Passed my PMP with a month of preparation going over the PMBOK, and by watching your videos. I particularly listened to this video numerous times leading up to my exam. Many thanks for your help!
You go Mellissa!!! WOOT!!!! Congratulations on your awesome accomplishments. Great way to start 2018!!! And.......the year has just begun! Drop some gold for our colleagues, tips, tricks, study advice?
Congratulations on passing. Please I intent to write the exam as well but I have no experience at all in Project management. How do I go about it. I have a busy work schedule and would not have time to go to study centre. I just started downloading videos. Any advice on self study? Awaiting your reply
Kehinde Onanuga there is CAPM Practice exam book that you probably can find a pdf version of via Google. CAPM is the recommended certification for entry level project management for those with little or no experience
Hi Phill, today I cleared my PMP exam with 5 ATs. I must thank you for the vast treasure trove of videos that you have put up here to help everyone; it definitely helped me A LOT. I religiously followed your '40 days to PMP success' series, it was the guiding compass that kept me on course and gave a structure to my study plan. (No one teaches ITTOs better that you!!) Thanks again!
HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS SHAKANK1!!! Fantastic result!!!!! Thanks for showing some love and leaving a nice testimonial. I appreciate your support. Send us a message. I have something for you: www.praizion.com (bottom right of the page).
Hi Phill, i have passed my PMP exam. All your tutorial videos are very useful. I really appreciate all your efforts explaining PMBOK- Guide principles... Thank you again and very best wishes for all your future endeavours...
Thank you for the way you clearly explained the 47 processes. It really "clicked" and I feel that I will be able to re-create this chart which should be very helpful in passing my CAPM exam.
Wow! That is fantastic Vivek! Hearty congrats! How did you achieve such an awesome result? Please share 3 tips if you could. Enjoy your life after PMP Exam success! Well done :-)
Sure Phill :) ------ 1. For me, Actual Exam was more difficult than any mock exams I tried. (PrepCast, Prezion, SimpliLearn, Rita, HeadFirst) 2. While self studying, create your own questions of How, Why, When... Try to find answers from online forums & videos. Bookmark these pages. For me, clearing basic concept is better than going through PMBOK, RITA or other books 3-4 times. 3. Subscribe to Phill's course, RUclips channel & some other good channels. Get notified for latest videos. I found this current video very very helpful in my initial days. Follow his small small tips. Tips for PMBOK6, 42 days drives, Tips for last 7 days, last day, how to handle mental pressure etc..
Gosh, it took me a hell lot of time to understand the process flow and then print it in my mind ... still no success .... but after going through your video Professor ... its been a clear thought process without having a single pinch of doubt about it ... Thanks a lot, Sir ... you just saved my PMP exam ... Thanks a ton for putting this presentation free of cost :)
It was v.helpful and thank you for the presentation. Just one small error: In Planning process group, Qualitative Analysis is written twice. Hence change the second one to Quantitative Analysis. That doesn't matter though but just thought of letting you know. Thank you once again.
Hi , I want to switch my job profile to project management , could you tell me how to study for project management interviews , I have directed small projects but havent used these techniques ?
Just be honest and sincere about what you are looking for. Be ready for opportunities by being prepared. Take the CAPM Exam. Its a great first step. All you need is a high-school diploma. You can take our prep course and Watch my videos on project management basics, take a course on MS Project (a scheduling tool). Be ready to start as a project coordinator and move your way up. Check out my free audio album (Job Seekers Motivation) here: tinyurl.com/jobseekerspm also watch our video on the Sr. PM interview for more ideas: ruclips.net/video/BWyfZ3iEjP4/видео.html
Totally agree with others comments: you made the whole flow crystal clear! I am catching up with your other videos before taking the exam next week! Thank you so much Phill!
Outstanding explanations.I don't know the name of the particular management our professor will offer us this term. Nice explanation sir. Well understandable.
Thank you! This was very helpful. Just an observation here and not to be critical, on the Planning processes slide, you had a small typo. There are two "Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis" processes depicted.
Praizion Not sure just yet. I'm ready for the 5th edition but I'm stuck on the 4500 hours and getting that squared away for the application (I don't want to get audited). So, I might have to wait til after April and do the 6th.
Thanks Diaa. You need to know P.61 and UNDERSTAND the logic and possible process flow of occurrences for the exam. For example. I am managing a project and I just completed my WBS, what should I as a project manager do NEXT? or I am in executing managing a stakeholder and she gives me a change request, what should I the PM do NEXT? or I just completed my Risk Register. Should I do qualitative risk analysis or Estimate Costs or Plan Procurements? or I just completed my HR Plan, should I Estimate Costs next or should I do Acquire Project Team? You see, the PMBOK does not teach this, you need to work it out with instructor guidance if possible. I would say try to work out what happens next by looking at dependencies between processes. "Process Dependencies". Look out for my video on this soon. All the best!
Thank you! Very true. Read the entire PMP Handbook for all the details: www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/public/pdf/certifications ;/project-management-professional-handbook.pdf
I know this is exam prep but definitely not real world unless you work for a Bank or very large organization (100k employees or more). An MSP cannot afford to move so slow and if you're doing Agile Scrum this really goes out the window. A PM that uses this approach would be fired in two weeks at a small or medium size company. I worked at smaller companies but now work at a bank and we use this approach. Very Meeting heavy. We talk about work more than we do work. Projects across all areas slide to the right. Never would have happened at my previous Software Development company. We used Lean and got things done! Great video for the exam, sorry to vent I just hate this slow, lethargic approach. Lots of talk and documentation. Like I said... meeting heavy. When you work for an MSP your external client will want to see actuals (hours, cost and the work done). You just sent the client 200 hours of talking and no actual development work. Consider that contract cancelled and your company can prepare to lawyer up! Only a non-technical Project Manager would see all these steps as necessary. A Technical PM would see this as a waste of time, resources and budget. Sorry, still venting about the planning process.
Venting is always welcome here. Thanks for the vent and truth :-) Its all about balance. What does management want? What works best for you? Are you Agile or Waterfall. In some firms "Agile" is a forbidden word in Engineering though. You are most certainly NOT meant to perform every single process on your projects. You are meant to TAILOR the 47 processes. Think of the 80/20 rule. In my opinion only 20% of these processes are needed for an 80% pay-off in the real world. Several successful firms use only a handful of these. Thinking "agilely" while using these processes helps. If it ain't useful, dump it. I would choose about 9 - 10 of these as "must-have" processes on medium projects.
LOL. Pimpy is my mascot's name but PMP is the real exam. It stands for Project Management Professional. You know like you have Human Resource Professionals? This is for people who are into project management. See more at www.pmi.org
I am unsure of how the Perform Quality Assurance process occurs before the Acquire Project Team, Develop Project Team and Manage Project Team. If the QA process is going on, what processes are the team looking at if the team has not yet been established. Can someone clarify? Thanks!
Samantha, the processes are not linear. That is just how PMI presented the information because it must be in some sensible order. In the real world any process could happen way before or way after the PMI lists them :-)
Hey Jon. Our main PMP course is only $175 per month compared to the PMI fees for the exam ($555). I think there is a mix up. Here is the link: praizionmedia.com/praizion/?page_id=740 I have provided $0 cost training for our military folks in the past and provided many free videos right here on RUclips to help people pass the exam. Check out our course here: praizionmedia.com/praizion/?page_id=740 I think you must have stumbled on the retired FIFTH Edition retired content pages. Those materials are no longer being sold for the Fifth Edition and prices shown are to discourage people from inadvertently buying the wrong content.
Praizion, thank you for the information, however, the information I saw is the same that you provided. When I say it is a hefty price to pay, I am referring to the $17.76 one time fee I paid for my course with and the $0 for the other cohort. $175 a month just seems high to me, that's all. From the videos I watched, your course is well worth the spending the money but like I mentioned, for us military personnel seems expensive
Is the video supposed to be 30 min? The only copies i can find cut off after 5 min. :( If anyone knows where to find the full video please let me know!
Any degree Ramya. I have taught many people from all over the spectrum. Engineers, Lawyers, Doctors, English majors, Music majors. It is a certification that is useful to many professions not just one particular one.
The PMP Exam is a generic project management exam that cuts across all fields. Being an event manager does not make any difference. I would advise you to read the PMP handbook: www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/public/pdf/certifications/project-management-professional-handbook.pdf
It will not work on a tablet by the way. You need Flash player - not available on tablets or phones. The page is working. Many students took this quiz today.
