@@thegrapethief5514 that’s right! The suicide squad game takes place during the Arkham games! I do wonder how they’re going to make those games connect a bit with Arkham.
1:42 Fun Fact: This game uses the Unreal Engine 3, the same engine used in the first Gears of War. A lot of people think it's the Unreal 4, but nope. And if that wasn't impressive enough, Unreal 3 was designed for linear games like shooters. The developers from Epic Games said they were impressed Rocksteady managed to create environments that huge... in Arkham Asylum! For them, Akrham Asylum was impossible to create in Unreal 3, but Rocksteady not only did it, but using the same engine they did this game which is 25 times bigger than Asylum.
That is totally insane. I never thought Rocksteady could pull something like this off. I never thought the same engine used in an older game, was used for a newer game. That is quite insane for them.
For your breakdown of the chessboard (cause I really like that you analyzed that) I noticed that the black king is actually unable to move as both white knights and the queen have him penned in. However, he is saved by the fact that the black night is in position to take out the queen. Assuming you are correct in saying the white queen represents scarecrow, this foreshadows the Arkham knight (redhood) saving Batman in the final act. Glad you pointed out the chessboard!
No matter the move it's still checkmate. Which fits pretty well. Even though Scarecrow was still taken out, he succeeded in tearing down the mantle of Batman after revealing his Identity.
After knight takes queen bishop moves to E7 protected by the knight and the kings escape squares are covered by the knights. So it’s a queen sacrifice checkmate. It’s beautiful
31:51 Jim doesn’t ignore it. Right after the boss fight when they are in the elevator Jim mentions the time where he took the witness statement from Bruce, and Batman replies with “You were kind, Jim.”
Rewatching the video again, I believe that Jim has known Batman and Bruce were the same. Though it’s not explicitly stated, I personally believe Batman told him a while ago. They are friends/allies so it would make sense, at least to me.
@@GeorgeDroyd1998 yeah, it's not like it had major flaws like boring supporting characters, bringing in Jason in the last entry, a reliance on the Batmobile and hands down the worst side quests in an Arkham Game. Still amazing, but imo the worst of the Arkham Games, yes even below Origins.
@@ultrabigfella and what are these “major flaws”? Y’all talked so much $hit on the batmobile the devs handed over the rights to the game never to make another one again. 👏
17:26 The knight is in fact, not checking the king, but it is in a position where the king cannot move out of the queen's check without being checked by the knight. The only move the king can make is by putting his own knight in between himself and the queen, ie Bruce (king) locking Tim (knight) in the cell, who is taken by Scarecrow (queen).
@@LCampbell0728 Whoops, missed that. Although, Black's knight taking the queen could for sure be a metaphor for Jason freeing Bruce from Scarecrow at the end.
@@LCampbell0728 I didn't see taking the W.Queen with B.Knight until you pointed it out, and that one move could save the game. I at first saw a no-win scenario for Black until you brought that move up. I saw B.Knight blocks the check from W.Queen, W.Bishop takes B.Knight, Checkmate.
@@TheSacredSavior, while i haven't been looking at the board all that long B.knight to W.queen, is the only way to remove check and White doesn't have another way to place a safe check on the B.king in 1 move and if you look at W.king Blacks Queen and Bishop is limiting its movements down to 2 options ..huh actually black still has all its backline and has only lost 3 pawns while White has lost 2 pawns, 2 rooks and 1 Bishop the current board set-up looks to be in Whites favour Black actually has the stronger options in this game maybe that's what its meant to symbolize that while the current situation looks dire there is always a way to win?
Finally! Despite all the backlash given to this game, this one is my favorite of the Arkham Series because all of the gameplay feels so refined! And even the story despite some flaws is also really good and Scarecrow is amazing here as well as his design. One of my favorite designs(probably behind Injustice 2 Scarecrow though, design wise).
@@jeanetten.s.8557 The pc version launched full of bugs and issues. I personally wasn't even able to fully finish it because i ran into a Riddler puzzle with an elevator that never ended. You can still find articles from 2015 about how Warner was offering full refunds because the pc version was THAT broken. The story was amazing, but if you can't actually PLAY a game...
@@jeanetten.s.8557 The general critisicm given towards the game I've seen is: - Atrocious PC launch. -Overeliance on Batmobile. - The Arkham Knight's reveal being too predictable. I'm don't remember the article, but I remember Rocksteady saying that he would be a completely new character. Hmm... - Several plot point setup in City ending rather anticlimactically. I think Hush suffered the most from this considering how basic his big plan turned out to be. - Bossfights in general were either forgettable mechanically, or a Tank fight, with not much variety. - The fight against Deathstroke ended up being...a tank battle. Considering the fight in Origins, people felt dissapointed with how that turned out. - Overabbundance of DLC without much substance to them (the Season of Infamy DLC was for the most part praised) - Bringing back the Joker yet again after introducing the possibility of a game without him, following City's ending. - Scarecrow can feel like a background character most of the time. Also the whole "City of fear" concept in the 3rd act doesn't really accomplish much for Scarecrow. All he ended up doing is spreading the gas in a city that is mostly left with criminals and not much else. What did he accomplish with that? - Collectibles can feel like too much at times. This is the game with the most Riddler Trophies and biggest map in the series. - The ending was rather controversial at launch. There's no one big issue outside of the Batmobile and the AK reveal, but I think it's just some gripes people have with Knight that piles up and makes it (for them) their least favorite in the series. For me, it's either Origins and Knight, though I always had an appreciation for Origins and there's a lot to like about it. I'm not sure where I lie with Knight, but I do respect it for not playing it safe like Origins did and aiming for being the largest game in the franchise in terms of scope.
The problem was the boss fights. I was sooo hyped up for the fight with Deathstroke and it ended up as a tank battle. At least AK got a decent fight, even if it is more of a stealthy boss fight
38:54 I’ve always liked that thought. We may not have costume’d heroes like Wolverine, Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Man or Superman but we’ll always have at least one man standing up for a righteous cause.
The Tankmobile may have been used a lot, but absolutely nobody can say that the actual mechanics and gameplay of the thing was not on point. There's nothing that you can improve in the way it moves, responds and feels.
it was simply just overused. I would not have a problem with the batmobile, if it wouldn't be necessary for half of the time to either solve a main mission, side quest or all the riddles.
I remember playing this back when it first came out. I let the opening "I've Got You Under My Skin" completely play out because I didn't see the prompt to incinerate the Joker, and ended up triggering the hidden jump scare first time through.
So we not gonna talk about how great Gordon looks and how he’s voiced by mike erhmantrout from breaking bad? Such an improvement from the old looking meh sounding alright from the first two games
This was actually my first Arkham game. I then went back and played Asylum and City. Yes, the Cloudburst tank battle was pretty hard, but it's still a fun game.
Same I started here and went back and just with how smooth the gameplay is it makes this my favorite even if I like some parts of the other games a little more. Overall I like knight the most
Arkham Knight is also my first Arkham game, I have to say it is my favorite out of the two, I liked the fact it had longer gameplay, where as the other two were short I mean it took me three days to complete both games (aside from the Riddler puzzles). The only thing I wish Arkham Knight had compare to the other two were better boss fights and being able to swap and freeroam between any of the playable characters like in Arkham City.
39:41 Win #192. First time I played Arkham Knight to the end, hearing those words let me know he had won. First heard against Scarecrow in TAS. Last heard against his arch-nemesis here. No one will ever be able to recreate the feeling of triumph behind those words like he did. RIP Kevin Conroy.
This game holds a special place in my heart. I got injured playing college football and was immobile for a few months so this game was my introduction to red hood and I loved it. It inspired me to start reading comics and really dive into both DC and marvel beyond the movies
26:12 In all the play-throughs I've seen, I've never witnessed Joker actually materialize in the elevator. he always just shows up after you turn away. I also love how Barbara has her classic batgirl colours on through her clothes. Purple and yellow
36:06 something else about this scene. So throughout all the origins Joker is trying to get Batman to break his one rule but as we know he never succeeds. Until this point where Batman “kills” Joker. While no one actually died, I believe that Joker still won here.
I actually have the opposite interpretation I think this scene finally allows Bruce to move on and give him closure. And Joker inadvertently helped. He thought making Batman “kill” him willingly would make Bruce finally give up. But the thing is once Bruce does it nothing has really changed. He hasn’t become this sadistic monster ready to murder every criminal he sees. He’s still him still himself, still a good man.
@@Batman-ro9mj I am talking about the movie (havent read the comics for it). Also. I think you might be thinking of The Killing Joke and not The Dark Knight Returns
Finally! I’m so glad to finally fet some positivity around this game! So often the absolute mastery of this game is bogged down by people just nitpicking at incredibly minor pieces of the plot or complaining to no end about the batmobile, yet even something so simple as moving around the map is made engaging by new mechanics like allowing the use of the grappling hook to propel further- literally, going back to the older games and playing without this sort of Quality of Life stuff is almost a chore.

Just finished the batman games and knight was my favourite. This was an amazing run through the game and really hits the nail on the head. I love being batman after a day at work
I actually liked the Batmobile. It was a bit combersome at times and some puzzles that needed it were irksome but still the addition was cool. Plus it adds to the marketing: Be The Batman. You can’t be The Batman without using ALL of his wonderful toys.
I loved playing this game. I don't know how someone could hate the battank. Yes, it's used quite a lot, but c'mon, you're driving a freakin' tank! I loved the story, the gameplay, everything. This game was an absolute masterpiece.
31:58 Jim already knew that Bruce Wayne was batman, in the elevator Jim says that he'll always remember taking a witness statement from an 8 year old boy who just saw his parents gunned down, and Bruce says "You were kind, Jim" then a little bit after Jim says, "We're the same Bruce, we'd do anything for our family"
20:19 I'm sorry but I have to point out how beautifully clean that was. I absolutely love the combat in this game. And as someone who did martial arts for 5 years and as a guy who just enjoys a good fight scene, I got entirely too hype just for those few seconds of combat.
Knight is one of my favorite games in general, and probably my second favorite Arkham game after City. I do a replay about once a year, and it was the first game I bought when i got my PS4. I think it had the best DLCs in the entire series, right next to Origins Cold, Cold, Heart. A Matter of Family is pretty damn good, and while the Nightwing, Catwoman, Red Hood, and Harley DLC were a little lacking (they should have been longer and we should have had a full playable Red Hood story instead of a few little combat missions.) The amount of suits we get and skins for the Batmobile are insane, and I absolutely love it. I'm excited to see what Rocksteady does with the Suicide Squad and I'm anticipating Gotham Knights even though that's WB Montreal.
This game was the culmination of all the games before it and delivered perfectly. It gave us the ideal send off. I loved Jason coming back in it and not letting him be forgotten
I've grown to appreciate and love this entry more and more since it originally came out. The story idea is good, the gameplay is at its peak, and the voice performances are app top notch; plus you get to beat the shit out of Riddler for all those damn clues!! I do wish the boss fights were done better, which is the biggest knock on this game, but I still really enjoy going back and replaying this.
This is my favorite Arkham game by far. I just love how powerful Batman feels in this game and that suit is damn hot. This game made you truly feel like batman allowing us to use the batmobile and all his gadgets and detective scenes. Truly the definition of being the Knight.
26:16 rather than anything to do with the Killing Joke, I feel like this is more related to Batman's fears and hallucinations getting worse, because it's like his own subconscious reprimands him for not doing _something_ else to save Joker despite the cure already being destroyed. Especially since the line immediately before it is, "You killed me! You destroyed my cure right in front of me." IE, Batman's fear is telling him that it was his fault, a sign that it's getting worse since we know and HE knows that it wasn't his fault.
This is EASILY my favorite Arkham game in the series, the Music, graphics, gameplay, story, and characters are all top notch! I keep getting told how easy and forced Jason was but in my personal opinion I didn’t see the fact that it was Jason till WAAAYYY later. In fact I’m pretty sure the only reason I knew it was him was because RUclips put a video with Jason as the thumbnail in my feed. See I wasn’t thinking of things that were already in Batman’s story I was thinking of a new character or maybe someone not as big. He doesn’t have to be part of the bat family to be someone who has this HUGE want for revenge against him and know all his weaknesses, hell even azreal could’ve been a contestant for the weakness part, seeing as his fighting style is EXACTLY the same as Batman’s In this game. I think them putting Jason in this game as the Arkham knight first was their way of making a unique version of Red hood. So that doesn’t take away from the game at all. And the bat-mobile…… is GREAT. Idk how they could translate Batman’s movement and fighting style into a giant tank but they did. When your surrounded and getting shot from all sides it actually feels like your in the free-flow combat system as a tank and when your stalking the heavy tanks it feels like the sneaking sections as Batman, and they’re spaced out enough that enjoyed all the sections. THE ONE THING I THINK THEY COULD’VE DONE BETTER! Was the bosses. Death stroke was a joke and some of the others were pretty boring, I think they added some good ones with the dlc but that death-stroke one was just too awful coming from the fantastic death-stroke boss fight from origins.
The problem is that fans believe Arkham is made specifically for ultra fans, and if you don't know all the characters you don't deserve to play As someone who prefers Batman alone or with only Jim (I don't like the Robins or alternate Batpeople), I didn't expect Jason Todd. It's not my fault that others are so obsessed over Red Hood that the second any passing reference to a character hating Batman is made, they instantly assume it's him My only complaint is that Rocksteady lied by saying the Knight was a brand new character, but tbf bringing in a new character for the last game of the series is dumb
@WiiManElite cause I didn’t watch the trailers, and because they can introduce Jason at any point, with everything that was happening it makes sense for Jason flashbacks to come back. After like the 2nd or 3rd flashback I had a pretty good idea but still wasn’t concrete, it wasn’t till the scene where Gordon is captured that I was like oh yo it’s Jason, which is then revealed like 2 minutes later lol. Idk I really like the red hood story line so for them to take a different take to it made me happy.
The plausible thing to do would be sending the horse (Robin) to get the Queen (scarecrow), sacrificing him to the white horse (AK), only Batman refuses to do that. Man, I love these tiny details!
It's something very minor but I LOVE the animation on Joker when they reveal Jason, the way he walks around him divided my attention between the two of them but I was mostly paying attention to Joker because he was talking, but when he ducks under Jason's gun it was like it snapped me back to "reality" and only then I went "oh shit, it's Jason"
This game is a masterpiece to me. For me, my favorite part of Batman ends up being his whole family, and to have so many Batfam members in this game was so nice to see. Jason is easily one of my favorite characters, and also fun fact, Troy Baker voiced Joker in Arkham Origins as well as Robin in Arkham City, which is a nice nod, albeit not intentional, to Jason's backstory. Another thing was that I really enjoyed the bat tank. This is the third (arguably the fourth, if you count Origins) game and we finally got it. It was so much fun zipping around the streets in it, taking part in chases, and the tank battles are actually so much fun for me. But to each their own. All in all, this series is hands down my favorite game series ever and I will replay these games probably for years to come
That line about Jim not being a genocidal purple guy literally has me sitting for 5 minutes thinking about who in the world he was talking about, only to realize he was mentioning Thanos.
The King actually could be in a double check, if the Knight was moved for a discovered check. If King is on E8 and the queen is on G6, the knight could move from F7 to D6 and therefore put the king into double check. It would also be checkmate on that board. The knight isn't putting the black king in check, to be fair. It's one square too far.
But with 2 moves (and the king does have this luxury) the Bishop on the back row (Todd) could save him from the other Bishop or the Knight and allow the king to squeeze itself free. Also, there is another knight which does reach the King if it moves to that square.
Though there may be a bit of reading into things. I enjoy the deeper potential meaning you look for in these games and I've truly been able to feel and appreciate them more after watching some of your videos and it makes me want to play them again to enjoy that aspect. Games are entertainment but they're also a beautiful and sometimes tragic (or both) story that some people don't see any farther than the gameplay. I truly enjoy your videos
One thing I loved was the encounter with scarecrow on the airship, personally, I feel that it was a call back to Batman: The Animated Series, because scarecrows debut episode in that show showed him fighting batman on a blimp
I've had this game since it released and it was only earlier this year that I realized that you can unlock the Freeze Blast from Arkham City in Panessa Studios to the left when you exit the elevator.
Hadn't known about this channel before and absolutely loved watching through these 43 minutes. Thanks for giving Arkham Knight some much needed love. +1 Sub
Personally, my issue with Jason is how unsympathetic he is here. I mean, regardless of his genuine feelings about Bruce abandoning him, he still willingly helped take over an entire city AND used a biological weapon to terrorize Gotham. I don't care how genuine and real his anger is towards Bruce. He still did all this stuff and never faces any real consequences for his actions. Add how forced he feels and how much the batmobile is used in this game and it's my least favourite Arkham game. However, I still don't think it's horrible. The combat is still fun, the graphics are amazing and the story isn't all bad. That's just my thoughts though. Glad you love the game so much and keep up the great work :)
It would make Todd a little more forgivable if he faked the threat of Fear Gas but Scarecrow betrays him to make it real. They could have even added a fake Scarecrow with Arkham Asylum costume to fool us and when we take him down and remove the mask, TADAAAA its not Scarecrow! And the real one steps in later on.
Fair point. It might have helped had he not straight up murdered people. Putting people in harms way without actually killing them (intentionally at least) would probably have done the trick of having us take the Knight seriously as a threat to Batman without making us hate him. However this does take away from the ultimate victory of both Joker and Scarecrow. We need to feel the loss of the Batman and the weight of the walls closing in around him for the conclusions payoff to mean something.
Well unlike the usual Jason who dies a hero and is resurrected as a villain this Jason never died and instead was manipulated into growing much angrier and spiteful towards Batman as well as growing more into a villain
@@MrKlausbaudelaire That's kinda what happened in the beginning where you had to pick one of the two scarecrows and neither one was correct and he escapes
Tbh for the Arkham knight I would love the idea of it playing out as “the audience knows it’s Jason but Batman has to eventually learn” like how they did it in invincible, in the audio logs Barbra eventually learned that Jason was the Arkham knight. Edit: actually, I’m pretty sure they intended for that to be the case, and I’m just to stupid to realize that. From the moment Jason “dies” we basically all know he’s the Arkham Knight, as if not that then it’s right after Jason destroy the Batmobile with him mentioning Batman as “Bruce”, it’s just that Batman doesn’t believe Jason is the knight because in his mind Jason IS dead.
Its amazing how a Franchise can evolve and become something so deep and intriguing that you can spend so much time thinking about every aspect and every little Detail. Then the Franchise gets "revived" years later just to literally fuck up every Single thing they have Set up, ignore the Story, let the characters you know and love become jokes. All that just so they could make a bad game about the fucking suicide squad. I mean these guys off screen killed Robin. The hero these games set up as a succesor to batman.
35:55 another win: the background OST. It's the same as when you mourn Bruce's parents in Arkham City, but it quickly fades away as soon as Joker appears.
36:48 Fun fact: This entire sequence mirrors the Scarecrow game crash jumpscare from Asylum. And yes is a parallel of Asylums intro which is again spoofed in that jumpscare. Layers ppl, layers.
I was just about to comment about the score until you spoke on it, the audio work in this game is immaculate, specifically the music scoring. They really kinda got the feel of a Zimmer score
About the chess part at 17:00. Only the queen is checking. Because knights can only move 2 spaces not 3, and then 1 space in an L shape. But still white has mate in 1. Black knight takes the queen then the black square Bishop goes to E7 and checkmates.
I always thought Arkham knight to be my favorite. I’ve played the game 5 times within the years and each time has been fun and exciting. It has Jason Todd and the red hood and the main story basically being Arkhams Batman under the red hood. The grapple upgrades made everything quicker and more exciting traveling. Games an s tier
That Barbra getting shot scene pissed me off, like the hell happened with all the martial Arts and batman training. Like where was the bitch running, the wall?
Dude, Barbara's "suicide" shocked me. I had no clue it was a hallucination. It hit SO hard, and having joker walk in front of it planted the seed of it being a fear toxin nightmare. This game still holds up
31:52 Gordon DID hear him call 'batman' "Bruce”. We hear it in the elevator scene right after the "fight" with Jason. - 32:47 , I believe Gordon just does not care, who Batman is underneath. It's what he does that defines him. That's why we don't get such an "explosive" reaction from Gordon. They trust, know and support each other. From enemies to respected soldiers on the battlefield together.
i notice that a lot of people are just like one of those old dudes that think their era is better. the batmobile is freaking awesome, and i use most of my upgrade point on it and it's worth it.
29:57 My head canon that Ivy didn't die. That's her clone. The plant clone. She did make herself a clone once in TAS. Tried to move away from everything and forget her past. Didn't take then... maybe now?
Truly a fantastic video that I personally think highlights the good and the bad of the game. Just a few things as a summary: - loved the chessboard analysis, I'm not good at chess, so I wouldn't have picked up on it - I always chose to interpret the thing with Jim as "Jim's always suspected or known but hearing it out loud kinda cemented it and made it safe to discuss openly" clear the air so to speak. - Slightly upset that Bruce's line to Scarecrow at the end when he hits him with Fear Toxin didn't get a win I- am also mildly upset that none of the DLC side missions and normal side missions were explored in the video, those I feel also help enhance the experience (though not all of them, looking at you Hush) - Overall great video! Keep up the awesome work! Hopefully, you're able to do Arkham Shadow at some point!
Something I also very much like about Gordon having shot Batman in the symbol on his chest is that a few times throughout the game, the Arkham Knight or one of his militia talk about how that is the strongest part of his armor. And in the character files, under Jim Gordon, one of his skills is labeled as "Expert marksman". So you know that it was not an accident at all. Rocksteady did great with all the little details of the game.
I think I'm one of the very few people that actually loves the Batmobile in this game and enjoys driving around more than gliding around as Batman. Now granted, part of that is the fact that I have a fear of heights and I actually get a little motion sick flinging myself around to glide... But the Batmobile is just so fun to use and I love blasting things with its weaponry. It's good, and anyone who says otherwise is dumb and wrong and has an illegal opinion.

Rest in Peace indeed, this video popped back up in my recommended and I was wondering if anyone had commented anything here. :(
1:42 Fun Fact: This game uses the Unreal Engine 3, the same engine used in the first Gears of War.
That is fucking insane
It was heavily modified unreal engine 3 borrowing features from 4. So technically it's like unreal engine 3.5 or something. Impressive nevertheless
@@nightblade178 this makes it look like they did it so they can just say "we did it on unreal 3 everybody" still an insane achievemwnt nonetheless
yes and the game was uplayable for a year on pc :/
That is totally insane. I never thought Rocksteady could pull something like this off. I never thought the same engine used in an older game, was used for a newer game. That is quite insane for them.
For your breakdown of the chessboard (cause I really like that you analyzed that) I noticed that the black king is actually unable to move as both white knights and the queen have him penned in. However, he is saved by the fact that the black night is in position to take out the queen. Assuming you are correct in saying the white queen represents scarecrow, this foreshadows the Arkham knight (redhood) saving Batman in the final act.
Glad you pointed out the chessboard!
if it is black to play black takes the queen with the night and then the bishop slides in and it's checkmate
No matter the move it's still checkmate. Which fits pretty well. Even though Scarecrow was still taken out, he succeeded in tearing down the mantle of Batman after revealing his Identity.
For those interested, look up “The World’s Greatest Chess Game”.

I assumed that he knew in city already. But asylum I’m not sure.
"We're the same Bruce" is also said by Jim.

@@GeorgeDroyd1998 bro what? What do you mean "WhAt ArE tHeSe MaJoR fLaWs" I literally listed my biggest problems with the game.
The "I am vengeance..." line is a callback to the animated series. Specifically spoken during Scarecrows first episode. It's a nice touch.
Black can just take the queen with his knight actually. Still a somewhat working metaphor.
@@LCampbell0728 Whoops, missed that. Although, Black's knight taking the queen could for sure be a metaphor for Jason freeing Bruce from Scarecrow at the end.
@@thegamingknight2096 That's how I took it, which I thought was a very nice little detail.
@@TheSacredSavior, while i haven't been looking at the board all that long B.knight to W.queen, is the only way to remove check
and White doesn't have another way to place a safe check on the B.king in 1 move

..huh actually black still has all its backline and has only lost 3 pawns
while White has lost 2 pawns, 2 rooks and 1 Bishop
the current board set-up looks to be in Whites favour Black actually has the stronger options in this game
maybe that's what its meant to symbolize that while the current situation looks dire there is always a way to win?
The moment when you lock Joker away and You actually hear genuine fear in his voice was a very powerful moment to me. The whole game is a masterpiece.

@@jeanetten.s.8557 The general critisicm given towards the game I've seen is:
- Atrocious PC launch.
- Overabbundance of DLC without much substance to them (the Season of Infamy DLC was for the most part praised)
- Bringing back the Joker yet again after introducing the possibility of a game without him, following City's ending.
He’s referenced it in another video as a Tank Sim. And I think that is a fun little jab at what is I think a great bookend to a fantastic game series.
Same!

32:21 "I need to get under the vantage point to take him down"
*Is already on the vantage point, taking him down*
26:16 rather than anything to do with the Killing Joke, I feel like this is more related to Batman's fears and hallucinations getting worse, because it's like his own subconscious reprimands him for not doing _something_ else to save Joker despite the cure already being destroyed. Especially since the line immediately before it is, "You killed me! You destroyed my cure right in front of me."
IE, Batman's fear is telling him that it was his fault, a sign that it's getting worse since we know and HE knows that it wasn't his fault.
1 thing I would have mentioned was his relationship with nightwing in this game how they talk to each other completely differently to everyone else
Death stroke was a joke and some of the others were pretty boring, I think they added some good ones with the dlc but that death-stroke one was just too awful coming from the fantastic death-stroke boss fight from origins.
agreed!!
The problem is that fans believe Arkham is made specifically for ultra fans, and if you don't know all the characters you don't deserve to play
As someone who prefers Batman alone or with only Jim (I don't like the Robins or alternate Batpeople), I didn't expect Jason Todd. It's not my fault that others are so obsessed over Red Hood that the second any passing reference to a character hating Batman is made, they instantly assume it's him
My only complaint is that Rocksteady lied by saying the Knight was a brand new character, but tbf bringing in a new character for the last game of the series is dumb
@@memememe609 yah them saying he was brand new was kinda dumb. But I mean they were TECHNICALLY telling the truth lol.
All in all, this series is hands down my favorite game series ever and I will replay these games probably for years to come
That line about Jim not being a genocidal purple guy literally has me sitting for 5 minutes thinking about who in the world he was talking about, only to realize he was mentioning Thanos.
i like how, when you control the cop in the beginning, if you dont attack anyone, when you see him later hes much more mentally stable.

@@Shapes_Quality_Control, I get that. It's just a frustrating story for me overall. It's better than the sum of its parts for me :)

What a good video I’ve never seen this much detail in a game review before it’s crazy good job man 💚
Its amazing how a Franchise can evolve and become something so deep and intriguing that you can spend so much time thinking about every aspect and every little Detail.
Amazing video, i thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
I think the problem is that there was so much material for rocksteady to use that they were somewhat overwhelmed when the bat mobile was added
Rest In Peace Kevin
RIP Kevin Conroy! He will forever be my batman voice

Fun fact: This entire sequence mirrors the Scarecrow game crash jumpscare from Asylum.
Jim Gordon already knew Bruce Wane is Batman 32:00
It’s a good detail to see Jason care for Barbra and Alfred but hating Batman.
34:11 I know 50% of players beat all these guys without realising you could hop in the batmobile and shock them all
Dude, Barbara's "suicide" shocked me. I had no clue it was a hallucination. It hit SO hard, and having joker walk in front of it planted the seed of it being a fear toxin nightmare. This game still holds up
Just recently started playing this again, forgot how good it was
Kevin Conroy really WAS the shit. Rest in peace..
I’m so happy that you reviewed this game, it actually made me want to play it, after pushing it off for so long! Thank you!
29:57 My head canon that Ivy didn't die. That's her clone. The plant clone. She did make herself a clone once in TAS. Tried to move away from everything and forget her past. Didn't take then... maybe now?
I always thought Henry looked the most like Joker and wasn't surprised at all he was pretending

Tbh i loved driving around gotham
Truly a fantastic video that I personally think highlights the good and the bad of the game. Just a few things as a summary:
- loved the chessboard analysis, I'm not good at chess, so I wouldn't have picked up on it
- I always chose to interpret the thing with Jim as "Jim's always suspected or known but hearing it out loud kinda cemented it and made it safe to discuss openly" clear the air so to speak.
- Slightly upset that Bruce's line to Scarecrow at the end when he hits him with Fear Toxin didn't get a win
I- am also mildly upset that none of the DLC side missions and normal side missions were explored in the video, those I feel also help enhance the experience (though not all of them, looking at you Hush)
- Overall great video!
I've always been torn between City and Knight for my favorite Arkham game. City for story and Knight for gameplay, graphics and voice acting.
I didn't realise at 14:25 joker does the terminator roses shotgun scene but with fear toxin needles really funny
24:00 you didn’t even mention how emotional Alfred sounds. The way he talks in this sequence has always stuck with me, idk
