    150w RMS isn't bad just to add some deep end to a stock system. That could actually be a decent addition for midbass.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Месяц назад +2

      A lot of these companies exaggerate the power figures. It could be a 100 or even 50 watts RMS.

      thats also what i thought about
      could be a good way to get midbass going if you have a sub in the rear thats cut off at 60 hz or similar

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 29 дней назад

      The big rear subwoofer in my Navigator rolls off above 45 hz due to the interior size and cancellation so I added a front sub.
      I tried a powered Rockville 8" underseat enclosure. I measured the response using an acoustical RTA with the enclosure under the passenger seat, under the 2nd row seat and in the passenger footwell.
      The footwell gave an extra 6dB across 50hz-80hz compared to under the seat. So the footwell is the best location, but can be in the way. Under the seat is more practical, but you need more cone area and/or power to get the same output levels.
      PS, that Rockville was rated at 100 watts (400 peak), but it only put out around 60w.

      These are perfect for under the front seat as midbass units. Saves you from needing extra amp channels.

    Holy crap that radiator being hidden up in there like that is genius! In a nutshell, a radiator acts the same way a port would. So its response is a lot lower than if there were no radiator. That's why all the modern Bluetooth speakers' bass sounds so good.
    Also, somehow I knew you were a repair tech just from the way you handled your work area lol. Ive been a repair tech my whole life. My shop and house just burned down a couple months ago though... :(

    My thinking is for the everyday, casual listener that doesn't want to lose cargo space, a small enclosure of around .7 cubes, (2) 6.5" subs, powered off of 300-500 rms would satisfy most and only total maybe $300 and outperform an all-in-one joint like this.

      I tried a very familiar setup for a customer. He wanted a 6.5 Subwoofer as he wasn’t that into Bass. He wanted more Clarity. Needless to say, he said the 6.5 had too much bass at 200Rms tuned to 40hz ??? Ended up putting some 6x9s in a box for him. He was happy….some people just ain’t built for the boom boom 😂

    I recently put a Kicker Hideaway in the footwell of my S2000. With it being a 2dr convertible and only 2 x 6 1/2 speakers in the door, I needed something that didn’t take up space. Man, I was really impressed. No it’s not brain shaking performance, but it is so much better than what I had. Now I’m looking at putting one into my 2023 Integra. With that being a hatchback, I should have a bit of db gain out of it as well. These little units are impressive for what they are and their costs.

    Pro tip: always test these type of systems with and without the phase button selected. Sometimes it makes a difference even if you've done your due diligence to maintain phase in your installation process. Sometimes this is due to OEM processing, sometimes it's due to poor product design.

    I installed a kicker hideaway8 under my seat in a chevy bolt ev. It really fills in some bottom end sound which that car desperately needs. From what i hear, even the "upgraded" bose setup is trash and this is the way to go in such a small car since i need to carry tools in the trunk. Its a market that im glad exists

    Awesome test, I'm in the situation in my small van of just 6.5 door speakers up front and theres just no bass, hearing the difference this made with just your rear 6.5s showed me an underseat all in one like this will fill in the sound nicely, not shaking the place down bass but just giving a full complete sound, great review thanks

    These pieces definitely have their place. I've sold them to customers who aren't willing to spend a lot of money, that like how their stock system sounds, but want to add just a little extra bass. They don't have to buy a separate enclosure, sub, amp, line level converter, and amp kit. One product and their vehicle remains relatively unmodified. You have to temper expectations and if you do so most people are ecstatic.

    I've installed a few under seat subwoofers. They're acceptable for people who absolutely don't want to sacrifice trunk space and it does round out the sound especially in smaller vehicles. But for the money there is no comparison to having a 10 or 12 sealed in the trunk. Or if you actually enjoy bass there are so many cheap options for ported 2 12's.

    I just installed something very close to this in a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that belongs to a friend of mine. It was the Tochinkar 10" 800W Slim Under Seat Powered Subwoofer. There are several different versions of it on Amazon with different name branding that I found. I had very little hope going into the install with the 800w rating and 15 amp fuse. However, this little thing surprised me. They definitely have their place in the market and they seem to be well built. Only downside I found was the power and ground wires. Very skimpy.

    I'm wondering if there was some bass cancellation going on when mounted under the seat. Maybe if they added a phase switch. Did it sound better in the trunk vs under the seat? The only other alternative is a small inexpensive powered bass tube. Might also be good for those wanting some extra mid bass fill up front if you have (like you said) smaller door speakers.

    • @BudgetBassHead

    You should play with yiur crossiver a bit. Usually they sound good about mid way, dont just jacknit all the way up. The box or instruction will give you a good starting point, the car, your volune setting, size if sub and music all are factors, play around with it until you hit that sweet spot

  • @whitmorestrains
    @whitmorestrains Месяц назад +1

    I would think that those who want to pull the bass a bit more forward and improve midbass at the drivers head could use one of these along with a full sub system in the trunk. You would need a dsp to tweak it into the system.

      The bass shakers you speak of are transducers. … Another consideration is that these type of enclosures work better when mounted to a solid part of the vehicle much like the other stock speakers in the car. Most diy (non car audio persons) just Velcro them under the seat. Proper mounting likely makes a difference as well.

    • @BudgetBassHead
