Yeetus Deletus I know, it hurts. It fucking hurts. I wish RJ just directed the whole thing because he clearly had better ideas than JJ, whose ideas were “copy” and “fanfic blende”
TFA played it too safe, then in reaction TLJ played it too differently, then once again in reaction TROS played it too safe AND tried to give, like, every corner of the fandom something they wanted, like Rose-haters get her out, Reylo shippers get the kiss, Finn fans get fucking nothing, which is all levels of terrible decision making... I don't know if it's just me but I FEEL the tug of war between the creative visions while watching the triology, and it's honestly so disappointing.
13:00 Id like to point out parking illegally was a joke in SPACE BALLS. Yes Rian Johnson intentionally or not took a joke from a STAR WARS PAORDY and turned it into a serious plot point
I'm pretty sure it was intentional. There is also the scene with the clothes iron that looks like a spaceship. This is a reference to one of the earliest Star Wars parodies, the 1978 short film Hardware Wars. Rian is a true nerd. I know it's not for everyone but omg I love this movie and I'll defend it til' I die.
Kye Dysarthria yeah it makes your characters appear to be idiots. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy but Mr Plinket makes a good point comparing Finn and Rose’s journey to the Grizzwalds
Kind of funny how he initially said that he won't talk much about this movie anymore and he would revisit Infinity War, just to end up doing the opposite.
Ironically, there is only a finite amount of things one can say, about Infinity War, where as the Last Jedi will never have a *last* thing said about it.
Fun fact: Luke dying was not scripted. Mark Hamill actually created a Force hologram and became one with the living Force, and Rian Johnson thought it was incredible and kept it in the movie.
That Finn sacrifice was the main thing that pissed me off, I was so stressed during that scene when I saw it the first time because I thought they genuinely had the balls to kill a main character in the second movie
Viper 6172 if he made the "sacrifice" it would have been pointless because he was about to run into a GIANT METAL LASER CANNON so he would have died having done almost nothing to help
Brendan Fitzpatrick imagine if rose was the spy and she learns that the resistance isn’t a complete evil force and at very last moment she saves finn from plasma and have her have a more serious attitude
What do you mean it's the only Star Wars movie to drop its name in the movie itself? Don't you remember when Luke gets his hand cut off by Darth Vader, he turns to face the camera, shrugs and goes "I guess the Empire Strikes Back!"
Qui Gon and Obi Wan confronts darth maul on Naboo. Obi wan says “Master, who is that?” Then qui gon says “My young padawan, you don’t recognize him, he’s THE PHANTOM MENACE.”
@@Yuni-is-Schrodingers-Fox Nah, there's no iconic sound effect to it, its too subtle sound wise like a voice chat. Besides, MauLer is cringe now, he has fallen into the crowd of creators obsessed with media being too "woke"
sexualization of the characters is not a new thing in star wars. do you remember leia as a slave in return of the jedi? or the main protagonists of any mcu movie taking their shirt off for no reason? thats the industry buddy :( but I gotta say: of all the ones that I mentioned before, the kylo one is the better cause it gives the character more humanity! there is a purpose for him to be without clothes, don't you guys think so?
He's, no joke, one of my favorite Star Wars movie villains if you don't count the endless sea of additional content. 1. Vader (obviously) 2. Krennic 3. This droid that appeared less than ten minutes In the movies Maul is boring, Dooku is wasted, Grievous is nothing but spectacle, and good ol palps was ruined by the goofy action scenes in the prequels as well as his return in TROS. Oh and there's the disposable Solo villain who's name I can't remember. I like it because a tiny insignificant droid could massacre an entire resistance, that f*cking scares me.
So I know this is like a year later, but according to Dave Filoni, the Darth Maul fight is actually one of the most important fights in the saga. Originally, this may not have held much weight, but it becomes clear later that Qui-Gon is one of the only Jedi who is beginning to realize the flaws of the order, and thus, feels he needs to train Anakin because he is the chosen one. Obi-Wan, though a wise Jedi, holds to the ways of the order unlike his master. Anakin's many questions of the council and the Jedi order lead him to the dark side, where if Qui-Gon was his master, his questions could have been justified and he may have remained on the light. This is why the Darth Maul fight is called the "Duel of the Fates."
@@nyyae yeah, but at least the fight scenes were dope to my child brain when I watched them at the time, and Revenge of the Sith is still a pretty good movie, of course the best, of the trilogy, but Darth Maul and his ship still get the #1 new bad guy characters of the Prequels right beside Count Dooku and Jango Fett.
"Save what we love and not fight what we hate" would've been a good arc for Finn if they gave him something about liberating the Stormtroopers and giving him a seething hatred for the first order.
@@sylph8005 it really was. They could have used it to have Finn be this anti war pacifist, who only fights stormtroopers when he has to, since despite everything, he still considers them brothers. But nope, he just became a bigger and bigger simp for Rey

@@SoldierMan1557 honestly yeah, but i guess we needed that terrible casino scene drag the entire movie through the dirt instead of one scene that gave a villain of this series actual character.
I’d say the Empire was more dignified in Rebels. Remember how towards the end of season 1 Tarkin executed the comic relief imperials and made a warning to remaining ones?
Kyle Campbell have you even watched rebels? The empire are usually fools. Almost never gain a victory, generally incompetent, always ramble on about fear and how it will control people while merely killing their own commanders and lieutenants, and the inquisitors are weak as hell. The only threat on the show was Vader and at times thrawn, even though he constantly got screwed over by plot armor. Overall the show didn’t make the empire look very intimidating most of the time, even under Vader’s and thrawn rule.
If they would’ve kept the Rey’s parents are nobody she just happens to be force sensitive, I think the Rey Skywalker moment would’ve had more impact and a better message of you’re not tied to your bloodline.
They should’ve just combined Rey and Finns story, have a stormtrooper who defects from the first orders whose sole mission is to find the family they lost when they were kidnapped, only to find out their parents sold them off to the first order for cash or something
We never needed another kid from a desert planet to become a Jedi, would’ve been cool to have a force sensitive, stormtrooper defect be the main character
I agree that the scene where R2 plays “you’re my only hope” Leia hologram was brilliant. Nostalgia that actually means something to not just the story but to the characters as well.
...And it was destroyed when like said "That was a cheap move." Like almost everything in this movie it finds a way to get destroyed and that's what makes me dislike it.
Still, Rogue one felt really weak, I remember watching it in theatres expecting some sort of clever profound mind - blowing explanation as to why the film was named Rogue 1, and it just turns out it was a signal they used to fool the rebel base, it just feels so unessecary and boring a reason, unlike the Last jedi
Agreed! Just like obiwan, or mace windu, or Kit fisto. All random people without families from random planets. Rian must have missed that in the prequels.
I would say yes, and you know let me just say, before I saw this comment I thought "AHSOKA DIDN'T GET ADDED BUT A FRICKIN' SOCCER BALL DID!?!?" But now that I put together BB9E single-handedly ruined the Resistances planes, and then got added to a popular video game, I can now say it's well deserved
Honestly the best thing about the Last Jedi is that it largely did away with that weird "bloodlines are sacred" idea that's way too prevalent in a lot of fiction. Shame they re-introduced it.
Fans who would get upset about Rey being a nobody yet has such strong force powers, seem to forget that Anakin was a literal slave's child on a backwater(less) desert planet. He was born less than a nobody yet he was still the Chosen One. Dynasties have to start somewhere and usually its not in places you'd expect them to pop up.
I feel like Luke's failure of character when he tries to kill Ben might be made a little more believable if maybe they had shown or told us how precarious the peace created after destruction of the Empire and how it came at a very high personal cost, so that Luke's paranoia about any little thing potentially destroying everything he worked so hard to make would push him to actually consider killing his nephew.
I say that the hermit idea can work but not with anything related to killing Ben. I think it should be Luke doing a mission and coming back to see all that happened, which is an idea i see thrown around a bit.
I'm sorry but I can't believe luke would ever do this. This is the guy that wouldn't even kill the wampa who tried to eat him. This is the guy that saw good in the second most evil man in the galaxy. I can't believe that luke would kill the only child of his best friend and twin sister just because he saw a little dark side energy that he could just talk him through.
@@poppapalpatine8624 did you forget he chopped off Vader’s hand? He does see good at him but don’t make it sound like he just talked it out. And like thinking about Ben was a fleeting thought.

Patrick Heneghan I think last Jedi has great ideas poor execution, but people seem to hate the ideas. But this is all I want, I want people to not hate each other for their preferences.
So I just wanted to say something, the Throne room fight. It was because Kylo killed Snoke. They witnessed Kylo committing essentially treason, so obviously they had to die. Rey was fighting because she thought Kylo was returning to the light due to his murder of Snoke.
I think Kanto Byte could've been so amazing thematically if Po had gone with Finn. Po is a hotshot pilot who loves fighting the fight and doesn't take into consideration the despair that comes with war. Finn on the other hand is a child soldier who abandoned his army because of the atrocities they were committing and through FA chose to join the resistance and fight the first order. We could have had Po realise how much pain and destruction the war really causes through Finn. And how much of a gutpunch would it have been for both of them to find out both sides are supplied by the same people! Also they should have made the kid skaves more impactful considering, again, FINN WAS A CHILD SOLDIER. The parallels they could've drawn would have been so good if they didn't throw Finn's background to the wayside!
@@i.j.dragonfly3123 But then what would Rose do then? I mean maybe they could have it be three of them and get rid of the whole mutiny plot. Or like Schafrillas suggested have them try to find the mole, which could end up being a small Droid or something that the First Order bugged their ship with.
@@JMandJJ7797 Some people have raised the idea of Rose being another deserted stormtrooper, who decides to help Finn after losing her sister(-in-arms) in a pointless battle. Or maybe she could have been an expert technician who helps Finn and Poe leave the ship and covers for them. I'm not sure what Rian Johnson's original draft would have looked like. Honestly, given that TRoS demoted Rose to a glorified extra, she could have been cut entirely... but I think that would be a tragic waste. Kelly Marie Tran is a wonderful actress who was handed a terrible script, and I'd like to see what she would have done with a different story.
Yeah, seriously if you attack actors for playing a character that you didn't like, please never watch a movie again. And Kelly Marie Tran did receive a TON of backlash, yes. And that's awful, but I feel a million times worse for Jake Lloyd. That poor guy was just a 10 year old kid who was so excited about playing Anakin. Watching those interviews of how excited he was breaks my heart with how awful the backlash and bullying was towards him.
First off sorry Jake Lloyd. Second, yes he was terrible made worse by equally terrible dialogue, but do personal attacks against him accomplish anything? These movies are for kids! Fat, neckbearded nerds love them. But in all honesty they are just commercials for the toys/video games/comics/Disneyland rides. If you aren't the target audience then take a step back and analyze what you're criticizing.
When this movie first came out, I was firmly in the "this is amazing this is the best SW movie ever" camp, and i think my own personal "character arc" over the past several years has been learning to be reasonable and acknowledge all the things that are wrong with this film. Like, I think when I first watched it I was just completely starstruck with the cinematography and direction, and didn't want to admit that there are some very major flaws. I just wish either JJ or Ryan could have directed the entire trilogy instead of splitting it between two directors.
I think Star Wars is the kind of franchise that's very "in the moment" but doesn't last quite as well in years following. I also revisited this a few years later and just thought it was decent, but I can't deny the initial hype ride I was on in the first couple of watches
If JJ directed it, he would've turned the whole series into a butt ton of setups but with almost none to no resolution. That's why I think Rian should do it: his work on Knives Out was great, so three Star Wars movies may not be a problem Edit: Speaking of which, recent news said that Rian was in fact going to have a trilogy to himself but it got cancelled :(
I had the opposite character arc, I thought the movie was shit. But I think I've learnt to see the bad AND GOOD of the film, like the whole Canto Bight thing was BS but the final scene with Luke trolling the fuck out of Kylo is genius or that the Luke being a prick kinda sucks, but the cinematography slaps so hard. In reality it isn't a really good or a really bad movie, I think the highs are really high and the lows are abysmally low.
because in episode 7 JJ set up a big deal about her being connected to someone then Rian through that out (which honestly I prefer) and then because JJ set up one of his mystery boxes a lot of people were disappointed it was dropped and so they changed it and made things so much worse. it makes me really wonder why the hell this trilogy wasn't planned and why they would allow Rian to throw everything out the window TLJ on its own has some really interesting idea but as a sequel to a movie that set up big deals for all those things it's really weird and dumb
Yeah when everyone was theorizing after Episode 7 I was very vocal about how much I didn't care. I didn't want her parentage to matter, and I LOVED when Last Jedi told us it didn't. Unfortunately fans are whiny and JJ and Disney are too concerned with crowd-pleasing to keep any interesting artistic choice from Last Jedi sooooo here we are.
Luke not going down to the planet actually kinda makes sense if you consider Kylo wanted to kill him. Him not going basically takes the satisfaction of killing Luke away from him, getting even more of a rise from Kylo.
It's the perfect way to humiliate Kylo Ren and show him directly how blind and reckless he is, that he was so caught up in proving he was correct that he didn't realize Luke wasn't even physically there. It's so good.
Except he not only dies anyway but he doesn’t pick up his balls and fucking face up to his own wrong doing Luke should have attempted to apologize to Ben and attempt to explain himself The fact that he says “No” when asked if he came to save Bens souls was just the worst This is a regression for the character at best
@KRobinson-ko1ne he says no when kylo mockingly asks if he's there to save his soul bc Luke knows he cannot be the one to redeem Kylo just like how Obi-Wan could never be the one to make Vader change. Also he was there to save the Resistance and make Kylo feel as unbalanced as possible so he'd make rash decisions so mocking Kylo certainly worked.
Okay… So Luke can redeem Darth Vader of all people but not a student that he actually considered killing momentarily? No offense but this argument of yours doesn’t hold water. If Luke led Ben to believe he was plotting to kill him while he was already immersed in the force iteself then Luke is without debate at fault for corrupting him. Luke is more than responsible for Ben and saying “no” like so just shows regression at best. I’d honestly argue that this is misrepresentation and given the themes that Rian seems to be gunning for I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in filming he intended to misrepresent him I mean it’s kind of obvious that Rian tried many different ideas on set only to run out of time and money and being forced to use what footage he has

@@andreiefectivuatafac1966 TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if they saw the flood of people (understandably) shipping them, thought “Oh fuck” and immediately resolved to do everything in their power to kill all potential chemistry.
That is the most idiotic reasoning I have ever heard. “Wow, two characters have great chemistry and have boundless potential to learn from each other and develop as characters as a result. Fucking lame, let’s separate them so one can learn a lesson about blindly trusting authority and the other can learn to not fight for those he loves.”
Righ?! It's magic to have two actors display that much organic chemistry with one another. Johnson could have explored the dynamics of their friendship, teamwork- they could have offered a bit of buddy comedy road trip energy transporting together through space, helping different facets of the Resistance along the way.. That way, when one of them actually do get killed off (I'd probably save til the last movie) the audience would have such an emotional connection to the characters by that point.
Their subplots should have focused on what the first order is and why we’re here and Leia should have been ever present The world building is not only terrible, it’s non existent. Cantobite feels like a whole separate universe: how long have these war profiteers been thriving and how is their currency valid?! Has the first order always had control of this and other neighboring planets? Did the republic allow slavery to happen?
@@shannonceleste5557This is why I say that we need a show focused on the sequels like they did with the Clone Wars. It could help flesh out the characters more.
I never realized how tone deaf the explosion behind Finn and Rose's kiss was That explosion could have signaled the death of so many resistance member and they couldn't have known whether all of their friends survived
It was just such an odd moment. One or both of them should have been dead by that point. "We win by...saving what we love" is such a weird, try-too-hard line. And while John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran have decent chemistry, their interactions were so badly written that I wasn't even sure that Rose liked Finn until she kissed him. The explosion in the background just compounds how dumb it is. I wonder if this was one of the weird callbacks/"rules" that some fans are so obsessed with. In _The Empire Strikes Back,_ there was the epically entertaining relationship between Han and Leia. In _Attack of the Clones,_ there was the epically cringey relationship between Anakin and Padme. So maybe Disney demanded some overt romance in the second film of *this* trilogy, and Rian panicked and threw that silly moment in there. What makes it even weirder is that there was already a perfect opportunity for a romantic moment. Kylo and Rey had amazing chemistry. He clearly forgave her for scarring his face, and she trusted him enough to meet him alone in hostile territory. THEY HELD HANDS. If *they* had kissed after taking out all the Praetorian Guards, *that* would have fulfilled the romantic moments quota, made at least some sense, and been emotionally charged. Me and all my friends would have swooned 😂
@@polyhymnia701 This to the millionth degree. I would've loved to see a regular-ish perspective like Rose, but her writing was so far-fetched it made her the least relatable character in the entire series. Even JAR JAR is more relatable than she is. TLJ is as much a clusterfuck a movie as TROS is, it just doesn't rush as much.
The part involving Rose's actress was a big mood, hope this doesn't follow her in any future film. A damn shame this had to happen in her first role, or that it happened at all.
Let's just all agree that hardcore fans of anything can be the worst pieces of shit on the internet. EVEN IF you want to blame the actors, the writers, the directors, NOTHING justifies death threats and unending harassment. You lost the argument the moment you used such methods.

Just to remind people the Mary Sue archetype is conservative by placing a specific woman better than other women as a token, basic "Not Like Other Girls" misogyny. So Episode 9, not so progressive.
I think Rose could’ve been redeemed by making her the spy. Then it makes sense for her to take Finn on this wild goose chase to Canto Byte, find the wrong code breaker who will turn them in and even knock Finn’s ship from hitting that laser when he tries to sacrifice himself. She’s ‘saving him’ but really she’s just trying to help the first order. Her sister could be a spy as well, maybe one who ended up defecting after spending time with the resistance since she bombs a Star Destroyer. After her sister dies, Rose is angry at the resistance for turning and killing her sister and All of Rose’s speeches about rebellion and her line about saving what you love are actually what her sister said to her when she was still alive, but now she’s using those resistance ideals to make finn and co trust her. And it works on the characters but the audience is put off by her and knows something’s up. Then in ROS Hux doesnt have to be the rebel spy, Rose is the First Order spy. She could even be working for Hux and lead him to where the rebels are so he can suprise attack them while taking all the credit and making Kylo look bad.
Seriously. Even a kid's movie called "Frozen" pulled this off perfectly. It's one of rare cases of GOOD subversions of expectations that this movie could have had.
i think the biggest problem of the trilogy is just the lack of a consistent creative vision. its clear jj had a vision for the trilogy that rian didn't share, and instead of working with the direction tlj had set the series in he tried to retcon it. i genuinely loved that rey's parents were nobodies and going back on that while somehow resurrecting palpatine just felt cheap. same with completely writing rose out. i wish they'd just had one person direct all three (or at least plot out the major stuff beforehand) and it would've felt like a coherent trilogy. as it stands, each film is actively trying to retcon the one that came before it and it's just not fun to watch at all.
I honestly don’t see TLJ as retconning TFA. It takes the start, which is a pretty standard adventure clone of ANH, and builds it into something new and nonstandard. It’s ROS that goes full retcon on everything, because the so many people complained that TLJ wasn’t standard.
@@Onychoprion27personally, I agree with you. I am a big Star Wars fan and I like literally everything that I saw/read/played as of this moment, EXCEPT episode 9. That was incredibly lazely written. The cancelled version, Duel of the Fates, with some changes and revisions would be a much better final film in the Skywalker saga than TROS.
"Backtracking on this reveal is the single worst mistake TROS ever made" YES. I've been a SW fan my whole life but I found myself getting so bored with the repeating tropes...I absolutely loved her parents being no one, and I thought it introduced a tragic and relatable situation into a franchise that often gets lost in CGI pyrotechnics.
Alright, before this comments section gets explosive, I would like to agree wholeheartedly. I mean, Star Wars is outstanding, and the last thing I would want( and I’m sure I can say this about at least some of the fans) would be a repetitive story simply because newer screenwriters aren’t confident enough to do something new.
Tbh I’m mixed on it. We finally get to know why she’s so powerful and it’s kind of satisfying but it’s a repeated trope in SW we’ve seen too many times. It kind of made me appreciate Rey nobody even more but TLJ didn’t seem to care Rey found out her parents are nobody even though that was her life goal to find out who her parents were. I like to tell myself that Kylo was at a vulnerable position after killing his Dad, but I agree that it’s no excuse for such a mistake.
(I know comment is a year old) I wholeheartedly agree; I was one of the people who was expecting her to be a Skywalker, or a Kenobi, or a Katarn, etc, but when I first watched TLJ, the decision annoyed me to make her a nobody. As time went on (and then we got the dumpster fire of TROS) I liked the idea a lot more and more, showing that anyone in the SW universe can be important or can make an impact, and that not everything in the story has to be about the Skywalkers (and their buddies)
I'm more concerned about the like/dislike ratio. Even saying one or two positive things about TLJ would make this video *"perfectly balanced"* with the ratio
Ryan Johnson made the point: The Darth Vader reveal works because it's the worst thing Luke can hear at the time. Rey thinks she's descended for greatness, but she came from nothing, the worst thing she could hear at the time.
What are you talking about? Ray never through her parents were some super important people in the galaxy, that was all a fan discussion. Bringing that meta plot point in the movie was nonsensical and just shows how much of a hack Ruin is
@madtitanthanos7898 she didn't want her parents to be ANYTHING, she just wanted them to be there. The plot point about rey and her parents is concluded in TFA. Rey no longer cares about her parents and instead is finding belonging with new people, like finn, han, leia, and luke. Then ryan resurrected the plot line so he could subvert expectstions despite that not being in line with rey's characterm
He sneaks into the Falcon to be alone, even looking down at the Golden dice with what I thought to be regret, another addition to his failure because he made the man that killed Han. It’s not as long as it could’ve been, I suppose, but it’s there and I was happy enough with it, especially when he brings the dice to Leia later.
My problem with Rose mourning her sister, is, it doesn't matter in context of the movie. It doesn't help Rose as character. She doesn't show beyond sadness, any other emotion. Like five stages of grief, but it's only sadness, and then melancolia. Rose doesn't show anger, or denial or acceptance for her sister.

I would prefer it if Rose and Finn made a close bond at Canto and have more scenes of them getting to know about each other, something akin to Han and Leia in ESB, and not learning about the horrors of war opportunists and what not. Then her saving Finn would at least feel impactful even if he's doing it for the greater good, because she's a human as well and can have emotions that contradicts logic. She just lost her sister, and she doesn't want to lose another, I think this is what Rian was going for but Canto is so distracting that it doesn't feel impactful. Luigi Nastro I’m done with the movies, like wait 30 years then you can give us the next trilogy, at least then I will have become a force ghost and roam the galaxy looking for better planets
Tanner Bruning I think he’s interesting, but most of that is the actor Giancarlo Esposito who knows how to shape a character well, plus you didn’t see him through the whole series and they have more room to build him up for the future if they use their setup properly
I think the best way to summarise the three trilogies, is: The OT was a series with a strong vision, and a strong sense of collaborative talent, Lucas set the stage, and directors (Marquand, Kershner) screenwriters (Lawrence Kasdan) editors (Marcia Lucas, ) sound designers (Ben Burtt) etc were all given the room to maneuver to bring their talent to its greatest effect. the PT was a series with a strong vision, but a very weak sense of collaboration of talent. Lucas set a potentially strong plotline in motion, but without stronger directors like Kershner, or stronger screenwriters like Kasdan, and with Lucas in complete control, NO-ONE's talent really flourished to full effect. The ST was a series with a very strong collaboration of talent, from potent directors like Johnson, to good editors, actors, cinematographers etc. they were all given the freedom to work to their best... however... there was no sense of vision, no overarching idea, subsequently they're putting their strongest work into a flawed final blueprint. the OT is a solid house built out of wood. the PT is a sizeable mansion built out of mud. and the ST is a small shack built out of bricks.
But the Original trilogy didn’t have a vision, A New Hope was supposed to be the only Star Wars movie but Lucasfilm changed their mind when they saw how much money it made, then there was a vision for Empire and Jedi.
@@ryanbollinger1759 the studio didn't have a plan for it, but George did (to a certain extent at least). probably just hypotheticals he was spinning around, but once it came time to make a sequel, he had laid the tracks for plenty of his hypotheticals to follow on, e.g. Evil Empire needs an Emperor, Vader survived, Luke has much more to learn etc. he definitely had the core laid out, just not the smaller bits and pieces (e.g. Leia and Luke's relationship)

Why do so many people consider death a fitting end to a character's arc? I hear that so much. That's a lazy end to an arc. "Well I don't know what else to do this with this character, fuck it kill em."
@agkl Idk I'm just tired of constantly hearing "this character should've died it would've been so fitting" or "the character should've died this other way it'd be so fitting" I honestly don't think death is all that great a way to end an arc. Feels pointless. Any way that character grew, any relationships they formed, any new directions they wanted to take in life is just rendered pointless. Especially would've been pointless in TLJ since the resistance would've made it out just the same regardless of Finn's death.
@agkl Gave some thought to this, I'm a writer and I realized I approach the deaths of characters in a different way than other writers. To me a character dying is meaningless. That's the point. Every time a character has died in the book I'm writing it was purposely pointless. No grand sacrifices, no going out with a bang, no noble deaths. Just usually bad luck, a stray bullet, a bad fall. Like in real life. And that's not to say I don't kill off important named characters, I do. But in my mind a character dying shouldn't be glorified in any way. Death is horrible. And usually pointless. Might mean I'll never be a great writer but that's just my prospective on the matter. If I'm writing a character going through an arc and I killed them off, it would never be the fitting end of the arc. It'd be that the arc was cut short before they could reach the end of it, (which I have done in my book with certain characters)if that makes any sense.
I like ur perspective of not glorifying death and how its often just bad luck, but i think death should be meaningful, it should have a point, not just an end to someones arc, but leave an impact on others. Anyway, i enjoyed reading ur thoughts.
I have to take the last jedi apart in my mind and make it into two movies. one the movie about rey and luke and kylo, which was an awesome movie, and one the movie about EVERY OTHER CHARACTER, which was the most disorganized nonsense I've ever seen in cinema.
It can't have been more disorganized or nonsensical than the first Suicide Squad movie. Which I did see in the theater, and walked out with my family basically all thinking "What in the world did we just watch?"
I love Team Rocket, but I can see why some might dislike them. Sometimes they just add pointless tension and can really stagnate the plot (especially in the 1st season, which I also really like).
The first order deserter, aside from her origin, was literally just a more confident Rose. She only exists because they wanted to write rose out of the movie.
She also exists to rob Finn of anything he ever achieved. All they needed was to have her say something like 'we've all heard of you, you inspired us to stand up, to, well, rebel' instead of 'we're basically better than you. Why are you here?'
@@Sinewmire Both Rose & Jannah exist just so Finn can get another female companion. Disney trying really hard to squash any gay vibes between Finn & Poe. They either gotta separate them or have a girl in there. Can't be Rey because she's too busy with her own story arc most the time. Once Rey was out of the picture, they needed a girl to take her spot. TLJ was Rose, the unlucky character tied to the worst subplot of this trilogy, & the last quarter or so of ROS was Jannah, the literal copy, paste & genderbent version of Finn.
This movie is much worse than he presents it in this video. In fact, a lot of his arguments are poor and unsubstantiated. He just asserts things, maybe says a few buzzwords like 'character dynamics' or 'themes' and moves on.at 2/3 of the way in the video, he has not made one cogent argument for the movie being good, just how he liked it.
Alexander Marier let’s be fair here, episode 9 was way worse than TLJ, yes, the past jedi is not perfect, but JJ Abrams had the chance to make a better movie but opted to make it nostalgic and ruin all the canonity of the previous ones. Although that is my opinion, if you prefer Episode 9 than 8, and you think episode 8 is bad, it is ok. I shouldn’t be offended by somebody’s opinion of a movie and as long as everybody respects other’s opinion it is ok :)
@@__Man_ Yeah but she was an incompetent leader that put everyone's life in danger and she deserved to be relieved of duty. I tend to agree. I really wished that they’d just let Kylo develop as an antagonist rather than needing some “greater evil” pulling the strings. I really liked Rey being no one though. Kinda made her more relatable
@@brettdallman3885 Debateable. I love the idea of Kylo being the main villain, but consider this; he's the last Skywalker. Worse, he's the direct descendant of the OT trio. It would've been insanely disrespectful to them to have their last direct descendant end as the final villain (if there was another Skywalker, like, maybe, a certain scavenger from Jakku, then it would be a different story). Not to mention, this Trilogy is supposed to tie into the others to create a cohesive 9-movie storyline. Having some new villain out of nowhere who wasn't connected to the previous wouldn't have been satisfying. Snoke could have been Darth Plagueis, revealing himself to be the mastermind behind everything, but that wouldn't work after he was made into a joke in TLJ. I'm not saying that bringing back Palpatine was good, but it was probably the least bad. The apprentice taking over for the master is a great idea, but wrong trilogy.
The Duel with Maul wasn't pointless and it definitely had emotional investment since Qui Gon was clearly set up to be a father figure and he gets killed Setting Anakin's fate in stone.
@@loganwendigo937 Not me lol. He didn't have much of a personality or any defining traits. We also don't know anything about his backstory. I'm of the opinion that Liam Neeson is a petty good actor, but he just didn't really fit the character.

I low key love that Luke creates a vision of the blue skywalker family lightsaber, rather than his own green one. It work really well thematically and lines up perfectly with what Luke would do. I feel like he'd want to go out holding his fathers lightsaber. Just a random detail that I really love.
This is how I feel about this movie almost exactly Some aspects I found boring while others I really enjoyed Although tbh it's probably my least favorite Star Wars movie

Jack Bennett yeah I read that the suit actor felt like crying when he heard that. While his voice actor felt the “Student surpasses the master” theme was bad given he CGI has replaced practical effects
Andy Zhao no character? Remeber in Return of the Jedi when the A-wing Pilot sacrifices himself to take down the excecutioner? Everybody on the Rebel frigate is celebrating.... except Ackbar who just slumps back in his chair and quietly mourns all the lives lost. That says a lot about his character without any dialogue
I think the Praetorian Guard fight scene was so well received despite the overall bad choreography because of Kylo Ren's brutal fighting style. The way he angrily cuts down the guards is a hint that he has not actually come to the light side, rather is continuing the cycle of Sith apprentices killing their master in search of power.
I don't think that scene says that at all, its more like seeing the combination of a light and dark side fight. Both side have different styles who are at odds, yet now we see two who have broken the mold and fought together
@Schwifty Mcgwifty If you look closely, you'll notice some of the guards just standing there waiting while Rey and Kylo fight the other ones, then when Rey and Kylo are already blocking, they attack
@Schwifty Mcgwifty May I suggest you to watch Shadiversity's video analysis on that scene? He analyzes the whole thing frame by frame, move by move, and you can see the blatant mistakes and overall terrible choreography, whom the actors clearly didn't get enough time to work on and Rian insisted to do in almost one take. The scene is cool and flashy at first glance, but the more you look at it, the more you see how bad it is.
@Schwifty Mcgwifty rey fought a guard that could've stabbed her but his weapon disappeard, when rey was about to be killed she tried to let go of her lightsaber to hit the guard but as soon as she let go, the guard could've killed her with the blade, some guards were going away from the battle and rey kicks 3 guards with one kick, there's still some but I forgot it
Love it or hate it, I'd say Last Jedi is the most visually interesting and is the most unique of the sequels in terms of story, unlike what preceded and followed it didn't rely on gimmicks like Death Star III or Sheev is back
@@mcolottiboy Well, I consider the throne room sequence to be pretty original. In that, they made it clear that Snoke wasn't meant to be a ripoff of Palpatine and that Kylo Ren isn't a ripoff of Darth Vader. Luke's story arc with struggling against his inner darkness after he contemplated killing his nephew was also a solid attempt to go in a new direction. Although The Last Jedi obviously has its flaws, it also has its significant high points.
The idea of Rose replacing Finn after he sacrifices himself is honestly a wonderful idea. Removes the terrible 'save what you love' line and opens up some options in ROS. Imagine them meeting the rebel stormtroopers and her learning where they came from, that other stormtroopers can be capable of turning sides, and using this knowledge to start a stormtrooper uprising in the climax. So many wasted opportunities
Imagine if they met up with Jannah and her other Stormtrooper rebels. Who turned against the first order cause they had all heard Finns story and sacrifice for the resistance
i don't understand hate for that line. winning one battle doesn't mean anything. winning war is what matters. imagine hundred bad guys are after you and your kid with nowhere else to go. would you kill yourself to kill ten bad guys and leave your kid defenseless or would you keep yourself alive to fight another day? cannon wouldn't get destroyed as finn's ship was dismantling and melting. even if it was, it most probably wouldn't save them without rey's rescue at the end. they are stuck there without any outside help. first order would just bring another weapon.
AndHelloAgain The problem is the way the line is delivered and the context of it. If Finn sacrificed to destroy the ram, the resistance would’ve gotten more time. That was the whole point of it, to make time. Rose was basically fucking everyone up, because if Luke hadn’t appeared, everyone would’ve died remember rose zapping Finn when he attempted to leave? What rose did in the battle is what Finn was doing in the other scene, putting personal gain above the collective good.
the character was okay, Rose had enough potential to have a better character development than a lot of Star Wars characters, but its execution wasn’t well.
I like what this film tried to be, tried to at least have themes and a point, to deviate from the norm somewhat and possibly have a message. But everything about the context made it ring a bit hollow. I liked the Luke and Rey bits more than the rest and would actually have traded in the Canto Byte scenes for more of their character interactions. Like the idea that Luke has been as dismayed by the reimergence of the dark side after he worked so hard to vanquish it as the fans were is an interesting idea and to have someone a lot like he used to be restore his faith in, the light side I guess, is interesting.
The sequel trilogy has disappointed me so much because it clearly didn't have a plan. The force awakens opened up the possibility of interesting stories. People like the Knights of Ren and Captain Phasma were completely wasted and my opinions on episodes 7, 8 and 9 are just movies to me. Not good just disappointing and full of wasted potential.
At least George had a general outline in mind when creating the stories for both the Original and Prequel Trilogies, probably more so with the Prequel Trilogy, to where he wanted things to go. It’s just apparent that Disney had no idea what they wanted to do with this Sequel Trilogy and the franchise in general, and they really should of had an amazing visionary like George Lucas to plan things out behind the scenes.
well honestly even though the sequel trilogy has split the Star Wars Fanbase with half of them making all kinds of ridiculous assumptions about both Disney and the directors without any proof whatsoever, I actually like The Force Awakens for many good reasons. Because to me, TFA didn’t entirely work as a sequel, but rather as a visually interesting standalone Star Wars film on its own, I felt like TFA didn’t entirely deserve a sequel, but then again it was the start of a mixed bag trilogy. TFA’s Story was well paced and knew exactly when to introduce a character old or new, and above that, the settings and soundtrack were phenomenal as well. Rise of Skywalker on the other hand is a different story, sure it was directed by JJ Abrams (the same guy who directed TFA), but it didn’t entirely have the same visually interesting stuff TFA had, I mean I did love Palpatine’s return and it the reasons for his return did answer a lot of unanswered questions in TFA. I didn’t entirely mind the aspect of Rey being the granddaughter of Palpatine, but changing her last name to Skywalker for an unknown reason was a tiny bit uncalled for. My favorite parts in ROS was 1. When the force ghost of Luke spoke to Rey (I even liked his line “A Jedi’s Weapon deserves a little more respect!” 2. All the Jedi voices speaking to Rey (it was an awesome combination between some of the actual actors from past movies and voice actors from Clone Wars and Rebels) and best of all 3. Han Solo speaking to Ben, which is to me the most heartwarming scene in the movie because Han didn’t appear as a force ghost, but rather as a memory which works perfectly despite how rushed Ben’s redemption might’ve been
Even after this new trilogy, I still don't like the prequels all that much, but at least there was a consistent outline on where that trilogy would go.
PrimeBandet I would’ve been fine if the sequels were made by either just ryan or jj, ROS is ok for what jj had, i feel like a lot of the reasons why it was bad was because of TLJ and Disney, i personally don’t like TLJ but that’s because of the major problems with luke’s arc, it doesn’t feel like Luke, if during the fight with Kylo Luke was pleading with him to come back to the light it would’ve been much better imo, instead of just telling Kylo he’s lost then disappearing, that is not something Luke would do. I also don’t like Holdo at all, i would’ve preferred Ackbar to survive and do the lightspeed ram but that’s just me, ROS has a lot of stupid stuff as well, like the force heal and the palpatine stuff, i would’ve preferred for Rey to be anakin reincarnated, which would make sense with TLJ cause Anakin is a direct manifestation of the force to bring balance, and Rey should’ve died so then there isn’t any plot holes, Ben should’ve lived so he could continue the skywalker name, i’m fine with Palpatine coming back but if they didn’t do the Anakin reincarnated plot they should keep the jedi ghosts scene including them being there physically. I would continue but i’m lazy. TLDR Force Awakens was good TLJ was bad with good elements ROS could’ve been better but was ok
This is the best TLJ review, you’re the one of the only person who is able to judge it fairly with an open mind, with other examples being IHE and cosmonaut who can see the good and the bad

Or... Instead of showing the image of her flying like the shooting star meme...why not just show the close up of her eyes opening, and then we cut into a first person perspective where the only thing we can see is her hand SLOWLY getting closer to the rubble of the ship and eventually to the door. For me that would've been so cool cause it would show that, while she's perfectly capable of using the force, she isn't as strong as a Jedi user + she's facing a near death experience. For me, that would've been the perfect way to visualize the fact that she's in an empty void in space while trying to reach out and hold onto the only chance of living she has. Literally and metaphoricly, but idk...I'm not a director or anything...that's just how I'd have done it :P
Or have her force-shield the bridge instead... or maybe, be like me and simply ignore the Disney Shit Wars trilogy and sit comfortably in the 'legends'
Meh. To me, they’re both bad for different reasons. TLJ has similar problems with BvS in prioritizing visuals and deconstructionist themes without organically connecting them with the plot and characters, thus leading to a lot of contradictions and inconsistencies. ROS is like Justice League, in which it tries to damage control the previous film and please everyone, and ends up pleading no one by making a plotless, visually-bankrupt junk food movie.
King Bash the thing is, even though TLJ kinda retcons TFA by killing Snoke or having Reys parents being no one, at least it could be considered a "fresh take" on Star Wars (no chosen one, no big bad evil guy), despite its shortcomings. Even though I didn’t really like it, I went out of the theatre telling myself "well at least the last one will be interesting to watch, I wonder where they are gonna go". And then TROS happened and I realized that Disney really considered Star Wars fans to be idiotic manbabies who would just swallow anything if you pat them on the head saying "don’t worry, the big bad Ryan Johnson movie didn’t really happen, here are some cool visuals to make you forget, and don’t worry, the Asian chick you hated won’t be in it". After seeing TLJ, I felt disappointed. After seeing TROS, I felt personally insulted.
Man, the casino planet scene is the one everyone seems to rag on about which I never saw because I went to the restroom to pee during that entire scene. I didn't miss much.
If you could miss a whole scene just because of a restroom break, doesn’t it prove that it’s not as consequential as people say it is? In terms of runtime at least.
3:15 lets not forget that 2 seconds before tossing his saber and saying he wouldnt kill his father, luke was beating his father, and cut off his father's hand. And he even says it was a moment of instinct. Luke, in a single moment of instinct was gonna kill ben. But he doesn't because he realizes its not the jedi way, and because he thinks, "havent i learned a thing from being a jedi i shouldnt use the force for attacking?" but it was too late. ben woke up and was convinced luke was about to kill him. So by trying to stop kylo ren, luke created it. That point made sense to me. Luke has always been a dude just doing what he thinks is right. During his duel with vader on the death star 2, he was lucky. he was lucky vader and palpatine weren't trying to kill him, he was luckily vader was conflicted, he was lucky palpatine was too arrogant to be convinced vader was completely devoted.
Did you see the battle? The Ewoks got creamed because of their primativr tech. Had Chewbacca and an Ewok not hijacked an AT-ST the Rebels would’ve lost
Personally I liked this video but I have one disagreement: Luke being a depressed hermit is a good concept but it breaks continuity with TFA as a big plot point in TFA was about how Luke made a map that was leading to him, and then in The Last Jedi he acted like he never did that or was never addressed. If TFA didn't have that or they acknowledged it in TLJ that made sense, I would've been down for Luke's arc. EDIT: Aside from that, I really loved the video.
Yeah that's one of Last Jedi's biggest problems in that it desperately tries to "subvert expectations" but in execution they either make no sense or contradicts prior build up and establishments.
@@stefanradebach2889 Thats also an issue with TROS. The stories might seem fine if you separate them but when you try to connect them it makes no sense
Not only that, but he chooses the planet where the jedi founded the first jedi temple and was in his jedi robes despite the fact that he supposedly hated the jedi teachings.
Well technically Luke never made the map with the intention of being found. He was searching for the first Jedi temple in his days before taking in Ben and his other students. He had discovered its location, but only partially. Hence why R2 has piece of that map. However he had discussed his plans to find Ach’ To with Lorr San Tekka, the man who gave Poe the map in TFA, and he was the one who finished the map. He found his map and he gave it to the Resistance because that’s where he BELIEVED Skywalker was, and he just happened to be correct. This isn’t just some theory either, you CAN look up this information on Wookiepedia, specifically under Lorr San Tekka’s background page.

@@KC_Streams yeah 3-month younger me didn't really know how to type a sentence properly sorry. Truth be told, I don't know what I was trying to say with that comment. That's a relatively far cry from the original sentence, but I assume that's what I was trying to say.
Themes are meant to add to a story, not to prop one up like a crutch. If a story doesn’t make sense, or it’s characters don’t make sense, themes are meaningless. I wish more people would realize this.
Well, honestly, I prefer RoS over TLJ and TFA. Simply because I'm able to sit through the movie without being bored out of my mind. TFA is really boring to me for reasons stated many times and TLJ is even worse with this, after the burn wears off it's just a really dull and unexciting movie. At least RoS felt like there was something happening and moments that I care about, it had quite high highs but it had very low lows. Is it a good movie? God no but I honestly prefer watching TPM over TFA or TLJ. Because at least TPM had some characters I cared about. But that's just an opinion, a film opinion.
Adrian Naranjo From what I heard LucasFilm is going to do another Star Wars saga set during the Old Republic where the films will be similar to the Marvel films, in terms of their format. That leads me believe that LucasFilm wanted to do that story more than the sequel trilogy because the sequel trilogy almost feels rushed so they can do what they really want, a MCU-like series but for Star Wars.
It's too bad that so far they've refused to take on one thing that they _should_ be using from the MCU - *meticulously planning out all of the films ahead of time.* I'm hoping they'll learn from that mistake with this rumored High Republic film series, because honestly the obvious lack of planning was _by far_ the biggest problem with the sequel trilogy.
@@fightingmedialounge519 And yet they formed an extremely coherent narrative, because Kevin Feige was overseeing everything to make sure it all lined up. Good or bad, every film in the MCU at least has a purpose in the overall narrative.
The Leia scene: they could’ve made it look more like she’s walking or swimming instead of this half Superman pose. Idk if that works with the force but it would’ve looked better
I’m thinking that they should’ve just had her drifting through space then using her force powers to give herself a push so she kinda limply drifts back towards the airlock as she begins losing consciousness. Would convey a tragic tone and her condition better than the “Mary Poppins” pose.
All of your ideas are far far worse than what we got. Seriously there's no problem with the original scene, she's just doing what everyone else does to force pull, stand upright and reaches out, she just isn't standing on anything. It looks fine jesus christ. There is no better way to do it.
Another perspective would have worked. Maybe even cut away after showing her twitching fingers and showing her arriving back on the ship from the perspective of the main cast. Or a first person view, showing her hand grasping the rebel ship. Her pose isn't the problem. moving your limbs in space just looks silly and accomplishes nothing.
One plan. We needed one plan. Not make each movie based on the reaction of the last ones.

I don't know if it's just me but I FEEL the tug of war between the creative visions while watching the triology, and it's honestly so disappointing.

@@WiloPolis03 same, totally agree, particularly for all the non-original-trilogy movies.
If JJ directed it, he would've turned the whole series into a butt ton of setups but with almost none to no resolution. That's why I think Rian should do it: his work on Knives Out was great, so three Star Wars movies may not be a problem
Edit: Speaking of which, recent news said that Rian was in fact going to have a trilogy to himself but it got cancelled :(
I had the opposite character arc, I thought the movie was shit. But I think I've learnt to see the bad AND GOOD of the film, like the whole Canto Bight thing was BS but the final scene with Luke trolling the fuck out of Kylo is genius or that the Luke being a prick kinda sucks, but the cinematography slaps so hard.
Not only that but allowing Ben to kill him like he did his father would only hurt Ben even more but luke prevents this
Except he not only dies anyway but he doesn’t pick up his balls and fucking face up to his own wrong doing
Luke should have attempted to apologize to Ben and attempt to explain himself
The fact that he says “No” when asked if he came to save Bens souls was just the worst
This is a regression for the character at best
@KRobinson-ko1ne he says no when kylo mockingly asks if he's there to save his soul bc Luke knows he cannot be the one to redeem Kylo just like how Obi-Wan could never be the one to make Vader change. Also he was there to save the Resistance and make Kylo feel as unbalanced as possible so he'd make rash decisions so mocking Kylo certainly worked.
Okay…
So Luke can redeem Darth Vader of all people but not a student that he actually considered killing momentarily?
No offense but this argument of yours doesn’t hold water. If Luke led Ben to believe he was plotting to kill him while he was already immersed in the force iteself then Luke is without debate at fault for corrupting him. Luke is more than responsible for Ben and saying “no” like so just shows regression at best.
I’d honestly argue that this is misrepresentation and given the themes that Rian seems to be gunning for I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in filming he intended to misrepresent him

Righ?! It's magic to have two actors display that much organic chemistry with one another.

That way, when one of them actually do get killed off (I'd probably save til the last movie) the audience would have such an emotional connection to the characters by that point.

That explosion could have signaled the death of so many resistance member and they couldn't have known whether all of their friends survived

@Failingpepper 11 Hes an old man, he doesnt have to cry to show that hes sad

Tanner Bruning I think he’s interesting, but most of that is the actor Giancarlo Esposito who knows how to shape a character well, plus you didn’t see him through the whole series and they have more room to build him up for the future if they use their setup properly
I liked Werner Herzog more as a Villian, but he probably has better things to do than be in Disney+ films
I think the best way to summarise the three trilogies, is:
The OT was a series with a strong vision, and a strong sense of collaborative talent, Lucas set the stage, and directors (Marquand, Kershner) screenwriters (Lawrence Kasdan) editors (Marcia Lucas, ) sound designers (Ben Burtt) etc were all given the room to maneuver to bring their talent to its greatest effect.
the PT was a series with a strong vision, but a very weak sense of collaboration of talent.
The first 2 of these had the overarching theme of legacy.
@@brianbrush5107 that's certainly present in all three trilogies... thematics aren't the issue with the Sequel trilogy, plot construction was,

Finally another "Finn should have died" guy! I'm so glad I'm not alone here. It would have been a perfect end to his arc
the thing that make me hate rose is she didint let finn do the thing, i was already crying for finn´s death and she took my feels and like the good ideas from tlj in tros she threw them away.

The first order deserter, aside from her origin, was literally just a more confident Rose. She only exists because they wanted to write rose out of the movie.

AndHelloAgain
The problem is the way the line is delivered and the context of it.
@@Bothandle70 Because Fighting what you hate is what saves what you love in the first place.
the character was okay, Rose had enough potential to have a better character development than a lot of Star Wars characters, but its execution wasn’t well.

Force Awakens was good
TLJ was bad with good elements
ROS could’ve been better but was ok

Rouge One: I'm I a joke to you!?
2026: Sebastian Barron Terceros and this movie didnt say i will not be star wars episode 8 the last jedi
Yes, you're you a joke to I
Actually Snoke says "The Force Awakens" in ep7.
yes rogue one is a joke
@2026: Sebastian Barron Terceros they don't say Episode 8 either
How to fix the Space Leia scene:
Show her finger twitch.
Cut to her at the air lock.
Let the audience fill in the gaps.
Or have a close up of her face struggling, with her hand extended and the scenery around her passing by.
Oh God is Friend!!
Or have her force-shield the bridge instead... or maybe, be like me and simply ignore the Disney Shit Wars trilogy and sit comfortably in the 'legends'
This comment is actually brilliant.
Schaffrillas: this is the first Star Wars movie to say its name (something like that)
Rogue one and solo: am I a joke to you
Solo was after TLJ
Also, Rogue One was a spin-off, it's technically not essential to the timeline like the main movies are.

That's kind of what people were saying about the prequels when tlj.
Kye Dysarthria Revenge of the Sith over the sequels any day
Episode ix make luke skywalker even more coward since he could have go to crait with the x-wing the whole time
The best piece of star wars media is the SNL undercover boss segment.
I hear Kylo has an eight-pack
"Oh no he's choking on food!"
Kurtis McPherson I heard that he's shredded 😍

Man, the casino planet scene is the one everyone seems to rag on about which I never saw because I went to the restroom to pee during that entire scene. I didn't miss much.
You could go to the bathroom to skip the worst scene in a movie?
Is it possible to learn this power
Not from Rian Johnson.
If you could miss a whole scene just because of a restroom break, doesn’t it prove that it’s not as consequential as people say it is? In terms of runtime at least.

lets not forget that 2 seconds before tossing his saber and saying he wouldnt kill his father, luke was beating his father, and cut off his father's hand.

Eiran Keating so when are you getting married? 😜
Ah, a man of culture, I see
Personally I liked this video but I have one disagreement: Luke being a depressed hermit is a good concept but it breaks continuity with TFA as a big plot point in TFA was about how Luke made a map that was leading to him, and then in The Last Jedi he acted like he never did that or was never addressed.
The stories might seem fine if you separate them but when you try to connect them it makes no sense
technically it was a map to the first jedi temple everybody just correctly assumed Luke was there
Not only that, but he chooses the planet where the jedi founded the first jedi temple and was in his jedi robes despite the fact that he supposedly hated the jedi teachings.
I think as a very hardcore starwars fan there is a difference between a good film and a good starwars movie

The best character arc regarding tlj is Schaffrillas productions'. He hated it at first, but over the time of 2 years, he learned that all opinions are valid, and came around to quite liking it.
No, it's that you can only make so many videos hating something, but if you come around on it, you get that controversy bump.

On what basis do you conclude that he used to not think all opinions are valid. It's possible to absolutely hate something with your heart, and still think that other opinions of valid.
@@KC_Streams yeah 3-month younger me didn't really know how to type a sentence properly sorry. Truth be told, I don't know what I was trying to say with that comment. Maybe I was trying to say "He remembered that all opinions are valid so listened more to people's positive remarks on the film, started to see the good aspects of it and came around to liking it". That's a relatively far cry from the original sentence, but I assume that's what I was trying to say.
Sequel Trilogy in a Nutshell :
TFA: Mystery Boxes
TLJ: Muh Themes
RoS: Hot Mess
Themes are meant to add to a story, not to prop one up like a crutch. If a story doesn’t make sense, or it’s characters don’t make sense, themes are meaningless. I wish more people would realize this.
@@idfkwhatyouwantfromme I fully agree
@@idfkwhatyouwantfromme I second that
Well, honestly, I prefer RoS over TLJ and TFA.
This list reminds me of my family
"This movie constantly feels like a weak attempt to be Marvel"
*That right there is the answer to all that's wrong with Disney Star Wars*
Marvel really didn't have a meticulous plan; constant changing directors.

Stella K lmao Carrie fisher doing the forward stroke through empty space
Dude walking or swimming would have looked fucking fifty times stupider. Are you serious?
All of your ideas are far far worse than what we got. Seriously there's no problem with the original scene, she's just doing what everyone else does to force pull, stand upright and reaches out, she just isn't standing on anything. It looks fine jesus christ. There is no better way to do it.
Another perspective would have worked. Maybe even cut away after showing her twitching fingers and showing her arriving back on the ship from the perspective of the main cast.
Or a first person view, showing her hand grasping the rebel ship.
Her pose isn't the problem. moving your limbs in space just looks silly and accomplishes nothing.
