You probably won’t see this but this really changed my life with giving my girl her meds🙂 I got so tired of shoving pills down her throat she would run from me and try to hide it broke my heart.....SO THANKS!!!!
Thank you for this information juliesreborn1. I just had to give my Boston his Trifexis and I've hidden it every possible way and I failed. So, I decided (bright me!) that I would cut it in half, get his baby sister tempt him to take it and NO WAY! So, I have chronic back issues and after several and I mean several attempts, it worked but I can't do this every month. Ace does the same, runs and then closes that mouth shut. I can't wait to try it Ms. Becky's way. You helped me alot!
Y’all this works! My dog was previously taking the pill pockets without any issues but, all of a sudden, he started refusing them. I tried everything: peanut butter, cold cuts, putting the pill in the back of his throat, etc. and he just kept spitting it out. Taking one pill became an all-day struggle. I tried this tonight thinking I have nothing to lose and, to my surprise, it worked like a charm. Thank you for this video!
I was skeptical that my pup would be remotely interested in cream cheese. To my amazement this trick worked ! Not for two weeks, instead the rest of his life due to congestive heart failure. Very appreciative for the advice :)
My dog just had 24 teeth extracted and I was worried about inflicting pain if I used the traditional method of pushing the pill to the back of the throats and holding the muzzle. I tried pill pockets and cheddar cheese. My dog would detect the pill every time. Your trick was perfect! You saved me and my dog a lot of unnecessary pain. Thanks so much! The next 10 days should go much better!
I had to search and find your video again to thank you for this. This really works, and works well folks. Shockingly well in fact. My dog has to take 4 very large and bitter tasting pills for three weeks. I tried many other techniques and masking foods before this. Some would work a couple times. But my girl would always eventually figure out that those pills were inside and spit them out. But the cream cheese, she swallows in one gulp. The cream cheese does seem to hide the pill and its smell and taste well. My girl will gulp a covered pill down almost immediately. Again, thank you so much!
Oh Man I have been fighting with my dog to give him medicine and it was a chore twice a day. We just tried this, for his morning meds and worked like a charm. Thank You Becky. I love you. You made my day so much easier.
Thanks so much, Becky! I was worried after the first time I tried to get my Rescue, Tyson to take his antibiotic. It became a battle, and I was worried about damaging the trusting bond we were developing. As you suggested I gave him a few small bits of cream cheese to see if he liked it. YES! Then he gulped down his two pills wrapped in cream cheese one after the other. What a blessing!
When I first started watching this I figured you were going to use a little pill. Seeing that green capsule elevated my hopes as my dog was taking the exact same antibiotic. Your method with the cream cheese worked just as you said it would. Thank you SO much!!!
Becky you are a life saver! My dog (he is a yorkie mix, so he can sniff anything) needs to take antibiotics and would not take them. Putting it on his mouth was impossible as he will always push it out and I tried using different foods and wouldn't work. I gave him the cream cheese and he immediately loved it, pill gone in!
Thank you for posting this!! It's brilliant. Our family just got our first dog last week, and he needed his monthly flea pill today. I was SO concerned about how to get him to take it, but this made it ridiculously easy.
You are a lifesaver! My old chihuahua has intervertebral disk disease and due to pain in her neck I can’t pill her in the traditional way. This method worked like a charm! Who would have guessed?!! Thank you so much!!!!
What a great idea, my wife could for a while and I have no patience, and today, I found your way and now, it is so fun to give her meds. Thank you so much.
My current dog is not my first. I thought I knew all the tricks. This has truly changed our lives. Pill time is now (in puppy's mind) treat time! What a transformation from two puppy parents preparing for battle to get the pills down! You win the puppy Nobel Peace Prize!
Words cannot express how much I appreciate this. It's the only thing my dog will eat and not find the pills. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
I just came across your video yesterday, and I really need to thank you! Our dog needs to take meds twice a day, and every day it was a wrestling match … trying to open his mouth and shove it in because he detects pills in EVERY food. BUT the cream cheese trick totally worked! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve made my life so much easier! 🙌🏻💗
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!🙌 My frenchie just recently had a surgery and he can smell the pill when we mix it with his food, smart dog. I tried ur way and its easy as pie. Thanks again 🖒
Thanks for this. It worked for 1 of my dogs who will not take his Trifexis. It did not work on the other, she is is no fool. She ate cream cheese spit out the pill. 😂
If your dog is so sick it won't eat, then your vet will most likely just give you a suppository version to stick up their butt or you can crush it and put it in water
Hi Marvin, my dog is so sick that she won't eat even chicken breast. She won't take pill pocket, peanut butter, mozarella cheese, can food...nothing. I will give it a try to the cream cheese tomorrow. Right now I have to crushed the pill, put 4 drops of water and force it down using syringe.
@@peypeyneekin my pup was not eating for two days and we're very worried. she doesn't eat anything and i tried to give her pills but she just spits them out.
Oh my goodness. I have been struggling with my dog for six years to give him a pill. Why didn’t I come to your channel sooner! It was a miracle I don’t know why I never thought of cream cheese because he loves it. Thank you thank you!
You are a God send Becky! I was at my wits-end trying to figure out how to get my Shepard to take her horse-pills and your cream-cheese trick worked!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! I will be a forever follower 💌
I would be too chicken to ever put my hand in a pit bull's mouth. I remember a truck driver who told me that their jaws develop something like 10 tons of pressure. No sir! Not me! That would be like putting my head in a lion's mouth.
OMG !!! You are a lifesaver !!! I have a Cocker spaniel and the pill looks exactly like the one you show. It was horrible trying to give her pills. My husband and I would argue whose turn it was. We had to gob the pill with peanut butter and shove to the back of her mouth. I was as traumatized as she was. I tried this with bated breath. IT WORKED !! BLESS YOU, BLESS YOU , BLESS YOU.
Well this worked wonderfully! My dog could maneuver even half a pill to side of her mouth no matter how you held her mouth, blew, watered, it came out the side all wet and falling apart.
Thank you so much for this video my dog got really stressed holding his mouth, we use the cream cheese straight down. You're wonderful. People like you really help on RUclips. Thanks again.
4 years later I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH, this actually works!!! My gsd boy is so picky but with the cheese (he never had it before)...sooo different, I gave him a first ball with nothing inside of it, no pills...he was a little suspicious at first but then ate it and the rest of the balls with the pills, he literally just swallowed them, i'm so happy!! So thank you again, i send you all a big hug from Chile ❤
excellent! my jack russell figured it out in a couple of days like you said. was trying to figure it out and found your site. tried it and it worked. thank you so much. I even had some cream cheese in the fridge. saved my fingers too. she is not a dog you want to force feed. thank you again.
You are a genius! I adopted a GSD mix from a shelter. Brought her home after her spay surgery. She wouldn’t eat her food, peanut butter or hot dogs, only a bit of string cheese. She is suppose to eat before one of the medications. I watched your video and ran to the store to pick up cream cheese. OMG, it worked! I wish I had known this years ago. Thank you so much.
This worked like a charm! My German shepherd was too smart and stubborn and would always spit out the pill even through peanut butter! This however worked on the first try! You’re a life saver!
OMG! I LOVE YOU!!!! I watched several videos with useless advice for me and my chihuahua. THEN in my casual watching, You Tube recommended yours and IT WORKS! It really works! I was wrestling wth my poor little dog, traumatizing him trying to pry his little jaws and jamming it down his throat! I would tell this to every dog owner I know!
I know I’m really late but I’m a first time dog mom so I have done research EVERYWHERE, this method actually works!!! I’m too much of a Marshmallow to stick the pill down Coco’s throat, I’ve wasted so many pills trying to mix them in, only to have her leave them aside!!! Thank you so much, years later and this method is still effective!!! 🙌🏾👍🏾
Wow Becky! Thank you so much! My mastiff just had surgery and I was going crazy just trying to get her to take at least her antibiotics, never mind the pain pills. We tried to vet trick unsuccessfully (should have known when the vet couldn't even do it) and everything type of meat, spread, and sliced cheese. Then I came across this video and it worked like a charm! She swallowed every pill! Thank you again! Your a lifesaver!
Thank you Becky. My little buddy was giving me all types of troubles with his pills. He just had a major surgery and I have 4 different pills I need to give him. I couldnt get him to take a single one. This tip was exactly what I needed and will make his recovery much smoother. I instantly got 3 of the 4 down and dont anticipate too much trouble with the last one. I really appreciate you sharing this.
Thank you so much! I have an Italian mastiff and she was noootttt having the pills. In any way shape or form. I tried pill pockets, peanut butter, bread, meat, anything. She would move it all around her mouth until the pill popped out and drool EVERYWHERE. This worked like a charm!
And I tried holding her head up, putting the pill all the way down in there, holding her jaw shut and blowing in her nose. She would just hold it there til I let her go. And shed spit it out 🤦🏽♀️
OMG! Thank you so much for this advice! I had just about given up giving my pup medication, and I ran across your video. Cream cheese works! Thanks again!
Thank you Becky. This is such a game changer. My very docile sheltie hated having that pill shut down her throat. It became a very uncomfortable daily battle. I could not find any way to hide it in her food where she wouldn't spit it out. This is such a game changer. She loves the cream cheese she just gobbles it down and then I can feed her. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you, Thank you!!!. It worked like a charm after days of shoving my fingers down the throat only to have it spit back out. You have made pill time less stressful and dreaded. My dog thanks you too.
Awesome advice! It was a wrestling match to give my dog his medicine. I tried this technique this morning and it worked like a charm! Thank you so much! 🥰🐶
I was at the end of my rope until I saw your video. Our dog didn't even come near us if we had anything in our hands. Tried the cream cheese, and our dog now takes his medicine like a trooper. I can't thank you enough!
My husband and I tried everything getting his "flavor" chews down him. hotdogs, cooked sausage, peanut butter bread .....then I tried crunching it up, he still knew it was there. And this....actually worked! I couldn't believe it. Honestly, you are a God send!! thank you so very much
God bless you lady, it worked... I just about gave up, khloe was fighting me so bad... so I googled how to, saw you and poof her pill was in... I LOVE YOU... THANK YOU SO MUCH...
It worked!!! Thank you so much. We tried bacon paste, mixed in food, pill pocket, hide it in meat balls, he always picks it out. With cream cheese, he swallows it in no time. Happy dog, happy owner.
Thanks for sharing and making this video, worked great, she was hesitant for the first two bites so I gave her nothing in those just to let her get used to the cream cheese and then third fourth and fifth bites (had pills ) she took them down no problem thanks again.
Worked like a charm. I did the same with peanut butter and she kept finding the darn little pill with her tongue and spitting it out. I didn't have any strait cream cheese, but I had philly brown sugar cinnamon. I started by first getting her to lick some off my finger ...she loved it. Then I took a bit, hid the pill inside, and she sniffed it & scarfed it up! Thanks so much! I've subscribed!
Awesome technique. I had to start my one Pug who is 11 years old a different joint medication from a little Glycoflex pill to a Verti-Disc powdered capsule. I just primed him in the afternoon by letting lick the cream cheese and eating some then I primed him again. Right before I gave him the entire capsule. He swallowed the whole thing with no problem. Than You!
Thank you!!! My Shih Tzu is fussy and giving her regular working medication has been problematic. I didn't believe it would be this easy. In fact it's miraculous.
I came back to thank you! This worked perfectly. After trying so many things and wasting so much money throwing the meds away cuz he wouldn’t eat the food or the pills. I finally have something that works! Thanks again
I know this video is a little old but I just want to say THANK YOU! This trick worked perfectly on my picky dog. Last night, after trying everything, I was about to give up on her antibiotics and decided to look on YT and found you! She loved the cream cheese and didn’t even smelled the meds. Thank you again!
Trick used in the vet industry: put pill as far back into the throat as possible, then close the dogs mouth & while holding the muzzle, blow in the nose -- quick puff of air This forces a swallowing reaction & the pill is gone.
+TheAnnArnold Yep! I totally understand. Me, too. I worked in a boarding & daycare facility & I had to pill dogs all the time that were NOT cooperative. And they weren't my dogs either which made it even harder. If you can't get them to sit still, back them into a corner. Put your own back in the corner & stand over the dog w a leg on each side. Close your legs together like a LOOSE yoke over the neck. The dog can't back up, can't jump up & can't move forward. You can then bend over to grab the muzzle to pill & blow in the nose. NOTHING at all wrong with pilling in a ball of yummy food! Nothing at all. I'm just posting an option for an owner whose dog has thrown it ALL up or there's no appropriate food around. :-)
+Pam Czernel - I do the same thing except I stroke her throat, but I'll have to try puffing air. I give them a little treat after with praise. After a few times they look forward to pill time. =)
I cannot thank you enough!!! Now Miss Fussy Pants looks forward to pill-taking! 100% Philly Cream Cheese works like a dream! You have improved the quality of our lives! God Bless you! :-)
What a life saver. For medications that can be crushed, we have been mixing with scrambled eggs or peanut butter. Recently we were required to give our dog a huge pill that could not be crushed. I tried the cream cheese and she gulped it down on the first try. No more feeling guilty for having to shove it down their throat or forcing them to eat the pills. THANK YOU.
I also do the cream cheese trick Becky and it is the only way my dogs take a pill. Now, if I could only find a way to give ear meds. without them hiding under the table! Thank you for creating these videos, you are a great teacher.
Vicky Shoupe regarding the ear meds I wait until the dog is sleeping and I gently sit next to them and pet the head so the ear is flipped back. Then I keep petting by the ear and with the other hand I put the drops in. As soon as I do that I gently message by the ear to let the meds take its course. Then I roll the dog over and repeat. If the dog wakes up just make sure u remember which ear you did and do the other when they are sleeping again. Just a suggestion 👍😊
My doxie is supposed to be taking ear meds. She would run, hide, and press her ear to the floor. We were supposed to do it once daily but only did 3x a week because she was so difficult. 😢 She acts like we are killing her and then gets pouty and mad at us afterwards.
Oh my gosh, thank you!! I have the pickiest chihuahua that can detect a trick in a heart beat. She has a flea allergy and bites herself to the point of sores and baldness. This worked!!! Again thanks!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I had tried everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, with no luck. Your cream cheese idea worked perfectly! She took both pills in the cream cheese and wanted more! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
An amazing tip. Our Husky's last ACL surgery was a nightmare to get him to take his meds. This time it was the other leg and I was dreading the post op because of the past experience. Thanks to your cream cheese tip this has been a breeze. He takes his meds without even spitting out the pill. Thank you for this great tip as I know it helped his healing because we were not finding his meds under the dog cushion.
THANK YOU SO MUCH😭💗 my little Dude got out and ran into a car (luckily he didn’t get ran over over break anything) but he has 4 medications I have to give him twice a day and I couldn’t think of anything!! I finally got him to take his meds no problem🙌🏻
That's a great idea!! I had tried to give my dog a pill in a hunk of cheese and what I would do is use a drill and drill out a hole the same size as the pill and put it in the cheese and plug the end up with a bit more cheese because other wise it was crumbling apart by the time I was done. This also worked for a while in meat. I had two weeks of pills and after the first few days he caught on or could smell them and that was that. So, I look forward to trying the cream cheese, works every time method!!! Yay! Thank you so much! I was just thinking of using liverwurst the same way! But I'd rather lick my fingers with cream cheese on them than liverwurst! Thanks again! You rock!
I’m am thrilled to finally have a solution for giving pills! Thank you so much. It works for my smart picky spoiled dog! I put a tiny piece of bacon on a chunk of cream cheese and he swallowed it whole after repeatedly spitting out pills embedded in cheese and meat. Thank goodness for your help!!!
I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! IT WORKED! Thank you! I’m astonished! I’ve been stressing over how I was going to get him to take his antibiotic and pain pills 🤦♀️! I LOVE YOU FOR THIS! I might have to become a patreon for this!
You are a life saver! My 3 mo old puppy has kennel cough. I tried hot dog, chicken and PB but he spit the pill out every time. Down the hatch first try with cream cheese! Wish I had known this trick for my 17 yo chihuahua mix!
Thank you SO MUCH! You helped me and my mini spits Nico. He is very capricious, he always recognizes when there is medicine in his food and he always manages to spit out the pill. I just watched your video and hurried to buy cream cheese. at first I didn't believe it would work, but I had to try. I gave some cream cheese, then wrapped the pill as you said and we succeeded! Thank you so much!
Thanks this worked like a charm my dog has congestive heart failure and originally I used liverworst to give her her pills. She eventually got board of it and refused to eat it I tried various other methods that all either failed or lasted a week at most before she caught on. This on the other hand worked amazingly thanks a bunch.
You probably won’t see this but this really changed my life with giving my girl her meds🙂 I got so tired of shoving pills down her throat she would run from me and try to hide it broke my heart.....SO THANKS!!!!
Me too!! had to give 4 pills every 12 hours....giving for life too not just a week or two...felt like I was torturing her....
Same!!

Unfortunately most of these techniques other than just forcing it into the dogs mouth don't work if your dog is so sick it won't eat.
If your dog is so sick it won't eat, then your vet will most likely just give you a suppository version to stick up their butt or you can crush it and put it in water
Marvin Whisman yes that is happening with our dog. Won’t eat canned food or the pill pocket, or even white rice we just force it and he’s used to it.

Thank you a thousand times over for this brilliant tip!! It worked the very first time that I tried it with our 100 pound/14 month old Saint Bernard!!

Magical! Minutes before I gave him the meds, I saw this. It worked! Game changer. Thank you!
🐾🐾
I just about gave up, khloe was fighting me so bad... so I googled how to,
saw you and poof her pill was in... I LOVE YOU... THANK YOU SO MUCH...
Hahahahaha I'm so glad it worked for you😁 now you know☀️❤️☀️
oh my god, thank you! 😭 I’ve tried everything with him for years and nothing has worked until now!
It worked!!! Thank you so much. We tried bacon paste, mixed in food, pill pocket, hide it in meat balls, he always picks it out. With cream cheese, he swallows it in no time. Happy dog, happy owner.
This advice was AMAZING!! We tried everything to give out German shepherd antibiotics. This trick was spit on!! Thank you for the advice!
Omg this worked!!! Thank you so much! I have tried literally everything
Thank you so much for the tip with the cream cheese it worked great. I was so stressed but it was so simple. Thank you very much.
Thank you!!!!!! Just tried it today and it worked so well! He was following me around for more!
this video changed my life, its so much easier with cream cheese, my dog loves it!!! ty!!!!
Great tip! Also I love your picture on the wall!!!, the trees with red brush!
+Pam Czernel I do the same with my dog. Except I stroke her neck until the she swallows.
+Pam Czernel unfortunately, I've had some crazy dogs who were too wiggly & wouldn't hold still for doing it this way
That's how I got teeth marks on my hands once. That was once and never again. I tried spreadable liver sausage. This does sound much easier though.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😊😊😊
Finally something that worked after years of hardship!!!!
This is great!!! I looked online after getting bit by my little dog. Now he can't wait to get his pills. Thank you Becky!
I cannot thank you enough!!! Now Miss Fussy Pants looks forward to pill-taking! 100% Philly Cream Cheese works like a dream! You have improved the quality of our lives! God Bless you! :-)
God bless you!! It works with my dog who is very picky eater and usually totally disinterested in treats.
THANK YOU.
I’m going to try this! My dog loves all things dairy so it should work beautifully. Thank you!
Becky I love you for life. It worked. He was licking my fingers like you said and looking for more. God bless you.
Whitey has a lovely face, he is showing you love through his eyes
I tried everything today and nothing worked but this worked the very 1st time!! Thank you so much 😊
I was giving up today! I tried everything. Thanks for the great tip!!!
we had this dilemma earlier today and I then saw your video and boom! went down easy just like that for the first time ever. Thank you for sharing.
thanks for sharing the tip. it looks like a good one. know I just have to remember it next time my dog needs to take a pill
Fortunately I just bought some cream cheese today. Worked like a charm. Thank you for the tip.
Worked great with our Bella, THANKS! We'll be back to watch more! Danny and Lynn
THANK YOU SO MUCH😭💗 my little Dude got out and ran into a car (luckily he didn’t get ran over over break anything) but he has 4 medications I have to give him twice a day and I couldn’t think of anything!! I finally got him to take his meds no problem🙌🏻
Thank you so much!! This worked like a charm! My lil chihuahua/ Jack Russell mix was fighting everything and she has 10 days of antibiotics to take.
That's a great idea!! I had tried to give my dog a pill in a hunk of cheese and what I would do is
use a drill and drill out a hole the same size as the pill and put it in the cheese and plug the end up with a bit more cheese because other wise it was crumbling apart by the time I was done. This also worked for a while in meat. I had two weeks of pills and after the first few
days he caught on or could smell them and that was that. So, I look forward to trying the cream cheese, works every time method!!! Yay! Thank you so much!
I was just thinking of using liverwurst the same way! But I'd rather lick my fingers with cream cheese on them than liverwurst! Thanks again! You rock!
Wow ..... Thanks so much...
Everytime we struggle....
Today we tried the cream cheese and it worked like magic ......
Thanks a ton....
Oh my God! This is a God sent! Thanks for sharing! My house was a war zone with giving tablets! For the first time in days we had an easy run
Thank you so much‼️‼️. We were having a problem with our dog taking any pills and he just had his second ACL surgery. It worked great‼️
OMG THANK YOU!!! I have tried EVERYTHING, nothing worked, until this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
