Of course he is roped into being the temporary Little League coach for pouty lipped waif Alex Handris and hi jinks ensue.
Ridiculous episode made charming by Michael Lembeck and little Damon Riskin.
It’s so funny cuz I watched this as a 12 year old and never thought anything of Max and now I’m in love with him LOL

Michael Lemveck was a great actor . Too bad he had to be written out the first time MacKenzie Phillips was let go.
Don't feel too bad, he went on to direct a number of TV shows--most notably 5 seasons of "Friends".

He was a regular character in the final season, even after Mackenzie was fired the second time.
McKenzie was a mess and I think that she's a fine example of how whomever you bring into your life affects it one way or another so be careful who you bring into your circle.
He was in the show alot. He had a lot of episodes when Julie left the dentist and the bedtime story. He was in a lot of episodes

We could have done without this kid's story line...
I never liked him in anything. Especially The Love Boat. Just rubs me the wrong way but I can't really say why. He has a punch me face. 😅

This was filmed early in the seventh season (23:42 was Valerie's main opening credit shots - you'll see it in closing credits on the left at 26:01 at and in the opening credits on the right at 26:11). The young man is Glenn Scarpelli playing the part of "Alex Handris", the son of Ann's once-boyfriend Nick Handris (played by Ron Rifkin) from season six. Ron Rifkin left the show in 1981. Glenn's character was so popular at the time that they kept him on with the storyline that his mother and remarried to a man who traveled too much and would not be in one place long enough for him (schooling, etc.).

@@millenniumman75 Actually the actor who played Ann's boyfriend wasn't fired from the show he died before the next season and the Alex character was so popular that they kept him on the show.
@@hallnelson2897 Ron Rifkin is still alive, though. He left the show and they put in the drunk driver story to explain it.

Season 7 - it was one of the first filmed but didn't until toward the end of the seaason.

@@Asukenick The opening credits of season 7 had shots from this episode, which means it would need to be among the first filmed of the season. This episode didn't air until the spring of 1982.

@@Asukenick There were opening credits shots (Bonnie's) from that episode, yes. Hardball, I believe, was third. Airport was second. It also had shots used in the opening credits.
