What the heck Inside Edition? Trying to kill us all? All I am thinking of is the girl who smelled something bad and lit a candle and then her whole house exploded.
Instead of lighting a match, and causing an explosion, you could spray air freshener, or something else that has a visible mist, and use that to detect a downdraft.
Today at my school there was a gas leak in the cafeteria. 1st period PE smelled it and the whole school including the elementary school that was connected to our building had to evacuate immediately. It took about an hour and a half until we were able to go back into the building. I’m just glad that this incident wasn’t fatal like that family. Rip.🙏🏻
You know there’s many types of gas leaks I wouldn’t advise telling someone to light a matchup locate Incase the gas leaking isn’t carbon monoxide but Natural gas or propane if you light a match in that you may find the leak and your neighborhood will find it too.
Im just scared because my mom could smell gas and my cousins bf said that be careful because its a very dangerous gas and that if we didnt notice it and we were asleep we wouldnt wake up in the morning but thank god we have gas detectors
Go outside and light an incense stick, then take it to the water heater to test the air uptake. Maybe a match isn’t the greatest idea, but I still appreciated knowing how to test it. Thank you
Where I live is rented... The water heater is locked up in our house but the door is outside. It is locked, we can't have access to it. Also, the alarm is upstairs. We have no say in where it should go. Maybe whoever is in charge of safety should be more a strict with landlords.
Winds of March Journey/Perry tribute band if you don’t have a natural gas connection, and your only gas is tank propane, you probably have a electric hot water heater.
This is my biggest fear I live in the 3 story apartments with my family I want to live like there was an incident like years ago a family of five passed away from CO2 poisoning and the landlord got 5 life sentences
@@inspireme-hn1ohI think this was a REEEEALLY dumb idea to tell people to light a match if they think they have a leak. What if it’s not CO1 that’s leaking? What if it’s natural gas? Someone lights a match to test and BOOM 💥
By law you're required to have a CO detector in your home where I live either your landlord needs to put it or you as a homeowner need to if you have tenants but go buy one dude you never know when a situation like this might happen
Incorrectly drafting is not caused by a gas leak. If you have that issue you probably should not call you gas company call a plumber and get that fixed gas company will just turn it off and give you a caution tag.
Natural gas is being used for domestic cooking and heating in a large number of countries. It is a fossil fuel and is transported through underground piping networks to the consumers via gas meters at moderate pressure; the pressure is regulated at the distribution and consumer ends. But hazard exists because of its high flammability and heating value or calorific value. What if natural gas leaks in your house?
The CO monitor must be located less than 24 inches above the ground. because CO is a heavy gas. Smoke detectors must be less than 2 feet from the ceiling because smoke rises. Ask any Firemarshal
Carbon monoxide dont have a smell but incomplete combustion from the block vent that is block fresh air outside the burners will be yellow and give a horrible sulfur like smell stale smell and there will be black soot by the burners thats a better way than the updraft match trick
I live in an apartment building and in our basement car park we have a CO2 detector because it's not just from the gas heater you can also get carbon monoxide poisoning from vehicle exhaust
I’ve lost count how many gas leaks I have had since 2011 had loads in my old house moved house in 2015 and on first day in my new house the was a gas leak and had way loads more since as well even other day I had a bad gas leak house stunk badly am tired of gas leaks .gas can smell like sour milk rotten apples and kinda like paint fed up of calling someone out to fix my gas leaks
Watching this while high, I was like oh ok. But then reading the comments I was laughing bc I totally missed the lighting a match part and how dangerous that could be! But not I’m anxious bc I just bought new co/smoke detectors but have yet to put them up :(
Just walk around lighting a match in every room and when you hear and see a huge explosion then you know where the leak is coming from!
Thanks ill try that
Instructions unclear I am now dead
Thanks dude
Primitive technique me thinks...
Lool funny but not funny
Light a match near were you think it is 😂
i know right this giys is jackass.never light match whwre potiental gas leak is.dumbass

Hay
I was going to say that
Thanks man, really saved me some time!👍
ghost fox hay is for horses
So if the device is possibly leaking gas, I should light a match next to it? That doesn't sound right...
..sounded strange to me too
The gas that killed the family was carbon monoxide. Different gas than what we use for appliances.
Sounds perfect. I'm just going to light a match to check for a gas leak.
I won’t light a match if there’s a gas leak
What the heck Inside Edition? Trying to kill us all? All I am thinking of is the girl who smelled something bad and lit a candle and then her whole house exploded.
okay.....I'm just going to...er...just a minute...light this mat-BOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They put something in actual combustible gases so you can smell them, carbon monoxide on the other hand is odorless
At 1:33 I actually thought my smoke alarm was going off
My condolences to the family :/
That's too scary to do.
I know 😂😂😂
Im just scared because my mom could smell gas and my cousins bf said that be careful because its a very dangerous gas and that if we didnt notice it and we were asleep we wouldnt wake up in the morning but thank god we have gas detectors
CO doesn't have any smell.
Don't be dumb. Get the gas co to deal with it right away.
Yep. Best way to test for gas leaks is to light a match
Keep doing great Inside Edition don’t let anything stop this channel
Unexpected Gaming y
Seriously? They're teaching us to use a flame to find a gas leak! Do you not see the problem here?
ghost walk I didn’t say you should do this I’m just saying it’s a good channel
LMAO, Normally I'd say you're right, but now it seems they're trying to kill us
ghost walk Mhm Got It. But it is a good channel right?
Is there a gas leak?
Idk, light a match.
**Checks if there's a gas leak**
**Lights match**

LIGHT A MATCH DURING A GAS LEAK!?
I wonder if this video has caused the death of even more families.
I'm literally just gonna vape up the water heater to test it.
Lighting a match is too dangerous.
Go outside and light an incense stick, then take it to the water heater to test the air uptake. Maybe a match isn’t the greatest idea, but I still appreciated knowing how to test it. Thank you
Is this guy insane did he seriously say light a match where you think the leak is?
They want to kill us
Outside edition: how to make a gas leak
He should have mentioned the alarm on the ceiling was smoke AND carbon monoxide. Only a Smoke detector will not sense CO.

Rahel M. Most homes have electric water heaters.
JoneTech
Can those have leaks too? I have no knowledge of the matter lol.

Inside edition should take this video down man never lighting a match if you think theirs a gas leak is like saying throw water at burning oil.
I know right? This guy was checking to see if the chimney was working, not looking for a gas leak.
They tell you NOT to mount them near the appliances.
I’m pretty sure I’ve got a gas leak rn but I’m too scared to light a match tbh
Well this is old style testing it's illegal in uk to light a match

Dude said to test for gas you should light a match near said gas???
I don’t have a gas water tank I have a hot water tank
Alright...Lemme Light This Match Aaaand...

This is one of my like, existential fears
Who else don’t have co detectors in their house and is scared af now
Yeah, guess we just need to get one, huh? I wish CO had a smell...it'd make it a little easier. You wouldn't relax if you smelled something strange.
Serasia I always wished it had color😂😣
It's ok, just buy one. They're dirt cheap and last forever.

Hope so! =/

I thought my fire alarms were going off, phew that scared me.
wait I don't have a fire alarm!
or a fire extinguisher for that matter.
BUY ONE THATS UNSAFE. Oh wait it's been 2 years
Imagine if carbon monoxide is visible it’s just so small that we can’t see it by the naked eye
Wow you're smart
I've got another way to tell!
Light a match right next to the water heater, if it sucks in, then good for you, if it doesn't, you'll never know it!
Livie_J exhaust fumes aren’t flammable...
@@jonetech5324 CO is a flammable gas. Please do a basic Google search.

How to check if there's a gas leak. Light a match. Boom. Yep there was a leak

Incorrectly drafting is not caused by a gas leak.

They died from a leak I feel so sorry
Imma throw my water heater out! We need to go back to the good old days with wells and heat up our water in a fire.. this is so sad and scary
The Time In Between 🤦♂️ alright if you’re that scared go install an electric water heater
I have an electric water heater
