- welcome to another video 😚 this time it's a little bit different, though... it's the first sit down talk video on this channel!!!! how was it? 🥺
i was very stressed and awkward just sitting there and talking to the camera and it's actually my second try on this video, i filmed it for the first time on the day when i also filmed the unboxing of my nunew doll but i wasn't satisfied with it so i decided to film again 😅 i think this time it's slightly less awkward 😂
and this time i included polish subtitles! at first i was actually going to put some thai subtitles instead but i quickly realized that i was being overly ambitious and in fact i don't have enough skills to write so many thai subtitles by myself and of course i'm not going to use google translate... 🥲

Very rediculous. Most foreigners have comments how lives changed after they can/know Thai. Once you get local friends, life will be a lot easier. It doesn’t mean knowing Thai will limited your ability to apply for job, On the contrary, it will increase her working opportunity.

While people from Cities think small towns are great, cuz they are so "chill", laid-back, affordable cost, wonderful to escape the stressful life in the city, and full of beautiful nature. Finally a place to where someone can rest.😊

Vera, thank you very much for sharing tboughts with us. I am an American who retired and moved to Hua Hin last October. The city has very nice beaches and the cost of living is very reasonable. The city is very easy to get around, and is not as crowded as Bangkok. I have met people from all over the world. Best of luck to you and hope that you get the chance to explore other cities in addition to Bangkok. Stay healthy and safe. 😊 Ed W

Honestly I love the bold, and optimistic attitude towards not knowing how you foresee the future playing out, but still willing to push through the discomfort and living your life using your intuition.
I feel like you made a few good points and I like them especially as they relate to my own experiences! My first trip to Thailand was last August and I stayed for a little over a month, and after a few weeks the touristic attitude dies down and it starts to begin like you're living there. Unfortunately with no obligations, as you mentioned, it gets a bit depressing despite it still being a wonderful country. But that's exactly why you have to set yourself up with habits and activities that are going to shape your life. I guess it just feels a bit more strange having to manually think of these things, as our routine and lifestyle is shaped more automatically back in our home countries.
So I think learning Thai is a great idea, and if it provides you that motivation and sense of goal everyday as you wake up, then it's completely what you should be doing (and obviously learning the language is going to benefit you in many ways as well). I also appreciate your point about standing out too much in a small town/city, when compared to the anonymity of living in a large one. I come from the same type of situation (rural Canada), and it just doesn't compare to being around a lively city. There's many reasons why, such as peoples mentalities in the country are too rigid and similar, but to put it simply I think cities give you a stronger sense of identity.
I appreciate your selfless views and wish you luck with your future endeavors! With your attitude and courage I'm sure you will do well. I'm happy I came across your video because it fosters inspiration for people who are trying to setup themselves up to live a similar life.
PS. I do plan to rent an apartment in BKK for only a couple months to do a CELTA course next year, do you have any good tips/tricks for finding one aside from the popular platforms like airbnb, facebook groups, etc.? How was your experience trying to find fairly priced rentals? Thanks!
And also I wouldn't mind asking how you're planning to stay there continuously; is visa hopping something you're comfortable with, are you staying using an alternate way? I'd understand if you prefer to not go too much in detail

Apply for a job as English teacher in Bangkok. I am sure you will get it and can make friends with a lot of Thai students. Working permit is not so important because you are beautiful teacher. Every school wants you.

@@verainbangkok No, don't go to local school jobs if you're not really interested in. You'd better off with remote works. Find full-time remote jobs in the US or Europe and live here in Thailand. Freelancing via good freelance site is also a good choice.

Just work online with italki. You can have many students. I’m a native speaker but your English is very advanced. It doesn’t hurt you’re pretty. Good luck

I live in Thailand for the last 26 month. I'll give you some advice:
- Stay outside of Krung Thep and try to live in some area next to it and just 1-1.5 (the most) hour away from the big city, with transportation. I suggest Samut Prakan or Nonthaburi, because there's connection with MRT and BTS.
- Get used, the sooner you can, on Thai food. Foreign food and restaurants are very expensive. Generally speaking, anything foreign or imported costs a lot of money.
- You need a very good Thai friend. A friend that will help you on many situations that you'll face. A reliable, honor and sincere person... That person will communicate with the delivery guys and the postmen when you are expecting some parcel; will let you use his/her Visa card because the limit of your debit cards will be very low; you will be able to have your moto, although he/she will be the owner.

2. การจะหางานทำถ้าคุณมีวุฒิการศึกษา เช่นจบปริญญาตรี ก็อาจข่วยส่งเสริมให้คุณหาโอกาสได้เพิ่มมากขึ้น (ปล. คุณไม่ลองหาทางเรียน ป.ตรี ที่เดิมให้จบ โดยเรียนแบบออนไลน์ได้ไหม ถ้าไม่ได้ ก็ลองหาข้อมูลว่า มีมหาลัยในไทยที่สามารถโอนย้านหน่วยกิจที่คุณได้เรียนไปแล้วจากมหาลัยเดิม มายังมหาลัยใหม่ที่คุณจะเรียนต่อในไทย เพื่อลดระยะเวลาในการเรียน ต่อของคุณนะ
)
และกรณีคุณจะหางานทำใหม่ โดยคิดจะอาศัยวุฒิปริญญา คุณได้วางแผนจะทำงานอะไรอ่ะ ผมว่างานก็สำคัญ เพราะจะเป็นแหละรายได้นะ โดยเฉพาะการจะอาศัยในเมืองใหญ่ ซึ่งจะมีค่าใช้จ่ายที่สูงกว่าในชนบท เพราะอย่างในไทย ผมว่า อย่างในกทม ค่าใช้จ่ายต่อเดือน อาจสูงกว่าในชนบท ระหว่าง 1-2 เท่ากับค่าใช้จ่ายในชนบทในไทยได้เหมือนกันนะครับ
3. ทางด้านวัฒนธรรม อาจต้องมีการปรับตัว เพราะการมาอาศัยต้องอยู่ในสังคมจริงแบบยาวๆนานๆ กับ การมาเป็นนักท่องเที่ยว มันก็ต่างกัน เพราะการมาอาศัยอยู่ คุณอาจจะต้องยอมรับกับ สถานะการณ์บางอย่างด้วยเช่นกัน เช่น สังคมไทยจะประนีประนอม มากๆ จนบางครั้งบางเรื่อง ถ้าเป็นต่างประเทศอาจจะไม่สามารถยอมรับได้ แต่ถ้าคุณมาอาศัยในไทย คุณก็ต้องปรับตัวและยอมรับเรื่องหรือสิ่งเหล่านั้นให้ได้นะครับ แบบนี้เป็นต้น
ผมก็หวังว่า คุณVera จะคันพบวิธี และแนวทางที่ดี เหมาะสม ที่จะช่วยให้ปรับตัว และหาช่องทาง เช่น การเรียน การงานต่างๆ รวมถึงการปรับตัวเพื่อหาสิ่งที่เหมาะสมกับตัวเอง ที่จะทำให้อยู่ในเมืองไทยได้ในที่สุด้วยนะครับ

18 years ago I made the same decision. 4 months later I boarded a plane with two suitcases. August 22, 2024 I will start my 19th year. I love this place. (I love Bangkok but live in Pattaya) Never looked back. For those who wish to follow your brave example, the best advice I can offer is make a life for yourself. I know a lot who have made it and some who did not. Is always those who fail to create a life of meaning for themselves that do not. To you Vera I wish you the best in life and your happiness. im glad you choose one of my favorite country to settle in. getting out of your comfort zone always open new doors to another dimension. i was fearless when i was younger and i make decisions quick without any plan. im not afraid to fall. i have all the time in the world. as i get older i realize that time is the most valuable thing in this world. once time passes you can never get it back. i lost so much time because i never made any plans short term and longterm for my future. don’t be like me. enjoy your every moment but always look far ahead. if you fail to plan then you are planning to fail. i wish you good luck and be safe always. godspeed.

ปกติคนไทยก็ไม่เอารัดเอาเปรียบนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติอยู่แล้วครับเพราะคนไทยก็เกลียดพฤติกรรมแบบนี้เหมือนกัน แต่ก็คงปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่ามีคนที่ทำแบบนั้นอยู่จริงๆ ซึ่งก็คงจะมีเหมือนกันทุกที่บนโลกแหล่ะ ค่อยๆเรียนรู้วิธีหลบเลี่ยงคนพวกนี้ไว้ต่อไปก็ไม่มีปัญหาแล้วครับ

Before I moved here I visited Thailand for 4 years, and every year I spent 2-3 months in the country to travel around, discover and find out how is the life here before I move. Without plans is a bit harder, but not impossible. Do a TEFL course and after find an English teaching job, that is the easiest way to live in Thailand on a long term. You can get English teaching job without that, but much harder and will pay much less! The jobs foreign can do here is very limited! If you really want to stay long-term you have to figure out very fast how you can work/make plan... Because money can run out very fast and living here and being on a trip is much different! But good luck, nothing is impossible, but not forget this is not the EU where you can stay in the country without any problem and find a job easily!
Learning Thai is a minimimum and make your life way better. I'm learning Thai myself and the people much different if you speak, even a little bit Thai. 🤣 Learning Thai is challenging but fun and rewarding! Anyway I'm originally from Hungary so our countries almost neighbours 😁
I love my life here. I have a lot of free time so I travel around and make videos about the places, events, etc and share on my channel. Because I'm a photographer/videographer I love to do my hobby even not much people find my channel.
You can stay in Thailand as long as you can. I'll support you anyway.

You can succeed on a whim just winging it..the odds become greater but it's not to say it's not possible..it's like turning off the transponder and flying at night in pitch black..usually it takes years of prep much like getting the sailboat ready for that trans oceanic voyage. Best of luck

That's right to learn Thai because it's useful in your daily life. I recommended you to do trip vlog or easy life style in Thailand as a youtuber. You may apply to be a model at the famous modeling as well.

Great story and I'll hope you will make this work. Why not take time to learn some skill that you can do online. At least, you will be able to easily make some money down the road. You mentioned you saved for 2 or 3 months before going to Thailand, but I assume you don't want to solely rely on your savings and you can't live from just the air.
But stay positive no matter what happens and it's a very smart move to learn the Thai language by the way.
