    I've had an under the seat sub for about a year now, and with some tuning and EQ modification it sounds so good. I can get a good rumble and bass feel when I need it. Makes long road trips so much more fun and have gotten nothing but compliments from my friends. Plus the space saving is no joke.

    150w RMS isn't bad just to add some deep end to a stock system. That could actually be a decent addition for midbass.

    • @JasonWW2000

      A lot of these companies exaggerate the power figures. It could be a 100 or even 50 watts RMS.

      thats also what i thought about
      could be a good way to get midbass going if you have a sub in the rear thats cut off at 60 hz or similar

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 6 месяцев назад +1

      The big rear subwoofer in my Navigator rolls off above 45 hz due to the interior size and cancellation so I added a front sub.
      I tried a powered Rockville 8" underseat enclosure. I measured the response using an acoustical RTA with the enclosure under the passenger seat, under the 2nd row seat and in the passenger footwell.
      The footwell gave an extra 6dB across 50hz-80hz compared to under the seat. So the footwell is the best location, but can be in the way. Under the seat is more practical, but you need more cone area and/or power to get the same output levels.
      PS, that Rockville was rated at 100 watts (400 peak), but it only put out around 60w.

    I recently put a Kicker Hideaway in the footwell of my S2000. With it being a 2dr convertible and only 2 x 6 1/2 speakers in the door, I needed something that didn’t take up space. Man, I was really impressed. No it’s not brain shaking performance, but it is so much better than what I had. Now I’m looking at putting one into my 2023 Integra. With that being a hatchback, I should have a bit of db gain out of it as well. These little units are impressive for what they are and their costs.

    These pieces definitely have their place. I've sold them to customers who aren't willing to spend a lot of money, that like how their stock system sounds, but want to add just a little extra bass. They don't have to buy a separate enclosure, sub, amp, line level converter, and amp kit. One product and their vehicle remains relatively unmodified. You have to temper expectations and if you do so most people are ecstatic.

      @DGinNC 4 месяца назад +1

      @@peanutheadrules Honestly if you have a bose system and it's not doing it for you, this type of product might not be for you.
      Bose systems generally have pretty good low end. If you're looking for something a little more, likely your Bose system is aging, or you're expecting something it can't deliver.
      A small 10" sub and 500 watt amp will probably give you what you're looking for and not consume your entire trunk or cargo area.

    I've always been against all in one's myself. I myself have three different setups in my 3 rides. First my 06 Mazda rx8. It has an aftermarket alpine with the 6.5 inch screen. I had to spend almost 400 on the wiring harness and dash kit since the car had a bose stereo to begin with. I left the speakers and regular setup I just ran a Rockford fosgate 1000/1 that truly put out what it says. A little more actually. Eventually I upgraded to an insane planet audio pro 3000/1 monoblock wired down to one ohm. Powering two 12 fosgate subs in separate custom sealed boxes I made. And then a blitz 50 farad cap. The wiring was from fosgate ought gauge power and ground and honestly this setup is loud as can be and definitely can be the kind where you can hear it from a block away or tone it down to where it's just balanced out. My other setup is alpine Component 10 inch screen. All the speakers are Memphis as are the 12s and the mono and speakers Amp. It's in my cadi stsv and is what I use if I wanna show off since the Amp is mounted to a hydraulic moving system. Think trying to replicate 2fast 2 furious. The car has tons of led lighting inside and out and is my supercharged beast running solid at 63k even tho it's a 2006. Now usually I'm never a fan of stock stereos however my 2019 audi rs5 sport back has the original bang and olufsen 19 speaker setup and my wife's Benz cls63 2015 has the same make of stereo. Hands down nothing sounds as good and will hit every note without any distortion as well as a bang and O system. Plus the tweeters that pop up out of the dash is hot as can be.
    We sure have came a long way since I was 16 putting whatever I could get I think I had jbl to start with and a Sony deck in 2003 in the back of my bright red oldsmobile cutlass supreme convertible. Drop top with 20 inch spinners. I thought I was the coolest since everyone else around here drove ol rusty trucks. I was the outcast. Everyone called it a chick's ride.... guess they were right since I was always the one with a few girls wanting to ride with me and not some crappy redneck truck.

    few things to note. Subs in general especially powered subs need to be mounted to a solid base. This will help with the kinetic energy to not be lost by the box moving with the sub. I have never done a DB test but I have mounted them firmly and have noticed a difference.
    not sure on this specific sub but I know out of the many different brands I have installed I have found the best to be the older kenwood with passive radiator or the newer kicker hideaway. jbl, alpine, newer kenwood all were lacking.
    rockville surprised me and did well.
    Now I will always say a traditional amp and sub will outperform these by 100, but if you must have one. I would test the kicker.

Most of these units are low air volume ported/sealed/free air, and the power requirements/limits on the speakers are VERY specific. I can't tell you how many lies I told for my customers to warranty their systems, who backyard de-tuned or overpowered their systems into distortion and blown coils. Going the extra mile gave me more compliance with my request to keep the tuning to us. Previously with my old Joying Head Unit the powered sub woofer had tons of bass. When I had the new Joying Head Unit installed I can just barely hear the sub woofer. Need some help.

      You'll have to make sure the sub is wired correctly and that the head unit is actually putting out enough power.

    It depends on the frequency response you're looking for, I see that sub's range is between 50hz - 150hz, that's more of the mid bass hence competing with your 6x9; there'd be a major difference if it were perhaps 20hz - 50hz.

    This is ideal when you want to enhance your factory sound. Although, I would replace the factory speakers as well. I don’t know if newer cars have speakers with twitters in them, if they do, this little powered sub it’s all I would buy. I have 2011 Honda I’m not sure how the speakers are.

      I think most of theses subwoofers are active, not too many are passive. But if you have a pickup truck (crew-cab), options for under your rear seat is endless. But depending on your budget, almost every major brand is offering something for an active under-seat solution.

      The bass shakers you speak of are transducers. … Another consideration is that these type of enclosures work better when mounted to a solid part of the vehicle much like the other stock speakers in the car. Most diy (non car audio persons) just Velcro them under the seat. Proper mounting likely makes a difference as well.

    • @BudgetBassHead
      @BudgetBassHead  6 месяцев назад

      I agree. They do come with metal mounting hardware and the manual does have them mounted in multiple configurations.

    Hmm See I have a 03 buick lesabre, got the 6x9 kickers and 2 kicker 6 1/2s up front. Although it gives decent bass the flaw is no speakers in the rear doors 😢. The buicks don't have space under the seats either, BUT one unique thing is the backseat comes out which is where the battery is so I'm getting ideas about using that space should make up for the lack of rear speakers.

    Personally, I prefer a sealed box. It's a deeper. more solid, stronger bass sound, and mainly stays within the vehicle. I have 2 10s, bridged on 750w RMS. It doesn't have the rolling down the street "wow" factor that the show & competition fans look for. Even with the windows down, it sounds like 6x9s standing next to the truck, but it'll rattle your teeth inside the truck.

    So it's actually an 8in woofer and with the enclosure included it's a 10. Overall it's a good unit if you only have 4-6 in drivers in the Car. Thanks for the Review. (side note) 2 of them might really make some good "Punch" in a Sub Compact.
