Volvo 850 Restoration - Head Gasket Replacement | First Start

Our Volvo 850 needed a new head gasket and after getting the head overhauled and bolted back down to the engine block, it is time to prepare and install the camshafts, cam cover, apply anaerobic sealant, re-install the timing belt and basically put everything back together so we can finally start the 850 up and see of our repair is successful!

Project’s Background Story -
On February 21 ’09 our dad bought this ’96 Volvo 850 2.5L 20V estate. The Volvo has a big emotional value for us and seeing the car sitting still for so many years and watching nature taking over broke our hearts. After nine years, and sitting outside for 7 of those 9 years, we finally got our hands on the 850 and brought it back home where we will restore it to its former glory. Once we finish the restoration, we intend to make a road trip and keep in the family for many more years to come.

Hello neighbors, you look very tired at the end but - great work :) Just a little fine tuning, some bolts here and there and it should run beautiful! Hopefully your exhaust manifold is not damaged...I had to change mine, too.

Get a 1 piece gasket from a P1 T5 just have to trim a bit of on one side but way better then those stupid 5 piece

Good work guys!
I recently replaced the exhaust manifold with new gaskets of course on my -97 s70, and for some odd reason the gasket on cylinder 2 would not seat enough. I had to take off the manifold 3 times before it was perfect😅
Seems to be a bastard of a gasket.
Anyways, it will be interesting to see if the ol’ 850 regained some life after the service of the head!
