That "opinion" will annoy them because you are the bigger man by giving them a fair review. Great work and professional as always. Love your videos bruh
Tried it, bought it. As a 11 handicap golfer, I've seen a few yards improvement (6-10 yds better than my Aeroburner) in average distance after about 6 rounds. I seem to be hitting more fairways and have fewer big misses left and right. It just seems more consistent and my GameGolf stats also confirm this after a limited trial. I should add that this club was purchased at a golf store where I received some advice on my swing and was "fitted", though its a stock 10.5 deg driver with a regular shaft so there were no customized adjustments to the driver. Minor improvements in consistency and distance could be due to improved skill and conditioning this season, but whatever, I am enjoying playing the M4.
Your "opinion" is much appreciated Mark. As always, your review was fair, well thought out and professionally presented, with just a touch of well earned sarcasm directed at the TM marketing department.
Went for a fitting last week, tried a few different manufacturers but M4 came out by far best on test. I'm not seeing huge differences in "twist face" but I was hitting it loads straighter than my current SLDR, which was to be expected. But as a 14 handicapper, who loses most of my shots due to irrattic tee shots, I feel this is gonna help loads. Plus 111mph club head and 167mph ball speed has got to be good!
Another honest review. Gave credit where it was due, questioned the marketing spiel. As you do in all your reviews! Don’t know what their problem is really.
Golf marketing is ridiculous. I love the fact that you understand this, and aren’t afraid to say so. Thanks for being you, bruh. Maybe the old twisty face could help Raymondo or Blockey? Nah, gonna take some real gamechanging tech for those two!
Credit where it's due. You could of absolutely slated that driver but once again a fair and honest review. What were TM so bothered about 🤔? If anything most people having watched that would be more inclined to go and test it for themselves!!
That first shot with the ball disappearing into the cloud was brilliant. Another great review. I'm still hitting fairways with my 2016 M2...changed my game!
Valid point on the tolerances. The retail drivers can be +/-1 from the advertised loft so I am doubtful they can get the high toe and low heel within +/-0.5 unless their QC department is working overtime.
There's a reason cobra was using "twist face" before TM and didn't use it for marketing, it doesn't work. And if it does its going to be in a very limited set of circumstances.
I just bought the M4. Played a few rounds last week. No idea what twistface is doing BUT..I got fitted for a Titliest D2 and a Ping G400 and they all go the same distance on centred hits BUT dispersion on the M4 was remarkable. Like I mean rock my world hitting fairways. Is it the tech or me, who cares. Love the club. Great driver. Good review mark. You need to get fitted for them all, play a round or two with a demo club then sit back and review what worked best and consistently before parting with your hard earned money
Am surprised the TM special operations commandos didn't descend on Torquay GC or Dawlish Warren, demaning the immediate return of the club! Has this gotten Dan into trouble? Hope not!
At 7:20 with an out to in path and a open club face it produced a draw spin rather than a fade. Do you think the twist helped the roll and bulge at all. Perhaps there'd have been less draw?, and it made the miss worse?!
An honest opinion piece - well done, Mark. I tested the TM M4 recently, having decided to move on from my Titleist 915 D2. I also tested the 917 D2, 917 D3, Ping G400 & G400 Max, Callaway Rogue, Rogue Draw and Rogue Sub Zero. TM M4 was fine - looks and sounds good, numbers were fine. As I wasn't striking particularly well on that day I went back a few days and hit a few of these again. With a middling swing speed (c.95mph) - and somewhat erratic strike that typically delivers too much spin - I was somewhat surprised that the Rogue SZ was the best fit for me, as lowest spin meant that carry was c.10-15yds better than most of the others. So, as you always say brah, test different clubs, have a fitting - and take lessons. It has certainly worked for me :-)
I tested the M2 against the M4 and ended up buying the M2. I hit it better on the launch monitor, and it was about $200 cheaper. I absolutley love my M2! Best driver Ive ever owned, period. Great video Mark as always. Cheers homie🏌🏻♂️⛳🖖
Said the same about the 80s look reminds me of the film Tron very retro and that's good thing. I still use R15 and it helped me shoot 81 today after 6 months off with a broken back 😉😉 Taylormade really need to chill out and give you clubs to review always honest and have been for ten years!! Good work bruh!!
Having recently come back to golf following a 27 year absence (I'm only 42) ... I know who will be getting my hard earned when I do decide to get a new set of clubs. I'm old enough to see through the bullshit so I won't be sold on flashy promises made to sell clubs. Really love the Titleist vlogs you been putting out recently, those guys seem to want people to stay with them for life, not just till the hype goes from the latest marketing fad. Keep up the good work Sir.
I game the SLDR (after watching your reviews years ago) with Aldila Rogue shaft. I've tested all the new clubs from all brands in hope that I can gain yards / accuracy however nothing comes close to it for me. I hit slightly down on my driver and SLDR is the only one which keeps the spin numbers down. Unless something is released which gives me real gains, I will stick with it forever!
Another good opinion bra. I have the 2016 & 2017 M1 drivers, after hitting both I still believe in my opinion the 2016 M1 driver is the best they've built in this series. Bare in mind that due to COR testing which has been around since the early 2000's all gains will be minimal. I like & I use roll & bulge, I don't like the look of the new M3 or M4 so I won't be changing to twist face anytime soon.
Good review mark. I tested it but found it sat a bit closed at address and I was getting a lot of left shots with it loved the noise and feel and thought it was good driver. I tried the m2 as well and found it suited me a lot better. Ended up buying the m2 and very happy with it
I think TaylorMade owe you an apology. Fair and honest review. Twist face looks like a gimmick to me but that’s just my opinion. I’ll be sticking with my 7.5 degree mizuno driver. TaylorMade do make great clubs, I think your saying that you agree with that. Hopefully they keep doing this and give me a reason to give up my shiny blue mizuno.
Finally you got your hands on one. Great review as always. Good to see that the week at TPI didn’t wean you off Ricky Dinks either. But I did expect you to use JJ’s foot stomp technique.
I bought an M4 driver recently and I am very happy with it in fact it’s probably the best driver I have ever had. I don’t think that many people buy it on the basis of the twist face technology they buy it because it’s a brilliant club and I think the best available at the moment.
Mark i have mine in the bag as you say i saw very little actual difference apart from i found my bad strikes still did very well on the distance. and liked the fact it looks to sit open at address which makes me feel like I'm not going to miss left this was the reason i purchased
The TM fitting rep said that twist face doesn’t show up on the indoor testing. However. I swapped my Epic SZ with ADI orange 6x for it with a Kuro kage tini X6. 120 SS 2500 spin.. What I did find was I’m better able to control or increase fade/draw. I do not think this club is meant for Fade bias swings. The open toe/ de lofted heel would result in more fade.
For club reviews, all I'm looking for is for someone to tell me whether it is crap or not. If it is crap, I won't waste my time when it is time for new clubs. Of those that are left, I'll go get a fitting, hit them and feel how I like them. I'm not the greatest golfer so I understand that I am the issue most of the time. I just need reliable clubs that feel good when they are struck well to give me that feedback that I grooved that swing. The only thing game changing for me would be if I was to take the improvement from lessons out on the course with me and I haven't seen a club yet that can do that.
Thanks for your opinion Mark, Game changer; never i've tried it and so have a lot of people and no one has said oh my god twistmyface is the answer to all my troubles. Custom shop might be tho eh? :)
I tested this and the Callaway fusion driver after watching your review on the fusion and I was hitting the fusion way better 16 handicapper and first round with the fusion in the bag shot an 11 over and hit most the fairways ! thanks for the info ! brilliant reviews as always !
Totally fair review. As with any manufacturer...to claim a product as being “game changing” will rightly welcome skepticism. That being said, this review remains fair and honest. Top vid 👌
Great review Mark, l tested 4 drivers all recent releases. They all produced similar results, nothing much in it at all. The M4 in my opinion and to my eye looked the best at the ball . The deal cliincher was the price , £100 less than the rogue which was also very impressive. Got fitted , bought it , loving it , for now. Average golfer playing off 12.
To set the scene, about two weeks ago I played with a pro in a members' competition. He is quite a long, high hitter who played well (under par) using a twist face. The flight of the ball was uncannily like the classic self-correcting s-shape (if viewed from above) of the old Maxfli DDH golf balls that were popular in the 1980's. Very interesting.
Oh, Custom Shop! Great video. I know you have been critical of club marketing, especially of TM, how would you market TM clubs given today’s marketing and this driver’s performance? All the manufacturers’ marketing departments are taking some liberties, but should it really be “we are making the best clubs possible that will be even better for you with great instruction and practice.”?
My buddy just bought and new M2 on sale for $299.00. I can still hit it with him or past him with my TaylorMade Jet Speed that I got from their preowned site for $90.00 Three yrs ago. Hype all is Hype. thanks for another great real world test. I don't know if you know it but you've got Rick Shiels doing real world tests. Personally I think hitting golf balls off of a matt is a waste of time. what do you think? you can hit it a little fat of a matt and still get good results. Hit it fat in the real world and you come up short just like you did today.
Excellent and fair review. Tried the M4. It’s a decent club but just wasn’t for me. I got better results from both the Ping G400 and the G400 Max and so went with the G400. First Ping club I’ve ever put in the bag.
Hello Mark thanks for this video. I just had the opportunity to be a tester for this club. I tried it for about 30 days and played 6 courses here in the Carolinas. To answer your question about could I game the driver I say no. I had the chance to keep the club but gave it back. I liked the look of the club however I felt way more comfortable with my previous driver and did not feel the technology was “game changing “ enough or at all in order for me to switch.
The thing that seems to get bashed with the m3/m4 is TM’s marketing (which is ridiculous imo), not the performance or test results of these drivers. Mark’s review was consistent with this. Mark did not mention that twist face ever hurt his drive, only that it did not help it in a noticeable way....just a curious observation. Another good driver from TM.
Nice video. Tried one myself and found every shot went slightly right, could not get it straight at all. Switched to g400 and all went straight or left. Back to m4 and back to going right each time. Was very odd!
Well Mark, I got one , for me it out performed all the others after a fitting ,gave me an extra 20 yards and good dispersion over my previous XR16 driver , Liked the look , liked the feel and sound, loving your honest reviews and format I’m a 65 year old 20 handicapper who can on occasions shoot mid seventies ( just inconsistent , really need to improve my chipping ) Playing Titleist AP3 irons 4-PW , SM7 wedges , Titleist H1 rescue , M4 3wood and driver targeting getting to low teens this year
I honestly like how the m1 frames the ball at address more... the grey and little cut out doesn't look as good at address to me... did you notice that also?
Hi mark i totally agree with what you are saying about taylormade make excellent clubs my only problem is with them is that they make too many of them in the next 6 months will be another driver out saying it will improve you again... Thats what i like about titleist when i have the money id like to more to them next but would be getting fitted before i make a final decision.. keep up the good work
And why wouldn't they give you one to test originally? A good review, like a few other Indy ones I've seen, can't fault it, but game changer - I don't think so! 0.5 degree change, ain't going to reduce my 12.8 handicap. Back to the range........ oh well, here's looking forward to M5 and M6 soon!
Just gamed one today for 18 holes, man was I crushing it...and straight! I normally use the 2016 M2 and the difference in feel, sound and aesthetics in the M4 are pretty game changing for me, at least. I feel my misses to the right we not nearly as dramatic as with the M2. I don't think I'll ever go back. I love the M4 so far but need to play more with it! Edit: I'm a 7 HCP so I'm a decently skilled player, for anybody who may think that validates one's opinion/review...
I have tested the M4 Mark. For me the feel on both center and off center hits was good. I tested the the 10.5 loft with the Tensei mid launch shaft. With this combo I did not maximize carry and roll for me. I did not have time to test a 9.5 with a high launch shaft. I like the ball to roll a bit. The same time I tested the G400 Max with much better numbers except sound and feel. People have told me that on the Titlelist drivers you can adjust lie angle. Is this true. I’m finding modern drivers are to upright (on purpose). I miss the old days.
When talking about tilerances of this kind it would be interesting to know the accuracy in the dryball data. To what tolerance can these type of equipment measure?
Good on you Mark. I'm with you on the marketing messages. Thanks to the real relevance of your reviews for the 99.9% majority of golfers, we are all more informed and therefore take the marketing messages (eg gamechanging) with a pinch of salt.
Yet another unbiased and enjoyable review. I think this is a great looking club, but then so is the Ping the Callaway and the Titleist. So, win win for the consumer in my book.
Wicked review as per usual Mark, my TM M4 is arriving on Wednesday an I can’t wait it I never got on with TM drivers before an when I was testing/being fit it wasn’t the longest by far but it did bring my dispersion in Maybe it was a mental thing but like you says golfs hard so take everything you can get Keep up the good work
Tested them as well as other 2018 driver models. Great dry ball data and felt great. Average 220 carry spinning around 2200. Rouge performed a bit better for me. None of them performed well enough replace what I’m gaming which is a Nike Vapor Speed. Hit it while testing new equipment. Still hit the Nike Vapor average 220 carry spinning around 2400. Just goes to show that there’s a club for everyone. Doesn’t matter what’s on the head. Your numbers where a bit lower with the club I game. Doesn’t mean it’s not a good club, but just not for you. I know a lot of weekend worriers would do good to test and find the right club for them and not worry about what’s on the face or if it’s twisted or not.
Great video. I think the most relevant comment you made is that you would need to see over a whole season if the half degree helps you hit more fairways.
Pretty fair comments dont see their issue. I hit a few shots with the M3. Would need to do more work with it but i felt it was a tad straighter but flew a little lower than my epic i felt from hitting about 10shots.
Pretty reasonable review. TaylorMade make great drivers... I've no idea what they were afraid of?! Personally I'm using a 2017 M2 driver and see no need to upgrade for another 10-15 years at least, there's only so much manufacturers can do with a lump of metal!
Good review Mark. Im confused on one part though. You say gear effect happens on drivers because the CG is further back. Doesnt the further back CG stabalize the Head more on misshits, therefore reducing gear effect?
I’ll be testing m4, g400 max, rogue and cobra f8 Friday? 7 handicap swing about 100mph, hit down slightly so tend to spin it a bit too much I think Predictions which one I’ll end up with? I think g400 max with shorter tour shaft
Cornwall1888 I get a lot of spin too and just picked up the Rogue Sub Zero with the even flow stiff shaft, love it so far 2 rounds in. Spin is down around 2000 with swing speed of 105-110 think it’s going to be in the bag for some time
Nice review- Played all the R7's, R9's R11's..... r9 Super DEEP B, hands down hottest face- best fit or me! r7 Quad changed the game of golf! Sergio and Reteif had them in there bag for awhile! Greens are running about 8-9? Should have at least 8 one putts? Pretty course-
Is it possible to get access to a modern driver with no roll and bulge? I’d love to see the dry data. I’d also be interested whether a custom roll and bulge for a specific player, built around their strike patterns, would make any noticeable difference in trajectory? Has any company made a club from scratch for one player, their colour preference, shaft flex and length, head size, weighting, face shape.. surely we aren’t far away from tour players getting fit down to the last detail for every club in the bag.
A good impartial review of TM M4 and their new Technology. Driver technology for the past ten years has been maxed out with the thinnest faces possible, movable weight, adjustable loft and lie necks and specialty shaft options. Twist Face is a ground breaking in its concept but they are adjusting the X and Y Axis by opening up the toe 1/2 degree and essentially closing heel by a 1/2 degree to funnel the face strike back to center. That is great in theory but, TM has always marketed their clubs to the golfer as technology that is ground breaking. All manufacturers say the same thing about their products too, and one club is not going to be that much different then the other. If you really want to get improve get fitted and find what works for you and don't get taken in by all the fancy promises.
Hello mark last year I was using cobra amp cells had them for 8 year then one of the lads I play golf with had m2 D-type driver he didn’t like it so I got it off him I had a big slice with me old driver his one had stiff shaft and sorted it out so went for m2 irons like them got they have been stolen now so don’t no what clubs to go for I play off 18 and want to improve and get down to 13 this year I no I have to get fitted again
I have tested so many driver to try and replace my old driver which is 4 years old. I have yet to find a driver that does any better then the driver I have in the bag. All of my testing has been with fitters.
I tested this club on its launch and it did feel great. However I found it almost impossible to shape it, every shot stayed on its line. That is a good thing if you want to straighten your drives. After a fitting I decided to keep with my 2017 M2.
If the m3/m4 give someone confidence because that person thinks it is "game changing" and going to help them hit more fairways - i am all for that mental boost. The statement may not be 100% correct in all aspects, but it has certainly changed the game of some people i know - some of whom were lacking confidence with the big stick and some who are +handicap who want to feel like this club would lessen their one-sided miss. Thoughts?
Custom! Spot on review. It's good yes but it can't promise you the world it's still up to the player. Great testing on Dawlish loved that course cheers
I truly enjoy watching your vids Mark. I also love the message you give, "You need to try this club for yourself". That has always been your message and I admire that. That is why I value your opinion cause there is only one agenda and that is to entertain the followers
That "opinion" will annoy them because you are the bigger man by giving them a fair review. Great work and professional as always. Love your videos bruh

Your "opinion" is much appreciated Mark. As always, your review was fair, well thought out and professionally presented, with just a touch of well earned sarcasm directed at the TM marketing department.
Best explanation yet of the Twistface tech I've seen. Maybe TM should hire you to be their rep. I kid, I kid!
Ummm... I thought you were sponsored by Titleist? This seems like a very fair review... I'm confused.
Went for a fitting last week, tried a few different manufacturers but M4 came out by far best on test. I still think they missed a trick not calling it Twisty McTwistface.
But me and Licorice saw the last of them one

Hi Becky sorry about that and I have to go settle in

Steven Stewart the goal should still be to hit it out of the middle. It’s an insurance policy on the heel and toe

9:57 two-stroke penalty 17-3 striking the flagstick - Sorry Mark nice 6. Great video!
B1ue Lobster but mark is a modern rules guy lol ;-)
At 7:20 with an out to in path and a open club face it produced a draw spin rather than a fade. Do you think the twist helped the roll and bulge at all. Perhaps there'd have been less draw?, and it made the miss worse?!
I love my m4. Don’t really see any improvement with twistface but is a great performing driver none the less. Much like you said in the video.
Fair play for the honest review, TM do make good clubs but I hope they change their views in the future

2016 M2's are selling for $200 brand new in the plastic on ebay.
KJ Adams got one!
Great review Mark. I can see why a company would want to sponsor you, not just Titleist. Keep up the great work. -John in South Dakota, USA
Very honest review , I have purchased this driver not because of Taylormade but because of one thing “FEEL” love it brahhhh
Fair balance review, have watched another reviewer who was less sure about how they could hit the shots they wanted using twist face. Well done
I game the SLDR (after watching your reviews years ago) with Aldila Rogue shaft. I've tested all the new clubs from all brands in hope that I can gain yards / accuracy however nothing comes close to it for me. Tested it at work and have to say it looks and feels good but doesn’t take my epic out of the bag :) great vid !!!
What were they so afraid of?if anything you just sold them some more clubs
Great review Mark. You are as consistent a reviewer as you are a ball striker...and as consistent as the top club manufacturers.
I bought an M4 driver recently and I am very happy with it in fact it’s probably the best driver I have ever had. I don’t think that many people buy it on the basis of the twist face technology they buy it because it’s a brilliant club and I think the best available at the moment.
These vlogs keep getting better and better! The Drone shots are just the cherry on top!!!

Quality driver and even bettter quality Crossfield delivery. Drivers are just staying the same. Player delivery will always beat new technology.
Totally fair review. As with any manufacturer...to claim a product as being “game changing” will rightly welcome skepticism. That being said, this review remains fair and honest. Top vid 👌
Tried it , bought it , game it . Sounds great , gives you confidence.
Good review, sounds pretty spot on. Nice to see no biased ‘opinions’
I’m really missing the course vlogs.
And the match plays with pro’s.
It won’t hurt more help as it’s not really much of a thing in my opinion
i personally love the twist face on the m4 it helps a lot with me hitting slices having my shots be more consitent
Great vid as always
Nice video. Tried one myself and found every shot went slightly right, could not get it straight at all. Switched to g400 and all went straight or left. Back to m4 and back to going right each time. Was very odd!
Well Mark, I got one , for me it out performed all the others after a fitting ,gave me an extra 20 yards and good dispersion over my previous XR16 driver ,
Liked the look , liked the feel and sound, loving your honest reviews and format
I’m a 65 year old 20 handicapper who can on occasions shoot mid seventies ( just inconsistent , really need to improve my chipping )
Playing Titleist AP3 irons 4-PW , SM7 wedges , Titleist H1 rescue , M4 3wood and driver targeting getting to low teens this year
In my OPINION, that was a fair review, #customshop. Wouldn't be a vlog without the name drop.
I honestly like how the m1 frames the ball at address more... the grey and little cut out doesn't look as good at address to me... did you notice that also?
I'm a Taylormade fan. I tried the M4, but I prefer the look...feel...sound of my 2016 M2. My personal feeling. Great video Mark. Thank you!!
Hi mark i totally agree with what you are saying about taylormade make excellent clubs my only problem is with them is that they make too many of them in the next 6 months will be another driver out saying it will improve you again... Thats what i like about titleist when i have the money id like to more to them next but would be getting fitted before i make a final decision.. keep up the good work
Would be very interested to see how it performs with Rory at the other end.
Great to see a good, honest , unbiased, not tm paid for review 😄
I see why they HATE ME! Open honest review, letting the numbers and game ability speak for itself; even a complimentary. Awesome VLOG!
When talking about tilerances of this kind it would be interesting to know the accuracy in the dryball data. To what tolerance can these type of equipment measure?
What is the exact Song of Ryan little on 00:45, I'm getting tired searching it for hours...
Good on you Mark. I'm with you on the marketing messages. Thanks to the real relevance of your reviews for the 99.9% majority of golfers, we are all more informed and therefore take the marketing messages (eg gamechanging) with a pinch of salt.
The sound off the face is really nice but the blue mizuno looks best to me, great review cheers bruh
Would like to see if the twist could manage to keep a blockey or a raymondo still on the planet......
One of my favourite reviews Mark, very informative and unbiased. Also, I have tried this driver and I could game it for sure.
Yet another unbiased and enjoyable review.
I think this is a great looking club, but then so is the Ping the Callaway and the Titleist. So, win win for the consumer in my book.
Hi Mark,
Awesome review mate! I have followed you for a long time now because of your honest opinion. Keep up the good work.
Mark you are the best golf journalist out there -- and the funniest.
Wicked review as per usual Mark, my TM M4 is arriving on Wednesday an I can’t wait it
I never got on with TM drivers before an when I was testing/being fit it wasn’t the longest by far but it did bring my dispersion in
Maybe it was a mental thing but like you says golfs hard so take everything you can get
Keep up the good work
My opinion you done an honest review. No need to change from 2016 M2 or G30 Lstec.
Just now able to get a 910d2. I'll check one of these in about eight years and let you know.
Great video. I think the most relevant comment you made is that you would need to see over a whole season if the half degree helps you hit more fairways.
Good fair review. In your opinion would you use this TM over the Epic??
I think they mean it’s a game changer at the bank, rather than the course. In my opinion of course. 🙉
I see the new 23 Degree Titleist 'rinky' made it into the bag and did its job on the approach shot
I’ll be testing m4, g400 max, rogue and cobra f8 Friday?
7 handicap swing about 100mph, hit down slightly so tend to spin it a bit too much I think
Predictions which one I’ll end up with?
I think g400 max with shorter tour shaft
Cornwall1888 I get a lot of spin too and just picked up the Rogue Sub Zero with the even flow stiff shaft, love it so far 2 rounds in. Spin is down around 2000 with swing speed of 105-110 think it’s going to be in the bag for some time
You sound to have similar stats to me. SLDR beats everything for me. Let me know which you go for!
Thoughts?
Tried the M3. It wasn’t as straight at the mizuno ST180 and shockingly it wasn’t as long either...good fair review though. Always enjoy them 😄
