@@terrencecox3748 6mm is .243”, not .264” (6.5mm). That’s what is giving him clearance, since some 5.56 cans are .280” bored through the baffles. That fractionally leaves you 0.037”/2 = 0.0185” if perfectly fractional with a true and square centered bore, threads, and shoulder. That’s really tight clearance, but can be done if set up with precision machining and a high-end can that doesn’t warp. Baffle strikes are more likely as the can heats up, especially if it’s of certain steel alloy construction with loose metallurgy.
My guy using his ENTIRE upper rail. There's 20-30k on accessories alone. SF has been using those taccom alpha prism flippies for a loooooong time. That is an old and beloved piece of kit.
6ARC is a fantastic round. The 6.5 Grendel is slightly better suited for shorter barrels, but the ARC will do the job well. I'd honestly dump all that crap for a straight thermal optic that allows for a top mounted dot and call it good. The great part about 6ARC, from a hand loaders perspective, is all the 6mm projectiles available. From 55 to 115 grains. I built an AR10 in .243 Winchester a few years before 6ARC came out, and I'm here to tell you... the 6mm round is exceptional for all use cases.
I was going to build a 6mm AR and had plans to do so dating back many years, but 6.5 Grendel does so well as it is, and hits the steel harder/louder. I have always had issues hearing the impacts from any 6mm (including Dasher) at 600-700yds and farther when we have full value winds of 7mph or greater. Impacts look anemic too when you’re spotting for any 6mm, which I have done for many years. I can shoot 107gr and 110gr in 6.5 Grendel, which is very flat, but still doesn’t hit the steel as hard as 123gr and 130gr. I shoot the 12” Grendel the most now, of my 7 different Grendels. The great thing about both cartridges is that you can spot your own hits through the optic without needing a spotter. This video shooting at 500yds doesn’t show the true fun out at distance. I rapid-fire on head-sized targets with 6.5 Grendel at 500yds. It becomes more fun when shooting from 600-1000yds.
I’ve always had the question of weapon mounted thermals or night vision units in regards to magnification. When you change magnification on your optic, aren’t you just zooming in on the “screen”/“image” of the thermal or NV and not necessarily the target? Although this question is coming from a guy that doesn’t own thermals or NVs but has used them. 6:43
Yes, and the quality suffers as a result, but generally remains usable to a point. There is also zoom on the thermal unit itself which can sometimes work better depending on the unit.
I finally got my SanTan lightweight billet upper and lower that my LGS put an order in 2 years ago, but we didn’t get the current sale price ($400 vs $600), to build a 6 ARC.
Or the 22 Nosler. Despite the 6mm ARC overtaking the 22 Nosler in retained velocity, it still falls prey to the higher muzzle velocity of the 22 Nosler, resulting in 2 MOA less muzzle drop at 1000 yards. We can also note that the 22 Nosler also is safely above the trans sonic range of 1200 fps at 1000 yards.
I was just looking for 6arc that were discussing self-defense/tactical use instead of hunting. Great video guys at the perfect time. Don't forget God loves
I keep hearing that with a case head bigger than that of a 5.55, a broken bolt is a matter of when and not if. Has that been worked out in these guns? I imagine it must be since it's a military program.
I am in the market to pickup a barrel to build my own upper. A few years back I had a 6mm turbo 40 degree built by Robert Whitley. I killed some deer and a bunch of coyotes with it. It packs a punch out to 500 yds. That thing was awesome but I had to go to a buddy to reload for it. I moved and it wasn’t convenient to get him to reload for me anymore. Now I reload and with this having factory ammo it’s going to be great.
Damn I’ve been on the waitlist for the 6arc barrel and y’all probably just added a lot more to it. I think this caliber makes more sense if you reload though. I started reloading last year and that’s the only reason I considered this over a standard .223
I really like the 6ARC, .264USA, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8SPC but they are all more or less the same thing but none of them will ever breakout of wildcat territory until they land a major military or LE contract.
I have an 18" 6.5 Grendel set up as sort of a specialty DMR. Good ammo is too expensive and Wolf ammo is too inconsistent for it to be a practical fighting cartridge. Which sucks, because it's a stellar eound for AR15 platform
FN's .264 llic cartridge is the answer... Basically a 6.5 grendel +P with a magazine and frame/bolt size system designed around the cartridge instead of the other way around... Magpul is producing the magazines specifically for the rifle and cartridge similar to their collaborative workd on the LWRCI six-8 rifle years ago... It's largely than an AR-15, but not by much, while being much lighter than most duty grade "AR-10" large frame guns... Basically barely still in the intermediate cartridge carbine format, but with the capability to fulfill longer range engagements and put more energy on close range targets fast without the weight and recoil penalties of a .308/7.62x51 or 6.5 Creedmoor caliber which the Army has shown with their new SIG project to be only a good DMR or specialty platform, not a true contender for replacing 5.56x45 on some scale without serious downsides that we already learned years ago 🙄 I like 6.5G and 6mm ARC, but they will always be cartridges at home in an AK (magazines and bolt size mainly) that were shoehorned into AR-15 pattern frames... I have an 18" DMR and a 16" lightweight carbine, I love them, but also know they are limited by AR-15 magazine well and pressure constraints, FN's new rifle/ammo/magazine system solves all of these issues, I just hope the cartridge is available for production licensing for other companies looking to produce rifles/components and use the Magpul mags... (knowing FNH this is unlikely, they don't like sharing or giving away their R&D money, even on failed projects 🙄)
I was just thinking of a short range thermal optic for home defense my house is really dark at night and I feel a flash light is just too revealing and disadvantageous from a defensive perspective
Hi DC Team! I haven't really commented on your videos in the past, but I decided that I wanted to share some knowledge with you, maybe even spark some content ideas? At my high school (I'm entering senior year) I am a part of the JROTC unit, which is a junior military unit (not hardcore. extremely laid back) and class that teaches many different skills. Some of the skills that I have learned while being in that unit, as this is my fourth year, is extremely valuable to me even at my current age. Something that would be cool to have a video on is teamwork and leadership skills. As examples, the 4 stages of team building, situational leadership, the difference between a leader and a boss, etc. I have other ideas, as well, but I can sometimes give floods of information and it can get overwhelming. I hope some of this info is interesting or valuable to you! I think, to build a resilient community, you need people who know how to lead and people who know how to effectively work as a team. I learned these things from JROTC and Boy Scouts, both programs I would highly recommend that people go check out.
If you wanted a mini clip on, the PoT Voodoo S would have been the better choice since its a more efficacious weapon sight. The lower FOV (15⁰ vs 22.4⁰ on the Skeet X) makes a massive difference on optical magnification support (more back end demag).
Rock Grendel until then. You can get cheap steel case Grendel for good prices. If ARC ever manages to become affordable all you need to swap is the barrel!
Nothing against Mac I dig what he's saying and his intentions and he works for Noveske which is BA. With that being said the 6.5 grendel is a beast that can already reach out and touch bad guys at distance. Why take the grendel case and replace the 6.5? For the military it's a no Brainer or atleast it shouldn't be! All you need is a barrel and bolt swap and you are shooting 6.5 in an AR or 6.5 creed in an AR10 plain and simple which the military usually likes. But who knows what the future holds. God bless
Specialized units tried the 6.5 Grendel and while it does throw more lead, it's time to target was similar to 5.56 and velocities weren't high enough to buck winds. 6 ARC shoots flatters, lighter, with higher velocities on target, and higher BCs.
The next gen of how we get you to part money for a rifle with rounds you can barely find on the battlefield. And thats going to leave you broke , plus the added bonus of the” i have too much into this rifle “, I’m scared to use it😂😂😂😂
Been shooting and filling my freezer(s) with my 20" and 12.5" 6.5 Grendel rifles (the superior and more versatile 6mm round) for over a decade... Nice to see all the Tacticool hipsters catching on to what us Hunters have been doing for a LONG time now.
I get this setup for sure but I still cant shake my mk12 mod h. Yes its probably less effective in many ways but its my got to for sure. Currently working on a 308 version with all the same pri hardware just scaled way up.
Mk 12 Mod H deserves 6.5 Grendel. 5.56 is just not very effective once you start getting out past 300yds. It hits hard within 200-300yds, but really falls off after that, is hard to hear hit the steel, has lots of wind deflection and wind-based elevation changes as well where I shoot at least. I abandoned the .308 guns long ago due to loss of sight picture every time you break a shot. I love the impacts on steel because they’re loud with 175gr and 180gr, but I want to be able to see my own hits. Weight and bulk of the gun is a major turn-off as well.
@@LRRPFco52yeah Im trying to get into more long range stuff and figured Id learn with something like that and make adjustments to caliber and platform if need be. With my personal kit I just never saw a reason to have a gun like that in my arsenal atleast until I moved where I live now where there is a ton of open areas and a lot of distance everywhere you look. And yeah the mod h isnt the best setup for the platform but man do I like it. Ill have to try some of these other calibers out but just haven't really been all that interested in it until trying to get into 308 and really researching whats out there and what it can do.
@@GrimRealityGroup I went through the AR-10 starting decades ago with ArmaLite, then DPMS, then going custom builds from GA Precision, and have worked on a lot of them to fix reliability and accuracy issues. I’ve owned 5 different AR-10s and still have 2 or 3 of them, 1 .260 Rem, 1 .308 Savage MSR-10, and another .308 SASS upper. 6.5 Grendel kinda killed my interest in .308 Win. It just behaves so much better, feels almost like shooting a 5.56, but sounds like 168gr .308 hitting the steel. Keep in mind that I wanted an AR-10 so bad since the 1980s, and never thought they would be available outside of the imported kits build on weird US receivers from Dutch ArmaLite parts. When KAC introduced the SR-25 in the late 1980s-early 1990s, I got very excited, but then the Clinton/Biden AWB was passed by communists in Congress and my hope of owning an SR-25K vanished. I got the first 24” AR-10T, glassed it with Leupold 3.5-10x44 LR/T, and that thing was a laser, but very heavy and cumbersome. I went to .260 Rem since I was shooting LR matches, and love that cartridge’s performance, but it eats brass in the gas gun (loose primer pockets) and breaks firing pin retaining pins if you push the performance. I started playing with 6.5 Grendel and slowly began to see the light with the ability to track your own sight picture and impacts, which is very hard to do with anything .308-based besides .243 Win. Now I have 7x 6.5 Grendels and shoot the 12” and 17.6” the most. 12” is my #1 reach-for package right now, suppressed. So fun.

@@3231bsln Precision Firearms loads 107gr SMK. After shooting a bunch of 100-110gr, I lean back on 123gr for that loud impact, but the flat trajectory of the lighter stuff is very noticeable to me at least.

I was definitely considering getting Noveske N4 14.5 6ARC

So you're running a .264 round through a suppressor that was designed for a .224 at most?
Why use this when they make .30 cal cans?
@@terrencecox3748 no 0.243
@@terrencecox3748 6.5 is 0.264.
What he's talking about with building the rifle around the barrel is why I went with WC and Blackout Defense
Lead sales for noveske. Mac is a killer that’s what I get from that. Mac is an animal in his free time. Respect that soft voice.
Noveske is the highest quality in the industry.
Noveske is the shit, and they are used by some very cool water dudes. I wish you guys could show more Noveske stuff.

@@dirty-civilian I kinda figured but thought I’d ask someone with more experience with than myself. Thanks.
Dope! Great intel well presented by some great young gents, solid work.
Nice information..Good job
I was just looking for 6arc that were discussing self-defense/tactical use instead of hunting. Great video guys at the perfect time. Don't forget God loves

I love videos with people who clearly have no idea what they’re talking about in them.
As an intel guy, I can't stress enough how smart it is to move towards passive, non-emitting systems.
Drew pinning the trigger back after every shot
I keep hearing that with a case head bigger than that of a 5.55, a broken bolt is a matter of when and not if. Has that been worked out in these guns? I imagine it must be since it's a military program.
I had no idea the Dirty Civ guys were so short!
I’ve been looking at the 22 arc as well
That Vortex scope solves this problem immediately
I love Mac’s PipBoy

Awesome. I built one with a Proof Research barrel.
I love my 6arc such a great shooter! Also fantastic with my new specters cat Noah can!
There are 2 (going on 3) programs of record currently. 6ARC will stick around.

That’s a really cool setup. I’d like to get into 6 ARC, but I’m waiting to see if prices come down.

Which Thermal optic and mount was he using? That setup was very streamlined and just what I was looking for.
I really like that set up!
6 ARC - got it... love it! All that other crap attached...ain't convince on all of it.
If you wanted a mini clip on, the PoT Voodoo S would have been the better choice since its a more efficacious weapon sight. The lower FOV (15⁰ vs 22.4⁰ on the Skeet X) makes a massive difference on optical magnification support (more back end demag).
Even as great as these are….I don’t think the majority of end users here are going to be able to cough up the +$15k for one of those.
Great channel guys.

Noveske needs to to do a CHF chrome lined 308 and a 6ARC barrel.
What was the clip on thermal shown? Rh25 maybe? Looked different
Checks out on paper 📃 ...but the ammo is not common enough yet for me to consider a 6arc yet 😅
Rock Grendel until then. You can get cheap steel case Grendel for good prices. If ARC ever manages to become affordable all you need to swap is the barrel!
I just wish the 18" barrel was in stock
Would be great to know the brand and model of this thermal, and this flip lense in front of scope
I am also interested in knowing that.

When they start selling exoskeletons, I'll carry that.

I use the old Barrett 6.8 SPC straight mags. They work flawlessly in my 6mm ARC. I don't know how available they are though.
The PRI 6.8 mags work great with the 6ARC as well
@@okienightstalker3145 Yessir. I use those too. They feed without any problems.
So fun.
Geissele makes a nice mags up to 30 rounds designed and built for 6arc and are straight not curved mags. The duramag 6.5 grendel mags are 100% also
And they want $100/each for them.

@@LRRPFco52didn't know that. Druid hill and who else for 107gr loadings? I can still find ppu. I don't reload, so I feel a bit limited.
