play as them like in ETW. *Recruit Units of Vassals* R2TW I was going to put diplomats but I know the majority of players now would not like the delay in diplomacy so I left it out.
legendary items for a historical titel could allways be reliques from the religion of your faction, and this would very easy build up with the questbattles but the effecty would most likely only be smt like unbreakable, more leadership, better atk / def just like in warhammer, and im good things they will do it that way in the next historical total war nice vid =)
As someone who only got into total war because of warhammer and is excited for warhammer 2 I can't imagine ever playing a historical one after, it seems like if you play one faction you'd play them all besides skins, there all humans and nothing special it seems like
The difference is not as big as one may think it is, for example playing the nervii, barbarians fighting naked and specializing in ambushes feels a lot like the beast man, or the dwarfen playstyle of sitting back and shooting behind a heavy infantry line can be found in every game unchanged. Magic is often just as impactfull as the unit abilities like head-hunt, and the sieges are a lot more fun. When i go back to rome 2 its mostly because im tired of monsters just smashing trough my lines or if i want a calm and more realistic art style :) A big part of the fun one can get out of a game is based on the role-playing apect, and i really cant identify with the greenskin language or the way my dwarf campaign is fought only against the greenskin, who confederate with every single other ork tribe :/ Very excited for warhammer 2 though!
I dislike Warhammer. I simply don't watch it. You might wanna tell that to everyone who comes to Rome II videos just to complain about the thin lines and lack of magic. To me, they are much more annoying.
Yeah I'm sure it's down to the stupid game mechanics, but still, the aesthetics of it just ruin the whole battle vibe. Can't see the great generals of antiquity forming their men up in lines thinner than supermodels and expecting to get away with it.
The lines are not a problem. Spread out units arnt either. Both are due to poor micro management. Both these are results of not forming your men up properly. Getting them to form up and stand together then clicking on a unit to attack.
12:58 Well that's because both Rome II and Attila were meant to (more or less accurately) reflect their set time period. Of course e.g. Germanic tribes will have similar equipment, buildings and strategies because they were very similar in real life. Warhammer on the other hand is a fantasy world made up for entertainment purposes with a lot of variety and flashy magic. Comparing the two with regards to diversity, economy and playstyle doesn't really work in that sense. 13:35 Warhammer has some of the worst melee animations of the entire TW series imho (spinning swordsmen, spearmen doing reverse jump attacks, melee lords and heroes just have AoE blast attacks). Have you noticed how hardly anyone ever zooms in on melee infantry fights? And we don't need 3-5 minute battles in historical titles, you might as well just auto-resolve at that point. To me historical titles were always about a fun presentation of history, not putting in flashy things to make it look cool.
Stier _ probably why Rome 2 had very little replay value. You end up using relatively the same faction over and over. If you like that sort of thing more power to you.
And enjoying Warhammer-style games is totally fine, too. I would just prefer it if we kept the fantasy stuff in fantasy games. There's still a lot of things you can do to increase replay value, but personally i don't need Caesar casting Fate of Bjuna for that. ^^
Attila was really poor in my opinion not enough of a time difference between it and Rome 2, it could have been a dlc. I'm hyped for the next historical game
seriously thou, just one more last patch to get rid of this horrendous spaghetti line and the game is great, Hell it will even make pike viable and dangerous. And it isn't even hard to code.
its not only in rome 2.In shogun ppl deploy wide,in medieval 2 ppl deploy wide,in atilla,in gunpowder games, but for some reason ppl get mad about thin formations only in rome 2.
There really should have been a moral penalty for these types of formations in Rome II, it makes the multiplayer unplayable since the strategy is just so stupid. Well, at least the single player is very enjoyable.
You'll be waiting for a while though. Let's say Warhammer 2 will get new content for about the same period of time as the first game. Warhammer 1 was released May 2016. It will receive its next piece of DLC on August 10. That's more than a year of content. Warhammer 2 releases on September 28, assuming it'll get the same amount of devotion from the devs, it'll take at least another year until game 3 comes out. Fair enough, it seems Attila will get some new campaign DLC as well as there being confirmed blogposts about two new historical TW titles in the works but who knows when they'll come.
VL123 I'm a fan of Rome total war and other historical games but after Warhammer, these seem so boring lol cannot wait for Warhammer II AND III !!! It's going to be amazing
I really wish he would stop talking about warhammer. Not everyone likes it everytime I click on one of his videos he talks about warhammer more then the actual game he is playing :(
It's Total War. It's perfectly natural to talk about another game in the franchise that you are playing. Especially when both games are still actively supported by Creative Assembly.
Maybe add a morale penalty that increases as the ranks decrease to help slow spaghetti line usage. Historically, most soldiers' morale was higher when surrounded by his compatriots.
Heir thank you once against for the cast! GG to the pergamon player it is not easy to use pergamon the way he did! wp
Rome 2 is a game I both love and hate at the same time. Definitely put serious hours into it and got my money's worth so can't complain. I suppose my only true hate in emperor edition is the pasta that gets served online
"Dude...we lost the war because of a mis-click."
The course of history was changed forever...lol
Thx for showing us some Rome2 again! I'm very excited to see the new historical title of the series. Hopefully it will not be so buggy as the start of rome 2 was.

we need a Total War Rome III , that's what I'm looking forward to
Am I the only one who thinks the spaghetti lines look utterly ridiculous?
J1ffst3r what are spaghetti lines?
Units that have been stretched to only a couple ranks deep.
Thanks for the Rome 2 upload, always appreciate it Heir!
Spaghetti lines....ON ME!!!!
Hey HoC, just want 2 say thanks for all the hours of entertainment and god bless!
What this?!? A Carthage battle from Rome Total War II. I see my sacrifices to Baal have been paying off. Time to get more chickens to sacrifice!
Heir never shows his Total War Warhammer battles
I've been having a lot of fun with the Rome II campaign, but I need to do some multiplayer battles. These give me some good ideas for tactics.
legendary items for a historical titel could allways be reliques from the religion of your faction, and this would very easy build up with the questbattles

Very excited for warhammer 2 though!
360p squad on me!
I think some items could work for morale bonuses in particular.
I got an awesome gameplay selecuid vs rome. I got like 600 kills using agema Cavalry. How do I send heir a replay of the game?
God im so spoiled from Warhammer. I need to appreciate these more
We got it, you like historical battles. Stop commenting about it every single time. He does what he wants.
I dislike Warhammer. I simply don't watch it. You might wanna tell that to everyone who comes to Rome II videos just to complain about the thin lines and lack of magic. To me, they are much more annoying.
What's with the stupidly thin formations?
They look terrible, don't they?
Khaled Al-Mahmoud they wrap better around the enemy when charging. I know it looks stupid af.
It helps with charging and looping around the flanks and the game mechanics in Rome 2 make spaghetti lines op for some reason
Yeah I'm sure it's down to the stupid game mechanics, but still, the aesthetics of it just ruin the whole battle vibe. Can't see the great generals of antiquity forming their men up in lines thinner than supermodels and expecting to get away with it.
Poor mechanics in Rome II led to it being optimal. Looks horrendous, and it's sad that you essentially had to do it to play optimally.
Wish you showed a little more historical Total War rather than 99%, to me, silly fantasy war hammer.
The lines are not a problem. Spread out units arnt either. Both are due to poor micro management. Both these are results of not forming your men up properly. Getting them to form up and stand together then clicking on a unit to attack.
How do I send one to you?
How can we submit replays?
Hi guys, are the servers good these days ?

Stier _ warhammer is fantasy its supposed to be flashy

Mods are a lifesaver, so to speak, in this case
"Pajama clad Galatians"
hahahahahahhaha
Rome 2 is unplayable without the Divide et Impera mod if you ask me.
Attila was really poor in my opinion not enough of a time difference between it and Rome 2, it could have been a dlc. I'm hyped for the next historical game
great game if there were no spaghetti lines
Heir, you didn't write the code for this game? WHAT OTHER LIES IS MY LIFE BASED UPON?!?
I love you monstro
Ti amo professore Lawrence!
Zefer You used cheat codes
Hey whats with the really low quality man?
must be a RUclips noob...wait 10 mins.
seriously thou, just one more last patch to get rid of this horrendous spaghetti line and the game is great, Hell it will even make pike viable and dangerous. And it isn't even hard to code.
Keep talking about warhammer ignore the haters
I never understood why total war rome players always deployed their units so wide?
its not only in rome 2.In shogun ppl deploy wide,in medieval 2 ppl deploy wide,in atilla,in gunpowder games, but for some reason ppl get mad about thin formations only in rome 2.

I agree with your disagreement.
Yay something other than Warhammer
I hate these stupid spaghetti lines
rome 2 total war is still better than warhammer and attila.
Can't wait till Warhammer dies...I miss real historical gaming.

Ya..that sucks. Looks like I'll stick with non Total War gaming then..lol.
VL123 Yeah I'm tired of Warhammer
I thought so too, but after giving Warhammer a real honest try, I'm finding I quite enjoy it.
I really wish he would stop talking about warhammer. Not everyone likes it everytime I click on one of his videos he talks about warhammer more then the actual game he is playing :(
Joshua Wilson stop crying
Speedo Dude413 I'm not just saying my opinion
It's Total War. It's perfectly natural to talk about another game in the franchise that you are playing. Especially when both games are still actively supported by Creative Assembly.
John Schaeffer I was just saying my opinion
So am I. It doesn't invalidate yours.
