So many in NZ and Ozzy will now follow nascar in a big way , Total game changer , Shane is a superstar over here and this is massive , Some of us are changing over to nascars on our sims over here 🙂
The problem is 30 million people 1/2 way around the world won't help Nascar. Only a few corporate Nascar sponsors would be able to benefit from AU/NZ audience. Many current sponsorships are regional and don't follow the whole series. Menards sponsors a whole series and many cars but there is no Menards store in my area. Perhaps some secondary TV writes would be sold but most races take place between 3pm and 7pm eastern time Sunday . How many people will be watching between 6am and 12pm Monday morning?
KIWI here! Been covering motorsport for the last 10 years as a kid through to early adulthood. Huge fan of the drivers that represent our country on the world stage. Watching Liam Lawson go from open wheel to DTM and winning races to now jumping into Japan Super Formula and winning there has me gassed! AND NOW SHANE goes and does it in NASCAR and IM MELTING!!!! LETS GO SVG!! well done to all drivers representing their country and getting their country involved in the process.. How incredible these feats impact the sport and allow it to grow even further.
Proud to call Justin my brother in law. Whether it's Thanksgiving dinner in Georgia or a post race interview in Chicago, he's the same guy. Never speaks bad of anyone.
really great interview session, very calm and concise, expert questions, heart felt informational answers, everyone put shine on the team, i am impressed, congrats to Shane and Congrats to Nascar for taking it to the street
Trackhouse has exceeded the highest of expectations. Justin Marks is a visionary team owner who deserves and demands respect. SVG obviously has a better balance & feel for the car & throttle. SVG is committed back home through 2024. If Trackhouse puts SVG on the roval, and SVG goes 2 for 2 (which he could do) The wealthiest New Zealand international companies will back him stateside. So sought over, I doubt trackhouse could afford him.
Just watching SVG doing his laps - we could see his lines were different to the other guys and his braking was way later than the other guys, and for less time. So there will be learnings across the board - but it augurs well for the future.
@@stevenhastings1480 i just think they werent expecting it to happen or couldnt believe it could be done. He passes like that all the time so he knew what he was doing.
This is not only a good thing for Trackhouse. It highlights nascar to the series that the visiting driver races regularly in and also gives American fans a glimpse at another form of racing. I’m certain that the fans that knew nothing of Supercars now have an interest in it.
Yep, as an Aussie I watched because SVG was in it but great promotion for Chicago anyway, your city looked great, much better than we see of it in any of the crime movies!!
This is basically like Australian V8 Supercars in a Nascar series. Justin you are genius. This kind of racing is going to take off and not just USA fans.
Now imagine how much better and faster Shane could be if they were allowed to cater to his dominant side and custom built a car for him with a right hand side steering wheel with stick shift on his left side? he would have been more beast and at the very least another couple of seconds faster. Not to mention he said it himself he ''left a lot on the table'' as he wasn't fully comfortable with the brake pedal set up as well as other aspects of the car he couldn't have as he would have wanted.
Soon well be watching NASCAR down under I hope . We have plenty who drive like SVG hes just the cream at the top . Watching him pick off the drivers , if you know V8s supercars you know he was coming . Awesome to see stock car racing getting truly global
As an Aussie it was great to see SVG win & the respect paid to him by the other drivers... yes he was in his 'street element' vs Nascar drivers first time, but he was also driving on the opposite side of the car & changing gear with his right hand (compared to RHD Australian cars)!
With the Street races becoming more popular in nascar this will open up to more international viewers which would have found oval track quite boring . Good on you nascar for joining the rest of the world with more exciting street racing.
If NASCAR wants to survive going forward, they MUST do more of what they did like Chicago (street courses, road courses, dirt races, super speedway racing, etc) Round and round racing is BORING and falling in ratings race after race, year after year. Loved the race AND EXCITEMENT it was providing at Chicago street course and watching that race on TV. Lets do more! A 30+ years of auto racing fan (and some years as a driver) here.
Shane needs something bigger, I hope he goes over asap, even doing some more cameo's for the mean time. I hope Justin has some ideas on possible future races for Shane penciled on his calendar. I hope to see him do an oval when they believe he's ready to go on that too! .....Congratulations to Trackhouse. you just shocked the racing world.
Naacar has really peaked my interest. First at LeMans and now seeing an Aussie V8 boy coming over and racing. Love it and hopefully we'll see more coverage of it now, whether it's ovals or street racing.
I love nascar racing from the USA, and next year will be watching all on fox now. Shane is a gun and a lot to learn also… specially on ovals.. V8 Super car nut from down under.
Put him on an oval! I love to catch what I can of Supercars along with Formula 1 and Indy and seeing this project succeed really opens the doors to not only bringing other series champs but also spreading NASCAR more globally. Throw in the success at Le Mans this year and damn, what a year for NASCAR.
The tough gig for SVG will obviously be ovals. As was said kindly by his competitors he has way more street racing experience. That said SVG would be up for it
If Dale Earnhardt had still be living and racing the outsider would not have won. Like that time he took Sam Ard out. After the race Sam asked Dale Sr why did you take me out. Earnhardt replied if I wasn't gonna win norther were you. Still miss and talking about number 3
They say it was first street race I presume when they raced at surfers paradise there was no points so it wasn't part of championship but that was a street course
Jimmie Johnson should take note from Justin Marks about being an owner. JJ only cares about himself and draining the resources of that company for his ego.
I believe SVG would eventually do well on the ovals but it's a different animal. The Cup guys slide the cars at 150mph all race long and that takes a little bit of practice.
He’s contracted to red bull holden team888 until November 2024, so he won’t be in a nascar next year. Unless some very big money will need to change a few different peoples hands
You think cities would think about the tourism economic kick that is available if government and people work together. But l don't believe in the F1 circus that's just putting money in a individuals pocket.
Its funny how all of the fast nascar racer were racing like complete rookies crashing and going to fast lol and got beat by a pro V8 Supercar driver hahaha go circuit endurance racers.
That's cool and everything, but that racist Brandon Johnson won't let it happen next year. Also, why does everyone keep calling it an event? Literally all that happened this weekend was racing.
