Hotohori was my second favorite character hands down. The fact that he died such a beautiful death just like Chiriko, Mitsukake, and Nuriko (my favorite character). It just shows how loved they were by author in my opinion. They could have given them a silly short death but they wanted the viewers to feel grief and anguish over these characters. They achieved a job well done. I loved Hotohori's character from the moment he was introduced. He was beautiful even as he was dying and so was everyone else.

Yes Nakago is the one who deceived her and did a lot of the deeds by his own hand. But Yui chose to let the darkness in her heart lead her to trust someone she has known for only moments over someone who had been beside her basically from birth.

And the background music for him was great, sounded so royal & brave & tender...befitting of the great emperor Hotohori who's always been selfless and dedicated to his people, his kingdom, his fellow sazuka warriors & to Miyaka. He loved Miyaka til the very end. His love for her was just as strong & deep in his own way as that of Tamahome's love for Miyaka. So sad he died. :-(
First time I saw this, I was hysterical when Hotohori died. I still cried after the couple times I've watched this. Now, even though I don't cry like I used to, I do tear up once in a while and feel like shit as well as sad. I love Hotohori

I've read the Shugyoku Den and Tokaki was definitely right from the moment he trained Tamahome during his childhood. Tamahome's sense of duty and responsibility will definitely aid him in serving his purpose as one of the Suzaku Seven. I love how the light novels show why these characters are who they are right now and how will they turn out in the future.

Tomo died and was killed by Soboshi for threatening Amiboshi. Soi died just as Tasuki throw the sword just to kill Nakago. Soboshi died shortly after Tamahome dodge his deadly weapon.Now this, Hotohori died as a proud Emperor and nearly close to succeed by killing Nakago.
