@shot shot I beg to differ. The effects of downforce/aerodynamics can begin to present themselves at speeds as low as 40 mph. By 60, they are ever present. In a 440 hp Miata, the rules of the road are unlikely to be followed. It is very possible and likely that the owner will exceed 100 mph on multiple occasions. Perhaps he will even take high speed corners at 100+. Proper aero will not only make this car safer, but much faster through high speed turns and much more fun to drive.

This Miata is fast enough to warrant aero. If it were me I’d add a functional front splitter and rear wing to keep it from taking flight 😳😅. I think aero looks like balls but this car warrants it! It must feel pretty sketchy above 120 mph or so. It’s so light and the body wasn’t designed with downforce in mind like even a base Corvette or Porsche.

This brings back memories ... My first Miata was an NB I built up with 350hp at 18psi boost, which I used as a daily driver for years. Mine was built to run 25psi, but it rarely even touched 20psi. He's 100% correct, this car is not one to hand to someone not ready for the power. Boost made the car so intoxicating to drive, but you get in trouble super easy. Yes, it's fun, but it really ups the fear factor. It changes the car from a fun car that you can do whatever to one you have to keep under control to not die quickly. Recently, I picked up an ND1 and love it. So much fun to go a little nuts at times knowing you're well within the limits of the car.

This reminds me of how fast my 2016 r6 is. I can rip to 67mph in first gear within seconds from a dig. Not hating but just blazed and realizing just how fast motorcycles are haha

This Miata must slay so many unsuspecting victims. If I saw this Miata on the road I would’ve guessed it had 160 hp tops (most Miata’s aren’t turbocharged; ~130hp stock). Now I know not to mess with a white NA Miata when in MA 😅

Hey Ted, maybe a little late , but as a Turbo Miata owner myself, I really loved this review. Awesome sound btw!
What I noticed was the very short gearing in this thing. The 6 speed is even shorter in every gear than the 5 speed and the 4.1 or 4.3 rear end in this car isn't going to help.
I bet it's fun banging gears all the time, but with longer gearing (I have a 3.6 rear end), the power gets so much more usable and you can "move" on the power for a good bit longer, which makes the car faster against the clock for example.
None the less, this car looks amazing and puts the power down very very good. You also managed it very good.
Nothing more fun than a big power Turbo Miata on some twistys and ripping on the highway for a few minutes
