Thank you!. I believe the corners I installed were old stock. I have heard that the guy that was originally making them passed away and these new molds don't seem to be as good.. Lots of modification to make them work.
Nice to see YOU built it and not some $80K shop. I'm doin a '41 myself. Stuck w/ the wishbone front end but chassis eng rear. SB chevy and 350TH (same Lokar shift knob). Trying to capture the late '50s era hot rod.
@@780SpeedCustom it's on the road, with the orig Henry paint! No cab rust but prime showing. Body work w/o disassembly starts next spring. Probably pull it apart next winter to paint it. Thanks
I'm building a plastic '40 pick up model and this video was such a pleasant thing to see buddy! Really nice build by your own. Great colour and all round. Even the music (can you tell me the name?). Cheers from Brazil
Thank you! It's a lot of work but worth it in the end! Front suspension is mostly mustang 2, custom cross member because the 35-41 frame is narrower than a mustang 2. Companies like Chassis engineering or Heidts make kits for this. Rear end I'm running is a ford 9" out of a 1958 ford car as they are the correct width. I've changed the engine/trans since this video. Currently has a 6.0L LQ4 and a 4L60E trans. There are a number of companies that make parts for projects like this. BobDrake, Horton, Bitchin Products, and Wescott just to name a few.
Original frame yea, I believe 1935 - 1941 share the same frame. The 47 cab isn't much different. Subtle differences.. the door stamping, window frames, rear window etc. Westcott makes nice glass fenders/hood for the 40-41. Bob drake sells a replacement grille. 40-41 sheet metal is hard to come by.
Hey, I bought them from George Moir Antique Auto Parts Ltd. www.georgemoir.ca The panels themselves are made by Bob Drake. www.bobdrake.com Part number TM-3847IDB.
I'm trying to fix up my grandpa's 1958 ford f1 with a Chevy small block under the hood and stiffened suspension the truck has had many engines inning and has accumulated 4.5 million ish miles
Everything good until I saw stupid choice of power .. my 40 truck ran a 50 mercury flathead thru my high-school years and still, running 15 years after high-school
Please people, stop calling this kind of modified vehicles a "restoration". Don't These Guys understand restoration means to put back to original condition? Not modified!!
Congrats and well done, I am Working on a 1940 commercial myself, your project looks great, I have had issues with cab corner vendor etc.
Thank you!. I believe the corners I installed were old stock. I have heard that the guy that was originally making them passed away and these new molds don't seem to be as good.. Lots of modification to make them work.
Very nice, not a show truck but nicer than a rat rod.I"d say you nailed it!

Beautiful looking truck, however, think zip would choose a better color than green for it. Still a nice job ya did on this old classic.
was this originally a military truck?
Not military no, this truck was used on a farm.
Excellente.
The journey is almost better than having the end prize
Building them is 1/2 the fun for sure!
@@780SpeedCustom very cool ride, nice to see it go from rust to gold
It looks good .

Krylon's camo olive drab with a satin clear
@@780SpeedCustom thank you very much.

Could do with losing the music when you are talking because in places it drowns you out. Great job you are doing.
Noted, will do. Thanks!
