Ok, two things about this episode: one, i don't think they are made up characters, because they even said the book was written about a legend. i think that it is a portal to another world. and two, Yui is getting on my nerves. at first, i felt sorry for her because she had been lied to, but now she is being selfish and petty!
For me, that kinda devalues Tamahome's love, like he only loved her because SHE created HIM. :S (Well, kinda like God expects us to love Him because He created us ... except in this case, we rebelled against Him.)
I think they are all real, just in different worlds.The only thing is that the passage way that goes between the worlds IS the book, which isn't full of prewriten chAracters, it just begins to write down the history or story of when the girls go through that passage way which is other wise known as the book.
not really, it is just a story that writes itself when the girls read it, but once the wishes are granted the stories come to an end and the real people have to go back to reality because there nothing else to write until some other girl starts reading the book again, each character in the story plays an only role like any author would think of, so what Tamahome said at the end of the book is the reality of everything and reveals the secret of the book.

However, the book came into life due to magical powers from the 4 gods, hence, the reason why it writes the legend of the gods by itself whenever a young girl from Miaka's world comes to find it and chooses the girl to be its priestess. So really... Einosuke isn't really the writer of the legends themselves. I think the gods are the writers themselves and it all became possible due to their mythical powers.
i just remember during my grade 6 period when we watched this anime. Every girls who have watched this anime likes tamahome although hotohori 's sketch is more handsome. Its just tamahome's character is really romantic, I dont see any flaws in his romantic side as a man. His character is not perfect because he is not rich in this story, but as man its concept was perfectly design.

He and other characters in the book are real in their world, but unfortunately for Miaka's world, they are all fictional. The concepts of the possibilities of existing parallel universes or multiverse is not yet a concept well understood in Miaka's world.

I love how there is a drama set filming right behind Tamahome and that makes him realize his love for Miaka - means he can relate to people of this world and being a character in a book doesn't really matter anymore because love transcends through time and space!!!! ❤

The manga version of suboshi chasing miaka was pretty funny mika even stole a bike and the people think suboshi a weird kid, suboshi still a weak warrior because his mark hasn't appear yet the manga says the mark showed up everytime the warrior's chi is powered up even tomo and miboshi marks don't appear as well but those two are using some kind of magic or spell.
