10 Things You Can’t Do with the iPhone (not even in 2022)

  • Get your questions answered by me personally here: clueby.com/mobiscrub The #iPhone14 and #iPhone14Pro are undoubtedly great phones! They are amongst the best smartphones to exist in 2022 with unrivalled security, privacy and video recording capabilities. However, there are still many quirks in iOS that makes the iPhone less desirable from a flexibility, productivity and compatibility point of view. There are many basic things that are still missing and if added, can truly make iPhone an unprecedented winner in the smartphone world.
    00:00 Let's go!
    00:04 Limited Call History
00:31 No Pause in Vid Rec
    00:56 No Call Recording
    01:15 No T9 Dialing
    01:56 File Exchange Incompatibility
    02:28 Truecaller Issues
02:57 Files & Photos Is Messed up
    03:36 Cursor Placement
    04:17 Whatsapp Migration
    04:58 No Split Screen
So after watching this, do you still think iOS is better than Android?
If you considered ease of use and functionality, I truly believe iOS is way behind Android. The flexibility, multiple ways of doing different things, the compatibility with the rest of the devices across the world (and not just 2 more devices like MacBook and iPad) matter a lot more to the average smartphone user than just smoother user experience or marginal battery improvement or 2 years of extra OS upgrade.
So in this constant battle of Apple vs Samsung or iOS vs Android, I think it is about what matters most to the user.

Most don't know of all the stuff Android can do so they don't miss options they don't know exist. I use an iPhone Mon-Thur as a tool in the ecosystem. Add to the list 1) No battery saver, lpm is a gimmick, on Android the power saver would drastically extend the battery life for additional 10-15 hrs
    2) media sharing amongst apps, ios works on a compartmentalized storage, each app has its own storage and can't use other app's data (generally) unlike Androids, e. g. music apps like wynk would not be able to read local files on ios but work flawlessly with android, same for images and other files
    3) You can't control network connectivity - say you want to switch to 2g today, which makes sense in case you wish to save power and if you are using wifi for data and wifi calling is enabled
    4) if an app is malfunctioning, you will have to uninstall and reinstall it on ios, on Android you could just clear cache/data, can also manage installer files
    5) Reverse power sharing
    6) Navigation buttons

Awesome video! People who are used to a limited experience in iOS can never understand why I always switch back and forth...
I usually say: if you use one thing at a time (means don't need more than one app to finish a task) or have a low productivity, the iPhone is amazing. Once you need to do something very important and specific, the iPhone adds many extra annoying steps, especially if you don't use all their services.
In my 13 pro Max most third party apps are slower to open, sometimes they open fast and sometimes they take 5 seconds in a black screen. Typing is much slower than in Android, even using Gboard, the predictions are much slower than my typing pace so I'm always waiting for the prediction to guess the word so I can tap on it. System is not designed for large files, they basically crush the whole phone and make you get trapped for minutes downloading, uploading, attaching, cooying before you can do something else, or you risk loosing the progress if the screen simply fades out. Airdrop works when it wants, everything you do with a file creates an extra copy of the file in that sandboxed app, using storage unnecessarily...
A simple task of downloading a PDF from one homepage, filling in data, saving and sending back via another app is always a nightmare in the iPhone.
Apps are inconsistent for share sheet and gestures such as slide left to go back, you can never know which app can share with which app and you end up opening the app and trying to find the file all over again in the gallery.
The daily use and smoothness is eye catching, but once you get back to Android it feels like things suddently work

The iPhone still don't have the option for a dedicated number row on top of keyboard, when you tap to wake up the lock screen it would be nice to double tap to put it back to sleep like on Android. Apple music app don't have the option to fade the tracks your playing but it allows you to on Android🤷🏾‍♂️ We still can't interact with widgets still have to open the app to perform basic functions like play, pause, scroll up and down to see more information.

Switching between iOS and Samsung phones for the last 5 years these are the annoying things I have noticed apart from the above video:
    1. Photo Gallery: iOS has the worst Gallery of all time. The images taken from the camera and WhatsApp download are stored in the same album. Hence everything gets mixed which makes it difficult to find the photos that you clicked from your phone.
    2. Calculator: No dedicated delete button. You have to swipe everytime to delete a single number.
    3. File Management: The worst file management system ever.
    4. Notification Management: In Android I can disable notifications for offers, promotions and still get notified for important stuff. Whereas in iOS you can either disable all the notifications or receive all the notifications which includes offers & promotions as well.
    5. Widgets: Compared to Samsung, iOS has few widgets which are mostly useless. The Calendar widget with transparency in One UI is pretty amazing.
There are more but I recall only these 5 annoying things iOS does to ruin my smartphone experience.
Regardless there are certain things which I can agree that iOS does much better than Android.

I have a lot of things I HATE about iPhone when compared to Android, but I'd say the one that annoys me the most is the calculator app. In iPhone, you have no cursor, so you must delete everything you typed in case you mistyped something at the beginning of a number. And the worst part: you have no history of calculations. If you calculated something and want to remember the result, you have to use another app to store it, because the app doesn't have any historic. Not to mention that to delete something you typed you gotta GUESS that you have to slide your finger above the number.

I just knew it was a T9 keyboard in old days but the way you showed to directly type keys of the names and it will search those exact names it was mind blowing. For the WhatsApp migration from Android to iOS, I think there's a bit of workaround but it involves you having another iPhone. Reset the secondary iPhone, move WhatsApp there, backup to iCloud, then restore via iCloud on your primary iPhone. Theoretically that should work..
But I agree, as a WhatsApp user, moving between these two systems causes headache. Heck, moving from iOS to Android wasn't even available officially until few months ago! I think Apple needs to allow user to import/export backup from flash drive. Let WhatsApp do the encryption themselves.

I agree with you. As long time android user, who owns iPhone now for 6 months now, I also miss some features. The one that bothers me the most is the missing T9 support for dialling. I was using this all the time and was shocked that iPhone does not have this. Also transferring files to computer and to other people also. I end up sending photos to other people with WeTransfer.
I hope that apple makes some improvement on this issues, but otherwise I don't regret switching from Samsung. Everything is so smoother and I hated those rounded screens Samsung is making on those flagship phones. And I am really impressed by battery life on my 13 pro max - after really long day and heavy phone usage, I manage to end my day with around 65-70% left. These are the few reasons I dont want to switch to an iPhone near future (no matter how much I like the smoothness) BUT cant trade off the usability of an Android over the iOS. As the "family tech support" role falls on me, I've always had a feeling of having to work around even miniscule problems with unnecessary and even expensive solutions, due to features which I take for granted in android and esp. samsung, is simply not present in ios. The latest frustration being Wifi- direct, which is a common feature on new TV 's that iOS simply can't handle. It's honestly such a hassle. I tried to stream something from Apple TV through my chromecast, and the workaround simply was not worth the subscription.
I'm always left with a feeling of having my hands tied, trying to solve these problems that shouldn't be a problem in thefurst place. It's simply Apple intentionally putting out stupid obstacles just to be arses.

I was curious about IOS and eventually got an iPhone 13 pro max. This was 5 months ago. Straight away, I noticed the smoothness and consistency of use, excellent photo and video features, all topped up by the incredible SOC and battery. Plenty if you ask me. Still, I find myself preferring my one ui Z fold 4, not for the obvious multitasking advantage or wider screen, but due to its intuitive ease of use encompassing everything in this excellent video and others. IOS is sadly too rigid, and the otherwise excellent 13 pro max now collects dust most days.

If someone shares their location through WhatsApp it will open on apple maps and there’s no way to get directions to the person who shared. So much more

On WhatsApp, if someone sends me a location, I get the option to choose between maps and Google maps. Try to click on the left icon in blue and not the main area.
