This theme fits perfectly as you traverse the ruins of Orr, discovering and learning about this once magnificent kingdom and the folly that led to its downfall and ultimately, the dark fate that consumed it. It is a pitiful sight when you come across an undead farmer still tilling the soil even though the purpose for doing so is long since gone. No wonder they sometimes exclaim "So tired..." when you kill them.
I love your observation brother. I still find this portrayal of human suffering to nebe underrated. Base gw 2 has a beautifully tragic story when you fully understand itm
Amazing piece of music. Captures the essence of the once mighty and beautiful Kingdom of Orr, now a festering, ruined wasteland where only the dead roam and Zhaitan reigns.
Your journey is nearing its end. All your efforts are finally coming to fruition. You're close to the final battle. Your journey brings you to something old, ancient even, a place that once held great power or significance, an old shrine,to a long-forgotten god of great power, or the ruins of an ancient city in which the gods themselves once tread. There is little left, but what is left is still awe-inspiring, humbling.
I finally found it I hated Orr as I went through it, but now, as I return, brought back on a quest to ease the soul of a lost friend, I realized I missed this theme
This is where the dark and mysterious character would reveal his true form or his story, going back ages ago, to when the conflict first formed. This is where the origins of so many mysteries are learned, where so much hidden knowledge is found. This is where the story of the great evil that threatens the land is discovered, and this is where the key to ending the threat once and for all is truly learned. That's the scenario that forms in my head when I listen to this, at least.
I'm really curious about the Gods role in GW2. They are kinda mysterious and we never seen much screentime from them aside from Kormir, Balthazar, and Abadon. What are they? Are they really immortals? Where did they get their power? Why did they leave Tyria from the Dragons? What's their connection with the void?
The do know some stuff about the human gods. As far as we know from lore the gods brought the humans to Tyria from a distant place. And they are not immortal. We killed Balthazar in Guild Wars 2 and we killed Abaddon in Guild Wars Nightfall. In Nightfall we also set up Kormir as a new god to replace Abaddon, taking up abaddons essence effectively. The reason why we never replaced Balthazar was because Kralkatorrik absorbed the powers of the god of war and fire and therefore, with that logic, "became" the new god of war and fire. As funny as this sounds. We also know that the gods did leave Tyria behind because of the Dragons. And that there were two gods at least who gave some effort to fight the dragons or to change Tyria "for the better". Abaddon gave the mortal races magic and was because of his schemes imprisoned and killed in GW1 many years after his imprisonment. Balthazar however also didnt want to let go off the people and the world, so he went on trying to slay the dragons on his own ways. Which he got a chance to during GW2. Although he never really killed an elder dragon. But he tried nonetheless. Balthazar also got imprisoned and got released thanks to his interactions with our best kitten, Brimstone. The gods sought to bring humanity on a world where they could thrive on. And they figured Tyria was this garden eden for humanity to live. But they eventually figured out about the elder dragons, their life cycle and the overall cycle of the world. The elder dragons had a purpose in Tyria: They absorbed every 10.000 years all magic from the planet as the world kept on overflowing with magical energies. The dragons were a response to the world ripping itself apart technically speaking. For the gods killing the dragons was the same as destroying the world. And instead of taking the humans with them to seek out a new world to settle they only abandoned them. Except of the aforementioned Abaddon who gave magic to the people and Balthazar who wanted to wage war against the Dragons as he, at least in the beginning, did care more about the mortals than the other gods who became indifferent.

Or "Rest.....at last...."

I love how they use this soundtrack in Lions Arch on Halloween. Certainly makes it more spooky.

This song feels like all of your dead ancestors calling on you
Probably the best Non-Combative song in the game.
i spent hours looking for this and it was worth it, it's the best song on the soundtrack for me hands down

You know what they say... "Death... good."
Yeah cause the undead are longing for rest
Soule is an absolute genius. The game OST was never the same without him.
i love orr in Guild Wars 2
Awesome tune!
so beautiful
I've been trying to trigger this one for days around Orr. But it never wants to work unless some major shit goes down :( So I found this!
Or it's like being in the presence of something astonishing, something big and intimidating, like a foe or a structure
has anyone recored the combat music when you capture the gates of arah with the pact in open world mode or know what it is titled?
Similar to tracks played in Desolation in GW:Nightfall
That would seem more accurate, as when slain, they make comments about their release.
You have described... you know... Orr;)
Rise of the Tomb Raider feelings
Orr is such a shit area, but this track is amazing.
