Now Yolonda!!!! That may be the closest and the best rendition and or Tribute to "I Will Always Love You" I have ever heard. She was able to put her stank on it without never getting too off track. Deborah Cox on The Body Guard play would be the 2nd Best to Ever do it.

She's singing Whitney Houston's version at the Dolly Parton tribute. That kind of bothered me but they're both good versions. It just didn't make sense to me to choose this one and part of me wonders if Yolanda even ever heard Dolly sing it, lol. Either way - she did amazing.

Dolly might’ve requested it that way. She was a fan of Whitney and loved her version. Yolanda knew who she was singing the song to and who it honored as well.
Whitney's version is MUCH better!!! Even Dolly admitted that! So, thank goodness she didn't sing Dolly's version!
A tribute means her songs and thing she wrote. So it doesn't matter about the interpretation...it was written by Dolly!

Yolanda tried going soft and mellow at 4:00 like Whitney always did, shifting into falsetto, but she was unable to (and so she did her gospel-esque ad libs). I love Yolanda. I revere her, but it's during times like this when you realize Whitney's vocal control and fluid register shifts were on a different level.
Unfortunately Whitney didn't make it to age 60 but she didn't have these pipes in her last years alive so let me commend Yolanda for being 60 and still leaving us in awe 🫢

En un homenaje no se busca igualar al anfitrión, se trata de reconocer su labor. Dolly es la anfitriona y en varias entrevistas ella mencionó que la versión de Whitney Houston es su favorita. Si escogieron a Yolanda Adams para hacer la canción creo que fue a propósito de eso porque la voz de Dolly es dulce, mientras que la de Yolanda es mucho más resonante, encaja perfecto para esa versión que cantó.
