Understanding the latches on cables is very important. I did not recognize a design change on a battery connector and damaged the connector on the board because they added a retainer clip. I also dealt with a zif socket incorrectly but that was easy to fix.
This is a general statement. I was not working on a yoga.
Resoldering the battery is going to be a pain.
Yeah...it sucks. They keep Making different designs to throw people off.

I love my Yoga 720 w/ i7, 16Gb, 4K, Nvidia GTX GPU
Now with 2tb from 512gb
Cloned the disk and made the 512gb into an external M.2 storage

Hey Mark, I have the best buy model 720 15in 80X7001SUS - "installed physical memory" shows- 16gb, does this mean 8gb (soldered) & 8gb physical? so I can replace it with a 16gb ram and have 24gb total or am I maxed out? Also what 2tb ssd did you purchase for the upgrade?

Nice vid, my issue is “I am suspecting” with the cd-in port cause my laptop won’t charge and even without battery and directly connected with the brick would not start so I am hoping is just the cd-in port otherwise is the motherboard in which case is not worth the fixing 😣

There was a little round sticker on that screw (that holds the SSD Drive) which I have now removed (This is my very first time opening this laptop ever) That screw (that holds the SSD Drive) is NOT budging, what do I need to do to loosen that so that I can switch that out with my new SSD drive?
Responded in another comment. Important to have the right size screwdriver.

Needs to be the same style drive.
If I am just upgrading disk space and/or RAM, does windows need to be reinstalled?
