There’s no better feeling than the first time you hear Jade come over the radio and start warning you about sunset. Then that final “good night, and good luck” damn it’s so awesome.
Honestly DL1 was the first horror game to genuinely terrify me without just spamming jumpscares everywhere every 2 seconds which is probably why I liked it so much I didn't need to get bombarded with sensory overload and loud screams to be terrified I didn't even need to see a volatile at night to be scared just the night itself scared me because "there could be something there" it's the same fear I had as a child of something lurking in the darkness of my closet or bed and DL1 hit that note perfectly
It's a top 10 for me. I went back to it after I got a Series X and was blown away because of the 60fps. Also it was good timing because Techland gave it that treatment along with the PS5. Kudos to a developer that still give their game TLC after over 6 years

Dying Light 1 is just better overall than the 2nd game. The feel, the soundtrack, etc. DL1 really feels special the first time you play it- especially with friends.
The game has a design that doesn’t let up the horror aside from a few safe houses, it constantly spawns zombies around you basically anywhere and you can tell from the background ambience being full of zombie sounds and fire with no nature sounds or anything peaceful, that you won’t rest, making it more of a constant horror game than a actual open world
The devs at techland really knew how to make you feel a certain way. In dying light 1 it feels like a dying inescapable city with an inevitable end. At the start you are curious, and by your first night you are fearful, very fearful, you are not going to make it outside. In dying light 2 it feels like a beautiful but dangerous place, there is safe places but a lot of them are dangerous. When you first unlock the open world, you're filled with curiosity, you could do so much, and by night, it's not really scary, but chases are exhilarating, and honestly they're really fun.

Or even the military jets that start to scout the city, zooming past randomly, reminding you of harrans impending doom.

Dying Light was really good at making the world feel lived in. The atmosphere is really special. I remember playing it for the first half a year and I had a sealing fan in my room. So being in an aired apartment in the came and hearing the wind go through and feeling the breeze from the fan made it just so much better. And the micro situational stories you see throughout the game a couch in a room with syringes and leftover food packs, a crashed car with a dead body pined to a tree of wall... Dying Light 2 doesn't has much of that. Obviously there are two different groups of people who made the two Dying Light games.

"I'm yet to play Dying Light sequel but I do plan to and I can't wait to see how their game handles its atmosphere because it truly has a lot to live up to" A words of a hopeful person who is about to be disappointed in so many ways...
Harran reminds me so much of my hometown Mumbai. I know Harran is a middle-eastern city based probably somewhere in eastern turkey, but the layout of the streets, buildings, the slums, the palm trees, the type of concrete used... All of this looks exactly like Mumbai.

Great video! Your descriptions started to re-immerse me into the game even though it’s been ages since I’ve last played it. I’m looking forward to your take on dying light 2.
Atmosphere is a crucial part of some of my favorite games. Some developers can truly nail a setting and while I do like the locales depicted in Assassin's Creed for their environments, history and accuracy, I have to admit that there's something special about a fictional place that can pull you in. Kyrat via Far Cry 4, Rook Islands - specifically the northern island - via Far Cry 3, the City of Glass via Mirror's Edge, and so on. Harran is right after Kyrat for me when it comes to how the game world looks and feels. There is this constant feeling of dread, or of hope being slowly drained away with the setting of the sun, a perpetual state of alert. But then there are those quiet moments, in a safe house, on a rooftop, atop the Antenna, where Harran opens up and you can see parts of the city still lit up in the distance, safe from where you are, and you think maybe there's a way to save the city and the people who still live there. The cityscape and interiors feel like a mixture of real world places, similar to Kyrat in Far Cry 4. Kyrat is heavily inspired by Nepal, India, Tibet, and Bhutan, and each element of the game world can be traced to those areas. Harran feels like Turkey, Morocco, Greece, and India. The architecture feels Moorish, the bazaars of Old Town feel like Istanbul, the Slums and distant downtown feel like Mumbai, and the Countryside Town reminds me of Greece or even Southern Italy. I remember I spent a lot of time combing through Harran trying to find something to indicate where it was meant to be set. I know now that the majority of inspiration likely came from Turkey, specifically for Old Town, but the Slums look and feel like Rio De Janeiro and Mumbai combined. TL;DR - Great atmosphere. Great game. Great video. Liked and subscribed.
Omg I f....kn love this video it just gives me goose bumps. Haven’t looked at any of your vids yet but hope there are more of these. It just blows dl2 out of the water. Lv your vid perfectly presented
I really loved that feeling dying light gave me i would rush to a safe house and sleep immediately after hearing those beeps telling me night is coming..🤪
This gives so much nostalgia when I played it back 3 years ago. It gave a depressing feeling which I didn't want to be over. When not playing, it seemed Harran actually exists and I gotta go there soon, especially the countryside. Man I love this game. Thanks a lot for putting this video together.
Some of the best parts of the game are when you're running around during the day and you come across a survivor resting somewhere, if you talk to them they might give you some interesting conversations. I like the guy that says he owned all the ads in town, and tells you he was just a day too late to evacuate from the city. He has millions in the bank and it's all worthless to a dead man.
I've put more gaming hours into Dying Light than the whole of my gaming collection combined,...it's very addictive. And even though I am fully tooled up in weapons & stats, the sound of the approaching night still unnerves me every time. That & venturing into the many volatile nests in the Following dlc 😧
Ive never had a piece of media, game or movie, that makes me so anxious in the night phase this game does. I cant believe I got this for free on Epic, and I cant stop thinking about it, when Im not actually playing
Really solid video man. Keep up the great work. I love the Dead Island and Dying Light games. Would be cool to see you cover analyze the world of the other games.
This game is as precious to me as GTA San Andreas. It feels like Harran is home. I am now obsessed with post-apocalyptic cities now, thanks to this game. The second game is, by no means bad, but this game has a raw sense of apocalypse that, to this day, thrills me.
That's what I was thinking about the other day. The atmosphere truly is unrivaled and it's why the game will still have a cult following years from now even after DL2 has fizzled out
WOW How come you only have 557 subs you should have millions, your video is great very well put together and amazing voice over information. I have defiantly subbed and will visit your channel regularly, Keep up the great work and them millions will be on there way. 😊😊😊
You just put all my thoughts and feelings about this game into words. Also as serious as this game can be some the developer/easter egg weapons and equipment can be hilarious like the extraterrestrial chicken on a stick. I love that blueprint (I've always found it funny that cardboard is that effective) or that cutscene when you gather all the space rocks in the countryside. (Not saying what it includes for people who still haven't experienced it yet for themselves)
Very great video. You got aspects that could get you somewhere. The commentary and references are on point, with just a bit of fine tuning and more videos you can entertain a lot of people.
Thank you man that means a lot, I still realize that I have a lot to learn, hoping that with time I will be able to improve the quality of my videos more.
Just wanna say guys that the support on this video has been absolutely insane, never in a million years did I think it would have hit 38,000 views, when I uploaded this vid the channel was at 150 subs, we just hit 710 today. Thank you all so much, I was forced to miss uploading a vid last week due to irl stuff but there will be one out tomorrow, To those asking, yes I will do a video on dying light 2 once I play it, however I have to wait until I moveout into a new city and get settled in there, last thing I would want to do is rush playing the game and making the video and end up uploading something poor quality. Again thank you all so much, all of these nice comments are crazy to read.
DL1 has an atmosphere of dread, horror, and a dash of hope. Like you mentioned with the soundtrack its a rather soft soundtrack but it fits the tone so well and sets the mood the player should be feeling in the moment, I genuinely its one of the biggest factors as to why DL1 is just so pleasing with its atmosphere. DL2 on the other hand I personally feel is a great game and is becoming/became the successor to DL1 for its own reasons. Its atmosphere I feel is much more epic and really has that grand adventure tune to it, take its main menu theme for example. The game feels less of a survival experience and more of a skilled hero who battles monsters and villains and restores hope to all of vilidors/the loops citizens.
This game’s atmosphere was something else honestly… Not even Dying Light 2 could capture its feeling.

Then I did it and got the game in like 2017 or 18 and I haven't looked back. It's my favorite zombie game of all time to this day.
Night is coming
The calm before the Storm
knew about this game since launch, watched a full playthrough and didnt really forget about it just never bought many single player games up until recently and fuck me dead this game is a viiiiiiiibe man best one word explanation for it. Im gonna enjoy kncking out 250 legend levels
played through dead island for first time earlier this year then bought DL and thought holy fuck this is so similiar, then realised the devs ahaha
I can’t say I know much about Dying Light, but the way you describe this is so beautiful… I hope your channel gets the recognition it deserves! You’ve certainly just won yourself a follower.
Thank you so much I really really appreciate it!
This game is much more beautiful than dl2. The graphics, the movements, everything was better here.
Yes! Exactly! I've always found it hard to put into words exactly why this game's atmosphere felt so unique to me, and you've summed it up perfectly. Subbed.
Thank you very much man, glad you liked the video :)
"I'm yet to play Dying Light sequel but I do plan to and I can't wait to see how their game handles its atmosphere because it truly has a lot to live up to"
A words of a hopeful person who is about to be disappointed in so many ways...
Harran reminds me so much of my hometown Mumbai. I know Harran is a middle-eastern city based probably somewhere in eastern turkey, but the layout of the streets, buildings, the slums, the palm trees, the type of concrete used... All of this looks exactly like Mumbai.
I got this game in 2016 when I was 7 and that airdrop mission terrified the hell out of me
I was a bit older then you were when I first played that mission, but I remember it scared the hell out of me as well
@@GhostlyNest What about Days Gone? Another fantastic game
Bros 13 💀
Remember playing this game in 2015. So many memories attached 😢😢 I want that life back
I just came across your channel randomly and I must say you have an amazing voice and an amazing potential to be a great youtuber. Loved how much effort you've put into this and I'm honestly surprised to see your sub count. You definitely deserve hundred times more than what you have now. And I have no doubt you definitely will achieve success,. I wish you the best of luck!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot, hit a bump the other week that forced me to stop posting for a bit, but I should have a vid out tomorrow, again really appreciate your comment thank you!
The intro being a goddamn news broadcast is just a masterful decision!
This game aged like fine wine
I'm playing through it my second time in years with the 1975 postprocess filter enabled and I'm convinced this is the definitive way to play now. Climb that bridge and look at the city at night during a storm. IT'S A HELL OF A GRIND HOUSE VIBE.
Thank you for making this man!
No worries man had lots of fun, thank you very much for checking out my video :)
Dying Light is awesome
I ran around with the demo and was a bit shook but kept starting it up. I might have to buy the game based on the opening of this video alone.
Honestly I would recommend its a banger game
I spent the better part of a summer exploring the world of dying light and mastering it's mechanics. I have only good memories from that time.
The best video to watch at 3 am thank u for this and for making me wanting to replay dying light
Thank you man glad you liked it.
Man,this video felt like a masterpiece and just tha way you were explaining the stuff that was going on in Harran gave me chill.Keep it up!
One of the best videos about DL1 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Really enjoyed this video. Was a nice refresh and I reminisced about playing this all those days ago.
Excellent video and well said… makes me wanna boot it up and get lost all over again.
Absolutely loved this game💔 i want to go back to black ops 1 release date and do it all again exactly the same miss these games and the feelings/emotions аnd time so bad 😢
Fckin spectacular presentation brother, Dying Light will always have a special place in my heart.
I am playing DL1 after grinding DL2 for three months and I must say it is diametrally different experience, better combat, physics, world building, night time... Just played over 25 hours in three days
Great video! Your descriptions started to re-immerse me into the game even though it’s been ages since I’ve last played it. I’m looking forward to your take on dying light 2.
Thank you!
I really loved that feeling dying light gave me i would rush to a safe house and sleep immediately after hearing those beeps telling me night is coming..🤪
the slums looks like an area I grew up in
I LOOOVE videos that dive into atmosphere and worldbuilding thank you so much
I played this game on PS4 as I had no internet for a month. It was an awesome time 😊❤
I really enjoy concise reviews such as this one - nice work.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed :)
Dying light is one of my favourite games of all time
I miss this atmosphere and realism
Liked and subscribed, amazing quality for a small youtuber, and your video was very entertaining to listen to, keep up the good work man!!
Thank you very much that means a lot to me.
This game, especially at night is a pulse quickening, white knuckle ride. The details are indeed great. DL 2 is fun but the first is the best.
Play fallout 3
great video done sir, I couldn’t agree more. It has been my favorite video game and will probably be for a long time.
great video
Thank you!
loved the video awsome commentary keep it up!
Thank you!
Dying light made me cry when I beated it I mean seriously it was really good, I always come back to play it.
Great Video👍❤️
Thank you very much bro!
This was a great video with a well-written script! More videos like this will surely make your channel grow :)
That's what I was thinking about the other day. The atmosphere truly is unrivaled and it's why the game will still have a cult following years from now even after DL2 has fizzled out
i remember the first time i was playing i was so amazed with the atmosphere i just looked through the broken glass wall at the first mission
for a new youtuber honestly awesome content
Thank you so much, really appreciate it
WOW How come you only have 557 subs you should have millions, your video is great very well put together and amazing voice over information. I have defiantly subbed and will visit your channel regularly, Keep up the great work and them millions will be on there way. 😊😊😊
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it :)
Beautiful game! One of my all-time favorites!
Great video!
Thank you very much glad you liked it.
Hey thanks for making this. It’s nice to see so many other people still love and appreciate the setting
Glad you enjoyed :) means a lot to me to see other people enjoy something I have made
Very great video. You got aspects that could get you somewhere. The commentary and references are on point, with just a bit of fine tuning and more videos you can entertain a lot of people.
Thank you man that means a lot, I still realize that I have a lot to learn, hoping that with time I will be able to improve the quality of my videos more.
great video my guy, subbed.
it would be awesome getting a another video of you comparing DL2 to the first game, i could listen to your voice for ages
Haha thank you, honestly hearing my own voice is super weird.
This guy is highlyyyyy underrated
no one ever notices this but the city outside of harran, actually lights up at night in the slums background.
Nice job dude. 👍
Thank you!
I still play this game.. My favourite game of all time.
Very well done video, reminded me of why I love this game. And why the second doesnt compare imo.
awesome video man :)
I still play this game quite a bit. Its so much fun.
