The beauty of tuning software! Never occurred to me that you can pump a VVT engine at idle for chunky idle. Now I want to hear a non-turbo miata with "Subaru-style" UEL headers + Ghost cam idle. Take that soy-sauce veggie burger and inject some meaty flavor.
I found this out by accident. Didn't realize what was causing it until I installed an adjustable cam gear (single cam, no vvt engine) and as soon as I started messing with the cam timing, the chop kinda went away. I thought I was crazy until I found this video confirming my observations.

**theoretically** you could do the exact same thing with a set of physically adjustable cams on a bone stock 1.6. They cost like $50 each. I have no idea what the performance impacts would be at running rpms, but it could be a very cool and relatively safe experiment. (Or ya know… you could just intentionally mistime your intake cam two or three teeth or so) I would not condone any such tampering and definitely didn’t do anything similar on my own 1.6. Doing any of those things would require pretty much unscrewing your entire IACV adjustment, and cause your car to be even more gutless above like 5k rpms. But it could be done 🤔
The only reason I hate those is it's literally louder than gunshots and people in my neighborhood do it down every block at all hours. Like shut up already
Very similar to VTEC killer but a little less aggressive as lift and duration remain the same with the BP6D. And the high power Honda guys actually have good reason to do it unlike me 😅

I have a buddy with an unequal length turbo manifold and it totally rumbles. Super unique sound especially since it's got big cams too.
