    omg THANK YOU!! also discovered that if you need to use the opacity node of your material, (e.g. metal which only has color, not diffuse) you can just plug the texture map on to the left + node of the Ray Mask node, and it produced the same effect as an opacity mask. Awesome!

    Thanks!!! Great video Will!
    I've been struggling for quite a long time with another problem related with glass and labels. If you have a big wrapping label around clear glass bottle you see through the bottle the back of your labels projected on the glass. In KS this projection looks nearly black, while in real life the back of the label where the glue layer is is white and it should project like white.
    Is there a way to solve this in KS successfully?

      Try enabling caustics?

    • @ThelabelmakerEu
      @ThelabelmakerEu Год назад

      @@WillGibbons I did - it still looks very black. Tried to play with occlusion + caustics, or only with occlusion, but the result is far from desired.

    • @ThelabelmakerEu
      @ThelabelmakerEu Год назад

      @@WillGibbons in real life it is very easy - simply remove the back label and all looks perfect. Or if it is a wrapping label the projected image does not look black - it takes the color of the environment as the paper back is white on real labels.

    Thanks for this. Running V 12.2.2, and it has this feature in the MAterial Graph, but it makes no change to the label I have applied to the product. Is there perhaps another way to get around this problem that you know of?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  6 месяцев назад

      No, not that I'm aware. Is there a chance it's a bug? Try updating your software. V12.3 is out and see if that helps.

    Great tip! However, I have a previous version of Keyshot... When you mentioned about it being an "experimental feature" in older versions of Keyshot, around 1:32 in the video, how do I find it and utilise this ability?? I have a glass bottle and need the reflacted "back" taken off, exactly like this video. I have Keyshot 11 - cheers

      @WillGibbons  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can check the preferences and see if you can enable experimental features.

    Hi! Nice tutorial. Could you please tell me if it's possible to create a 3D label? I mean, like a convex effect, so to speak

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 месяца назад

      You would need to use displacement for this. Otherwise using the label as a bump map can create the impression of 3D, but not when you see the edge of the label. It won't actually stick off the surface of the model.

    Hi Will, I have a related issue that I cannot find a solution for. I am using Keyshot 9 and attempting to apply a white label with text to a clear medicine bottle. The front looks fine but backside of the label, seen through the bottle, shows a reversed image of the label front. My preference would be to see no text, just white. Unfortunately there is no depth control when using cylindrical mapping. Do you have a solution? Thank you.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 месяца назад

      Have you tried toggling the 'two-sided' option in the texture properties? Otherwise, you could try using an occlusion texture node as an opacity mask in the material graph.

    Hi Will!! I don’t know how I could do something in Keyshot. I have a credit card 3D. I apply a label in the front, with the color of the card, name and so on. So this label has the same size than the 3D. Now I wanna make an animation of this card, scaling it to 120% an then back to 100%. I do that with the 3D, but the label remains at 100%. How can I change the part and label scale together?
    Best regards

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 месяца назад

      Hello. Short answer, this is not something KeyShot supports. You'd need to scale it in post production or instead, move your camera closer to the object to make it appear to scale. The only other approach I can think of would be tough, but to use a video texture that actually has the texture scaling up the same amount as the card does in 3D. But again, this sounds like it could be challenging if you're not sure how to create a video of the texture scaling.

    • @sagutxo82
      @sagutxo82 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for your time and knowledge. It’s extrange that it doesn’t support that, isn’t it? If you talk at some point with Mr Keyshot tell it!!
      I think I’m gonna lightly extrude the credit card name, logo, etc. then split surfaces to apply different colors.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  9 месяцев назад +2

      Please see my reply to peterclamp5781's comment about this same question. It is different depending on which version of the software you have. Alternatively, you could try using an occlusion texture tuned to black out the inside of the bottle and use it for an opacity mask.

      Check some of the other comments on this video. It looks like others have shared exactly how to solve this by enabling the feature in the preferences. Depending on which version you have, there is a different way to enable it. Older versions, you have to edit an .xml file, others, you enable experimental in preferences.
