+barcelonista girl Hi there. :) Maybe I can help answer your questions about these Fushigi Yuugi OVAs. I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but this is what I think is happening: *TV SERIES:* At the end of the series, Miaka's last wish is for her world to be fixed (since Nakago and Seiryuu started destroying it). That means she couldn't use the last wish for herself (which was impossible anyway), so she and Tamahome couldn't be together...but, at the end of the series, Keisuke mentions that a new transfer student showed up at his school...and that he had a "past life" with a priestess...and he's waited "thousands of years" to return to her. Obviously the transfer student is Tamahome, and he still remembers Miaka. :) ================================ *1st OVA:* It looks like that "thousands of years" part might be an exaggeration (or the timeline was retconned), and only a few months/years had actualy passed. The reason why Tamahome still remembers Miaka and who he is in because of the "wedding" ring Miaka gave him. It linked him to her world, and let him maintain his memories. Miaki's own "wedding" ring became her Shinzahou, and Tenkou (the bad guy in this OVA) needs it in order to rule the universe. But Miaka is being protected by her Shinzahou, and Yui doesn't have one anymore (but she still has spiritual powers)...so that's why Yui got possessed. She became the priestess of Genbu this time because...well, I'm not sure why. But since Suzuka is still connected to Miaka, and Seiryuu was sealed up...she probably could've been Byakko's priestess instead. Maybe since the Genbu priestess had been dead longer, it made passing her powers down a lot easier? I guess Tenkou's plan was this: either I capture Miaka and her Shinzahou (with Tomo's help), OR I use the possessed Yui/Priestess of Genbu to steal the Shinzahou from Miaka. So Yui was going to be his trump card if everything else failed. Anyway: Tomo might have been partially alive due to the earrings he gave Nakago (and one of those earrings was given to Yui); part of his life force may have been inside the earrings, so when Yui got freed/reborn from Seiryuu, so did Tomo. Tamahome was targeted because Tomo wanted revenge AND because of the plan to bring Miaka back to their world. Suboshi came back because he and Amiboshi are in ONE body (in the TV series, when Suboshi died, Amiboshi said he "felt sad" and then he "felt whole". That's because Suboshi's spirit went inside of Amiboshi when he died). Suboshi wanted to protect Yui and defeat Tomo again; that's why he came back. Nakago's spirit came back to help the Suzuka Seven since he finally found peace and wanted to set things right. ================================ *2nd OVA:* Since having a link between both worlds is a bad thing, Tamahome had to return his "wedding" ring in the 1st OVA. But he also had memories of Miaka...and that caused a link as well. So Chichiri sealed away all of Tamahome's memories. That way, both worlds would be safe...AND, it also meant that Tamahome could be reborn in the modern world (as Taka) and finally be with Miaka for good. This could also mean that maybe Tamahome committed suicide so he could be reborn (or maybe death is the side effect of having your memories sealed away)...but that hasn't been explained yet. The other six Suzuka members (or rather, the 4 who were already dead) could be reborn as well...but an evil presence is preventing that. All of these bad guys have a connection to Tenkou, who was apparently their leader.

The only confusion i have is that in the first ova 50 years has passed and they met the new emperor which was hotohori's great grandson and now in the second ova 2yrs had past since their last visit but now they see hotohori's son. Someone please answer me
First off, the scene where Chichiri touches Tasuki's hand was funny, and second off, that scene with Hotohori had me crying so freaking much. It's hurt so bad I can't stop my tears to follow, hotohori really love his son and wife but he can only do is to watch over them. But I adore him because despite of all even his already death he do his best to love and keep them safe no matter what. 😭😭

This is for me the most precious episode of all. Makes me wanna wish this was not just one episode but the whole OVA. No matter how many times I've rewatched this, still makes me cry every time. I love Hotohori in the original series but this ep made me love him even more.

Tamahome is my first anime crush and for me, he is the best lead guy for Miaka. They deserve and love each other to the point wherein impossible becomes possible (who would have thought that Tamahome can be with her in the real world as Taka? And *** spoiler *** the two of them empowered and summon Suzaku with their love and own lives). While I'm saying this, can't help but ship Miaka with Tasuki as well. Well, I did ship Hotohori and Nuriko with her, too. But I still, I find Tamahome the best for her. These guys are really amazing, hot, and soft-hearted. It's just that, Miaka does not deserve any of them. I don't dislike Miaka tho, among the priestesses (excluding Genbu's and Byakko's), I like Miaka best than Yui and Mayo because Miaka risked her life fighting with the seven warriors. But still, she was usually clumsy, impulsive, and indecisive that the warriors ended up hurting or dying especially Tamahome. But I like Yui now as well tho unlike with the first series. I like her character development. Anyway, I'm falling in love with Tasuki since the first season. When I was a kid, I did not appreciate him. But now as a 24-yr old woman, gosh, he became a favorite as well. And he reminds me of Fruit Baskets' Kyo. I hope he would fall in love with a girl who deserves him.
Fun Fact, Especially for Tasuki's fans: In Manga, Taka and Miaka was able to see Tasuki's Mom, Sis and his dad before this good old sweet kiss occurred. Y'all be finna be happy to see his fam around, though too bad they're not here in the series
