      i guess it is because one is great for video and other is great for photography. I am very clear in my decision and I am going for the A7M4 with the adapter. I would instead go for the A6700 if the viewfinder was good and it had 1/8000 shutter speed.

    Just ordered the a6700 with a sigma 18- 50mm 2.8. For me it’s the perfect upgrade from a Nikon 1 j5. Mainly because of its size which suits my style of taking photos.. on the go. Great video! I was able to see a difference, even though it was very small. The highlight rolloff is always smoother on a FF sensor, that’s what gives it away for me. But the image coming from the a6700 is still fantastic. I would personally always pick FF over apsc. I’m using the original a7c and have fallen in love with the image it produces. I upgraded from an a6300, just because it is very old and beat up. It was time for retirement 😂
    I didn’t think going FF would make a big difference, because I loved the old and trusty a6300, but it did. The files are so much more robust, and can take more pushing and pulling, and the low light is just amazing. Even the video quality looks a lot better and endures more pushing and pulling, still being 8bit. Although, when I bought the a7c, the 6700 wasn’t out yet. But I still think I would’ve gotten the FF, knowing what I know now 😂
    Anyway, if on a 1500 budget for a body I’d say buy a used FF for photos, but maybe something like the 6700 for videos, if 10bit is important to you. But basically all of these Sony cameras are monsters and are more than capable of producing “professional” photos and videos.
    Keep up the good work man! I love your channel. The content is getting better and better. I just miss Oscar, haven’t seen him in while 😂

    I love that you put blind tests into this, always helpful! Only able to tell the difference by DoF and never because of quality, DR or similar.
    When you say that the new AF on the a6700 is better, can we somehow put that into numbers? like from 100 shots 97% hit rate vs 90% of the A7IV or what are we talking?

    • @benoittissier58
      @benoittissier58 Год назад

      From my experience, hit rate with the A7iv on runners is between 5 and 70%. 70% in bright sunlight only. With the A6700, between 10 and 80%.
      I consider sharp a picture that is as sharp as the same lens on a static subject. Misfocusing may not show on screens but it's obvious on A3 prints. You can look up my name and Ekiden Strasbourg, it is one 5% session with the A7iv.

    • @chosenideahandle
      @chosenideahandle Год назад

      If you're invested in APS-C lenses that would be one reason to stay clear of the a7IV. If you're happy with the image quality from your a6400 for stills, another reason you won't need the a7IV. If you travel with your gear, that is another reason to stay clear of full-frame. If you'll ever need a flash, bulb mode, mechanical shutter or an EVF then say no to the FX30. If you need to record long form video in the sun (even 24fps) then you'll eventually run into problems with the a6700. If you'd like two card slots then of course no a6700. I know I could probably get away with my a6700 for everything, although for paid work I'm still usually using my FX30 (even for photos). I really missed not having an EVF for photos, so it's a pleasure having that in the a6700.

    Would you recommend this camera to a stills shooter? I do full time headshots and portraits and I want something light and fast, currently shooting FUJI XT5 but thinking of jumping. What lenses would you recommend to rival a 50mm and 85mm equivalent? And a 35? I’m seriously thinking of switching from Fuji to Sony (XT5 to A6700). I use the Fuji 56, 33 and 23 (85, 50 and 35 equivalents). What 3 Sony lenses would give me those focal lengths? Am I crazy to think the Sony A6700 could rival the XT5 or would you say it might? How is the EVF on the A6700? I should add that I’m 53, and have a bad back. lol. Light gear is ESSENTIAL to my livelihood.

    Somehow I find it awesome and practical for you to have something recorded months ago and "just need to edit" while still having enough videos to upload in the pipeline :) Awesome job as always!
    Regarding the topic I have the feeling this APS-C and full frame discussion is only relevant, when you talk about low light or bad lighting conditions. It's in such environments, where full frame can really play its advantage. You are more flexible with full frame and can push the image a bit more. In good lighting condition, it really doesn't matter which camera you pick. Every camera nowadays has excelent image quality. Sure you could argue full frame can provide more bokeh, but companies like Viltrox are building excellent fast APS-C lenses which can rival full frame bokeh.
    And if I'm honest, I also like the fast F stop on every lens and bokeh is always great, but yesterday I watched a lens review / vlog where the guy had to shoot at F22 since it always sunny outside and no ND filter available - me as a viewer didn't care less about the bokeh missing xD

While I've been a little torn with going FF I really don't think it's worth the cost with the very minor noticeable difference between the 6700 and a FF. I've pretty much made up my mind to just upgrade to the 6700 and sell my 6400 to recover a bit of the cost that way I don't need new lenses (yes I know I can use my lenses on a FF camera). Having switched from APS-C to full frame myself the differences in the comparison shots were pretty obvious to me because I was comparing the shots from the Nikon Z50 to the Nikon Z7 II I use now 🙂
    Especially the first one gave it away. Same field of view, shallower depth of field on the left resulting from using the same focal length at a shorter distance.
    ...At least I assume you used the same lens and aperture, otherwise you can feel free to ignore me 🤪
    But I think there were some very subtle differences in the dynamic range. On the full frame body you have just ever so slightly more details in the sky and the shadows. But it really is subtle and it might as well just be the look of that sensor.
    Personally I did notice a pretty solid bump in dynamic range when I made the switch myself. For example, shooting in bright sunlight isn't nearly as tough anymore.

    @THAT ICELANDIC GUY. hi, my name is Karissa. I'm 17yo from Indonesia. I wanna ask you a question that might be worth a content for your channel. let me explain this first I'm new in videography world but i love to make films or short videos, but i have only Fujifilm X-T1 in my possesion which is not the right or ideal camera for videography. Certaintly i need to upgrade my gear, but my question is do i really need a full frame camera? while the only platform i choose to show my works is youtube.
    If you can respon to my question Thank🙏🏼you very much.

    Sony a6700 vs Canon r8?

  • @HBZERaviation
    @HBZERaviation Год назад

    I saw the differences, A6700 has the new BionzXR Processor and the colours are better. I can't see any differences about dynamic range. It's very similar. APS-C should be worse on that but no, it's not clearly visible.
    Im clearly hesitating to buy this A6700. I'm hesitating with the A7CII but the full frame lenses are too big and heavy. I would like better low light performances than my actual A6500 but i will probably invest in very fast aperture lenses like the new SIRUI Sniper lenses.

      I'm here with a6500 as well and thinking... did you make a choice and how is it?

    • @HBZERaviation
      @HBZERaviation Месяц назад +1

      @@saturn_fpv Hello, I bought the A6700 because it's smaller and lighter. I wanted to avoid carrying heavy stuff.
      It's a nice upgrade. Colours, sharpness and dynamic range are better, AI focus, BULB timer and a lot of new functions.
      EVF is better but worse than A7IV.
      The battery life is much better. I bought two batteries and I use only the second battery when I forget to charge the first one.
      I have noticed that the screen is not visible in portrait mode when we're wearing polarised glasses.
      Burst mode is curiously more bad with smaller buffer. About 50 images RAW and for the A6500 about 100 images in RAW+JPG.
      I didn't tried the A7CII, so I can't compare. A friend bought it and he confirmed that the image quality is better. But, you spend 2x more money in a full frame camera that it's 2x heavier and the image quality is not 2x better, maybe just 15-20%.
      It's very important to buy quality lenses.
      I shot now with the Sony 16-55 f2.8 and I noticed that the quality is much better than the old 16-70 f4.

    • @HBZERaviation
      @HBZERaviation Месяц назад

      @@saturn_fpv You're welcome. I'm not a big user of video mode but compared to the A6500 the A6700 is better in low light situations but only in video mode. In photo mode, the A6700 is the same of the A6500 or 1-2% more bad if I thrust DPReview.

    How is using A6700 or A7CII / A7IV in rain or snow situations. Let's be honest autumn can be rainy, as winter can be snowy. What if rain/snow drops 24/7. Would you use any of these cameras in that situation or you recommend using any cover? (Either way, could you recommend some good covers though? 😅😅)
    PS: 3:49 - I thought right side was A7IV!!! Holly crap.. These colours are A LOT better and even like dynamic range and sharpness looked like higher. I don't know.. Can't be serious..😂

      That was right, the a6700 is a great camera :) The a74 should be a bit better for photo and I still like the FF look a lot. I'm pretty yolo with my gear and you shouldn't take advice from me about rain covers lol.
      However my friend showed me one thing that was awesome. You know that plastic bag thingy that grandmas use in the shower to cover their hair so it won't get wet? Since it has an elastic band around it then it's great. Cut a hole in the middle and your good :)

    This is an apple to orange review. Why not throw a banana into the mix, the FX-30, the cine camera with a fan. This review is incomplete as you cover stills and video. So, it is important to talk about long time video recording and heat. Confusion comes into play when you exclude one camera that really can seal the deal for someone who is new to the photography. The Sony camera lineup is a buffet, with different cameras for different uses for different environments, etc. So. think about where the cameras are going to be used. There are so many variables that it is almost impossible to say which camera is the best. Hiking to some place that is full of landscape imagery vs a party vs street photography vs portraits vs client videos vs weddings vs family picture etc. should define the camera(s) to be used.
    See how only highlighting two cameras doesn't complete the discussion!!!!!!! I watch a lot of videos and see the variety of uses for cameras and the variety of cameras suited for those purposes. Being on Iceland doing Iceland photography is very different from the streets of New York, San Francisco and Miami. Hope your understand. Gee, picking a camera for those film SLR camera days was easy. We just looked for the brand we wanted and be done with it.
