Shelly is an international inspiration and motivator used by God to help vulnerable people like myself. Knowing how important it is to protect her psyche leading up to possibly her final Olympics I think this is not a commendable move by the coach . She is a icon and should be protected and supported and trained as such.
With the improvement Elaine showed at the back end of this season, l think she was on the right path. Coach Osbourne did a splendid job.. Let's hope Elaine has made the right decision this time

We're here discussing the impact of a coach change on the 2 most elite female athletes of our generation and you're writing as if we're discussing a catfight. Seriously? Try to think big picture instead of boiling it down to some anti-feminist view of women. Maybe consider that this will be Elaine's 4th coach in 3 years, one of those coaches being her ill-advised husband and the other 2 won't touch her with a barge pole. Maybe stop to consider that if Elaine, but especially her husband, has a known history of causing friction in training camps and with coaches, then perhaps there's a reason we have a LEGITIMATE concern about the fact that they've now enveigled their way into Shelly's training camp in Shelly's last Olympic year. In all of Elaine's career missteps, public embarrassments, training disruptions and professional rifts, the one common denominator has been Derron. Derron is a cancer that is now moving into Shelly's demesne & that's something a bit more significant than having it be a personal issue between two women.
I would love to think that coach Walcott had met with SFP, floated the idea of ETH joining the camp and gotten SFP's 'take' on the decision to bring her on board prior to doing so. I really wish this is how it unfolded. If SFP suddenly decides to leave Elite then we will know that this is not how it actually 'went down'. Let us wait and see. Fact is, ETH would have 'made' Shaneike Osbourne into a very famous coach. However, Osbourne's worth was already beginning to show based on the improvements seen in ETH toward the extreme end of last season. Shaneike is best advised to start her own track club, recruit some young talents and make her name from scratch, the way Franno and Glen Mills have done. That way, no one can ever doubt she is worth whatever she thinks is her worth again. While I am very happy for ETH, my mind is very conflicted by the possibility of turmoil and dis-harmony being created in SFP's training camp due to the presence of ETH, as SFP too is focused on Paris 2024. SFP also wants to win and has to be contented in her camp. Hope it all works out well for all the stakeholders.

Unless SFP has changed her mind but she left MVP (2020) as she stated that she just doesn't need to compete in training to perform well. She's a mother now so maybe she it won't bother her as much. I'm not convinced tho😅
THANK YOU!!! This arrangement benefits everyone other than Shelly and since Shelly was the one to bring the world's attention to coach Walcott, I find his decision almost traitorous to Shelly. Especially since Shelly is so focused on retiring with another Olympic gold & that's what they've both been working on these past years. That said, from a business perspective, it was the right call for him. Financially & professionally, there's very little downside. Shelly is on the verge of retiring & she's the only athlete at this level he's currently coaching. If he does with Elaine what he was able to do with Shelly, athletes will be beating a path to his door. And if he isn't able to bring Elaine back to her prior level or exceed it, it can be blamed on her injuries or the fact that he only just got her, months b4 the Olympics. What Elaine needed to have done from a long time ago was to have told her husband to butt out of her training, apologized & mended fences with Coach Francis and gone back to MVP. She's instead chosen the more immature route by having her husband still front & center in her professional life, and gone to once again disrupt Shelly's training. Shelly doesn't deserve that.

Welcome to the world of sports. The important thing is not what people say about them but what they do and the truth is that they were not doing well with each other up until recently. In my eyes things between them are not as bad as they used to be but could take a lil more work and this might be the very opportunity for them to put the past behind and mend things.

Walcott is in the business of training athletes, not a personal camp for some people. Mommyrocket is my favourite athletes and I believe she in more than astutely intelligent to know that her coach is a coach first and foremost and to anyone who desires his service. Jamaicans, Elaine Thompson is Jamaican, she had done wonderful things for the country by winning several medals thus bringing pride and joy to the country and as such, I must show my appreciation. However, Miss Thompson is lacking integrity, and for the most part, majority of us in Jamaica does not fully understand the definition of the word (integrity). We understand that Elaine is there to run and win races but, she represents Jamaica to the world and, as such, the world sees her from a point of a champion - not only as a Jamaican champion but instead the champion of the world. To date, Miss Thompson has not apologize to Jamaica or the world for her faux pas regarding her mendacious response to the reporter question regarding her impending departure from MVP. Instead of lying to world. She just segued to her next social blunder - she would like Jamaicans idealized her just as the foreigners show respect and honor to their star Athletes. Respect is earned through good deeds, honesty and integrity, not by force or demand. If I may, I'd like to say that for those of you who are choosing to represent yourself as well as your country, please understand the real nature of social grace and the essence of integrity, and then secure the assistance of those of whom are versed in those areas to educate yourself regarding those important social mormsand move away from rusticity and unacceptable qualities. I for one appreciate Miss Thompson's contribution to the country's medal tally but surely disappointed in her lack of integrity and lack of formal decorum.

When I first heard this news about Elaine, my immediate thought was that Coach Reynaldo betrayed my favorite female track athlete after my 12 year old daughter Jewel Domingue, Shelly-Ann, the Mommy Rocket. It hurt me because this may well be her last season, and my desire is that she finishes strong and on top. It would be lovely if she could go out with a bang as the Olympic Champion in 2024 in the 100 meter. Now the man who can help get her there is going to Coach the fastest woman alive, her arch rival and perhaps even nemesis?! I hate it, it doesn’t look good! I don’t know the whole story but I prefer them each to have their own club, and individual coaching attention.
Agreed. I really have no issues with one coach training rivals. Coach Mills proved it can be done. My issue is that Elaine and Derron have a history of causing problems with coaches, and a history of disruption at training camps. Why should Shelly be unduly impacted just because they can't have a harmonious relationship with a coach. This is 💯 the right biz decision for Coach Reynaldo, it was an I've-run-out-of-options decision for Elaine and absolutely the worst decision for Shelly in her final year.

Unless SFP has changed her mind but she left MVP (2020) as she stated that she just doesn't need to compete in training to perform well. She's a mother now so maybe she it won't bother her as much. I'm not convinced tho😅

THANK YOU!!! This arrangement benefits everyone other than Shelly and since Shelly was the one to bring the world's attention to coach Walcott, I find his decision almost traitorous to Shelly. Especially since Shelly is so focused on retiring with another Olympic gold & that's what they've both been working on these past years.
That said, from a business perspective, it was the right call for him. Financially & professionally, there's very little downside. Shelly is on the verge of retiring & she's the only athlete at this level he's currently coaching. If he does with Elaine what he was able to do with Shelly, athletes will be beating a path to his door.
And if he isn't able to bring Elaine back to her prior level or exceed it, it can be blamed on her injuries or the fact that he only just got her, months b4 the Olympics.
What Elaine needed to have done from a long time ago was to have told her husband to butt out of her training, apologized & mended fences with Coach Francis and gone back to MVP.
She's instead chosen the more immature route by having her husband still front & center in her professional life, and gone to once again disrupt Shelly's training. Shelly doesn't deserve that.

Welcome to the world of sports. The important thing is not what people say about them but what they do and the truth is that they were not doing well with each other up until recently. In my eyes things between them are not as bad as they used to be but could take a lil more work and this might be the very opportunity for them to put the past behind and mend things.

Walcott is in the business of training athletes, not a personal camp for some people. Mommyrocket is my favourite athletes and I believe she in more than astutely intelligent to know that her coach is a coach first and foremost and to anyone who desires his service. However, Miss Thompson is lacking integrity, and for the most part, majority of us in Jamaica does not fully understand the definition of the word (integrity).
We understand that Elaine is there to run and win races but, she represents Jamaica to the world and, as such, the world sees her from a point of a champion - not only as a Jamaican champion but instead the champion of the world.
To date, Miss Thompson has not apologize to Jamaica or the world for her faux pas regarding her mendacious response to the reporter question regarding her impending departure from MVP. Instead of lying to world. She just segued to her next social blunder - she would like Jamaicans idealized her just as the foreigners show respect and honor to their star Athletes. Respect is earned through good deeds, honesty and integrity, not by force or demand.
If I may, I'd like to say that for those of you who are choosing to represent yourself as well as your country, please understand the real nature of social grace and the essence of integrity, and then secure the assistance of those of whom are versed in those areas to educate yourself regarding those important social mormsand move away from rusticity and unacceptable qualities.
I for one appreciate Miss Thompson's contribution to the country's medal tally but surely disappointed in her lack of integrity and lack of formal decorum.

When I first heard this news about Elaine, my immediate thought was that Coach Reynaldo betrayed my favorite female track athlete after my 12 year old daughter Jewel Domingue, Shelly-Ann, the Mommy Rocket. It hurt me because this may well be her last season, and my desire is that she finishes strong and on top. It would be lovely if she could go out with a bang as the Olympic Champion in 2024 in the 100 meter. Now the man who can help get her there is going to Coach the fastest woman alive, her arch rival and perhaps even nemesis?! I hate it, it doesn’t look good! I don’t know the whole story but I prefer them each to have their own club, and individual coaching attention.

My issue is that Elaine and Derron have a history of causing problems with coaches, and a history of disruption at training camps.
