@@ilovekitkat7857 Cars cost the same everywhere in the US. It was actually cheaper for me to drive from South Carolina to California to buy a car and drive it back. @@GeographyKing was it really though.... you would have had to take time off work which actully cost you money. Plus now you added how many miles just to have it in your driveway when you could have just bought a demo.
@@anthonypsantos Yes, it really was. Not everyone has the exact same 8-5 M-F job. I had no problem with time and it was 2,000 miles driving to get a car that had low mileage. The Z I bought in Florida required a 90 minute/under $100 flight, then purchase, then a 6-hour drive back to save over $1,000 for a comparably equipped one in TN. These are no-brainer decisions. Kamryn Mcdougall I’m having such a hard time thinking about letting go of it. Really it is an incredible car- simple, reliable, scary, surprisingly rigid and tight, and manual with 660hp.
Anomaly Detection Algorithm I like the P100D as well, but it’s not traditionally sporty looking. Another issue that I see a lot of commenters bringing up is the fact it’s a hybrid, which for me is actually a plus since I drive hundreds of miles at short notice pretty frequently. I’d rather stop and fill up evrey now and then then wait and supercharge (but that’s me being impatient and it’s probably not a bad thing safety wise that Tesla forces you to take a 20-30 min break evrey few hours).
Found a fisker here in Italy yesterday,I immediately looked it up since it looks so strange, fun fact here it wasn’t sold as the “Karma” but rather “Revero”
Because the Chinese company that bought Fisker automotive is now called Karma Automotive. When it was Fisker automotive the model was called Karma which is the equivalent for the Karma Revero.
Back when the car was still in the process of failing there was a company doing conversions where they removed the hybrid drivetrain and swapped in a 556 hp LSA V8 (the one that powered the second generation CTS-V). Not sure how much weight was lost by the conversion but the Cadillac was heavy too and that engine was capable of transforming it into a legitimate performance car. Anyway they called the result the "Destino" and you can find videos of it here on RUclips. Edit: Different articles are saying different things, maybe they used the LS9 instead? Or both at different times depending on availability? In any case that engine was a bit more powerful so even better.
'Uusikaupunki' means 'New City'. And there were also built classics like Opel Calibra, Porsche Boxster and Cayman, Mercedes A and GLC. And a lot of Saabs..
I remember back in early 2013, my neighbors bought one of these. I thought it was the coolest looking car on the planet, such a stunning design. And man that’s a bargain! Why would anybody buy a new car when you can have this amazing beast?!!
Seems as though the manufacturers didn’t actually take time to craft this beautiful car’s interior functionality and focused more on the design of the outside 🤦🏽♂️
Fisker technically still exists, they were bought out by a chinese billionaire. I used to work for one of the factories that produced suspension parts for their front end. It was a couple years after they filed bankruptcy that the company finally received payment owed and what parts we still had in storage were to be shipped overseas to the new owners storage.
One quirk that I don't think was really covered well: The Karma is a series hybrid. The gas engine isn't directly connected to the drivetrain. It runs a generator that can charge the battery and/or provide current directly to the all-electric drivetrain.
The Valmet Automotive factory in Uusikaupunki (literally "New city") started out originally as a Saab plant. They built ie. all Saab Convertibles up to 2002, Porsche Boxsters and are currently making Mercedes models.
The Karma is not built like a Prius. The gasoline engine is never connected mechanically to the wheels. It only drives a generator to charge up the battery or to power the electric motors directly. The two electric motors are the ones that move this car. Doug was being very vague about this fact even to the point that I think he didn't do his research.
My biggest gripe with the scoring is how he rates pretty much 99% or more of cars that exist as 1/10 on acceleration. Sure they aren't supercars, but I feel like the bar is set a bit too high. A typical Honda Civic should at least score higher than a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Stop watching because of stuff like that. That sort of brain misfiring rubs me the wrong way. Blows credibility. He's a fun passionate guy but all I see is an anorexic mouse trying to spin a wheel in his head
I had a Calculus tutor in high school that worked for Fisker and he brought over a pre-production Fisker. It was white like this one, and had a laptop plugged in and a bunch of wires exposed. I thought it was a sweet idea and couldn’t wait for it to come out. Fast forward to valeting during college: finally get to drive the Fisker Karma... holy smokes does it feel awful to drive. From the sounds it makes, to the strange driving feel, to the awfully awkward braking. I assume the later model years got a lot better... I hope
I live in West Hollywood and for months I've been seeing a Fisker Karma all over the place and then I recently learned that Henrik Fisker himself lives in West Hollywood! There are also billboards all over LA hyping the Fisker Ocean which is their all-electric everyday passenger vehicle. It's a shame they never got the time to develop a new version but glad to see they've rebounded, can't wait to see what they do next.
I love this car. After all these years, I still do. Henrik Fisker is launching a new project as of this posting, and I'm a shareholder....probably much to my own chagrin.
And here we are in May of 2024, the stocks are worth a nickel and Fisker is once again circling the drain. I too, have hope for its survival, because I have a bunch of shares of that stock :D Plus the Ocean is a great car and just needs a few more software updates to be a solid offering.
I have to say I love everything about this car. It so unique. I found one in the UK in grey and looks amazing. For 40k. Tan and brown interior it's impeccable.

I was astounded how bad it was for an acura that wasnt all that old.

Some random guy showed up in my appartments in one of these while I was leaving the house. I kept looking at the car wondering if it was an Aston Martin. The guy saw me looking and told me about it. He said he will never buy a car from a small manufacturer again. Nothing but problems with his.
Fun fact: The city name (where the karma was made) in Finland is Uusikaupunki and it literally means Newcity... 30km from where i live

BMW Guys: “Only 60% depreciation? That’s pretty good!”
I think these cars are around the $30K but since this is California, everything is more expensive.
@@ilovekitkat7857 Cars cost the same everywhere in the US. It was actually cheaper for me to drive from South Carolina to California to buy a car and drive it back. Even with gas from the trip and all, I paid the same as I would have in SC for the same car. Same in Tennessee. I wasn't able to find a car ( 2016 370Z) for a good price. I flew one way to Florida to buy it and then drove it back.
And what is a "demo"?
@@GeographyKing Thats great to see that you actully did work it all out! I was more in disbelief then anything. I worked in the industry for a few years. A few times I ran into this but still was able to work it lower then the customer could. A "Demo" a vehicle that the dealership either specifically uses for its test drives or a vehicle that uper managment or top level sales people have driven. There new vehicles with no sales history the dealership can "lease" these to there employees and just pay a tax credit to do so. Thus in turn you get a new vehicle with some mileage but get the dicount of a used vehicle!

I think it’s quite unique but boi do I love shelbys!
Kamryn Mcdougall I’m having such a hard time thinking about letting go of it. Really it is an incredible car- simple, reliable, scary, surprisingly rigid and tight, and manual with 660hp.
Anomaly Detection Algorithm I know and the GT or S trim is looking great
Anomaly Detection Algorithm I like the P100D as well, but it’s not traditionally sporty looking.
Doug have been self-quarantining at CNC Motors for the last two weeks.
“You go in and curl your fingers up”... THANK YOU, FOUND THE G-SPOT
Lmao 😂😂
Wow very useful the fam
HAHAHAAAA. Yup
That is a long ass hood for a two litre four cylinder engine.
The engine is tiny and its an electronic mess... Brought 1 and 1 week later it jus didnt turn on
fit a fucking V12 under that making 800 hp and this car would be actually cool. instead of stupid small engine and small electric range.
Like a car with that much engine space reminds me a of a K car from the eighties. Huge hood, and fits a 2.2L engine in it. That makes about 96hp.
You still need space for clutch and gearbox right?
I actually find this car very interesting and maybe is something I would like to have in my garage in the next few years

Valmet Automotive in Finland also used to build the Porsche Boxster, Cayman. They still manufacture the Mercedes A-Class and GLCs.
Is that how foreigners say this states name. Good to know. ;)
What was it like working for them?

One quirk that I don't think was really covered well: The Karma is a series hybrid. The gas engine isn't directly connected to the drivetrain. It runs a generator that can charge the battery and/or provide current directly to the all-electric drivetrain.
Well that sounds inefficient
@@derrickstorm6976 range extender hybrids are surprisingly more efficient, as the ICE can run in its most efficient state most of the time
@@simonhill6267very interesting!
Jussi Raitoniemi still will get around 35 mpg.
So basically it's a petrol-electric vehicle
The Valmet Automotive factory in Uusikaupunki (literally "New city") started out originally as a Saab plant. They built ie. all Saab Convertibles up to 2002, Porsche Boxsters and are currently making Mercedes models.
Interesting, thanks for the info!
CNC: Were gonna close our marketing departments. Investors: what why? CNC: look in the parking lot 👉
Lol 🤣
The Karma is not built like a Prius. The gasoline engine is never connected mechanically to the wheels. It only drives a generator to charge up the battery or to power the electric motors directly. The two electric motors are the ones that move this car. Doug was being very vague about this fact even to the point that I think he didn't do his research.

Yeah, he also raved about the Vibe GT in his review, and then gave it a low score.
The way he scores cars is never consistent.
