Thanks so much! She was taking it in food, but is now refusing. I had to start administering manually and she just kept spitting it out. The medication has given her major dry mouth so no matter how deep i got it... she was able to maneuver it out. The water and throat rub tips helped us so much!❤
I hear you there, we have a 15lbs rat 😆 I'm telling you that Chihuahua knows you are going to give him a pill, now the big boy, well a bit of ground beef he swallows that thing so fast that he doesn't know he just had a meatball it didn't had the time to go past all the tastebuds
I have a small dog that presently is suffering from Idiopathic Vastibular Disease. When I pry her mouth open and put the pill deep in to her mouth and as far down her throat as possible somehow she moves her tongue around and is able to push it out. If I crush the pill and add liquid and syringe it into her mouth she gets so much saliva and foam she's able to have it all run out of her mouth. I also can't get her to eat and same thing.. cannot even syringe broth into her as it and loads of saliva just run out of her mouth.
My 12 year old dog had an awful episode and was diagnosed with the same as yours. Having a hard time with giving meds. Enlisted a friend to help. Meds are - motion sickness, nausea and a sedative to help calm. Then wait and see. Symptoms are supposed to improve within 2 to 3 days. Don’t know what caused it. Doctor says old age. I’ve never known a dog to have this awful issue. Were your meds any different? How is your dog now?
My poor guy has cancer on one side of his mouth and loves peanut butter but now is getting all these pills out of the PB. We are struggling with getting the pills in him. Any advice would be appreciated.
I found another way, by accident. There seems to be a little "pocket" directly behind the last tooth? I just make sure the pill goes directly behind that last tooth. And she can't spit it out. So she just swallows it! So far, this has worked on Maltipoos and Huskies. 🐶❤👍 I am ofcourse NOT any kind of pet medical professional. I'm just sharing what worked for me.
My little dog is a recent rehome who is a very reactive dog at the moment. He is having surgery and I have to give him pills while he is fasting for the surgery and no amount of reassurance - as I know it of course will make this possible. What can I do
Hi Linz, we suggest contacting your surgeon to ask their advice on what they like their patients to follow. For example, some surgeons may allow a small amount of peanut butter or a pill pocket. But, do ask your pet's doctor first. Thank you!
My grandma has to do this for her elderly dog that’s in heart failure, but since my grandma can’t move fast enough, her dog is able to snap her jaw closed while my grandma is trying to push the pill down her throat. She is a very squirmy dog. I wish I could be there to help but I’m in vet school currently so I can’t be there. I just haven’t been able to find any options for one person to pill a small squirmy dog. My grandma isn’t very strong and of course we don’t want her to get bit. No matter what she does to disguise the pill or wrap it in anything, the dog will not take it
Hi Erica, we understand that some dogs may be tougher than others to get them to take their pills. We would recommend your grandma reaching out to her primary veterinarian to discuss this issue. Thank you!

Hi Nessuh, that's great to hear! We're glad our video helped you. 😊
It doesn’t work when you have a stubborn crafty dog that is wise to your sneaky ways. Speaking from experience 😑
Back of the throat does. Feels bad but id rather know my dogs getting required medication than not feel a bit bad.
@@DAN.eight6I’ve learned different ways. I will stuff that pill if they want to be stubborn about it.
This didn’t help me.my dog knows the smell of the pill no matter what I disguise it with and bites me if I try to force it in.

My dog manages to eat the treat but spit the pill
