In a perfect world, Matt Gourley and Matt Mira (both hosts of the James Bonding Podcast) would have a large part in the making of the next Bond film. It would somehow be a perfectly executed mixture of the fun ridiculous campiness from the older Roger Moore era Bonds, with a bit of the gritty realism from the recent ones. I'm thinking maybe Matt Berry as James Bond. Conan would make the theme song - no silly singing voices or anything insincere, just a genuine Bond theme written and performed by Conan that would make Jeff Goldblum proud.
I love this podcast. Sona does an outstanding job. I became a fan of hers from your network show. She brings so much to the team and you two are excellent partners. Matt, Sona and You have the best podcast. It's just wonderful. It looks like you are having such a great time and I laugh my butt off every show. Thanks.
Radiohead's Bond theme might not have been the best fit for the film, but it actually was a beautiful song. It wasn't just beep boops and sound effects.
Cool idea but I believe I heard somewhere that all bond songs have to be made for the movie as the producers always want to be in contention for best original song at the oscars
😂 if you got to 42 min into Quantum of Solace it’s literally James watching the opera with a man running up the stairs to fight him (or hand him the missing page script)
I’m not sure what year it was but Brian Wilson also wrote a Bond Song that was rejected. He eventually released it as a single in 2017 called Run James Run.
Conan and Matt had to pretend like they didn't just mere minutes ago have the same exact conversation about the rejected bond theme songs and how to play the quiz, yet played it off as if they had actually waited until the next episode to continue with the quiz. The betrayal is real! 🥺😆
It was gratifying to hear Matt say the Keyes / White theme song was good. I really like it as well, but it seems a lot of Bond fans hate it. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but this song seems more divisive than most.
The "rejected" Quantum of Solace: ruclips.net/video/6Z8OKU48xMw/видео.html The "rejected" Man with the Golden Gun: ruclips.net/video/wMKPTSE14tY/видео.html
I think the Radiohead issue was that they first sent an already written song (not for the movie) and the studio somehow learned that and rejected it, and by the time they did a new song for the movie it was like "nope, lost your chance, Sam Smith already did his homework and you're late".
Conan should be the villain in the next Bond film. With that nearly translucent body and the hair… James Bond and the Red Head Rising or James Bond, Pull My Finger. James Bond the Spy Who Giggled.
I don’t usually encounter a emergency meat loaf situation. “Thank god the meatloaf is here. It came just in time.” Meatloaf plane parachutes meatloaf on the front lines of battle
There is a big hook in Radiohead's Spectre. I think it is one of the best songs of Radiohead's career and would have been one of the best Bond themes. Certainly way better than anything we've seen this Century from a Bond theme.
@@verbageddon Agree with everything apart from 'one of the best songs of Radiohead's career'. (It's a long and incredible career) If Their song had been chosen, I suspect it would have been a future classic as opposed to "Sam who?"
Quantum of Solace(2008) is really underrated. Although the story is simplistic and grounded, I thought it worked well. The thing really that works is Bond's character progression from Casino Royale(2006) and how he copes with Vesper's death. Daniel Craig was great in the movie and made Bond's rage believable. The only negative for me was the cinematography which was really fast-paced and choppy. I get that it was a stylistic choice but it just didn't work. Also, if you have an actor who can do most of his own stunts, you should take advantage of that and shoot the scenes from a wide angle.
Really? You like QoS? That is pretty bold. I really liked the opening chase sequence and the ending when he confronts the man that turned Vesper but everything in between was mediocre at best imho. But hey, too each his own.
1:27 I'm a huge Radiohead fan and this ended me 🤣🤣 too true. But Conan should do his research: the song is called "Suspirium" and it's awesome, better than the one they ended up using (some Sam Smith nonsense).
The song was spectre, suspirium was a thom Yorke solo project for the movie suspirium if I'm not wrong. Also before spectre Radiohead submitted man of war but it was rejected because it was not made specifically for the film
Might be early for meatloaf but never too late for some awesome fried fish, Party,Paul Party sir with the code number 009, special agent, with my best.
I've seen Radiohead perform in concert..... they ended their set just leaving their instruments plugged in as they walked off. It's neat idea, but it'd be terrible for a bond film.
I know how much Conan likes to be corrected, so here's my present to him. The second vowel in 'arcana' is not pronounced [a] as in 'cat,' it's [ei] as in 'cake.' Extra points (deducted) for emphasizing the wrong pronunciation.
I love Meatloaf…. Both the person and the food. But I can’t imagine where anyone would take Meatloaf seriously as a Bond song. But if he did it, I think it would be good because he was a master at those high notes. I’m a bunch of contradictions today.
I love how Gourley ignores the banter and ribbing because he is so focused on proceeding to BOND FACTS!
That guy should cohost a James Bond podcast. Perhaps where he Bonds with another James Bond lover. If only there was a good name...

Exactly. The interviews are great but this is the thing
I can't wait for Conan's original composition, The Man with the Golden Meatloaf.
That tried and true advice: "Don't let your meat loaf"
I appreciate this trivia. This deserves a part 3
lol I thought that 'good for you' was very genuine but Sona's reaction was great
It's gotten to the point where there's nothing he can say that she won't hear malice in. Which is probably exactly as he planned it.
“We’re Bleeding Viewers” would be a great title for next Bond song. The opening credit sequence would also be amazing.

If "Spectre" by Radiohead were an official Bond theme, it would be the best Bond theme.

I played the Radiohead song once and I was suddenly signed on to America Online
Yeah it’s actually pretty tame for a Radiohead song
