Love this video Randy! I am a step van driver with my Amazon DSP. I drive the same truck you drive. I've been driving the box truck for over two years now. Been an Amazon delivery driver for almost three years now but thinking about delivering for UPS someday. I love the physical aspect of the job and working at a good and fast pace. I watch all of your videos. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there delivering!!
You really got to be a committed person to work at UPS spend years working at a warehouse to get a driver position and then you have to stay to make sure that it’s worth it by driving for probably at least three years. I got my CDL would’ve loved to work for UPS but after 1.5 years of driving I was over that. I took that money reinvested it into a new skill now I specialize in redecking swimming pools. I really love my job but man I have to admit I still think about if I would have been a UPS driver. Grass is always greener on the other side.
First time watching, great job Randy. I am drawn to watching anything UPS because my partner was a driver, long term back in the day. Started in the 70's. Retired at 60, 30 years in. Thought it was hard work but loved it. God bless you also.
This is a good video with some decent information. Keep in mind though the company operates differently depending on which part of the country you live in. UPS & the Teamsters are under what are called supplements which are different than the natuonal master agreement. I am a 22.4 in the Northeast and the hiring process is absolutely nothing like what Randy described here.
I’m starting as a pre loader in hopes to someday get on a truck, been a Delivery driver and package courier since I graduated high school, I started out with DHL , then Amazon Dsp Deliveries, then went to FedEx Ground Delivery services, I conversed with a few Ups drivers in my area and knew this was the move I had to make in my career as a package delivery driver, I’m not fond of the idea of working inside of a building but knowing the possibility that I could make it to driver position is worth it, I’m use to the long days heavy lifting and the need to rush to get the packages delivered on a set time schedule, what really got me interested in working for Ups is the structure, benefits, the ability to move up in positions and the respect UPS has over other delivery services.
Bro! This is literally me at the stage im in in my life right now! Did amazon as well. UPS seems like the play 10000% in the long run bro . Lets grind for that driver position !!
Good luck. I'd go with Mail man. It's a lot easier then it looks. UPS is a grind to get those benefits. You have to be there at least 9 months(work hours)for the benefits and five years for a pension.
PSA: UPS typically hires drivers from within the company - it’s not common that they post driving jobs to anybody as we are in a union. They only do once they’ve exhausted the list of *union employees* who want to drive and are then desperate to find drivers. The typical route to becoming a driver involves starting part time in the warehouse. Then once you gain 6 months seniority you can sign up on the driver lists, they are posted in the hub for 1 month in October, some hubs do April too. They will also post emergency driving lists at other times when needed, still before hiring off the streets. The lists then go by highest seniority, so depending how many drivers are needed you might be waiting for a long time, like years. Then the driving school they send you to is very rigorous, I work with a few guys who did not make it through and were sent back to the hub. I also work with many 22.4 “drivers” who are stuck in the hub right now, please note that 22.4 is not the same as a regular driver…. it’s a driving/inside combo. You’re basically a cover driver when needed but are sent inside the hub when not needed to drive, you’re not paid the same and I’ve heard people get stuck in that position not able to be come a real driver.
@@chaff5 currently the starting is 15.50 but with the new contract that’s happening it will go up and some hubs have an “Market Rate Adjustment” where they make more - it’s 23 starting at my hub. And yes driving either package cars or feeder is where the money/career is at!

I know you all work long hours but would rather have that than waking up at 3:30 or 4 in the morning 😬 one other pro to a driver is even though you have customers, you don’t deal with people much and are on your own. And it’s hands on work not being at a desk all day too 💯 that’s a big reason why I chose UPS. I am a little nervous for 30 day probation period due to pressure of delivering fast and etc or knowing routes but I have driven 16’ and a little bit of 26’ box trucks before so I could be ok driving package cars. Any thoughts, input, or anything for me??

Great video man. A couple years ago I started on local sort and then went driving. My third day I got injured. I was offered to go back to local saw, but I was so embarrassed that I just couldnt do it. Fast track to now my knee is a lot better and I want to give another shot so I’m hoping in the spring to go back to local sort and try it again.
This video just randomly showed up in my feed. I did subscribe though. I've never realized how all this UPS stuff works. I've worked for a carpet cleaning service in southern Oklahoma for the past 18 years. Maybe UPS is calling my name? Take care
Worked for UPS for 10 years. Overall Iif you wan tto work for this company that cares about numbers rather than people, work here. The reality is that these jobs go to people with senority within the hub not on the website. Most Major Hubs are about a 5 to 7 year wait for brown car driver. Overall I did this job and got the route called the "ball Breaker" got yelled at every night because I ran late due to preload.
I don’t mean to be a party pooper but beware of automation: everything a UPS employee can be done machine already, except for driving, which itself isn’t too far away now. You could say the Union will protect its employees but there’s little you can do when big corporations really make up their minds.
Hey Randy, I found this video very helpful I just thought that people don’t just become drivers that fast you must work in the hub (warehouse) for a year or 2 then you become a driver I could be wrong? Keep up the good work!
Love your video the one thing you left out once they pass training. They will be going out with a driver. The UPS driver train the newer driver. Every new driver they get a training route and that route has less stop
Bro y’all don’t have to start as a package handler because in California you have start in the hub for 1 to 3 years base on your sonority date and wait to become a 22.4
In Yonkers NY site there is Hipaa and OSCHA violations, regulation and laws are not applied at this location. My friend had to leave his night shift job after his criminal record had been exposed by his boss to his coworkers. Shame on you UPS. He just needed a job!!
I send in my application and I get a call so far so good I am waiting for my driving test, so i am praying for the space ,bless up yourself thank for the info 🙏😁
Was "let go" in 2016 by UPS after 21 years at the only job I really loved. Always ran good numbers and ran bonus daily, but 1 bad day after years of crappy loaders sealed my fate(not delivering 2 misloads) ended that. even at 55 I could still rock just like a "runner" and run under except for them damn Mall routes as they have really lousy time studies
Like many have said before, what he’s saying is not the norm. Most UPS drivers start as part-time warehouse employees. Generally speaking you would start loading trailers or the brownies (delivery trucks) for 2-10 years, depending on your buildings’ needs. Then you have the opportunity to apply for delivery driver(rpcd). Seniority rules at UPS. When you go driving, you have 30 working days of probation(make packet, make book, different areas call it differently). After that, you’re good, UPS cannot legitimately fire you for anything other than stealing, fighting, or any other forms of dishonesty or creating a hostile work environment. The good thing is, the Union (Teamsters), will fight to get your job back if you are fired. Hub(warehouse) work is back breaking, most people have 2 or 3 jobs while waiting for the opportunity to go driving. You can get lucky and get hired off of the street but it’s rare, and not the best way to get hired… Learn every level of logistics and move up traditionally and you’ll have an easier time overall.
Great video letting us know what Integrad is about… I hear you have to learn what they call the 5’s and 10’s… how well should I know them? I go to Integrad in a few weeks. Thanks!
Brother I’m with frito lay now and have been for almost 3 years. I’m on the hunt to become a UPS driver. Always wanted to. I’m gonna keep an eye out on my local ups career website couple times a day to hopefully get hired as a driver on outside. ✝️🙏✝️
Just got through the DOT physical and have the first Integrad training starting next Monday. This was helpful, thanks! Also, is there not a drug test? I keep expecting one at some step, I am from the mortgage industry desk jockey land where background check and drug test were up front and tentative with your offer letter. I assumed any driver position would have that pre employment.
My friend is a ups driver in Texas. I served in the military with him. He's been at ups for 15 years... he's been a driver for 12 years. He makes well over 100,000 a year. I've been at UPS for 6 months. Been offered a supervisor position twice. Turned it down twice. I want to remain in the union and be a driver.
This looks all new. I tried applying when we first move to Norcal mt shasta 3 years ago.. I went online. tried doin the steps. then they wanted some test online. I couldn't figure it out. I think its sucks its all online. u should be abled to apply in person..
What type of license is required to drive the vehicle in your video is it class a b or c. Just got a call back and trying to get this job! Thank you ! Amazing video.
How many hours a week does one work as a driver and how long are your days? Does everyone more or less start at the same time? How often does one rescue other drivers (sorry if UPS uses a different term)? I’m hearing conflicting stories about how drivers are treated. The older drivers say there’s abuse from the hub managers but younger/newer drivers say it’s much different now? Thoughts? What are some potential rule changes -if any- prospective drivers should know about going into this line of work? Any major or mild changes UPS might make that drivers should know about? I drove for Amazon for 2 years before leaving. Body still has plenty of gas left in the tank. Debating whether I should go to college or settle for a high paying labor job 🤔 Thanks in advance
Good luck!! I will say feeders are based off of seniority so I’m pretty sure you have to start as a package car driver then get your senority then bid for a feeder position!
Yeah I’ve heard of that but we have a new building opening up and I’ve heard that they are short on feeder drivers so fingers crossed they pick me off the street if not I’ll try to be a yard shifter or go package car
Hi Randy. Thanks for the video. I just did my second peak season this time as a driver helper so I felt like I needed to get up in that jump seat and run packages. I'm totally cool with starting in the warehouse. Do you have any advice for me? I never missed a day and I think being on time is being late.
Im in driver training right now after doing preload/unload for a little over a year. All the training is good, i understand the 5s & 10s byt so far not much practical, hands on training. Like i havent driven the truck since my road test. For you, what was the toughest part about passing all the drill tests, etc.? Or what was the toughest part of learning the routine? DIAD, driving, the route? Thanks!
Once management needs some dirt on this guy they'll be claiming he stole time makin this video. Keep skipping your lunch rookie! They love it when you falsify your timecard so they can scare you with losing your job or just fire you because Randy 2.0 is here and he's slightly faster and will be making less money.
Great video. But..In my case, Fl I been working in the warehouse as unloader for year and a half getting pay 2-3 hours a day and physically so tired that I can’t even perform my second job. Because is a fact: working for UPS in the warehouse is not enough to pay even the half of a rent here. The drivers that get in from the street got fired after peak season. At lest this is my case in Florida. Thanks four your videos. 👍🏼
@@Fishharder-jg8mx agree! I have a full time job driving for another company to support my family until I get a driving position at UPS. 12 to 16 hours a day. 5 days at UPS and 6 at the other one.
Does ups give you a sequence of stops like 1-2-3-4-5 and you go in order or is it just a bunch of dots on a map and you figure it out because I worked for FedEx Express and they just had a bunch of dots on a map when I was there and about 5 pickups per route with hour long commit times and we were told to just figure it out
@@Randywithups2 oh okay that makes me want to try UPS but I heard this guy at FedEx telling horror stories about how no one gets past the 30 day probation because they just fire them at 28 or 29 days and get new people
You'll probably have to figure out the next day air part of the route to the 1030am commit time (like that p1 cycle of express) Then you start doing that FedEx ground type of p&d process the rest of the day
I have orientation for seasonal feeder driver next week do they offer you a postion even if its not a driver postion when the season over 🤔 and is it possible i could get hired on as a driver with out going in the warehouse?
I currently work as a delivery driver for Amazon and UPS is very intriguing. Question, I’m short (5’3), would I still get hired at ups (if I apply) since I’m short and all? Or height doesn’t matter?
I got a hire date for a seasonal driver helper. I hope it turns into something permanent. I have to go in Monday for 4 hours. I don't know what its gonna entaile but I'm nervous!!!

The reality is that these jobs go to people with senority within the hub not on the website. Most Major Hubs are about a 5 to 7 year wait for brown car driver. Overall I did this job and got the route called the "ball Breaker" got yelled at every night because I ran late due to preload.
I just got hired as a pre-loader. I’m looking forward to what my future with UPS can look like!
True true!
@@Randywithups2 when are you going to make a new videos? I’ve been looking forward to your video
You forgot the 5 seeing habits and 10 point commentary. That you must have it memorized. Word for word for the 5s.
Where I'm from, in New York it's work 40 days within a 70 day period
Bro I got a job offer as a driver helper/walker (seasonal position) hopefully I can get into being a driver. Drove for Amazon for a year.
Bro y’all don’t have to start as a package handler because in California you have start in the hub for 1 to 3 years base on your sonority date and wait to become a 22.4
Just different by region
Yep looking like four years now:(
In Yonkers NY site there is Hipaa and OSCHA violations, regulation and laws are not applied at this location. My friend had to leave his night shift job after his criminal record had been exposed by his boss to his coworkers. Shame on you UPS. He just needed a job!!
Heads up, as of right now (I'm SoCal based) there are layoffs and nobody will be moved up to drivers for a long time now
I send in my application and I get a call so far so good I am waiting for my driving test, so i am praying for the space ,bless up yourself thank for the info 🙏😁
What is your schedule like? Do you work everyday and how many hours typically? Also how are holidays handled?
I’ve got my interview and road test on Monday! I’m really hoping to get in! I’m pre nervous for the interview so hope I crush it!
I’m Surprised the Union didn’t get your job back, for you.
@@TheEwing69He's probably leaving shit out.
Wow! Sounds like a good gig! Thanks for the info.
I really had my eye on this position and this video helped so much!
How about a thorough break down of initial road test and written text expectations? Non cdl
You can get lucky and get hired off of the street but it’s rare, and not the best way to get hired…
Learn every level of logistics and move up traditionally and you’ll have an easier time overall.
Sounds good, Probably I'll switch from Amazon (current step van driver) to UPS
Good luck. Let me know if you get in.
Great video letting us know what Integrad is about…
I hear you have to learn what they call the 5’s and 10’s… how well should I know them?
I go to Integrad in a few weeks.
Thanks!
Brother I’m with frito lay now and have been for almost 3 years. I’m on the hunt to become a UPS driver. Always wanted to. I’m gonna keep an eye out on my local ups career website couple times a day to hopefully get hired as a driver on outside. ✝️🙏✝️
Thumbs Up! Always wondered how it goes .
Great video! I’m a UPS driver in UK, I love it and earn an amazing salary 😁
Thanks God Randy I m the lucky one got in ups as a driver from street
Can you make a video on how to know what routes to do first so you don’t go back to the same block
Was hoping for more info on how to get the call and how to apply it seems like that’s gonna be the hardest part for me
This video is gonna blow up very very soon
There rumors going around that they gonna lay off junior 22.4 drivers. My union manager told me they might lay off couple of people in my terminal.
Crazy
This looks all new. I tried applying when we first move to Norcal mt shasta 3 years ago.. I went online. tried doin the steps. then they wanted some test online. I couldn't figure it out. I think its sucks its all online. u should be abled to apply in person..
Great video, I thought everyone starts working in the wearhouse before becoming a driver.
God bless you brother thanks for sharing you’ve got a great heart
What type of license is required to drive the vehicle in your video is it class a b or c. Just got a call back and trying to get this job! Thank you ! Amazing video.
I believe it’s a c class.
I'ts hard to become a UPS Driver in CA , I'm Currently working as a Amazon DSP Driver and you know it :)
That’s awesome!!!
Fr
Nevada makes you start in the warehouse then during integrad you must recite your 5’s and 10,s verbatim!!!
Usually about everywhere
Nice video. Good luck in your career at UPS
Debating whether I should go to college or settle for a high paying labor job 🤔
Thanks in advance
I will make a video over all this!!!
@@Randywithups2 please make a video!
60 plus hours a week!!
@@jeffjoyce269 at our hub we can’t pass 60 hrs
Thank you for this video .
Great video I’m hoping to take it one step further and try to get hired as a feeder driver like my dad
@@justintinnen7681 if you got that inside info, and already got the CDLA, doesn't hurt to apply
Hi Randy. Thanks for the video. I just did my second peak season this time as a driver helper so I felt like I needed to get up in that jump seat and run packages. I'm totally cool with starting in the warehouse. Do you have any advice for me? I never missed a day and I think being on time is being late.
It’s 40 days here in Chicago
whaat is the difference between a city driver and a freight PU delivery driver? I want to drive a truck like this.
What would you suggest wearing to the interview? Very informative video, thank you.
Great Video!
While you making videos I know them AIRS better be on time!!!😂😂😂
I been 22.4 for 1yr so far. Intergrad is hardest part for real.
Haha true true no late air!!!! Yes agreed!
Thanks in Oklahoma, I will give it a shot.
I miss working for ups. Been there for 13years. Got fired for buying a jacket on the clock. 🤦🏽♂️
That’s ridiculous!!!!
How you get fired for that ? They didn’t like you or something
@@Giantjolly my manager, hated me. And it didn’t make it any better the fact that the union was in war with management.
I wanna be a UPS but I was told I have to be a package handler and then move up because it's a union job
Brilliant video...and great dance moves😂
Hey, I was just wondering if you have to know how to drive a stick shift(manual) to drive for UPS?
Most centers are automatic transmissions nowadays
Most *are* automatic, but it’s typically said that you are expected to know manual
Randy that is a really good informative video on UPS. Just one question:- Do they keep 60 plus guys who are physically fit??
Thanks for the video
Im in driver training right now after doing preload/unload for a little over a year. All the training is good, i understand the 5s & 10s byt so far not much practical, hands on training. Like i havent driven the truck since my road test. For you, what was the toughest part about passing all the drill tests, etc.? Or what was the toughest part of learning the routine? DIAD, driving, the route? Thanks!
generally speaking, what are you hours daily? do you work weekends? how does overtime work?
No weekends but I work 8-10 hours a day
If you start as a 22.4 driver, you'll definitely be working Saturday
Can’t live full time lifestyle on part time pay.
@@Fishharder-jg8mx agree! I have a full time job driving for another company to support my family until I get a driving position at UPS. 12 to 16 hours a day. 5 days at UPS and 6 at the other one.
Does ups give you a sequence of stops like 1-2-3-4-5 and you go in order or is it just a bunch of dots on a map and you figure it out because I worked for FedEx Express and they just had a bunch of dots on a map when I was there and about 5 pickups per route with hour long commit times and we were told to just figure it out
Both it has a system where it tells you the order but once you know your route you run it the most efficient way!
@@Randywithups2 oh okay that makes me want to try UPS but I heard this guy at FedEx telling horror stories about how no one gets past the 30 day probation because they just fire them at 28 or 29 days and get new people
@@jeff0997 only way is to find out your self
You'll probably have to figure out the next day air part of the route to the 1030am commit time (like that p1 cycle of express)
Then you start doing that FedEx ground type of p&d process the rest of the day
I have orientation for seasonal feeder driver next week do they offer you a postion even if its not a driver postion when the season over 🤔 and is it possible i could get hired on as a driver with out going in the warehouse?
I currently work as a delivery driver for Amazon and UPS is very intriguing. Question, I’m short (5’3), would I still get hired at ups (if I apply) since I’m short and all? Or height doesn’t matter?
If I start out as a seasonal driver helper, will I be able to become a full-time driver?
I got a hire date for a seasonal driver helper. I hope it turns into something permanent. I have to go in Monday for 4 hours. I don't know what its gonna entaile but I'm nervous!!!
So how'd it go? Did you get on permanently?
I live in Southern California , I followed every instruction you said but the only position available nearby is warehouse handler at starting pay is $16.10, any advise?
yep in California that's how it usually works, i used to work at ups and most of the people working the floor were on a waitlist to move to a driver when the position opened
I'm starting Tuesday 10/10/2023 as a seasonal worker, what do i need to do to stay after those 3 months end.
