I've been watching this thing on a loop. I swear, I am amazed everytime that I watch it. It gives me goosebumps repeatedly, and the first time I actually felt the breath leave my body. Absolutely beautiful. The original was gorgeous too, but there is something so RAW and vulnerable about the way Brian sings it. Just beautiful.
After all these years of feeling so much for placebo, both the love and the disappointment (not so much disappointment, that's life, people move on, bands move on), this makes me so happy. It reminds me that he really is exceptional. Knew it.
This is talent! He makes the song come alive. And updates it for a modern audience (not least by speeding it up a little). Bowie's lyrics are fabulous and very evocative.

I don't think this is ruining Bowie. I admire the guy for his taste and for giving it a shot. I love new renditions of classic songs. I think the singer is sincere and loves Bowie as much as any of us. Hats off. Problem is, it's just not very good.
Brian really pulls this off so well, one of the best Bowie covers I've ever seen. I think he really nails what to include and how to build up toward that climax at the end.
