Really enjoyed this video. I feel my creative juices flowing thinking of all the ways to use up the many magazine cutouts I have collected forever! Thank you for the inspiration! Just subscribed- looking forward to more. Hugs
Wow I luv this video, the pages you have done are super. Really interesting video. Luv glueing and working with paper and you certainly have a way of developing your pages. Your pages are full of colour and great ephemera luv them all. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed watching, Ali xx
That is a beautiful journal and so inspiring! I do the same thing with my personal journals, adding all kinds of papers, labels, receipts etc. Your journal is really gorgeous!
Just finished binge-watching your videos...and loved every one of them!! Ready for more..lol!! I have subbed and look forward to seeing anything else you choose to make. You're such an excellent communicator and explain yourself very well. Thank you for sharing your creativity!!
Wow, thanks so much, ckfoxxer. I will be making more videos, after a long pause. I have been in the process of moving, and it's taken a TON of my time. Can't wait to play again.
Thanks so much for these videos. I’m keeping a collage visual diary this year and you’ve motivated me to go back through my old magazines again, looking at text this time. Please make some more videos; they are great.
So happy you stopped by, Prue. Good luck with your collage visual diary. After some time away for packing and moving, I plan to make some more videos soon.
How did you bind the pages? This is great. I love magazines. Subscribed to ,"Birds and Blooms" and "Reminisce" for this purpose. But, you have given me great ideas for other magazines as well. thank you
Love your video's. Collage fascinates me and yours is so interesting. I too was wondering how you put this together as I could not see any stitching. Look forward to your next video
I used a hinge binding technique -- it's simple! Just cut tall, skinny strips of cardstock the same height as your book pages. Fold them in half and glue them together like an accordion, then glue each page to a hinge strip.I'll try to cover that in a future video, but hope this helps.
What fun! Thank you. I thought you said you had the kids make this from file folders but I noticed in the comments you talked about the hinge method. I saw your tips about the hinge method and if you have any file folder tips I’d love to have them. I’m a bit obsessed with using file folders but mainly use them for covers.
Thank you, Lynne. We cut the file folders into hinges. They're heavier stock than I normally use for hinges, but they worked. The goal in this class was to use easily obtainable materials, and while not everyone would have cardstock, most everyone has access to a couple of file folders.
It's so pretty! You should scan the pages and shrink them down in size to make little zines. I'm sure alot of people would love one. They would be like little pieces of art! 😊
I actually found that magazine at work and did the same as you did. I havent really used the cut outs though... but thank you for sharing this. I got great tips. TFS!!! :)
Yes, Debbie, that's a great way to get magazines! Flip through all of them -- you never know which one will have letters or images that you can use; sometimes it's a magazine you wouldn't expect to be useful that has the best things for collage!
Thanks for stopping by. I describe the tab system a little more in my collage journal video, but I plan to address the binding separately in another video I'm working on now! I will post it next week.
Super vibrant and fun projects !!! I also make junk journals, just done a series of 8 in TN size. Super creative video, nicely done. Love the acetate sheet. I have subbed, would be lovely to chat again. Joie xxx
I have used magazine's for so so many things including for color combinations, magazine companies have professionals that spend endless hours on colors and style to catch eye...while I'm watching TV I fussy cut items and make paper beads., magazine horder??? lol TFS
Thank you! I swear by glue sticks... and sometimes I swear AT my glue sticks! If I'm gluing something really big, I'll use a double-sided tape, but for smaller stuff, I keep glue sticks handy.
Question for you: What stamp catalog do you use/get? I'd love to get one. My mom used to collect stamps when I was a kid. I'm thinking about doing it for myself. Thanks.
Kate, the stamp pages I use in collage books are from an informational catalog from a company named Scott... I often find old, outdated volumes at library sales and such. If you want to start collecting stamps, you'll probably want a stamp collecting album instead, and I think the US Post Office actually offers one! The Scott books don't have places to put your stamps, just info about various stamps from all countries. Have fun!
You are very kind! I understand about Facebook, but some of the groups are really fun. Maybe you can join just for the groups? You don't have to use the timeline or friend people if you don't want to.
I don't know why it stopped... I was still talking and showing pages... So sorry about that. I'm still learning how to do this. In the future, I'll make a shorter video and a second part, if needed.
My cell phone did that once to me. It was because the battery ran low, so that might have been the cause. Now when I make my videos, I make sure my cell phone is charged AND I also keep it plugged int! Lesson learned! Thanks for writing back!
Cheryl, I used skinny tabs to bind this. I folded cardstock (cut to about 1-1/2 inches wide) in half, and glued each page in the spread to one half of the folded cardstock. Then I glued the next spread to another piece of folded cardstock, and so on. Some people do this with a larger piece of cardstock and fold it like an accordion, but I can't seem to get the folds even on a large sheet, so I cut mine into small widths. Hope this helps!
I love your videos and went ahead and subbed. I hope you're coming back and that things are well with you. Certainly, thank you very much for the videos you have shared. I have learned a lot from them and feel encouraged to begin my own. Thank you!
Hi! Well, this is exciting news! Slow is okay, we can do slow. I’ll be very excited when you come on with your next project!! And if, at any time, you want to share a video of how you’re making something, even if it’s not finished, that would be awesome. But, no pressure! Very glad to hear that your creative juices are still flowing and that you’ll get back to us! Thank you for letting me know!
Really enjoyed this video. I feel my creative juices flowing thinking of all the ways to use up the many magazine cutouts I have collected forever! Thank you for the inspiration! Just subscribed- looking forward to more. Hugs
Thank you for subscribing, Patty. Have fun -- it feels great to finally glue down those magazine cutouts!
I just found this many years after it was posted. Lots of good ideas for a beginner like me.
This is true 'Junk Journalling' ... at it's best! Not beyond anyone...who truly loves to craft and lacks the financial freedom to spend at leisure!
It's ALL junk, that's for sure! Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved all three of your videos and your journal ideas, how to weed through a magazine, etc. I would love to see more videos from you, please.
Jan, thanks so much for commenting. I just posted a new video -- a nature journal flip-through -- yesterday. Hope you'll watch!
Thank you, that was so inspiring and motivation for my grandchildren
I like the colors you use...happy and not the dark things some use
Thank you, Jan. I gravitate to bright and happy colors, but I do like a vintage look. as well.
Wow you sound like me. I collect just like you. Its great to know there are frugal and thrifty people like you
Thrifty and frugal are good traits, in my opinion!

Thank you, Bonnie and Clive. I am trying to learn how to make a zine now. Sounds like fun!
I wish you could come to my high school art class and teach. My students would LOVE it. I may just show them this video.
It would be my pleasure if you were close by! Feel free to share the video -- but I bet you could teach this yourself!
I actually found that magazine at work and did the same as you did. I havent really used the cut outs though... but thank you for sharing this. I got great tips. TFS!!! :)
Those fat fashion magazines are treasure troves, aren't they? Have fun and thanks for stopping by!
Lots of times our library puts over stocked magazines in a free bin. I think I need to go by and check out what they have!!!!
Yes, Debbie, that's a great way to get magazines! Flip through all of them -- you never know which one will have letters or images that you can use; sometimes it's a magazine you wouldn't expect to be useful that has the best things for collage!
Very nice! Thanks for posting. I'd love to see a video of how you put the pages together using the folder. Are they just washi-taped in?

Excellent. I'll look forward to it. And thanks for the speedy reply.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO.
So glad you enjoyed it, Tina. Thank you for commenting!
Beautiful and creative..how are you getting the folders to adhere together so they make the book?
Good old inexpensive glue sticks, Sharon! I buy them by the box!
I have used magazine's for so so many things including for color combinations, magazine companies have professionals that spend endless hours on colors and style to catch eye...while I'm watching TV I fussy cut items and make paper beads., magazine horder??? lol TFS
I confess, Denise, I'm a magazine hoarder, too -- and cutting them up while watching tv is very efficient!
This helped me a LOT! Thanks for sharing!
So glad to hear this, Leslie! Happy to have you here.
Great ideas! What do you use to adhere the pages to your journal?
Thank you! I swear by glue sticks... and sometimes I swear AT my glue sticks! If I'm gluing something really big, I'll use a double-sided tape, but for smaller stuff, I keep glue sticks handy.

Great journal! Awesome tips! Is there more? It seems to have stopped abruptly. Hope we see the ending. TFS. Tere
Oops. It didn't upload correctly. I will have to try this one again. Sorry!
Glossy pages are a dealbreaker for me
very good...Teacher!!👍🏻
Aren't you nice to say that, FixMyHairdo! Thank you for watching.
Youre so creative! I love this . I wish I could be in your group, but I don't use Facebook.

Very helpful tips for making glue books....TFS...new subby
Thanks so much for the comment and for subscribing. Glad you stopped in!
I would make zines with those bold colored pages
Thanks for the idea, Susan. I am trying to learn how to make a zine now!
Is there a part 2? You video stopped at 20:38 mid sentence!
I don't know why it stopped... I was still talking and showing pages... So sorry about that. I'm still learning how to do this. In the future, I'll make a shorter video and a second part, if needed.

Was this an altered book or how did you adhere the signatures to the book? I don't see signatures...THANKS!
