    Suzie you only fill the french dip tray with powder to the top of the little hump. Your finger is suppose to rest on that so your smile line and thickness match.
    Hope this helps.

    If anyone is curious, I'm pretty sure that bedazzled cylinder that she's using to rest her fingers is actually a case to put in body mists from bath and body works. Its like an entire set with a candle, candle holder, air freshener, the body mist case, a hand soap case, and a little hand sanitizer case.......and I bought all of them....

      And if it's not that, it's extremely similar! Just look it up on the website

    Hi Suzie, I'm a certified nail tech in this technique, you can take more your time when doing the white smile line to get it accurate, but when your dipping the whole finger you need to do it very quick or else it gets very thick and you have a whole lot more filing to do ;) hope this helps !

      Sara, is it possible to pinch a fanned nail edge when using the dipping technique? At what point during the process can you apply a pinching tool or manually pinch the edges?

    Hay Suzie, I use the SNS dipping system and the French has a technique. You need to have the power level and not as much as you put in the dipping container. If you look at the container there are two different shapes this gives to different curves. You put your finger on the edge of the side you want to use and gently slide your nail in to the desired level. For your first go you did a great job! I ❤️ videos and check every day for new up loads.

    If you slide the nail into the French white just below horizontal you will get the perfect smile line. 😊

  • @NadiraJamal
    @NadiraJamal 7 лет назад +2

    One tip: the purpose of the case is to help you get a consistent smile line. You're supposed to slide your finger into the powder along the little ramp, so you get a consistent angle on every finger. (And the two ramps are at different angles so you can get a shallower or deeper line.) You can totally free dip like you did in the video, but that takes a lot more practice.
    Also: the pink doesn't soften the white noticeably if you tap off very well before you apply the next coat of base. (I sometimes brush it lightly with a fan brush.) Once the white powder is on the tip, it has coated all of the base, so the surface isn't sticky anymore, and very very little of the pink sticks. When I do it with colors or glitter, though, even a couple of specs are noticeable. One way around that is to do the last coat with white and clear instead of white and pink.

  • @melissacruz7946
    @melissacruz7946 7 лет назад +88

    Hello, try resting your finger on the edge of the white dipping tray and then slide your finger into the powder to get the smile line the same. Also, each side of the tray offers a different curve to the smile line.

    Hi Suzie, thank you for your video's😘 I would like to correct you on the way you use the dipping tray (I'm qualified in acrylic dip) the dipping tray has two dipping sides and you should fill the tray only half way as the one side gives a stronger smile line than the other and has two different depths, you slide your finger into the tray to create the smile line you desire😘 I love your video's and wish I had an educator like you when I did my nail course xxx thank you so much❤

    I have the SNS system and have that same french dip tray. Your meant to put your finger resting on the plastic and slide it down the plastic into the powder. like going down a slide if that makes sense haha And one side should make a deeper arch in the french and the other will make it a straighter french due to the depth of the slide into the powder. I hope I'm making sense but its the only way i can explain it lol Have a great day Suzie, I've always loved your videos! xx :)

    I've just recently learned about this system and am intrigued by it! I think one thing that could help the French line is to keep the dipping tray on the table where it doesn't move and then dip your finger into it to avoid the line being different the next time you dip.

    • @SassyWinterFox
      @SassyWinterFox 7 лет назад +2

      Evelyn Acosta hey lovely you can do both. i prefer form for my bitten nails as that is how you get the full use of the nail bed. Susie did a service on a biter in another video and she uses a form there i think.

    • @madison10201
      @madison10201 7 лет назад +6

      Both have worked for me, Im a nail biter too. What I can tell you is that acrylic helps with the problem a lot and with the time you start to lose this bad habit :D

    • @kirara85285
      @kirara85285 7 лет назад +5

      Severe nail biter here (nails less than 1cm in length at worst times) and I've had both form and tip done before. Both work just as good, it depends on whatever your nail technician is better at what they think is better suited for your nail.
      The tips put on my fingers were generally altered to cover 3/4 of my short nails and I found that I was able to easily pick at the tip from the bottom. Forms were better for me since it felt more stable since the acrylic makes use of the full nail bed instead of just a small section. I've been told that tips on short nails would be easier to snap/break off, but I have yet to break any of my nails.

    • @petrescuework-difficultcas6581
      @petrescuework-difficultcas6581 7 лет назад +2

      Madi Thome Buying a drill and a cuticle remover bit changed the liftings I had drastically. I barely have minimal cuticle liftings now. Most are due to me being fed up spending hours on my nails and for that working too fast and not proper enough.
      I still have tip liftings though which are horrible. They often are along half of the nailbed and annoy me that much that I will most likely quit doing nails for now.

      Depending on the line (and how many powders they include) starter kits run $70-180.
      If you just want to see if you like the dip format, ASP makes a sample size kit with pink & white and one color that you can get at Sally's for $25ish US, and Kiss makes a kit with clear powder only that you can find in drugstores for $15ish US.
      For the long-term, I definitely recommend getting a full system from one of the major lines. But the mini kits are a good way to see if you like the format. Just be aware that they don't include the bond/primer, so you won't get an accurate wear test.
      (They also don't have the brush cleaner, tray, cuticle oil, or separate top coat.)

    • @razorbackh7156
      @razorbackh7156 7 лет назад

      Nail Career Education please show a removal video. As much as I would like to try something new it's hard finding a video that shows removal from a non-salon owner perspective. I don't have an electric drill. How hard is it to remove a dip system without an edrill? Can you refill these nails at the base? Or is it better to remove the old application?
      I really enjoy your show. I have learned so much. You are appreciated!

      Ken H you just have to soak it off with acetone. You can remove it without the drill this way. I haven’t filled mine but I do think she has a video up for that now.

    It looks like u could dip several times for strength or vivid colors, like light purple with sparkly purple on top half.

    Just had this done on my nails quite recently. Slightly pricy to have done at a salon but worth it. Super natural looking

    glad you're feeling better! I think this is a really cool way to do french tips. I would love to see you combining the dip powders to make a new color or even just loosely mixing them to do a kind of swirled/tie dye design

    Your videos give me life. You are very talented and very detailed I love it. I think you did a really good job my favorite nail was the first one you did. Even though you say the white part was a little more than you liked it to be I thought it was so pretty. Thank you for the video. I’m so excited to try my kit out.
