  • After officials revealed an American family of four died in Mexico as a result of inhaling toxic gases, many are wondering if a hidden danger is lurking in their homes. Dave Hamilton, an instructor at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, showed Inside Edition an easy way you can test your water heater or furnace for gas leaks. “Take a match out, light it, hold it next to it, blow it out, watch the smoke,” he advises. “If the smoke gets sucked up, you've got a proper updraft.” #InsideEdition

Just walk around lighting a match in every room and when you hear and see a huge explosion then you know where the leak is coming from!

Instead of lighting a match, and causing an explosion, you could spray air freshener, or something else that has a visible mist, and use that to detect a downdraft.

Today at my school there was a gas leak in the cafeteria. 1st period PE smelled it and the whole school including the elementary school that was connected to our building had to evacuate immediately. It took about an hour and a half until we were able to go back into the building. I’m just glad that this incident wasn’t fatal like that family. Rip.🙏🏻

Natural gas is being used for domestic cooking and heating in a large number of countries. It is a fossil fuel and is transported through underground piping networks to the consumers via gas meters at moderate pressure; the pressure is regulated at the distribution and consumer ends. But hazard exists because of its high flammability and heating value or calorific value.
What if natural gas leaks in your house?
