How to use the Samsara driver app if you are an employee of Double D Distribution. This will show you how to read the summary screen, change your duty status, do an inspection at a port or roadside, edit your logs, and certify your logs.

This is great content! Straight to the point and easy to understand instructions. Can I use this video for training my co-workers how to use Samsara?
Yes just for a small fee of $1M....just kidding of course you can use it, as our channel says we create this videos so we as drivers can focus on working and making money instead of being slowed down by little inconveniences.

How do I go in time exempt
There are a number of things that have to be enabled in the portal online. So if you have access to that you need to enable that. If you don't you would have to require your carrier to activate it for you. I assumed you are talking about treating it like a time card right?

Yes you can
So there's no way to see you split deeper time without going into driver on duty?
Correct, it is not a good thing. Luckily, I have spoken to many people at Samsara and they are coming out with an update this summer that will make it so you can check a box and it will tell the log to calculate using the split sleeper rules. So we are really looking forward to that.
Does this app has recap hours?
Yes of course, it has to in order to be certified to be an ELD provider. We have multiple guys that like to run using recap.

My doesn't show pc what's going on there
So it has to be enabled on the company side. So if have access to that you just need to go to settings > drivers > click on your name > edit > scroll down and enable personal conveyance. If you don't have access then you need to ask whoever does to enable it for you.
You should have taught DVIR also.

Peoplenet is way better. Even on certified logs, it let you edit them. You can also log out of the vehicle and remain on duty. I don't see that option in Samsera.
We only slightly demo'd people net. However all the functions you mentioned are available in Samsara. We don't care which system you use though, this is just here to help train those who do have to use Samsara to make things easier for them.

@@robles100 They can't be edited by the driver, but the office can edit them and then the driver gets to approve them. I've used 4 different e-log systems and that was the same for those as well. But perhaps people net doesn't?

Haha that is funny, but if the app is giving you issues you just have to sign out and sign back in. I have my employees call me sometimes saying, "I have restarted the app... I shut my phone off and turned it back on....I turned off wifi and turned it back on..."
No the only thing that resets it if you are having issues is just sign out and sign back in. And this has always worked without exception for us.
When at the shipper or receiver waiting to get loaded or unloaded should I be off duty or on duty ?
On duty. Ur still on duty if ur waiting for a load or unloading. If your truck has a sleeper berth, you could use that option to buy you more time if u need it though. Don't go off duty though.
When at a shipper or receiver you want to show some on duty time for checking in and out etc. Afterwards you can go to sleeper birth.

Very bad programming and very bad tutorial. Clearly no trucker input when programming. Not productive for driver not productive for truck company. No tutorial online and no help
I don’t know what other logging systems you have used but we sure like this one compared to others. We wish we were back on paper but at our trucking company we felt this program was a big improvement from what we had before. I’d be interested to know which ELD platforms you find the easiest to use?
Blue Tree is the best elog out there..
