I will never forget watching the episodes Chicanery and Plan and Execution for the first times they are some of the greatest TV episodes ever made.
I’ll never forgot sitting their jaw dropped just like the judges when chucked looked over at them
Chicanery is on a whole nother level
For me Season 6 episode 8 “point and shoot” the best episode ever in BCS
@@AbdulMoiz-qj6ko same
Me before watching BCS: Come on, when will Jimmy become Saul Goodman?!
Me after watching the fun and games episode: Noooo turn it back, Jimmy! I don't wanna see him turn into Saul goodman, stop!
I swear the entirety of season 6 was Vince & Gould staring at the viewers, dead-eyed, and saying "Fine. Here's Saul."
Plan and Execution literally left me in so much shock and awe I couldn’t sleep just thinking about the candle flicker and Howard’s death. It was so haunting and so tragic and so impactful my God it left thinking about it for weeks. I am glad for the little break we got from the show. This episode is on par with Ozymandias and maybe even surpasses idk they’re both masterclass television. I just re watched BB after BCS ended and It finally felt like a new experience after so many rewatches of BB. It all came full circle….
Surpassing Ozymandias is kind of a stretch, as Ozymandias has more impact and is a much bigger conclusion as everything that happened in the show lead to that point.
Idk ozymandias began with hanks death and somehow got even better.
It does not surpass Ozymandias at all wtf
Something that’s also important to point out about ‘Plan and Execution’ is the scene with Lalo in the sewer. After his phone call with Hector, he sees a cockroach crawling around, which reminds him of Jimmy as he called him one in ‘Bagman’. This shows how Jimmy’s bad choice road in the criminal world had caught up with him and he’s finally seeing the consequences.
Something that I don't see a lot of love for despite being an incredible episode is JMM. Kim and Jimmy get married, Jimmy has one of his definitive becoming Saul moments when he goes through with defending Lalo for the murder of an innocent kid, and the incredibly delivered "LIGHTNINGBOLTS SHOOT FROM MY FINGERTIPS" rant from Jimmy to Howard.
The fact that point and shoot isn't on this list just proves how many 10/10 episodes Better Call Saul has
@J L Ratio
@J L I wouldn’t I was disappointed with the overall episode, but I agree that Lalo’s death was pretty underwhelming for how great of a villain he was.
@J L Double Ratio
@@BingBong422 Nah Gus was out of character asf in that episode. Why tf would he endanger himself like that ???
@@D14MBK Because he has a deep hatred for the salamancas and he wanted to kill lalo by his own hand
I was not expecting someone else to put “winner” as one of their favorites. As ive been rewatching saul the cold open literally brought me to tears knowing how bad everything gets.
Incredible video. Cant wait to see what you make next
It’s one of my favourite scenes of the entire series
I didn't expect to put "Winner" there either. It wasn't on my radar at all despite the spectacular cold open. But the whole episode is a masterpiece.
Me and everyone Ik love that episode, it’s one of my favourites
@@NightwalkExtras That scene with Lalo on the phone with Werner is genuinely one of my favorites in the show. His face when he realizes it’s Mike is perfect. I would say that I disagree with Mike’s arc ending there, though. In Season 5, he clearly can’t come to grips with killing a good and (relatively) innocent man. He lashes out at Kaylee at the mention of his son and he fits the delinquents again. It is after his conversation with Gus in the village where he says he needs a soldier that I think Mike reaches his Breaking Bad state in his resigned obedience to Gus.
Notable exceptions have to be:
5 / 6 - Wexler V Goodman
5 / 9 - Bad Choice Road
6 / 8 - Point and Shoot
I also really like
4 / 8 Coushatta
and 5 / 10 Something Unforgivable
although I know these arent the most popular opinions.
Inflatable has to be in my top 3. Its an underrated episode that gets to much hate. It has by far the best montage in all of bcs
Something unforgivable is amazing
@@Seelen_ Inflatable doesn't get any hate. It just isn't in people's top episodes
Yes, Wexler v Goodman and Coushatta are in a different vein than the ones that dominate this list. Another similar that doesn't get as much love as it deserves: Marco.
Point and shoot was the most tension I’ve ever felt in a tv show. Bagman might just be the most well made episode. Saul Gone is a beautiful ending. And Chicanery is the most perfect episode from a character stand point.
Point and Shoot is my personal favorite episode. I think it gets overshadowed by the far more shocking/impactful Plan and Execution, but Point and Shoot hold just as much if not more weight in terms of quality. The foreshadowing, action, and symbolism in that episode is beyond incredible. Its as if you took all the tension from the last 5 minutes of Plan and Execution and then stretched it out across a full episode. I thought nothing could possibly top seeing Howard's death, yet that episode did. And thats why it sticks out to me
@@krypticunlimited6925 I totally agree, it also could be my favorite episode because it never stops the tension from the beginning to salamanca's death, the only thing that kinda ruins this perfection to me is that I also speak spanish, and that last Gus speech was pathetic, I know the first language of the actor is not spanish but jesus, I really couldn't get any sentence he said completely.
@@krypticunlimited6925 i agree it's also my favourite episode from the show. It is directed by the legend himself vince, it has the best cinematography of the show and it has the best acting from every actor.
@@krypticunlimited6925 Big talk… we done? No, not yet:
I agree. Point and Shoot is also my favorite episode of the show. It got overshadowed by Plan and Execution and I wished it had gotten as much praise as it, and to see more people bringing it up as their favorite. There is not one weak part of the episode for me, not one moment that I wasn’t as invested or glued to the screen as any other scene in the episode.
I think Fun and Games has the best opening of any BCS episode, also the greatest montage imo
I’d have to put the winner opening above personally, but I agree it’s probably the best montage. Fantastic stuff and an underrated episode because it’s stuck after two action-packed ones
I agree, and a lot of great scenes
my personal favorite opening and montage was the Something Stupid opening.
This video is absolutely perfect! You are such a talented creator and every video u create tops the last. I hope every better call Saul fan sees this
This list is pretty spot-on but I would for sure put point and shoot here. One of the most intense episodes of television ive ever watched
Yes, I was thinking about point and shoot, but also Season 1 episode 9 "Pimento"
@@teamvoldemort2145 Is this the episode where it was revealed that Chuck was the one preventing him from being hired at HHM? I loved this one as well
@@MrRavenhaven7 Yes
I prefer Plan and execution and Fun and Games, I would like to see more tension and scenes between Lalo and Gus and Lalo and Jimmy and Kim more developed but the death was at the perfect moment and it was great

9. Rock and Hard Place
8. Five-O
7. Waterworks
6. Lantern
5. Winner
4. Bagman
3. Chicanery
2. Plan and Execution
1. Point and Shoot
May I ask why Point and Shoot is your favorite? It's a great list I'm just wondering what really makes you think it's peak BCS
Point and Shoot imo was the Ozymandias for the Prequel part of BCS. The entire episode had nothing but tension, great performances, masterful cinematography, not a single scene was boring. Had me on the edge of my seat! But the scene where Mike buried Lalo and Howard together truly haunted me, and was a perfect sendoff for the prequel timeline of BCS.
Read what @nacht said. Also it is 1 the most action packed and tentioned 2 you don't know if either Kim or Lalonis going to survive unlike bagman were you know Mike and saul are surviving.
3 the acting was amazing 4 Kim and Saul's reaction to Howard's death and realising what they have done. 5 it is the payoff of the prequal era. But if you don't think its peak I respect ur opinion still ☺
@@NightwalkExtras Everything @Nacht said about Point and Shoot was perfect as to why its my number one, an absolute perfect episode, the tension, the drama, the writing, the acting, the tragedy for me personally it was peak Better Call Saul
Ironically, that would be my list too. Maybe pimento would be there too but I don't know
Solid List, would’ve loved hearing your honorable mentions. Very glad you put Lantern here, cause I feel like that episode is overlooked within the BCS community.
For me, Saul Gone is the best episode of any series I have ever seen. Every scene is packed with immense meaning and everything culminates perfectly including Jimmy’s redemption. I could not sleep that night thinking about every aspect from it.
I think what makes Plan and Execution so good is that it's basically the BCS version of Ozymandias. It's where the worlds of the lawyers and the cartel collide which completely destroys our protagonists journeys in life, setting the stage for the ensuing fallout and finale.
Wow this is a great video! You pointed out so many things I never would have connected like the way lalo twisted on the silencer being similar to howard/chuck twisting the soda cans
Glad I helped you notice that! It's amazing, the amount of detail they put into this show, it feels like you're never done peeling back the layers.
I would counter the assertion that Kim tears down Howard just for fun. I was kind of surprised when watching live just how readily and aggressively on board she was, but rewatching a supercut of "Kim Talking Truth To Men", it all really clicked for me. Yes, she has that urge for fun and games, she loves pulling cons *with* Jimmy, and she toys with death, as symbolized by the fatal Tequila stopper she keeps playing with through the final season. It all tracks thematically, but I was still missing a bit of the character motivation until watching the supercut.
It's about Chuck. Much to Jimmy's chagrin, it's seemingly always about Chuck. Specifically here, Kim disagreed with and felt bad about Chuck being torn down, and while she understands Jimmy's part in it as a wounded animal, she still doesn't like it, and Howard makes for a convenient target, since he's the one who actually forced Chuck into retirement. Jimmy set up all the dominos, but to her mind, not knowing about the Malpractice Insurance chicanery, Howard was the one who knocked them down.
Then this same man comes TO HER HOME to deliver a timebomb of a letter and explode his guilt all over the pair of them. When Kim confronts Howard about this in his office, she is truly angry and upset, for both Chuck and Jimmy. Throw in earlier times in the series where Howard belittled or ignored her, and the entire D-Day plan made so much more emotional sense to me. "Having fun" is why she didn't stop, but it's only half of the reason why she started in the first place.
[Also it's funny how that scene where Kim confronts Howard is part of what pushes him to get professional help instead of just emotion splooging on his colleagues, the revelation of his intensive therapy regimen being what convinces Jimmy to totally ignore Kim's advice to get a therapist. I love how this show can sneak its favorite cycle of self-defeat into even the smallest of plot arcs]
Your channel is really good, I'll be watching you rise through the ranks of RUclips eagerly.
Great list, Chicanery has been my #1 ever since I saw it, but Plan and Execution, Bagman, Rock and a Hard Place, and Five-O are definitely up there.
Just WOW…you are so good at this!!!!🥰beautifully articulated
Chicanery was the peak for me. The whole storyline between Chuck and Jimmy was my favorite part. I loved how compelling it was even without the usual life or death stakes of the breaking bad universe. Chuck was also a masterfully written and acted character. I believed in his performance 100% and was hooked every step of the way
Well made and on point
When I got to around number three I was thinking “Aw, Plan and Execution probably isn’t gonna be on here”
I’m pleasantly surprised to see that it’s number 1. It may be the episode that emotionally effected me the most (even though I had what happens to Howard spoiled it still hit like a truck). Lalo is so terrifying. He’s like some hellish phantom emerging from out of the darkness.
Great video! I loved all your analyses
Great comment! :)
My personal top 10 (but tbf it changes all the time):
1. Chicanery
2. Saul Gone
3. Bagman
4. Plan & Execution
5. Waterworks
6. Fun & Games
7. Point & Shoot
8. Five-O
9. Witness
10. Rock & Hard Place
Great ranking! Never thought I’d agree this much with an episode list for BCS lmao
Glad you enjoyed!
Seeing BCS getting the recognition it deserves from so many creators both big and small feels so good
I'm so glad I didn't get Howard's death spoiled like I did Hank's in BB. Unforgettable moment. Holy shit it didn't even seem real
Nice video!
I thought you sounded like nightwalk, my favourite dark souls creator and then I realised you are and you are now talking about my favourite show. Awesome!
It's a small world I suppose!
this is such a well edited and scripted video. you can make it big here on youtube!
Fantastic list with excellent explanations behind them. Almost every episode you mentioned was either also in my top 10, or were in my honorable mentions (Five-O, Waterworks, Winner, and Lantern would be 11-14 for me respectfully- yes I did make a list of all 63 episodes lol). We also have the same top three episodes. While I'll always respect other people's preferences, it's so hard for me to get over how "Plan & Execution" both artistically and context-wise takes both "Ozymandias" and "Chicanery" and fuses them together. I'll miss this show as there won't be one like it for quite some time (if ever).
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! How was making the list?
@@NightwalkExtras Much harder than I thought it would be. Some episodes I couldn't remember that well (mainly from seasons 1 & 2), so I had to refresh my memory to think carefully if I was giving an episode a ranking on how good it was or how memorable it was. While the best episodes are memorable, and for me, the most rewatchable, bad episodes also stick out as well. Plus, 63 episodes takes time. I'm pretty sure if I go back to look at the list I'd still make some minor changes. However, it taught me a lot about what I value in the show as a whole which as helpful from an audience and artistic POV. Definitely worth doing if you take the time to do it right.
I feel like plan and execution, while being a phenomenal episode (As most BCS episodes are) is mostly carried by that chilling final scene. The rest of the episode is unbelievably entertaining and allows some excellent foreshadowing, I'm not sure if it can be called the best episode of the show, simply for its outstanding final scene. While I'm not sure what episode I would place in the top spot, I do feel like SE4 EP1 'Smoke' is an underrated one as we get to see the aftermath of Chuck's death and that heart-breaking scene with Jimmy, Kim and Howard where Howard says that he believes Cuck killed himself (something we as the audience know is true, and I think deep down Jimmy knows it too) and we get to see the first extreme example of Jimmy repressing his painful emotions, something which would then play a crucial part in his transformation into Saul Goodman. In this episode we also see Gene passing out in the Cinnabon and the introduction of Jeff the cab driver. While I don't think this episode reaches the same heights as some of the other ones in this list, I do believe that its one of the best in the series and is too often overlooked. Anyway ramble over, great video looking forward to the next one.

10. Pimento. 1x09.

Thank you for the comment and fantastic insight. I'm glad you appreciated my commentary and I likewise appreciate yours. I'm definitely surprised to see that "Breaking Bad" resonated so strongly with you, but I can't disagree with almost any picks where this show is concerned.
@@NightwalkExtras Thanks a ton! Shot you a DM on Twitter in case you'd want to talk more about this show at all, or in general. Yeah "Breaking Bad" doesn't seem to get much love but in short I loved how they used the flashbacks to play off of the black and white art style, the fans' inevitable hype/conceptions about when and how Walt/Jesse would show up, and the existing themes of the series and Jimmy specifically of repeating past mistakes over and over in order to ultimately make Saul approaching Walt at all a much deeper and more relevant moment for the character -- it all came together in that fantastic transition at the end b/w Gene getting out of the car and Saul getting out of the car to show them both heading toward their doom, and I think in that moment more than in every previous episode combined BCS's existence was justified not just as a show in its own right (which was justified since, idk, Five-O or something lol) but rather as a spinoff to BrBa specifically. That scene is the one moment where I think the complex character of Jimmy we'd grown attached to and the comic relief character of Saul most started to feel like parts of the same cohesive whole rather than as distinct entities, even more imo than in episodes like Winner (which is still an outstanding ep obviously)-- eps like that set up his transformation into Saul but BrBa showed his behavior as Saul as continuous with his overall patterns and so tied it all together incredibly well from a character perspective and from an artistic one with how it played off our immediate awareness of which era a scene would be in based on its color palette etc.
Def would be down to stay in touch about this show if you're so inclined, there isn't enough content like this out there about it
Great commentary on the show. About Winner specifically, I interpreted it as Mike actually losing the race to Lalo by mere seconds, making it all the more tragic. Mike barely gets there in time for Werner to tell Lalo his name, and that he's doing a construction project, but that's enough for Gus to warrant killing him. Gus knew how insanely intelligent Lalo is, and that he would use any minor piece of evidence against him. This is paid off beautifully in season 6, when Lalo finds everything on the superlab based off Werner's name and "south wall" alone.
Winner is still one of the only episodes to choke me up every time I rewatch it with Werner's death. One of the most tragic moments in the show both for Werner being such a sweet character and Mike's descent. On top of that the opening when they show Chuck and Jimmy used to have a loving relationship, underscored with how horribly it ended is such a gut punch.
I swear this is the best written show off all time.
Great list! It's hard to rank the best episodes since there's just so many. In no particular order, my favorites are:
Five-O
Chicanery
Winner
Lantern
Bagman
Bad Choice Road
Something Unforgivable
Rock and Hard Place
Plan and Execution

Saul Gone
Bad Choice Road is a standout episode that should’ve been on the list
I honestly think the finale is my favorite episode of the show, I know some people think he should’ve just taken the 7 years, but Jimmy knew he needed to destroy his demons for himself and Kim
You do make a good point with Plan and Execution being #1, it is quintessential BCS: goofy and charming, until it isn’t
Thanks! I definitely had bad choice road in consideration but there are just so many great ones…
That was a great breakdown. I'm simply not capable of choosing like that, but I've got no argument with your choices.

Spot on list for the best tv show I’ve ever seen
I'm so wrong that my ass did not even blink by seeing Howard's death.
I like the point and shoot episode the most, its a finale for the cartel storyline, which i watched the show for, even if it clearly does have some minor plot holes, the final product is awesome. From Lalos dialogue with Jimmy and Kim to his shootout with Gus to symbolic burial of Lalo and Howard in the same grave. The cinematography is gorgeous, the acting of Rhea Seehorn, Tony Dalton and Giancarlo Esposito is emmy worty and the villain's death may not be as epic as the one in face off, but its still perfectly executed. (And Gus' momologue in the superlab is one of my favourite moments from the breaking bad universe)

What I just now realized from his final scene in BCS is just how tragic Gus’s life is. He finally gets his revenge on Don Eladio, finally giving him the peace he needs to live a normal life, only to be blown up by the final loose end.

I think Point and Shoot may be my favorite episodes but Plan and Execution and Fun and Games were all great. Fun and Games was a perfect follow up to Point and Shoot
I honestly don't think I'd put the finale in the top 10, it did what it had to wrap things up but didn't have any surprises or anything spectacular.
Chuck is probably my favourite character in the whole show. So many people call out Chuck for 'creating Saul' but completely realised that Jimmy created Chuck. I think every scene with Chuck has a deep love for Jimmy hidden beneath the spitefulness. I genuinely don't think Chuck thought he was attacking/against Jimmy, in the same way Jimmy failed to realise what he was doing to Chuck and Howard. While being complete opposites, I can't help thinking that hte two brothers mirror each other.
Unfortunately, like how everything in Chuck's life turned out, his brother won.
Bad choice road is my favourite episode in this show
what song is playing in the backround?
Can't believe you didn't put point and shoot in your top 10. Personally it's the best tv episode i have ever seen
im also shocked how he couldnt put that
Agreed, he's severely underrated Point and Shoot. Easily one of the best episodes of BCS. The tension of it is unmatched. Just the ending, with the melancholy background music from Dave Porter where Howard and Lalo get buried, with Mike looking over it, cements it as one of the greatest.
I don't blame him. There is too many quality episodes in this show. It's been months after the series finale but still I couldn’t figure out my top 10.
Rock and hard place is my number one. Nacho's arc is powerful.
Can someone tell me about every background music?

9.- Point and Shoot (6x08)
10.- Five 0 (1x06)
Wow. Waterworks above Saul gone? I’m curious why.
The best scene in the whole breaking bad universe imo is when jimmy snaps and screams at Howard after Howard confronts him about the pranks
I'd swap out Winner, Lantern, & Waterworks for Bad Choice Road, Point & Shoot, & Breaking Bad (the episode), but otherwise pretty much the same as mine
I'm surprised to see a lot of people have Breaking Bad at that top top tier. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I wouldn't have thought of it as top 10 material. Maybe it warrants a rewatch...
@@NightwalkExtras Schnauz's directing on that one is on par with any other episode; cuts between scenes in that one are probably the best of all the episodes - crazy attention to detail like cuts between "doors with duct tape on them". Admittedly the whole "Gene" plotline is... well... at least not the fault of that particular episode :/
I loved this show, probably my favourite of all time.
My favourite seasons probably go like this:
Season 6
Season 5
Season 3
Season 1
Season 4
Season 2
Great list, I am gonna do a season ranking at some point too. Love your picks!
My ranking of the seasons from best to worst should be like this:
Season 6
Season 5
Season 3
Season 1
Season 2
Season 4
Actually it's pretty much the same lol
Why do peoplel dislike season 4 it has hands down one of the best episodes s04e10 Winner...come on man. Winner takes it all.
@@beverleygray4219 I don't dislike it, I simply think that all the other seasons have something more to them
@@beverleygray4219 Like the other guy said,i don’t dislike it,i simply prefer the other 4 seasons, but it’s much better than the 2nd one
completely agree with the decisions to not have episodes like Bad Choice Road and Point and Shoot, episodes the majority of the fandom would include. to me every other episode listed here is more impactful. great list, but no NIPPY JUSTICE
I'm not a massive fan of Nippy personally, as it really did halt the pacing of the show for me. It wasn't a bad episode by any means.
I also am sure Point and Shoot is great, but it's just more action and less character and intricate character work, which is what I'm a fan of. That and Bad Choice Road almost made the cut, but not quite. I think they're both fantastic episodes but I think the others are just a bit better.
How have you only got less than 50k subs wtf ?
I have 3 RUclips channels and I don't even have 50 k combined between all of them!
@@NightwalkExtras you should !
Episodes that impacted me most were: five-O,chicanery,winner,bagman,rock and hard place, plan and execution, point and shoot, saul gone
Truly one of the greatest shows ever.
Says something about the shows quality when saying 5/10 of its best episodes are in the last season is a standard opinion. I would have included Point and Shoot as well
Plan and execution was good Howard’s death lingered around me for days. I was shocked and sad and felt like he didn’t deserve it. I loved lalo but after that I was hoping Gus kept him alive and the south wall fly theory happened lol. My favorite episode was Bagman tho.
10. Breaking Bad

8. Five O
7. Bad choice Road
