Saw this on their website, and was hoping agora picks it up because i knew hatchette doesn't send to the US. But now i'm happy to find out they will for this. Thats awesome.
This will be a fun build to follow. I have the 1:48 Trumpeter version of this U-boat. The aftermarket photo etch brass adds a lot of great details. I have added lights but no motors for movement or speakers for sound.
Yep @Spacejunk55 is right the top 2 torpedo doors need to be switched Wayne you probably already did that but I just got home from work and watched the video. So far there’s quite a number of detail parts in this build nice
Wayne, when the torpedo tube shutters (doors) are pulled *into* the centerline, they are open. Fully extended, they merge with the hull and are closed. It also looks like your port upper door may be ?switched? with the starboard one -- the doors should sit flush with the hull when closed.
Wayne, I think you have the motor upside down. The instructions made special note about having it right, and in all the photos, it is towards to top of the boat.
Was really looking forward to this one. Built a rc model of it years ago. But at 140 issues i think i might have to pass on this one. Love my dream through your channel 😢
I could be wrong, but the fit of the upper torpedo doors seems off. I think the upper right door is on the left side of the hull and vice-versa for the upper left door. The doors should be flush with the hull when closed and they are not.
Now this build really grabs my attention. It's a strange scattered way of building it though. From the bow to the midships with nothing in between. I have a plastic cutaway model of this same class of submarine I built years ago. It was produced by Revell. I'm looking forward to comparing them. The model I have nowhere near this scale though. It does have crew though.😊😊😊
I wouldn't worry about scratching and scuffing the hull, once complete, you'll be able to 'go to town' on the weathering... and I'd leave off any small detail parts, like the AA gun until much further into the build, so as to avoid damaging them whilst manipulating the part built model.
Fun Fact the U in U-boat stands for Unterseeboot translate Under Lake Boat so you know what it does 😅 they are up to issue 57 in Germany according to Hachette Germany website . Great Video as always Wayne
Hi Wayne. I have just ordered this. Can you tell me what size screwdiver (s) are required as i would rather not use the one supplied with the kit.? Thanks
Lol, with those comments about the torpedo doors, going back thought u said heres the door labelled UR and u put it on the left🤪 lol Hopefully u got it sorted, bet that took u time to dismantle it to reverse the top doors and screw it all back again!
I was just wondering how this particular release differs from the U-96 Hachette from about 10 years ago (I think)? Anyone know the differences? or is it simply a re-release? Thanks...
@@WorldofWayneUK Ah, that'll be a major upgrade then, thanks...I assume the previous one was basically all plastic...I will definitely stick with this one then. Just a shame that the build guides are download only, and not physical copies...but it looks great!
What’s happened to the Lancaster build? Love to find out how difficult you’re going to find this one to order another issue because of the metal pins going missing everywhere.
There is a lot on the conning tower I do not understand. The "aa" gun should be on the big round circle and what you have now is the base for the periscopes. And I do not understand the hatch, It should be able to open completely and they way you put it, it will bang aginst the fragile periscopes.
Wayne, so my first delivery for this kit arrived. I think they just slapped it together, it didn't come in a box but a soft package didn't come with instructions, had to print them. And it was also missing the torpedo tube door hinge pins. Well, it was missing one hinge pin, this is preventing me from assembling the breast of that stage, and joining the two hull pieces together. I sent an email to Hackett... I am just wondering if you are aware of anyone else having similar issues? Is there a way to expedite missing parts other than going directly through Hachette? I went online looking for anybody who is selling that particular stage, but the kit is so new that no one's really selling anything like it Anyway, sorry to bother you with this but I figured if anybody would be familiar with this, it would be you. Thanks.
@@WorldofWayneUK oh, OK. That's interesting, and good to know. I was under the assumption that shipments were similar to Fanhome. See? This is why I asked, lol. OK, well thanks a bunch. I appreciate it.
Hi Wayne. With all your connections with Agora do you think they will take on this build as they are the only company that ships to Canada? Thanks Wayne
Did you get the ISS partwork yet Wayne? I’m hyped for it but haven’t ordered until I’ve seen your series start. Wondering what you think of it when you start building.
@@WorldofWayneUK thank you, soon will order wera screwdrivers and sprue cutters, any other tools you think be handy to use for this build to start me off?
I think the upper doors is upside down... after folding it, You can clearly see that it doesn't fit properly. PS. As always, I enjoy watching models being assembled.

I think you have the top 2 torpedo doors around the wrong way. This is much better than the previous release a few years back. Great vid again Wayne.
I was wondering that too, either those doors fit very very badly or they are the wrong way in :D
Just what I was going to suggest.
Not so much the wrong way. The wrong side
@@adammorrison2009 Exactly
Maybe the upper left and upper right torpedo doors are swapped and upside down?

Down Periscope with Kelsey Grammar is brilliant. It’s like hot shots on a sub 😂
Ask any USN Sailor and they will tell you that it's the most accurate Navy movie period.
That mechanism for the doors is pretty slick. This is going to be a cool build.
Hi Wayne that’s a lovely model I’ve subscribed thanks for building this 👍👍👍
I'm so happy to see that you've chosen to build this. I'm a SubVet seriously considering doing this build.

I absolutely love this build. I noticed similarities to Bismarck too. Amazing model so far!
What an amazing start to this build U96 U Boat, I am now considering subscribing for this. What an great video

Looking like a fun build. I'm just thinking of all the painting I'd end up doing on the interior... could be a big project...
Pete UK. I built the Revell version in large scale. I spent 3 months drilling all the flood holes out with a 0.5mm dill…. But it did improve model.
C´mon Wayne.. Upper doors. Start from the beginning. And make it look good and smooth. You should have eye for details by now.
Lol my eyes are getting older as is my brain 😆😆😆

Yep. We are doing that as a part of the next Sprueverse Challenge

U96 is the U Boat from the 1981 TV Series / Movie " DAS BOOT " ...
Great movie too.
