This is cool and informative but how is it done while it's inside the car?
You have to pull the center console trim. We have a video on that.
Are you letting the eboxy set in 4-6 hours or cure in 15-24?
You need to let the epoxy fully cure. You really want that drill guide to be adhered securely so that you can center drill the pin to exactly 5/16.
And how long after can you drive the car with the epoxy going in the first gear getter?
After it fully cures. It's really all there in the video.
How deep does it need to be drilled? Just enough to remove the rivet head?
Yes
I am looking for this exact first gear getter (the white peice of plastic replaced by that black one) for skoda octavia and i am struggling fo find it in the UK or anywhere, please help me get one or 2 of those? Thank you
Shipping to the UK is no problem.
Why not just center punch it before drilling it?
The 5/16 inch hole must be perfectly on center and on axis with the pin. This is best accomplished using a fixture, hence we supply the drill guide.
@dieselgeekdotcom so no need to drill in to the bell crank also? Thanks for getting back
You need to drill it using the drill guide and the 5/16 in drill bit until the bell crank releases EXACTLY as we show in the video.
