Fushigi Yuugi will never get old. I'll be watching it over and over again and the same feelings that it made me feel since the very first time I watched it would still be there. It's one of a kind. The story is legendary. I just can't say more words to describe how great it is. Thank you, Ms. Yuu Watase for such a wonderful creation! ✋

First watched this animé when I was around 12 years old and now I'm already 28, I'm still rewatching it from time to time. True Love is really such a sight to behold. I hope that kind of love still exist today. Anyway, I love Fushigi Yuugi even though I'm always annoyed with Miaka on always being an idiot, a moron, a cry baby, and a damsel in distress. She seems to be unable to do anything on her own and has always needed saving from the next guy available on her side. Also, I don't get why almost every hunky guy her age has to fall in love with Miaka in this animé? It's like having a lot of handsome rebound guys available by her side all the time whenever Tamahome isn't available. By the way, I'd prefer the Tasuki and Miaka couple. It would be lot less cheesier with him. Poor Tasuki, unrequited love as always. 💔💔💔

Author said she referred to Chinese culture and tales to create this story. However due to the deep influence from ancient China, many aspects of Japanese culture and stuff are very much Chinese, such as language, festivals, arts etc. In a way they actually keep the ancient Chinese jewels better than modern Chinese people.
Actually, these four are a major fixture in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese mythology. All these guys have the four gods peppered throughout their culture- just watch or read anything- it's like the proverbial "Find-Waldo" of these four asian cultures. You can literally make a punch-buggy game of finding them, they make a cameo in almost everything. China usually loves Suzaku the most (although often, since Suzaku means love, Japan will also mention Suzaku). Japan actually, usually gravitates to Seiryu. This is probably why Konon is based off Ancient China instead of ancient Japan, yet Seiryu still is a major fixture of the show (since Japan loves Seiryu but he usually means war). Korea actually loves Byakko the most- last olympics they literally had him in giant white-tiger puppetry form walk a little girl onto the arena to begin the olympics. I haven't checked it out yet, but if Vietnam follows the pattern, they would probably love Genbu the most. So this is kinda a real thing. Check out the opening ceremony of the Seol olympics a few years ago and you will indeed see Byakko make an appearance.

First of all, the reason as to why they could summon Suzaku was explained in the beginning. His power/strength runs completely on love alone, and since their love alone is so powerful, they are able to summon him. Just in this same way they're allowed to travel between both worlds. Second of all, when they summon Suzaku, don't they need to couple with him? Does this mean all three of them got down and dirty together? Just putting that out there.

The second part you mentioned I couldn't stop laughing. Lmao. Maybe? If you think about it, NO. There are two types of spells used throughout the sequel and Fushigi Yuugi series. It's a ritual spell chant and prayer spell chant. The ritual spell chant is the one used to summon the beast god as he assimilate with the priestess giving her three wishes. To do this they need to gather four items that belong to each priestess that has their strong will tied to it. Later for Miyaka its no longer the ring, but their child that could be used to summon Suzaku along with the other items. The other spell (prayer spell chant) is the one used a lot by the priestess to summon the beast god for his aid and protection. To summon Suzaku they need the power of love. They also need to have the priestess precious item, which changes from time and in the OVA instead of the ring its their unborn child and along with the seven warriors gathered. Keep in mind actually for this spell the beast god doesn't assimilate with the priestess.

I still like the name Tamahome better than Taka... Why are Ovas so freaking confusing? The whole time my head is hurting trying to make a sense out of it... Now my head hurts
In OVA 1 Yui became the priestess of genbu not seiryuu bc she stole the book again... One her wishes is to finally seal the book and separate the worlds. So tamahome should stay in book and miaka in real world but Tamahome came to taitsukun to ask for help. He can only reincarnated in miaka's World if he will leave his memories in the book which is in the form of jewels which they were finding in this series or OVA 2. When Tamahome was reincarnated in miaka's world, he was now taka, a Normal college dude who doesn't know the book but destiny made them meet each other and fall in love as well... Taka is also Tamahome but is now an actual human not a book character but he has to retrieve his memories through finding and absorbing his memory jewels... They now call him taka to emphasize that he is a human now not a book character and he has his differences from the book character Tamahome. In simple words, taka is registered in their country as an actual citizen of Japan while Tamahome is just a book character.
It takes a lot of comprehension to understand that Tamahome and Taka are one. Taitsukun said in the beginning that in order for them to be together, Tamahome must let go of his past memories (as a character in the book), and be reborn as Taka in the real world as a human being that actually existed (with family background, educational background, employee background--like a real human should have been). But Taitsukun explained that there is a slightest chance for Miaka and Taka to meet. If they did, Taka needs to reunite with his past memories (Tamahome), the rest of the deceased Suzaku warriors can be reborn as well. Since Taitsukun mentioned that there's no harm if Taka can never regain his last memories as Tamahome. But somehow they need to find the jewels so that others can be reborn as well (And also to prevent Tenkou for achieving his plans). It might be confusing but Taka and Tamahome are one. The only difference is that Taka is a human being. While Tamahome is a character in the book. (There's this story as well I don't remember where I read this, but Taka already met Miaka before the original anime. But Miaka didn't recognize her since she haven't met Tamahome and the others and didn't went inside the book yet. But I remember in that article that Taka and Miaka had feelings for each other. But they only met briefly. That's when after that, Miaka and Yui got sucked up by the book)

I went from watching FY then later watching Fate zero... only to completely miss Miaka's voice actress played Irisviel... and now rewatching FY...when she talks calmly... and clear I can only imagine Iris... which is as weird thing... Who existed first: Taka or Tamahome? Suzaku explained to Miaka that the love between her and Tamahome was a strong source of Suzaku's powers and because of their strong love, Suzaku was able to create a version of Tamahome to exist in the real world, which is Taka. But Suzaku also told Taka that it is for his sake that "Tamahome" existed. I'm confused

To correct this, there wasn't supposed to be a second tamahome. Because it was just all part of Tenko's plan(idk the correct spelling) and to answer it. Tamahome was first to be born because Taka is a reincarnation of the Tamahome from the book to be able to be with his love Miaka.
Tamahome was first. If you think in this way, Tamahome is the past of Taka Sukunami. Taka as Tamahome knows first Miaka, they lived in the other world to finished their Mision. Think this like the first 52 episodes are Taka's life as Tamahome and the OVA 1, he knows as Tamahome, he cannot be with her until he reincarnates. Well, this is before Miaka at the beginnig of this story, opens the book. Well, if we return to the original story as Miaka, who does not know anything, she comes to Tamahome's world. She falls in love with him and their adventure begins. In the OVA 1, Taka is the real world and Tamahome too, but this cannot be possible, because Tamahome is the past and Taka the present. So, Miaka looses Tamahome to find Taka and he has to recover his memories to be complete as a person, because Miaka is the only one who knows he is Tamahome.

Andy Yang Yeah Miaka is sooo lucky to become a Priestess of Suzaku because Suzaku’s power is LOVE I felt really bad to the other Priestesses before them tho because they had to wait for hundreds of years before they could reunite with their love one😣 but personally my favorite Priestess is Takiko. In OVA 1 Yui became the priestess of genbu not seiryuu bc she stole the book again... One her wishes is to finally seal the book and separate the worlds. So tamahome should stay in book and miaka in real world but Tamahome came to taitsukun to ask for help. He can only reincarnated in miaka's World if he will leave his memories in the book which is in the form of jewels which they were finding in this series or OVA 2.
When Tamahome was reincarnated in miaka's world, he was now taka, a Normal college dude who doesn't know the book but destiny made them meet each other and fall in love as well...
Taka is also Tamahome but is now an actual human not a book character but he has to retrieve his memories through finding and absorbing his memory jewels...
They now call him taka to emphasize that he is a human now not a book character and he has his differences from the book character Tamahome. In simple words, taka is registered in their country as an actual citizen of Japan while Tamahome is just a book character.

It takes a lot of comprehension to understand that Tamahome and Taka are one. Taitsukun said in the beginning that in order for them to be together, Tamahome must let go of his past memories (as a character in the book), and be reborn as Taka in the real world as a human being that actually existed (with family background, educational background, employee background--like a real human should have been). But Taitsukun explained that there is a slightest chance for Miaka and Taka to meet. If they did, Taka needs to reunite with his past memories (Tamahome), the rest of the deceased Suzaku warriors can be reborn as well. Since Taitsukun mentioned that there's no harm if Taka can never regain his last memories as Tamahome. But somehow they need to find the jewels so that others can be reborn as well (And also to prevent Tenkou for achieving his plans).
It might be confusing but Taka and Tamahome are one. The only difference is that Taka is a human being. While Tamahome is a character in the book. (There's this story as well I don't remember where I read this, but Taka already met Miaka before the original anime. But Miaka didn't recognize her since she haven't met Tamahome and the others and didn't went inside the book yet. But I remember in that article that Taka and Miaka had feelings for each other. But they only met briefly. That's when after that, Miaka and Yui got sucked up by the book)
This one of the Greatest Animè in 90's until now 6/24/2019 or i must say 90's Animè was amazing and lot's of stories to get , just Like Hunter x Hunter, Ghost Fighter, Magic Knight Ray Earth, Slam Dunk, Zenki, Inu Yasha, Card Captor Sakura, Flame of Recca and more ❤

Who existed first: Taka or Tamahome?
Suzaku explained to Miaka that the love between her and Tamahome was a strong source of Suzaku's powers and because of their strong love, Suzaku was able to create a version of Tamahome to exist in the real world, which is Taka.
But Suzaku also told Taka that it is for his sake that "Tamahome" existed.
I'm confused
THAT IS MY QUESTION TOO!! Who existed first??? Is it Taka or Tama?Maybe the time that Miaka and Yui first entered the book is the time that Taka existed???
To correct this, there wasn't supposed to be a second tamahome. Because it was just all part of Tenko's plan(idk the correct spelling) and to answer it. Tamahome was first to be born because Taka is a reincarnation of the Tamahome from the book to be able to be with his love Miaka.

Tamahome was first. If you think in this way, Tamahome is the past of Taka Sukunami. Taka as Tamahome knows first Miaka, they lived in the other world to finished their Mision. Think this like the first 52 episodes are Taka's life as Tamahome and the OVA 1, he knows as Tamahome, he cannot be with her until he reincarnates. Well, this is before Miaka at the beginnig of this story, opens the book. Well, if we return to the original story as Miaka, who does not know anything, she comes to Tamahome's world. She falls in love with him and their adventure begins. In the OVA 1, Taka is the real world and Tamahome too, but this cannot be possible, because Tamahome is the past and Taka the present. So, Miaka looses Tamahome to find Taka and he has to recover his memories to be complete as a person, because Miaka is the only one who knows he is Tamahome.
